Crossing Bridge noodles (delivery)
Amy A.

Ordered the Crossing Bridge noodles for delivery. They separate the noodles but ALL the toppings are mixed in the soup itself, so unfortunately the beef is overcooked. I would like it more if they can separate the toppings like they do in the restaurant. Flavor of tonkatsu broth is good.

Their portions are very generous, and the tomato broth is flavorful--a perfect choice for a cold day. The staff is attentive, and I appreciate how the menu provides instructions on how to cook and enjoy the noodle soup. The chicken is tender, and I loved the chili oil drizzled on top. The seasoning on the cucumbers was delicious, but the vegetables lost their texture; it seemed like they had been soaked in the sauce for too long and lost their crunch. Overall, it's a comforting meal that warms you up when the weather is chilly.

Solid place to go on a cold day - their portions are very generous and their broth is delicious! I usually go with the original noodle soup, it reminds me of homemade bone broth soup and comes with plenty of meat and other toppings. Beware that their spicy noodles are VERY spicy Their wait staff is kind and attentive. The interior is small and clean, it's never been noisy when I've visited with my family. They import their rice noodles directly from China so the quality is great and you won't get it anywhere else. Recommend this place!

E2- Hot green pepper soup rice noodle with fish fillet

I come to this place for a hot bowl of noodle soup any season of the year! Recently I came in a hot day in August and the noodle soup made my day! Ambiance - spacious - plenty of seating - something about the artwork on the walls and the furniture color makes the place feel really cozy Service - friendly staff - fast and timely service Food - Hot green pepper soup rice noodle with fish fillet: I asked for less spicy because their spicy soups are SPICY. If you love spice go ahead and get the full spice version! This soup is brimming with fish fillet, cabbage, dried tofu, wood ear mushrooms, tofu fish cakes and many other toppings that I can't name. The broth is also quite full bodied and flavorful! The green pepper adds a slight numbing heat to each scoop of soup - Mango green tea: this was so refreshing! It tastes more like a mango and mixed fruit juice rather than a tea. I was also pleasantly surprised that there were popping bobas at the bottom of the drink! I've already gotten food here multiple times and you bet that I'll come back soon!

An underrated Yunnan noodles place! I'm not sure if it's authentic, but the food was quite flavorful and portions generous. Service was also great and the place was cute. Would come back again - especially when it gets cold!

I came here to try out the new noodle shop and it was just OK to me. It was not all that amazing. The staff: They asked us if we were ready to order and kept rushing us when it was our first time being here and we literally sat down for 5 minutes. Later on some good staff members came by and suggested some menu items and told us which ones were too spicy and etc. Popcorn chicken: I feel like this did not have enough flavor and it just didn't have that crisp popcorn chicken taste. This dish definitely needs more work and taste. Golden Hot and Sour Rice Noodle Soup: This actually had some good flavors and was appetizing to me. The only thing is that the portion is too small such as it did not have enough noodles to fill me up. I guess I should have gotten the extra noodles for myself. Shi Miaodao Famous: According to one of my daughters, this one was not that tasty at all. It could have tasted a lot better with more effort in it. Overall: The price just isn't worth the portion of the food. They need to have staff members that ask if this is your first time here and then assist them. They also need to teach the staff to not rush the customers to order the food which can make them leave.

We have been regulars for about a year now so I'm going to give this place 5 stars. The food is good and service is consistently friendly. The wall decor is nice too.

Went back again and got a photo of it before its all polished off. Nice to have consistency in the dishes made. Server was very friendly and accommodating.

The noodles were good...the broth was very flavorful. Service was quick. They were very nice and were able to replace one of the ingredients because I didn't eat it. Also, there's a discount if you paid cash.

Nothing to complain while nothing to highlight either: A classical noodle soup restaurant, a little bit over priced but definitely a good stop for healthy "fast food".

I got their R9 (Golden Hot and Sour Rice Noodle Soup) and I realized that this could be a booming restaurant sans covid. I wish that I could have dined in for this experience; the idea was to have separate side dishes and combine them into the soup if you liked. The takeout R9 was somewhat disappointing because of the limited packaging, but I still enjoyed the food nonetheless. Since my experience is takeout, I will rate based on that. When I opened the box, I realized it was MULTI-LAYERED. HOW COOL IS THAT? After you open the lid, there's a smaller container of noodles which you remove to unveil the soup! The restaurant placed all the side dishes inside the soup (i.e. quail egg, beef, chicken wing, tofu, etc) and honestly, the dish became more of a treasure chest than it was food. I took my time with the noodles, taking as much or as little as I wanted to place inside the never-ending soup. When I dug out noodles, I also uncovered some side dishes, and my friends and I had a great deal of fun comparing what we got! I ended up with so much soup that I will be using tomorrow for lunch LOL. I will also say that their noodles are great. We phoned in our order, and the order was ready in 20 minutes, but we arrived 40 minutes later. The food was still really hot afterward when we got back to the apartment, and the noodles weren't soggy at all. The popcorn chicken lacked in heat (probably our fault) and serving size (could be due to the constraints of the container) but nonetheless was tasty. I would rate this place a 9.5/10 because I really want to come back when indoor dining is allowed. The experience would be so amazing! Thanks for being in business and bringing food to the table :)

