This was our third visit, and it's consistently one of our favorite spots for hot pot. Kids under 1.2m eat free, so for us (two adults + one kid), it's a great value. The seafood is extremely fresh, the broths are rich and flavorful, and the selection of small dishes is huge. There are tons of options for sides, appetizers, and even BBQ items before the meal. The dessert selection is also impressive. One thing I hope they can improve is the ice jelly (冰粉). The current red version tastes a bit like Jell-O, which feels a little off compared to authentic Chongqing ice jelly -- would love to see a more traditional texture and flavor in the future. My personal must-haves here are the lobster, crayfish, beef tripe, and pork aorta (黄喉) -- always fresh, always delicious. Overall, amazing quality, super fresh seafood, and great variety. First time here and loved the experience! Staff were very nice and friendly and service was quick and efficient. There is such a large selection of seafood to choose from, for the price of $63.99 per person, it is not bad especially considering how much seafood and meat costs. Ordering is easy as each table has their own tablet to place orders but my only gripe was that staff need to enter a code before you can submit to the kitchen. Drinks are self service and you can get as many as you like, from sodas, water, soy milk, green tea. There is also a sauce bar that is kept very clean. Decor is amazing as staff informed me that the paintings on the walls were hand painted by an artist from China. For every 2 people, you get an option of a lobster or another type of seafood. Seafood options range from mussels to class and even razor clams. Plenty of meat and veggie options as well. Although this is supposed to be a hotpot and bbq restaurant, hotpot is the only thing available as the restaurant does not have the proper ventilation installed for the bbq grills, although the grills are right next to the hotpot. An incredibly satisfying all-you-can-eat hot pot! This was the most enjoyable meal I've had since coming to the US. Boston Lobster: Can you imagine? As someone who lives in the Boston area, I actually had my first American lobster in New Jersey... It was large and very fresh, with firm flesh, and you could taste a distinct umami and sweetness. Salmon: It was of very high quality, with plenty of fat, and the thickness of the slices depended on the chef's skill. The slices in the picture were already very satisfying, but later when I ordered more, I got even thicker slices, which made me incredibly happy. Marinated salmon: It had a different marinade compared to what I've had in China, with a stronger ginger and scallion flavor and was more on the savory side. But it was still very delicious, as the ingredients were of good quality. Sweet Shrimp: It was fresh and sweet, but a bit small, about 1/3 the size of which in Japanese restaurants in China. But since it's all-you-can-eat, you can just order more. Durian: It was also fresh and perfectly ripe, and importantly, it was chilled just right - soft, smooth, sweet but not cloying, unlike the rock-hard frozen durian used in many Chinese buffets. For a durian fanatic like me, being able to eat all-you-can-eat durian in the US is truly a blessing... I also recommend the giant river prawn and shrimp paste, especially with the Thai sweet and tangy seafood sauce - flavorful and refreshing. This is one of those places where my whole family is willing to make an hour drive out to eat at. We've always gotten the seafood hotpot, while not pricey than other places, the prices justify that quality of food that you get. My parents are huge seafood fans so they know what's good, and the food here has consistently exceeded their expectations. We came on a Friday at 5:30 pm and there was still plenty of seats available. You can put your name on the Google wait list if needed, but I think if you come early there should be spots. There is a minimum of a two person dine in policy and I totally get why. If you really want to try everything you need a good group of 4-6 people so you're not stuck eating two dishes. You order the items on the iPad and then give it to a staff to place the order. Might help to know Chinese at this establishment. There's a sauces bar and a drinks fridge with fruits and other snacks for you to grab while you wait for food. As always you must end the meal with the durian, I'm not sure how they manage to get such yummy durians all the time, but apparently this is the place to eat to your content. The jelly dessert was OK, tasted more like a jello mix. If you pay in cash you can get their tea to go at the end. Been here 3 times this year and Chongqing Wharf has quickly become my favorite restaurant. Probably the best hotpot in NJ, Chonqing Wharf uses some of the freshest, sometimes live ingredients. They offer a huge variety if seafood, meats, veggies, skewers, apps, drinks and even ice cream and bubble tea. The servers are always attentive and ready to replace dishes and utensils routinely. They are also very helpful if you don't know how their restaurant works as far as ordering