My family loves this place! It's our go-to spot for delicious and authentic Asian food and always…read morehits the spot. The soup dumplings are a MUST-order, and this time we ordered a few different things to share. Highly recommend the beef tomato egg rice- so tender and so well-cooked, the fried oysters were delicately fried and savory and fresh, and the enoki tofu cucumber salad was delightful and well-balanced, pairs really well wit the fried oysters. The staff are always extremely fast and responsive despite all the busyness.

The staff was also outstanding, coming to clarify my order with me and checking for any allergies. The girls at the front check in desk were also very friendly and helped me sign up for the wait list. HOWEVER, in the midst of my dinner I witnessed something very disturbing. While I was eating my dinner, I heard some yelling going on and noticed a scene in front of me. The manager/owner was loudly berating his staff members in the dining area and threw his phone at the front desk counter. I think that is extremely unprofessional to do in front of staff and customers. If you have to have a serious conversation with your staff you should not be doing that in front of dining customers. That left a bad impression in me and I don't think I'll be coming back.

I've come here multiple times with my family, and it's always packed, even on weekday evenings when…read morewe go. The best on their menu is their combo set. Depending on how big your party is, you can order a combo for 2,3,4+ people, and the portion is generous! You can then pick how many toppings you want in your broth, and what sides you want. There are 3 broths to choose from, with 2 spicy, and 1 tomato (non spicy). The toppings can include vegetables like bok choy or enoki, all the way to glass noodles and spam. My favorite sides are the fried pork belly, and fried chicken wings. They do their fried foods well, and the 5 spice dipping powder is sooo good with it. Their cucumber salad, and the black noodles are cold dishes that are light and refreshing. The noodles are a bit on the sour side, so it's great to pair if you get a spicier or oilier soup. You can also pick from fish, beef or a combo. I'm from a seafood family, but surprisingly we pick beef most times. It's soo tender and it soaks up the flavors very well. It's worth a visit! You should definitely come try :)

We decided on the small pot with beef and 2 sides special. For a combo that fed 2 people with leftovers to spare it was a good deal. The small pot is quite large. We got to choose some premium ingredients such as king oyster mushrooms and wide starch noodles. The deal came with a choice of 2 sides so we got fried pork belly and takoyaki. Both arrived pretty fresh and piping hot, not stale. The main course of the small pot we chose with mild spicy flavor. It had a good numbing spicy kick though it a hint of the greasy taste that turns me off a little bit with these types of dishes. It wasn't overwhelmingly greasy, thankfully. There was a generous amount of beef and mushrooms as well as noodles. Overall a great meal at a good price.

This restaurant features a minimalist Shanghai-style design, centered around a striking red and…read moregold color palette. Although the decor is simple, the bold use of red and gold makes it highly memorable--and the space is very clean. Even though the bowls and chopsticks are disposable, there's clear attention to detail. The chopsticks feel great to use, and they are even engraved with "上海小笼," which is a thoughtful touch. The bowls are made of thick, sturdy paper, with a beautiful red base and gold rim--both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly. Ordering is done through a self-service kiosk, but there are still staff members nearby. When it's not busy, they are friendly and happy to assist with any questions. The Noodle in Scallion Sauce (上海葱油拌麵) has a rich scallion oil flavor with perfectly chewy noodles, while the Cold Noodle w. Peanut Butter Sauce (麻將涼拌麵) is packed with a strong peanut flavor and equally chewy texture. Both dishes are delicious and taste very similar to Taiwanese sesame noodles. Every dish is served fresh and hot, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. Whenever I'm in Edison, I can't help but come back to try more items on the menu.

So I came to Shanghai Dumpling for a late lunch and recently came here with a group of six. We…read moreended up coming for a very early dinner so we had almost the whole place to ourselves. While the food was still pretty good, my wife, son and I had ordered: - The soup dumplings - Pork and spicy pork regular dumplings - Some of the cooked buns - Cucumbers Our friends had ordered something similar and they seemed to enjoy it as well. One thing that I was not really thrilled about is the lack of plates at the establishment. We did ask for some extra containers since they didn't have plates, but you can really get a feel that this place has shifted the experience from being dine-in to more takeout-based. All of the containers and plates are these paper plates that do tend to leak with enough time. As the bok choy we ordered had a soy-based sauce it was prepared with and that started leaking out of the paper container. All in all, still a good dumpling spot and the service was okay. The staff was friendly, but really the only thing they're doing is bringing you the food to the table. They don't check on you and you order from a kiosk now. So the overall dining experience in my opinion has gone down overall. If you're ordering takeout, I'm sure none of this applies will your food will be good, but just the dine-in experience is not what it used to be.
