Came back to this dimsum spot after 15+ years give or take and was really disappointed. Not all the pictures show everything ordered, but a few items to note.....The egg tart was soggy and overly sweet, har gow skin was sticky with fishy shrimp, and har cheung had the same issue with tough skin. Lotus leaf rice wrap had barely any filling, and the chicken bun was mostly dough with almost no chicken. The coconut jelly did not have any coconut taste to it. Also ordered an egg fried rice on the side, and rice was all soggy. Very disappointing and all went downhill from the very first bite. I believe the only thing that stood out as good was the tea.

Chinese restaurant @ Edison, NJ We used to come here for dim sum on weekends but stop coming after covid19 pandemic and ownership change. We were here Saturday around 1pm and didn't have to wait for the table. The place looked pretty same as before, noticed there was a special dinner packages for six people which we would like to try with other family members. We had shrimp roll, steamed bean curd, tripe with ginger, steamed Chinese broccoli and pan fried shrimp and chives. Everything was tastier than the ones at Golden seafood restaurant where the wait is long and have to share table with strangers. We will be back for another dim sum brunch soon!

We drove about an hour to get here on a cold, windy, rainy Saturday morning and, well, we should have took the weather as sign because, disappointingly, our 1st time here was ... well ... you guessed it, a disappointment. I say this like a broken record, but I grew up in NYC and went to every good dim sum restaurant known to every dim sum aficionado in the 5 boroughs, as well as across the U.S. and abroad, and we just have not seen many NJ dim sum restaurants live up to it's easternly neighbor's standard. We were really hoping Wonder would be one of the few to be just as good as any dim sum restaurant we've been to, but, most of the main dim sum dishes just lacked flavor. Rarely, do we ever complain or does ANYONE complain about lack of salt in Chinese food, but, for some reason, most of the dishes we ordered was lacking that. From the dim sum carts (which I do love when they're going around), we ordered shrimp dumplings/har gow, pork dumplings/siu mai, chicken feet, turnip cake, shrimp rice noodle rolls, beef rice noodle rolls, molten egg custard buns, BBQ pork buns, spring rolls, stuffed eggplant and stuffed peppers, chive and shrimp dumplings and sticky rice. Let's just say they had a lot of the usual suspects you can order, which was nice to see. Most of the dim sum was just OK and some of it was downright ehhhh. I will say there were 2 major highlights though - the molten egg custard buns were smokin' hot, specifically the egg custard, which is what you hope for when you bite into that nice soft bun. The 2nd highlight was the BBQ pork bun. I mean, my goodness, it might have been one of the top 2-3 BBQ pork buns I ever had, period! It didn't hurt that it was served super fresh and that the BBQ pork was steamin' hot. Also, the buns were glazed and sticky with some sweetness, which actually made a world of difference. Both are most gets in my opinion. Overall, service was friendly inside and there were multiple carts circling while we were there. We arrived only a few minutes after they opened for service at 11am and easily got a table without a wait and, in fact, there was such quick turnover that we only saw a few people actually wait a little bit for a table. It was actually quite shocking that there was really no wait at all on a Saturday afternoon. Not sure if it's like that every weekend, but, if you're looking to be able to sit down right away for dim sum, this is your spot - just be prepared to know that it might be a bit sub-par depending on your experience and standards.

Simple dim sum restaurant in Edison. They were open on July 4th and there was no wait. Like most dim sum places, the food came out in carts. We just ordered the standard dim sum dishes but they do have a menu for non-dim sun items. They have very fresh seafood (still swimming in the tank)! Food was good but nothing mind blowing. The chicken feet was a little too sweet. Fast service. Typical dim sum restaurant vibe with the banquet tables and a stage for weddings or big parties.

We ate dinner here with my family. We ordered a bunch of entrees and shared it with everyone. My favorite was the deep fried crispy chicken, crispy roast pork and the vegetable fried rice. Also, i dont know where they get their oranges but I love it so much it was sweet and juicy. Very hard to talk to staff because they couldnt understand what we were saying.

NO WONDER the parking lot and dining room was not as packed as usual. The family has been coming here for years. Since I am not local anymore, It has been only on occasion. Craving the walnut mayonnaise jumbo shrimp, my all time favorite there, i decided to bring some home for dinner. The friendly old man that had always welcomed us was not there and replaced by new faces with very little enthusiasm to greet and process my order. The shrimp was just ok, not as amazing as it usually is. The shrimps did not seem so jumbo and the mayo sauce was not the same consistency. I wonder if it is the same owners? Time to find a new fav walnut mayo shrimp spot.

The dim sum is still excellent and the service is still uneven. They even have "soupy" dumplings on the menu but not much soup and eat them quickly before the soup evaporates. I'd pass on those dumplings next time but could eat the Sui Mai and Beef Balls daily.

My partner suggested this location for dinner and I gave him props once we entered. The decor reminded me of the restaurants in Chinatown Chicago- around the 1990s. It was a great throwback and it felt comfortable and welcoming. We ordered a spicy pork dish and spicy shrimp dish. For soup, we had beef and Chinese parsley. The small order has four servings. At the beginning of the meal, you get a snack of garlic fried peanuts. Looking forward to having more dinners here!

