    Burnt corn bread

I ordered take-out of two catfish sandwiches, an order of fries with no salt and an Oder of corn bread. They said that the order would take 38 minutes to prepare. When I went to pick up the order I also added and paid for an ice tea and included a 15%tip for the take-out. The order took more than an hour to get ready which caused me to be late for a concert. The French fries were so salty that I only ate a few of them. No ice tea was included in my order and we were so late for the concert that I decided not to go back there for it. The corn bread was burnt on the top ( see the pic that I'm including. There were no napkins or cutlery included in the order. No one told me that fries were already included with each sandwich. The only god thing was the catfish. For $72(including a tip) I deserved a better experience.

How have not been here yet?? Stopped in for lunch on a random Tuesday. The place was open all to me and a cute older couple at the bar. I had one of the most unique and yummy Cubans I've ever had. It was huge and the sauce was amazing. The bread was perfect and the bit of N'arlens flair was evident and perfect! The fries were great too and the service was spot on. I'll be back with friends when I can put a proper dent into their menu.

Hands down best service I've ever had, can wait to come back just for Ques. Now as for the food PHENOMENONAL. We had the Gumbo, Pierogies, Brisket Mac, and Buttermilk Chicken. Every dish was Amazing !!

Oh my! Delicious! We shared the Fried Catfish with Collard greens with maple and rice. The catfish was cooked perfectly. The greens were delicious, with lots of flavor. The rice was good, a little spice for me, but he didn't think it was spicy at all. We ordered a side of the Brussels Spouts, absolutely delicious! Also, ordered a side of the cornbread, the best I've ever had. Cute little place, off the beaten path. They were kind enough to lower the radio. The waitress was friendly and attentive. If I didn't live 1.5 hours away, I definitely would be visiting a lot. We rated it a 5 star which we don't give out that much!

My wife and I wound up a Bayou because our first two choices were closed due to the new year holiday. This was our first time here. We were greeted quickly and were seated immediately. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is very cozy and has that southern feel as the name implies.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress (Ques) was absolutely fabulous! She gave us suggestions on menu items and took our drink orders. I had a blue Bayou (delish) and my wife had the voodoo juice (also wonderful). Our appetizer was fried green tomatoes that were amazing. The two entrees were crispy catfish for myself and the spare ribs for the wife. Sides were collard greens, dirty rice, corn bread and hoppin John's. I have to say, everything came out in a timely manner and was absolutely awesome! We couldn't say enough how glad we were to wind up here by chance. Ques is by far, one of the best servers we've met. Instead of telling you how good the food and service is, try it for yourself and hopefully you will agree that this is a great place. One regret! I didn't try the Hushpuppies!! I'll be back for them. Thank you Bayou and a bigger thank you to Ques for making a great place even better.

Ask the Community - The Bayou

Does the restaurant have a full bar?

    Yes they do.

Are there Happy Hour food specials and what are the Happy Hour hours?

I am not sure as we visited for lunch.

Do you offer gluten free options?

You'd have to ask. They have a lot of fried food, which likely isn't gluten free, but they do have some salads, gumbo, jambalaya, and oxtail that might be.

The sides were Mac n cheese, Pineapple mango slaw, and etole. All great matches with our protein. The owner was very accommodating. He answered all of our questions and made our experience as good as it possibly could be. The decor was outstanding with incredible artwork everywhere. Here's the catch! You just don't know when they are available for sit down service. They are small to large group oriented. Meaning catering is the priority. If they are contracted for an event, they may not be open for sit down service or take-out. So, Ownership recommends calling ahead to see what services are available. (It's also super-affordable -- less than $15 for both of our meals, including drinks.) The atmosphere is casual, comfortable, & a little jazzy; a piano (complete with tip jar), cozy couches, & a shelf of books say "Come hang out here." About 10 minutes after placing our order, the waitress came back & apologized for the "long wait." Within a few minutes, the chef (a wizened old Black man who lends credibility to the authenticity of the Soul Food) came out & apologized himself. A few minutes later, the waitress reappeared & offered us free chocolate cake "for the wait." Bewildered but delighted, my sister & I accepted. Arriving shortly afterward, the food would have been worth a longer "wait." I got the fish po' boy: fresh swai fish, breaded in-house with something delightfully spicy with fresh lettuce & a flavorful House Po' Boy sauce. The chips, also made in-house, are positively light (sliced quite thin) but also seasoned with spice. My sister said the fried chicken was "standard," but was impressed with the candied yams. Overall, it seems like a go-to place to hang out over coffee, chai, sandwiches, or soul food.