As we park right in front of the restaurant, I look up at the signage..."Crossing the Bridge". I thought it was such an odd name for a Chinese restaurant. Not odd, mom, my "Quiz Bowl Player" son said. There's actually a story behind it. The name comes from a famous legendary love story from Yunnan, China. The young gentleman was said to go across the bridge to an island to study for his exams. His lady wanted him to have a nourishing hot meal so he could study better. She would bring all the ingredients separately to him to keep things fresh and assemble the meals when she reached him so everything was hot. He credits his passing of his exams to his loving companion. This story has passed through generations and have become a story of endearment and an expression of love. I was "wowed" by the cute presentation of these noodles. You can either do it yourself or they will happily put the ingredients in the hot bowl for you. Let me warn you...the boiling bowls are hot, it cooks the stuff right away. Some of the little things in the dishes that I enjoyed were the pork fat, quail egg, fish cakes and lettuce. My noodle bowl consisted of a chicken drumstick, my son had beef and chicken wings. My son and I also had their Brown Sugar Milk Tea...we enjoyed it very much. We asked for very little sugar and it was perfect. Service was super friendly and the place was completely packed by the time we left. 2/14/20 - I love you to the moon and back and back again! Always and forever as one my love! I will cross that bridge for you as long as I can! XoXo Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Ordered takeout but found three bugs in my soup container.

A casual dine in spot with ample amount of seating. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share and we liked all of them. We got the stinky tofu (not as stinky as you would get in Taiwan but still good), Taiwanese fried chicken, oyster pancake, crispy fried intestine, beef noodle soup, & pork rice cake. Our favorites were the fried pork intestines (fried to perfection), oyster pancake, & beef noodle soup.

Although not easy to find on the tail end of a nondescript commercial strip, we saw its sign and walked in to a decent sized dining room with a half dozen booths along one wall and about a dozen tables spread across the remainder. Plenty of original watercolors displayed and for sale on the walls. David the proprietor seemed to be handling most of the operation himself. He sat us, took our order, disappeared into the kitchen to participate in its preparation and served our four courses to us in traditional style - separately as ready. The food was excellent. We chose from both the lunch and regular menu, which were integrated seamlessly. Fried Pork Chop, Crispy Fried Intestine, Fish Fillets in Chili Sauce from the mains, and Orange Beef from the lunch list. I started with Hot &Sour Soup, which was flavorful and loaded with tofu, sprouts, pork slivers and potent vinegar. Loved it! The Pork Chop was deboned and pressed thin. The result was a crisp sliced Katsu-like cutlet with nice flavor and long crunchy chew. The Intestine was also crisp and filled with green beans that mixed well with the hardened shell and soft innards. Not my fave, but my lovely partner ate it enthusiastically. The Fish and Chili was very good, with tender lightly breaded white fish fillets and red chili sauce that included small pieces of celery, sprouts and cabbage, in a large bowl. Finally, the lunch sized Orange Beef was delicious with sweet and spicy amber sauce coating the pieces of lightly crisped beef. Ubiquitous broccoli sprigs added color to the dish. Service was friendly and accommodating. David was happy to interact and talk about his business there. Red Onion is a Five Star keeper.