from their tablets. Every table gets their choice of lobster or sea cucumber. Our lobster was prepared fresh and was still moving when we received it! Some of my favorites have to be the beef skewers and the mung bean noodles, and literally every type of beef. They even have different types of fresh sashimi as well as snowcrab legs. You will not leave this place here hungry! Pricewise, Chongqing Wharf is a bit more expensive than your average hotpot place. Since everything here is all you can eat, it has a $60 pp price tag which I do think is well worth it with how much seafood can fill yourself up on. I would also suggest researching sauce combinations before coming so you know how to make the best usage of their sauce bar. However, our party of four felt very cramped at the table. We ordered a lot of items, but there wasn't enough space to fit everything. Each table only had one hot pot and one grill, which made it hard to enjoy the meal since we had to wait for food to cook. I even let my kids eat first so they wouldn't have to wait. All the tables were the same size, so switching wasn't an option. You order through an iPad, and they bring the items to your table. Drinks are included, and you can grab them from the fridge area. Betty took such amazing care of us in ways that exceeded our expectation, especially when compared to their Brooklyn location. Betty not only serviced us quickly with extreme kindness and friendliness, but she went above and beyond in offering to assist us in peeling our mantis shrimp, which is an extreme chore for us since it's very difficult to do so. The staff members spoke fluent Mandarin and English, and some even knew how to speak Cantonese which is a plus! We went on a Sunday around 5pm and there were no wait, with plenty of free parking in their parking lot. Chongqing wharf is a pricey place. It came out to $75 per person after tax and tip for our meal. It was definitely good. They offered 1 free lobster per 2 guests so try to arrive with an even number of people. The crustacean was definitely the highlight of the meal, which is saying something because everything was good. Even the fishballs and beef balls (which my friend ordered in too large a number at such an expensive place) tasted more premium than those at other hotpot places. Ditto with the hotpot meats and seafood. They have razor clams and abalone in the shell and they were amazing. The salmon sashimi was great too and I didn't have any stomach problems afterwards. They advertised a free bubble tea to go if you pay cash, which I guess can be a $6 value or so. The one I received was way too sweet even though I requested 1/2 sugar. That was a little disappointing. Another slight letdown is the lack of bbq. This is strictly hotpot, which is fine but it's literally twice the price of kpot which has ayce bbq and hotpot. On the plus side (for some) is the byob policy. You can get some money back by bringing your own beer or wine. read more

I went here on June 19th for my mom's birthday, and overall it was a good experience with a few drawbacks. For 3 people after tax and a 20% tip was about $226. Price is $59 per person before tax and tip. There was a huge variety of food, and I enjoyed the basa fish, beef, sashimi, lobster, and ice cream offered at the end. The sashimi coming out on ice was a nice touch, and my mom was very pleased with the durian. My sister enjoyed the drinks they had, including soy milk and canned herbal drink. I saw they had Snapple bottles and soda too, included for us to take. The only issues I had with the food were the spicy butter broth and snow crab legs. The other yellow broth we had was yummy, but the spicy butter was REALLY spicy. The waiter said it was medium spicy when we asked, but everyone at the table ended up giving up on it, even my mom who can handle spicy things quite well. The snow crab legs unfortunately were overly salty and didn't taste fresh... Couldn't eat more after a bite. That was disappointing since I was looking forward to those a lot! But I had plenty other delicious options to make up for it. The environment was pretty, well-decorated. We originally got placed in a booth but there were flies around there so we got moved and didn't have any issues after that. I do wish the place was air-conditioned more, it got a bit warm into the meal with the hot pot steam. But I'll almost always try a place at least once, especially if the reviews are good. And I'm glad I did. Service was so much more attentive than any other hot pot places. They explained the ordering system to us since it was our first time there, and the food came out quickly. They give the option of either crab or lobster, so we opted for lobster. The pieces were thoughtfully cut, even the claw, so that taking out the meat would be less difficult. We chose the chicken and fish maw broth as well as the coconut and chicken. I absolutely love that they had fish maw. The coconut was interesting, tasty, but coconut isn't one of my favorite flavors. All of our items were super fresh, and they had crab, oyster and dragonfruit fresh fish balls, which you don't see