The food is delicious and authentic the lamb pot is very truthfully made! Love it. Service has been pretty nice too.

    Always worth filling the table

Chef Ge is my Favorite spot for real good Chinese food. Every dish is excellently made. The hand made home style noodles are reason to come any day.

The food tastes amazing, with fresh ingredients and a very clean environment. The lady who served us was kind and friendly, making the experience even better. I highly recommend trying the "Kou Shui Chicken" (Spicy Mouthwatering Chicken); it's flavorful and unforgettable!

Stir-Fried Chinese Baby Cabbage with Garlic noodles

Overall, I was very impressed with the authenticity and quality of each of the dishes! Each dish did not hesitate in delivering bold and mouth-numbing flavors. The baby cabbage was naturally sweet, but those garlic glass noodles were the real star! Powerful garlic flavor imbued in silky smooth noodles. The diced beef was wonderfully tender and juicy! The use of peppercorns ensured a powerful while also not overwhelming mouth numbing sensation. The homemade dumplings tasted just like how grandma makes it. Juicy pork and cabbage filling wrapped in a delightfully plump dough wrapper. The stir-fried chicken with lotus roots were heavenly! Chicken was tender and flavorful, lending its acidity from the pickled peppers. An overall must try dish! The fried pork belly certainly wasn't bad. However, there wasn't much pork flavor to come out from it. It ultimately just tasted like deep fried coating. As far as ambiance goes, the scenery of the restaurant is very relaxed and what you would expect from any Chinese restaurant. Overall, I really enjoyed all the dishes served at Chef Ge!

This is a new place that just recently opened up! It is very clean inside with plenty of seating. Service was great. The food was very tasty, but some of the items came out spicy when they were not marked as so on the menu. Even so, the food was delicious. Thanks!

Hot and Hot & Sour Fern Root Flat Noodle

Came here after some recommendations from friends, and we were pleasantly surprised! Authentic Chinese dishes and flavorful, but also has some creative twists. They have your classic dishes like Szechuan boiled fish/beef, Kung pao chicken, chicken/beef and broccoli etc. that are common in many Chinese restaurants. They also have a lot of unique dishes that I've never seen on other menus, which I think really makes them stand out. We've been here twice already, and here's what we ordered: Hot and sour fern noodles-10/10, great flavor, typical hot and sour noodle flavor, but with different noodles. Fern noodles are a little chewy, and these were cooked to the perfect texture. Golden Pepper Hemp Fish Soup-10/10, I haven't seen this dish before. Tender sliced fish, bean sprouts, and glass noodles in a golden, lightly numbing spicy broth. Cumin lamb-7/10, good flavor as well, but nothing super special. Pretty comparable to cumin lamb from other restaurants too. Chicken with potatoes/Da Pan Ji-8/10, this dish is also pretty common, but the noodles that they used were hand pulled (like biang biang noodles if you're familiar). This gives the noodles a perfectly chewy texture and better for the sauce to stick to. They were definitely my favorite part of the dish! Garlic and Spicy pork belly-10/10 this was so crispy without being super oily. Pork belly, especially fried, can tend to be very heavy, but this was not the case. Didn't have a ton of garlic or spicy flavor, seemed more like salt and pepper fried pork to me, but it was still delicious. Braised fish with homemade pancakes-10/10, this was a special of the day, and unfortunately I don't remember the actual name. Be careful because this fish has a lot of bones, but if you are ok with that, this is an amazing dish! The flavor is like a mildly spicier braised/Hong shao flavor. Pairs perfectly with the homemade pancakes that it comes with. The pancakes soak up the sauce, while still staying crispy. Overall, my family and I were very happy with all of the dishes we tried. Everything was flavorful, and not too expensive for the portion sizes either. We didn't think any of the dishes were too spicy, but we have a pretty high spice tolerance. If you come here, I would definitely recommend branching out and trying some dishes that other restaurants don't usually have. The staff was very friendly and helped answer our questions/give recommendations. I'm looking forward to our next visit here!

We usually ate at chef ge at least once a week. This time we took out a beef pepper corn fried rice. As I was eating it I saw a big fly in my fried rice. It was absolutely disgusting. But after I went back to the restaurant to ask if they can replace the dish, the owner/waitress was reluctant and asked me if the fly flew in while i was eating it even though the fly was obviously dead and mixed with the rice. In the end they replaced the fried rice for me. But I would not go back again with the bad service and attitude given how unsanitary their restaurant is and that they refused to take responsibility.