I tried one topped with a wasabi/ginger foam (wish I remembered the name!) and the Hazy Tea cocktail that comes in a kettle -- both were fantastic. My wife ordered the Lavender Martini and loved it so much she got it twice. Now the food... amazing. We ordered the paneer dumplings, and I genuinely could have ordered them three more times. They were THAT good. The steamed dumplings were solid too. I got the Lamb Roganjosh, which was flavorful and came in a generous portion. My wife ordered the Side Chicken -- which I happily helped her with -- and the Chicken Biryani, which she enjoyed (a little spicy, but delicious). For dessert, we tried the tres leches and the Indian Neapolitan ice cream. The ice cream, especially the pistachio flavor, was incredible -- rich, creamy, and so unique. Overall, this was a 10/10 experience. The ambiance, the drinks, the food, the portions -- everything exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be back! We were second standing outdoors waiting in this big fat long line. Immediately upon opening for the day the line nearly forced entry near stampede and this cafe was immediately packed to full occupancy of patrons with free seating. The Yelp reviews are accurate and truthful. The food is great. This is a small cafe with only approximately eight tables. I do not recommend large parties of five and greater. It is no-frills, but not exactly "hole in the wall" type that lack in aesthetics for upscale lavish atmosphere but the deficiency is resolved in the food quality. There is one sole functioning restroom in the whole business, ergo, stand in line and wait. We entered hungry in a lugubrious sense of deep sorrow, but exited hunger pangs fulfilled. When exiting upon completion of our lunch meal, there was a line that quickly formed outdoors waiting. Unfortunately, access to this cafe in Edison, NJ is by car only and there is a free parking lot that is shared with neighboring businesses located in a small shopping complex. There are no business cards, and no takeout menus available. Customer service is efficient as the staff worked methodically hustling busy to take orders and fulfillment. Our male waiter was attentive to respond to our inquiries and make suggestions based on our desires. I was able to keep the sales receipt. Price is in the rationale realm of stagflation totaling $41.75. Nota Bene: No table hibernation as the table turnover is fast pace with a line overflowing outdoors which cannot interrupt the flow. My foodie synopsis: Pork steam soup dumplings, 6 pcs, siu2 lung4 baau1, 小籠包, $8.75 Very juicy, flavorful and great. It was served piping hot. This is my favorite default dish for every visit at any Shanghainese ethnic cuisine. However, there were no serving tongs provided for this particular appetizer which is industry standard. Preserved cabbage with pork noodle soup, syut3 coi3 juk6 si1 min6, 雪菜肉絲麵 $9.50 This is a satisfying Chinese comfort food. This noodle soup was abundant with noodles, pork and chopped vegetables. It provided warmth to my very broken heart. Shanghai chicken in wine sauce, zeoi3 gai1, 醉雞, $8.95 A traditional Chinese cold appetizer, aka Chinese Drunken chicken made with Chinese Shaoxing cooking wine. It has amazing flavor and texture to be deliciously enticing. Of course, the cooking wine brings flavor to this appetizer making you want more. Shanghai pan fried U-Don noodle, soeng6 hoi2 cou1 caau2 min6, 上海粗炒面, $11.95 Abundant noodles with good consistency and it not heavily filled with grease and oil.

If you're in NJ and craving Hong Kong-style wonton noodle soup, head to Wonton Guy in Edison. It's a no-frills local gem tucked away in a tiny strip mall off Route 27, with a few parking spots out front and more in the back. The space is small (only 10 tables!) and nothing fancy, but the value is hard to beat. It's always busy, and after you take your first slurp of the soup, you'll get why. Service is fast, so the tables turn over quickly. I was able to grab a seat when I walked in on a Saturday evening. The menu is simple and offers 3 main options: 1.) noodle soup with toppings 2.) soup with toppings (no noodles) 3.) lo mein with toppings served with soup on the side From there, you pick your noodle type (egg, flat rice, vermicelli), as well as up to 3 toppings (wontons, dumplings, beef brisket, etc.). There are also a few side dishes like shredded pork in chili tomato sauce, deep fried fish skin, and curry fish balls. They even sell some items raw like wontons, noodles, dumplings, and sliced beef. And the best part is... the prices are very affordable! Most of the dishes are around $11-$16. My order: *Two Toppings (wonton + beef brisket) Noodle Soup [$12.75] - Where do I begin? Every single part of this meal SLAPPED. The wontons were MUMBO JUMBO and generously filled with fresh, plump shrimp that were sweet and juicy. The noodles were soft and springy. The beef brisket was SO tender with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. And the broth? Super rich, aromatic, and savory. It's made of shrimp skin, pork bone, dried flounder fish, dried shrimp, and dried monk fruit, but it doesn't taste fishy at all. Each table is stocked with condiments like vinegar, homemade chili oil, and soy sauce to customize your soup. The chili oil packs some SERIOUS HEAT, so watch out. This was hands down one of the best noodle soups I've had. I was sad when I finished it :-( *Hong Kong-style Milk Tea [$6] - I really enjoyed this! The black tea was bold and strong--almost too strong for me, but the milk balanced it out nicely. I only wish it had boba! Everything tasted authentic. Quick backstory: The owner comes from a family with GENERATIONS of experience making wontons and running noodle shops in Hong Kong. He grew up there and brought those family traditions to his own restaurants in Toronto... and now Edison. All those years of experience clearly show in his food. The broth is simmered overnight, and the wontons are freshly prepared every morning. No shortcuts here--just decades of tradition, skill, and a whole lot of love in every bowl. Ugh, I wish I lived closer because I'd be a regular. It's hard these days to find a place that REALLLLLLY delivers a memorable meal that's both tasty, reasonably priced, and served in generous portions. If you're within driving distance and debating whether it's worth the trip--DON'T! Wonton Guy is absolutely worth a visit, even if it's just once. I drove an hour to try it, and I still think about those wontons all the time... no joke LOL.