on the menu in the area. Service was quick to take away our empty plates, or offer us clean ones and help us skim away the fat. I was especially impressed by this last detail and the fact that they had separate broths to refill your hot pot with based on what kind of broth you ordered. The attention to detail is not to be overlooked, from having bags to put your jacket it (to keep them from getting smelly), to bibs, and to even offer me a hair tie when they saw me searching for one in my bag. We decided to pick lobster which they had perfectly cut down the middle for ease later on. We picked vegetables, mushrooms , prawns, noodles, clams, oysters and more. I think for the amount of food and the seafood the price was reasonable. The service was also incredible as I mentioned. They were attentive, quick but not overbearing like American restaurants. This hotpot spot is so good that I went twice in the same week! Went on a Sunday evening and there was a wait, but it moves really fast. I was the 5th in line and got a table in around 10 minutes. When you get your table, the servers will put your jacket into a bag so that it doesn't smell. You will also get a bib so that you don't splatter on your clothes. There is also ice cream at the end if you ask for it! One of the servers said that the Alaska Sweet Shrimp was the best menu item - I completely agree. "Ugh, another hotpot in Edison" well, not quite. Yes, and no. If it were your typical soup-and-cold cuts-stuff-and-go place then I wouldn't bother recommending, but this place is different. It has a touch of authenticity that surprised me. The wait time was nil which is nice considering it was a push Sunday. The broths are not your typical miso/tomato based (they do have those if not feeling adventurous), they had plenty of choices with varying spice levels. The meats and seafood were of high quality and the lobster was fresh (they are alive before bringing them to the table). Plenty of choices for roots, mushrooms and veggies, fish cakes, sashimi and rare additions. Great appetizers (highly recommend trying the drunken snails!). Many soft drink choices and a very decent sauce bar. The place was fairly quiet considering the theme but every now and then the staff would pop up with a boombox speaker and a glowing sign to sing happy birthday (not annoying and rather fun tbh). Staff was super friendly and service was fast. Price wise, not the cheapest, but definitely worth it. The BBQ is still not available, but hopefully soon. It'll definitely make for a great addition. At $58.95 per adult for 2 hours, we were a bit skeptical of the food quality and options. I went on a Saturday night with my family, and we were seated very quickly. However, it got busy fast. The place is casual, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I love that they gave us our own plastic bibs to shield from food splatters. The food was also delicious! We practically ordered everything that was available on the menu. It was AYCE (all you can eat), so we ordered quite a bit. The sashimi were so fresh and thick that we ordered large servings over and over again. In my experience of AYCE locations, they usually do not give you everything you order in case you do not finish it so you would have to reorder again if they missed something you really wanted. However, the staff gave us everything we ordered so we had a table full of food. To my surprise, this place had mantis shrimp and durian on the menu. We just absolutely had to get both. If you are a fan of durian, I suggested getting 2 orders. Each order comes with 4 pieces. I am not a big fan of durian but still ate 2 pieces. We were so full by the end of the 2 hours that we even forgot to look at the dessert section. Our servers were nice enough to let us order more. The service here is unmatched. Super attentive, I mumbled under my breath...I need a napkin, one of the server hands me a stack without me having to ask for it. One of my dining companions forgot to get a straw at the drink station and they were nice enough to bring one over. They changed our dirty plates a few times. Asked how everything was and if we wanted to order anything else round after round. As for the food, everything is fresh and delicious. What I love about this place is that there is so much to choose from on their tablet menu: seafood, meats, veggies, noodles, etc. Everything that you would expect at a hot pot, they have. The price at this ACYE hot pot is base on height. Came on a Sunday with a party of 4 adults and 3 kids and no lines. Very accommodating to kids as they are free and they can get ice cream, drink and fruits all for free. We were given the lobster which was bomb. The place is very clean and neat and the service was on point. Literally did everything without us asking. Food for kids was on point, they could get fries and octopus balls which my kids love. Parking lot is huge and they give free soft candy in the front. The desserts selection was huge. We got so much durian (frozen). The portions were huge and the sashimi salmon and shrimp were so tasty!. The sauce table was nice and clean.