Kung Pao chicken over rice and Fried Rice Noodles W. Pork & Shrimp & Beef & Egg

Just finished their Kung Pao chicken over rice and the Fried Rice Noodles W. Pork & Shrimp & Beef & Egg for takeout. Last time we had their Garlic & Spicy Pork Belly, and Spicy Shrimp Dry Pot, also takeout. The main thing I really like is they make different types of spiciness. The Kung Pao chicken was more of a sweet spicy (still has heat), the shrimp dish has the dry hotpot spicy (strong heat), and the pork dish has the mala spicy (strong heat). Not only the meats, but also the veggies were well flavored. The fried rice noodles were the most boring, but I like that the noodles were moist. Points off for the chicken being dry in the noodle dish but at least they are generous with the amount of meat. I definitely will try more on their menu. I usually order by phone (they have limited English so speak slowly and clearly, or just order online) and I pick up within 20 minutes. It looks like a small family business. Not sure what's the deal with the robot in the restaurant.

Decent food and service. Family cooking taste which is hard to find in Edison. Would recommend.

They recently went through a renovation which made the space bigger and better. They now have more seating available and also a group room. We always get the same dish when we come here, but also sometimes explore. Our all time favorites are; Sautéed Pig Intestines in Hot chili oil - always crispy, the perfect spice and heat. Hearing that crunch just makes you want to eat more. Second, Shrimp ball with salted egg yolk - i don't know why but to me this dish is very comforting. It's crispy on the outside but very juicy on the inside. The shrimp is always cooked perfectly. They coat it in salted egg yolk which compliments the shrimp really well. I also love eating the shrimp chips that it comes with. Lastly, Wontons in Hot chili oil - be careful cause this for sure will burn your tongue because of how hot the meat inside the wonton is. Again, perfectly cooked. The wonton skin and meat ratio is perfect for me. We also use the chili oil to put over our rice and it makes our rice so flavorful. Overall, I don't think anything is going to stop me from ever coming back here. I've celebrated my boyfriend and I's anniversary here for the last 3 years and this place is always so dear to us. We are for sure coming back soon!

Although the decor is simple, the bold use of red and gold makes it highly memorable--and the space is very clean. Even though the bowls and chopsticks are disposable, there's clear attention to detail. The chopsticks feel great to use, and they are even engraved with "上海小笼," which is a thoughtful touch. The bowls are made of thick, sturdy paper, with a beautiful red base and gold rim--both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly. Ordering is done through a self-service kiosk, but there are still staff members nearby. When it's not busy, they are friendly and happy to assist with any questions. The Noodle in Scallion Sauce (上海葱油拌麵) has a rich scallion oil flavor with perfectly chewy noodles, while the Cold Noodle w. The service is very friendly and patient (and American friendly). The food comes out lightning fast. Everything is very reasonably priced. Best of all, it's all delicious. I tried stuff outside of my comfort zone and I loved it all. We were second standing outdoors waiting in this big fat long line. Immediately upon opening for the day the line nearly forced entry near stampede and this cafe was immediately packed to full occupancy of patrons with free seating. The Yelp reviews are accurate and truthful. The food is great. This is a small cafe with only approximately eight tables. I do not recommend large parties of five and greater. It is no-frills, but not exactly "hole in the wall" type that lack in aesthetics for upscale lavish atmosphere but the deficiency is resolved in the food quality. There is one sole functioning restroom in the whole business, ergo, stand in line and wait. We entered hungry in a lugubrious sense of deep sorrow, but exited hunger pangs fulfilled. When exiting upon completion of our lunch meal, there was a line that quickly formed outdoors waiting. Unfortunately, access to this cafe in Edison, NJ is by car only and there is a free parking lot that is shared with neighboring businesses located in a small shopping complex. There are no business cards, and no takeout menus available. Customer service is efficient as the staff worked methodically hustling busy to take orders and fulfillment. Our male waiter was attentive to respond to our inquiries and make suggestions based on our desires. I was able to keep the sales receipt. Price is in the rationale realm of stagflation totaling $41.75. Nota Bene: No table hibernation as the table turnover is fast pace with a line overflowing outdoors which cannot interrupt the flow. My foodie synopsis: Pork steam soup dumplings, 6 pcs, siu2 lung4 baau1, 小籠包, $8.75 Very juicy, flavorful and great. It was served piping hot. This is my favorite default dish for every visit at any Shanghainese ethnic cuisine. However, there were no serving tongs provided for this particular appetizer which is industry standard. Preserved cabbage with pork noodle soup, syut3 coi3 juk6 si1 min6, 雪菜肉絲麵 $9.50 This is a satisfying Chinese comfort food. This noodle soup was abundant with noodles, pork and chopped vegetables. It provided warmth to my very broken heart. Shanghai chicken in wine sauce, zeoi3 gai1, 醉雞, $8.95 A traditional Chinese cold appetizer, aka Chinese Drunken chicken made with Chinese Shaoxing cooking wine. It has amazing flavor and texture to be deliciously enticing. Of course, the cooking wine brings flavor to this appetizer making you want more. Shanghai pan fried U-Don noodle, soeng6 hoi2 cou1 caau2 min6, 上海粗炒面, $11.95 Abundant noodles with good consistency and it not heavily filled with grease and oil.
