Bayou Cuban

How have not been here yet?? Stopped in for lunch on a random Tuesday. The place was open all to me and a cute older couple at the bar. I had one of the most unique and yummy Cubans I've ever had. It was huge and the sauce was amazing. The bread was perfect and the bit of N'arlens flair was evident and perfect! The fries were great too and the service was spot on. I'll be back with friends when I can put a proper dent into their menu.

My wife and I wound up a Bayou because our first two choices were closed due to the new year holiday. This was our first time here. We were greeted quickly and were seated immediately. The atmosphere is very cozy and has that southern feel as the name implies. Our waitress (Ques) was absolutely fabulous! She gave us suggestions on menu items and took our drink orders. I had a blue Bayou (delish) and my wife had the voodoo juice (also wonderful). Our appetizer was fried green tomatoes that were amazing. The two entrees were crispy catfish for myself and the spare ribs for the wife. Sides were collard greens, dirty rice, corn bread and hoppin John's. I have to say, everything came out in a timely manner and was absolutely awesome! We couldn't say enough how glad we were to wind up here by chance. Ques is by far, one of the best servers we've met. Instead of telling you how good the food and service is, try it for yourself and hopefully you will agree that this is a great place. One regret! I didn't try the Hushpuppies!! I'll be back for them. Thank you Bayou and a bigger thank you to Ques for making a great place even better.

Oh my! Delicious! We shared the Fried Catfish with Collard greens with maple and rice. The catfish was cooked perfectly. The greens were delicious, with lots of flavor. The rice was good, a little spice for me, but he didn't think it was spicy at all. We ordered a side of the Brussels Spouts, absolutely delicious! Also, ordered a side of the cornbread, the best I've ever had. Cute little place, off the beaten path. They were kind enough to lower the radio. The waitress was friendly and attentive. If I didn't live 1.5 hours away, I definitely would be visiting a lot. We rated it a 5 star which we don't give out that much!

I'll start by saying that the ambiance and vibe of The Bayou was wonderful. I ate at the bar around 5:00 and it wasn't busy yet. The bartender and wait staff were great. I ordered the shrimp po' boy with fries and the po' boy was really disappointing. It seemed as though they had run out of shrimp in the kitchen. As pictured, there was a sparsely arranged single layer of small shrimp on the bread. I probably got a sample of shrimp in about every other bite I took of the sandwich. And the shrimp were so over cooked that they had the pull of beef jerky. The sub roll that was used in the sandwich was great though! The fries served with the po' boy were delicious!

Delicious meal again last night at The Bayou. Our kids enjoyed delicious mac n cheese and apple slices (could be more apple). I enjoyed the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with deliciously seasoned fries and the sweet mash casserole was devoured by all of us. My Hubby enjoyed his jambalaya and i enjoyed the bites he shared with me. Our waitress was happy to offer suggestions and was running her butt off all night. Can't wait to come back!!

Stopped back again during our annual exploration trip to Allentown and Bethlehem and Bayou is always on our list for great eats. With a dog we love that we can sit in a covered cool outdoor area to enjoy the delicious food. The staff was so enamored with our dog that it made it like coming home again. For this trip around, we decided to focus on appetizers and drinks and these are some of our staples. The fried green tomatoes are always 100% outrageous the white wine clams again 100% outrageous every time this time we tried something new the cast iron pierogies and I'm glad we did. It was so tasty and everything is so beautifully plated . For our beverages, my wife ordered the best drink ever the jalapeño margarita if I wasn't driving a long trip home I certainly could've put two down myself, but I would've been down on the ground and out for the count so she enjoyed that I had a beer and there were so many beer options to choose from it's great that they offer tastings. Be sure to see our scrumptious food photos and don't blame me if you drool on your iPhone while you're looking at this in

Ask the Community - The Bayou

Does the restaurant have a full bar?

Yes they do.

Are there Happy Hour food specials and what are the Happy Hour hours?

I am not sure as we visited for lunch.

Do you offer gluten free options?

You'd have to ask. They have a lot of fried food, which likely isn't gluten free, but they do have some salads, gumbo, jambalaya, and oxtail that might be.

