First of all, I want to say that their noodle dishes are delicious, so the stars are not being knocked due to their flavor and taste. The cucumber salad could have been better though, but let's move on; for such an establishment, I was hoping that they had enough utensils and cups to serve. I came here a handful of times, this last time would probably be the last for awhile. We sat down and we were not served with water until we have gotten our meal. We have asked them a few times to refill water as well. Seems like their servers didn't want to serve. On top of that, during hot weather... Please turn up the AC, I was extremely uncomfortable eating hot foods while sitting in 80 degrees temperatures. I hope they update their units. Since winter is fast approaching, this is probably not a priority but I hope that they read their review of this and take it to heart. read more

The Lizhou spicy noodles also known as river snail noodles or Luosifen are a must-order here! It is the perfect balance of spicy, sour, and savory. I got the enhanced version and it was two full meals. It was loaded with fried tofu skin, pickled bamboo shoots, pickled string beans, tofu puffs, beef, peanuts, and vegetables. For appetizers, I recommend the tripe in spicy chili oil. Wow, the tripe was light and smooth and not too spicy. I could eat many dishes of this. This shop is a bit unassuming and looks like a hole in the wall. The staff don't really speak English so you will have to just point at the menu to order what you want. Hidden gem I just randomly went into one day. Very pleased I picked this spot. In and out in less than 30 min Our waiter was very nice and helpful. But I will say he messed up our order and gave one us beef intestine soup when we ordered normal beef. A little cozy restaurant close to H-mart. We went on a Sunday during lunch and it wasn't too busy, not too slow either. We came specifically for the River Snail soup noodles (螺蛳粉) and it did not disappoint! It was delicious, and it was just right. Not too spicy, not too greasy, not too sour, just perfect. We also ordered a few other dishes like the duck roll, spicy chicken feet, octopus rings, and a 老友粉. All delicious. For noodle lovers, takers of spice and those whom really want that authentic Chinese taste to kick your salivary glands, this spot is one to try. Noodle time main dishes focuses on the Chinese rice noodle (quite literally the translation). It takes on the impression of broth from different regions of China and brings it home to us here in Edison. The broth is what makes the noodle done here special and it pairs well with assorted meats that can be warmed up in the soup. We got the two noodle main dishes of 1) lao you fen and 2) liu you fen, both we recommend. There isn't a lot of protein so for those who would like more, definitely go for the beef or pig ear to eat with it! You just can't go wrong with that combination! I have been coming to this noodle shop for years and now I will finally write my review. Cleanliness: The restaurant is very clean and they have a hand sanitizer for customers to use. Staff: The waitress is friendly and helpful with the menu. Cucumber Cold Dish w/ Garlic: This is very delicious and was better than we thought. Marinated pig ears: This was actually better than I had expected as well. Shredded pork with Szechuan pickles and noodles: This is by far my favorite noodle soup dish. You get more than what you pay for here. These five dishes combined costed $53 including tip and taxes. In terms of taste, I really really enjoyed the spicy rice noodles and the fried shrimp. Rest were just okay. Beef and tripe mostly just had tripe. The shredded pork noodles was a little salty and the flavor profile was bland compared to the spicy rice noodles. Bean curd was good, but not memorable. However, I would definitely still recommend this place and would come back again. They served spoiled pork once. I could smell the sourness and tell it's not from vinegar. They replaced it with marinated beef to make it up. No apologies, it's okay, I don't expect it from that waitress anyways which I'll address later. The beef was no where near fresh and super salty. Noodle was great. I can't say I'm a huge fan. I've been there 3 or 4 times, actually way more than I would say I like the place to be going so often. The reason is my wife loves it. Like loves loves, would drive 40 minutes just to eat it and come home, loves it. She's from China, but I'm American born. I don't really like the harder rice noodle, which is happy with. The signature dish is the river snails soup thingie, i can't recall the name, but it's got a spicy fermented flavor. I normally am, okay with spice, but this is a strong like spice smoke flavor. I can't breathe in the fumes without coughing on it, so it makes it difficult for me to eat the noodles hot. I think you can get less spicy if you remember, but i'm just not that huge a fan. We arrived at 9 pm, an hour before close. We had spent the whole day at NY, and walked some seven miles or so. We ate a bit there, but of course everything is expensive. Coming here was a relief, not only to the wallet but our hungry stomachs. Don't be fooled, like I was. During the night, the place outside looks like a rundown restaurant, with a couple neon signs and blinds down. However, the inside is brightly lit and has the vibe of an honest Chinese restaurant: strange decor and seasonal music. There was a Christmas song playing. These are the signs of a good Chinese restaurant ; the owner is most likely more focused on the food than what the place looks like. Also, the majority of customers were Asian, another good sign. So this was my first time here, parents second time here. There was a two week period between their visits yet the waitress remembered who we were and what we ordered. Wow. We ordered four noodles: 23, 26, 28 and 31 on the classic noodle menu. Two of them don't have the English translation, so I'll just put the numbers here. My wife and I ordered the lunch special for 2 for $16.99. You are entitled to a cucumber app or tofu app and a noodle or rice dish, except the Liuzhou noodle soup. Most of the rice and noodle dishes are already around $8.50, so it was a no brainer. The special also comes with a green bean dessert soup. Both of us enjoyed our noodle dishes. I had the oxtail noodle soup, and my wife, the beef tendon noodle soup made spicy. The oxtail noodle soup came with about 4 medium pieces of oxtail, half an egg, a few pieces of bok choy, a slice of tomato. It came in a clear broth with a hint of white pepper flavor. Both dishes were nothing out of this world but it was a solid meal. The service was decent. Tea were refilled and they came quickly when flagged down. All of these dishes were good. The prices here are also a little less than Tasty Moment. We went with the dishes we were familiar with but I have to say, other people had some very interesting looking soups I wished we had ordered. These soups were loaded with ingredients like hard boiled egg, tofu skin and lots of other stuff. There are 2 women serving the entire place. Make things easier for yourself and just park at the lot behind the building. FOOD: 正宗柳州螺蛳粉/Liuzhou-style Spicy Noodle Soup (#24--$8.25): Loved it and would certainly order again. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the amount of chili oil added in both bowls ordered was perfect. As for the rice noodles, they were plentiful and the chewiness was exactly what I expected. As another reviewer mentioned, this noodle soup is well-garnished with slices of meat, tofu puffs, bean curd skin, crunchy peanuts, a marinated egg, and bok choy among other ingredients. 干炒牛肉乌冬面/Pan-fried Beef Udon (#46--$8.50): I merely tasted it, but I found it to be quite flavorful. I've ordered pan fried wu dong noodles elsewhere, and Noodle's Time's is just as delicious. Seeing a beautifully garnished bowl of noodle soup, I got attracted to Noodle's Time and dragged my friend along to dine here. Since it's called Noodle's Time, we both got a bowl: Liuzhou (me) and Gullin (~$8), and we also shared a pork bun (~$5). The diced pork was marinated with tasty sauce with a hint of sweetness and sandwiched between a not too airy bun. It was good and got my hunger switch on! I was so happy when my noodle soup came shortly! The broth was flavorful with a little spicy kick to it, and the noodles were just right (not too soft or hard). Also, the noodle soup was generously topped with tofu, beef, and assorted veggies! It was a wonderful meal! The service was good too. They'd come often to check on us, and they were very attentive. our household loves noodle's time; in fact, we're on our way out to get some now. Guangxi is a provincial neighbor to my home province (yunnan), and we both love spicy rice noodles with soup! The soup noodles have been consistently amazing--if you don't find this, their specialty dish, flavorful, i really worry about the extent to which you've damaged your taste buds. if your taste buds are in good working order, i don't think you'll be disappointed. the rich and delicious *snail* broth and a sprinkling of preserved bamboo add an exotic (and perhaps to some, stinky) element. surprisingly, snail broth does not have a very "strange" flavor; it's distinctive, but not odd in the way that say lamb might be to people who've only eaten American chicken/beef for most of their lives. in other words, even the more trepidatious eater should venture ahead. we usually get #24, liu zhou rice noodles with soup, which we affectionately term "snail soup"; you have the option to make it mild, medium or hot. the hot (da la "big hot") is no joke so beware. the presentation is beautiful and makes the eating experience even more satisfying. when we are feeling a bit fancy, we upgrade to #25, which is the same as #24 but with a side dish of actual snails--stir fried, spicy snails. this side dish takes a bit of patience to eat so make sure you have time and are not afraid to make your fingers messy. i leisurely pick out the snails and think back to the time i had a giant potful by a lake in yunnan. good times. other favorites (which do not have English names) are #30, Guanxi spicy and sour cold noodles. this dish is a bit "stinky" because of the generous use of preserved bamboos. also #28 nanning old friend noodle soup, and #27 Guilin rice noodles with soup. these last two soup noodles do not use snail broth, i believe. basically, try what they're good at first. i never cease to be amazed at people's tendency to ignore recommendations and then complain about the quality of generic Chinese food items that they insist on ordering. no one to blame but yourself. sorry! i rarely get appetizers because the soups are very generously portioned. if i do, it's usually #5, grandma's salty chicken or the spicy duck necks. some of the cold dishes are a bit lackluster. in any case, expect to dine with a lot of native Chinese folks. that's always a good sign right? I ordered the House New Style Beef Noodle with soup for take-out Amazing!! - Beef - super tender (mostly meat with some tendon), great portion!, rich flavor- the kind of smokey, 5-spice taste you can never replicate at home. The soy marinated half egg was very flavorful and satisfying. - Broth - rich, flavorful, slightly tangy. It's supposed to be spicy but I didn't think it was. It just had a nice spice to it. Nice Shanghai bok choy additions too. - Noodles - fresh, good texture, good bite - Service - the lady out front was extremely friendly and offered me suggestions when I asked about what to order. She speaks Mando but understands canto. Didnt wait long for my order at 7:30pm on a Friday night. 3 other people came to pick up their orders. Everyone else seemed to order the Liuzhou spicy rice noodle. Guess I'll have to try that next time! Also ordered a beef pad Thai. Gee - with that logic why not give Starbucks a 1 star review for not selling milk shakes? Back on topic - Noodle Time is AWESOME. I visited yesterday and had a bowl of Liuzhou noodles. It is somewhat spicy, but I can handle it. It was pretty delicious! I also am recovering from a cold. I think it was great comfort food especially since I am Chinese and I miss the food of my people. I dont get to eat that much unless I am home or NYC. Service was okay. I dont have any complaints. Parking is scarce so it much better if you park in the back. Also, if you dont speak fluent Chinese, it may be difficult to fully communicate with the servers. This is my hubby and I's favorite spot to go to during lunch, dinner, when the weather is cold, hot, or watever it is! Personally, we only come here for their noodles, House Beef noodle soup! I've tasted sooo many noodle soups from different restaurants in jersey and nyc cause i'm a noodle freak and a foodie and this is THE BEST of them all in my opinion. They give a good amount of slice beef thats well seasoned and the noodlesss... nice chewy texture which to me looks like homemade. But you GOT to ask for their chili oil when eating the noodle soup (i put 4 or 5 tbsp cause i like mine spicy and oily). It's what makes the soup extra good! Must come and try their noodle soups.