FYI - I am from NYC. I've been to Jamaica, all over.. from home-cooked meals to resort/restaurant…read morefood... I love Jamaican cuisine. I came to Bethlehem PA to visit a few brothers. I wanted them to get out the box and find me some good food that is not from a pizzeria, WaWa's, GIANT Supermarket, etc. We settled on....... JAMAICAN! "Yes!", I thought. But, tbh, I wasn't expecting much out here. But boy, I was proven wrong with Cherry's Caribbean Palace: - Curry Goat: Soft, tender, hearty, healthy meat. It was cooked perfect. Not gamy or chewy, but exactly what you'd expect when you think curry goat. Perfect, mild, yellow, Jamaican curry style flavor. - Curry Chicken: You know Cherry's is authentic by how to they chop up the chicken. Bones and meat - it's not a thoughtless dish. You have to work at it, but so worth it. Doesn't seem like it's those hormone-pumped, farm raised chicken. Again with perfect, mild, Jamaican curry flavor. Not too spicy at all. - Jerk Chicken: Fire, in the traditional island jerk sense. Made a few of us sweat. Healthy, meaty portions. Skin was perfectly cooked with the jerk. It wasn't falling apart, like other places. - Jerk Pork: It's jerk, but you can taste the Jamaican pork, 'bbq' aspect, if you know what I mean. It has a, imo, a bit of tangy hint. Which is why I rate it Delicious. - The beef patties: oh man, the beef patties. The ground meat inside was not liquified (think pizzeria beef patties), and it wasn't dry crumbs (think supermarket fast food beef patties). It was top notch. You can tell because Cherry's cook their beef patties with a little slit/hole on the top of the patty (I assume they do this because they know how they want to cook the meat inside). Frickin' loved the beef patties. - Oxtail: the meat itself was quality; not full of ligaments or fatty parts. It wasn't dry and overcooked. It was perfectly made. And the sauce, ooh, the sauce. It's not like how other restaurants would use the same kind of base & spices, but at Cherry's, they have a specific oxtail sauce that is distinct, and quite lovely. - Everything came with rice and peas (great consistency, soft, but not watery or clumpy), perfect balance for all the spicy entrees above. - Everything came with cooked cabbage (fresh, crunchy, and not slimy) - Everything came with sweet plantains (ripe & sweet with a little tinge) Call ahead to order! Much better to work with them direct - not Uber eats! They are good people. When picking up. The gentlemen let us know that they'd bring the food out to our car. It might look like a 'hole in the wall' (no offense), BUT IT'S THE REALEST FOOD. It made me and my boys' stomachs very happy. Thank you Cherry's.. we're definitely going to be a good, repeat customer.

We ordered the Caesar salad (phenomenal) The steak tartare, just divine perfection The waitress heard me talking about the sweat breads from the chicken dish (that I wasn't ordering, I'll explain shortly) and said the chef could do them as a side dish, DELICIOUS!!! My husband got the world's largest most delicious pork chop. Now, my meal. I ordered the halibut and recognized that perhaps it wasn't for me, but I ordered it it was my choice I wasn't going to send it back. Our waitress took note that I wasn't eating and told me that simply would not do and hustled to the kitchen to come out with the chicken dish, I was so appreciative of her noticing and accommodating this, truly, amazing service and that chicken was succulent beyond words! We also got 3 of the desserts, the seasonal eggnog bread pudding, the cinnamon raisin bread pudding which was insanely delicious as I personally am not a huge bread pudding fan but if every bread pudding was this? That would be my go to! And of course the butterscotch pudding which better never leave the menu because it is lick your plate delicious!!! I also enjoyed a hot cocktail which on a cold night was heavenly. A once cozy and romantic atmosphere, is now a crowded, loud dining room. I had made a reservation on Resy (as per Bolete's website) and requested an upstairs table. In the notes, I mentioned our anniversary, and that we were looking forward to a cozy table to celebrate. Unfortunately, we were seated in the middle of two other parties, whom were both facing us. The lighting was contemporary, and kept brightening then dimming, repeatedly throughout the evening. There was little to no decor, I'm assuming that was removed to fit the volume of tables. The food was as delicious, as I had remembered. However, my husband ordered the ribeye, and was told they were out of steak, but that the pork chop was a delicious second choice. Sorry...a pork chop is not comparable to a steak. An appetizer we chose was also no longer available. Perhaps if Bolete had stuck with quality over quantity, they would not have run out of our first choice options? For our few, and far between date nights these days, the overall experience was a disappointment.