We were seated right away in an open format atmosphere with the best balance of light and dark. The bar across from us looked fantastic. What we noticed right from the start is how well the staff works with and for each other to bring guests the best dining experience possible. Maddie was our server. She was kind, professional, patient, and knowledgable about both food and drink on a grand scale. Her recommendations were stellar. I had a refreshing gin and basil martini as well as their beef carpaccio, which was absolutely fantastic. My girlfriend started with their beef stew, which was thick and satisfying. It was so delicious, she almost canceled her entree to have more. She went with the home cooking route and indulged in their meatloaf with green beans and mashed potatoes. Although she loved that as well, half had to come home with her, which made for an excellent lunch the next day. I went with the raw of it all and got their spectacular tuna tartare with asparagus, radish, and rice. Usually, the tuna is cut into strips but this tremendous block of gorgeous fish knocked me out. Absolutely fantastic from presentation to flavor. For dessert, we got their brownie with ice cream and this was all upper level in taste and texture. I would be shocked if their ice cream hadn't been made in-house. We loved our first experience with Apollo and we look forward to our next visit, which is hopefully sooner than later.

Thank goodness we planned some flexibility after the meal before our show started. But the real downer of the meal was Alison. Our server had such an attitude... while the food was pretty good, she was not. The place was also too loud and had no vibe. The bar crowd spilled into the seat area and looked messy. Wouldn't go back.

On our way home after skiing, the fam decided to stop in for breakfast. Good thing we arrived a little bit before 11:00 a.m., because Within 20 minutes of us being seated, there was already a 20 min wait outside for a table! I like the Ambiance of the inside restaurant, fireplace with a cauldron right by the entrance is a nice touch. That being said, the restaurant is really toasty! I had heard about Cracker Barrel for years, and this visit did not disappoint. Two in our ordered the steak and eggs. One steak was overdone more than medium rare, but the other one was cooked perfectly medium rare. Guess due to the volume they can't manage it perfectly. My sunny side up eggs for my sandwich was a little undercooked, as the egg white was still clear and runny. Seems like things that were cooked in butter, possibly overcast iron or baked, we're cooked perfectly, as our pancakes and biscuits were both cooked perfectly. No burnt edges, but toasty and delicious. They even served real maple syrup, and offered us refills on our coffees and soft drinks without even asking. Little peg game on table is signature gimmick, which kept the kiddos busy trying to figure out the puzzle. I rather enjoyed shopping while waiting for my order to come by, as I found a number of items on super sale, ranging from 25% to 70% discounted. Joined their rewards program and already earned a reward. Overall, staff were friendly (Yani was our server). Hopefully will be back if we're in the area again!

It's always a little off-putting (for…read moreme) when the person who is supposed to take your order is visibly annoyed by general questions about the menu - especially, if it's your first time at the establishment (whether it's to dine-in or for takeout). That was my experience upon entering Winston's and browsing the menu. Which, might I add, did not display all available options or reflect current prices. How can you NOT ask questions?! Anyway, when we arrived Winston's looks like a brownstone type of home that has a restaurant occupying the first floor. We happened to find a parking space right in front - go us! Street parking seemed to be scarce. The food is excellent. The most authentic tasting Jamaican cuisine I have had in a long time. It's evident they know what they're doing in the kitchen! I ordered the curry chicken with rice/peas and cabbage. Also, a side of macaroni and cheese, which was freshly bubbling out of the oven. We eat with our eyes first, right? I could not resist! And it did not disappoint, at all. Plenty cheesy and gooey while flavorful, too. The curry chicken packed a delicious punch of flavor with each bite as it fell off of the bone. The cabbage, my favorite, shredded into perfect slices and a little spicy kick, perfectly combined with the few potatoes and carrots included with it. The rice/peas was delightful as well. A great meal! By the time we were ready to exit, the service had become much 'friendlier'. However, it is not lost on me that it's only because the owner, Mr. Winston himself, came in and greeted us. He was so jovial and inviting. Prior to that moment, the gentleman behind the counter had MUCH attitude. Overall, the food is what will bring me back here. And I WILL be back!