Tofu and Fish hotpot: Fried white fish, fried tofu, string beans, bell peppers in a sauce that is probably reduced chicken stock. I'm biased since it's one of my favorite chinese dishes. I don't know when this specific dish is amazing, but I can tell you when it's bad. Green Lake's version is anything but bad. Shrimp Stuffed Tofu: We were given a sample since they were trying something new. The sauce is similar to the tofu hotpot but has a porkier feel because of the ground pork within the dish. The tofu is the same, but the way they fried it is different, so it took a step up. The shrimp was fine, and I think they should have this on their menu. Whole Fried Chicken: It's fine. Didn't love it. There's no batter to speak of at all, and you're reliant on the spicy sauce and ginger sauce provided. Stir Fried French Beans w/ Salted Fish: Crunchy French Beans, and very salty salted fish. Not my favorite, but it keeps things different. Hot prawn salad with broccoli: The broccoli was just boiled. Nothing to talk about. The pawn was fried and bathed in mayonnaise. What's not to like? Pork Chop: This is another Chinese restaurant staple. 85% of the chinese porkchops that you eat will taste the same. This one is no different. Hokkien Fried Rice: My chinese restaurant guilty pleasure. How else can you get a shrimp fried rice bathed in an umami sauce? The restaurant did a really good job with this and I'm glad that I asked if they had it (in chinese). Service: It was a slow night, so we had all the attention that our table needed. Ambiance: The location is big and can support small families to larger gatherings. They have a private area that fits 30+ people, so they look like the go-to spot for parties.

They roll the carts through the restaurant offering lots of dumplings, soups, noodle dishes and more. We loved everything except the Turnip Cake was way too salty. Someone dumped salt or too much soy sauce onto this dish. Also we were offered vegetarian dumplings that had some greens in it, but was mostly pork. Be sure to ask about the ingredients if you don't want pork or meat in a dish. We've been here before and all other dishes were great...Chinese broccoli sautéed, dumplings with shrimp, eggplant with shrimp, sautéed wide noodles with some veggies, soup dumplings, etc. finally tried the mango dessert. It was yummy.

The Noodle in Scallion Sauce (上海葱油拌麵) has a rich scallion oil flavor with perfectly chewy noodles, while the Cold Noodle w. We were second standing outdoors waiting in this big fat long line. Immediately upon opening for the day the line nearly forced entry near stampede and this cafe was immediately packed to full occupancy of patrons with free seating. The Yelp reviews are accurate and truthful. The food is great. This is a small cafe with only approximately eight tables. I do not recommend large parties of five and greater. It is no-frills, but not exactly "hole in the wall" type that lack in aesthetics for upscale lavish atmosphere but the deficiency is resolved in the food quality. There is one sole functioning restroom in the whole business, ergo, stand in line and wait. We entered hungry in a lugubrious sense of deep sorrow, but exited hunger pangs fulfilled. When exiting upon completion of our lunch meal, there was a line that quickly formed outdoors waiting. Unfortunately, access to this cafe in Edison, NJ is by car only and there is a free parking lot that is shared with neighboring businesses located in a small shopping complex. There are no business cards, and no takeout menus available. Customer service is efficient as the staff worked methodically hustling busy to take orders and fulfillment. Our male waiter was attentive to respond to our inquiries and make suggestions based on our desires. I was able to keep the sales receipt. Price is in the rationale realm of stagflation totaling $41.75. Nota Bene: No table hibernation as the table turnover is fast pace with a line overflowing outdoors which cannot interrupt the flow. My foodie synopsis: Pork steam soup dumplings, 6 pcs, siu2 lung4 baau1, 小籠包, $8.75 Very juicy, flavorful and great. It was served piping hot. This is my favorite default dish for every visit at any Shanghainese ethnic cuisine. However, there were no serving tongs provided for this particular appetizer which is industry standard. Preserved cabbage with pork noodle soup, syut3 coi3 juk6 si1 min6, 雪菜肉絲麵 $9.50 This is a satisfying Chinese comfort food. This noodle soup was abundant with noodles, pork and chopped vegetables. It provided warmth to my very broken heart. Shanghai chicken in wine sauce, zeoi3 gai1, 醉雞, $8.95 A traditional Chinese cold appetizer, aka Chinese Drunken chicken made with Chinese Shaoxing cooking wine. It has amazing flavor and texture to be deliciously enticing. Of course, the cooking wine brings flavor to this appetizer making you want more. Shanghai pan fried U-Don noodle, soeng6 hoi2 cou1 caau2 min6, 上海粗炒面, $11.95 Abundant noodles with good consistency and it not heavily filled with grease and oil.

I was flipping ecstatic when I saw this place was still open and survived the C-Word. I felt so at home eating the food I had back in my college days with my original order. I will say that the restaurant did downsize, however I'm just happy that they're still there to begin with, just in case I haven't elaborated. The decor did get a nice lift and more modern than the back of the day set up. I think it's cute. I believe the young lady that's been there for years may have been the owner the whole time and I was just too oblivious to actually pay attention. The server herself... I felt bad that she couldn't really understand me as my order was incorrect on what I was missing in my soup. My usual from back in the day was Beef and Beef Tendon Noodle Soup, and I would always ask for tripe with mixed beef intestines... so I was missing the intestines but genuinely didn't really think of it as a big deal since I just wanted to taste the food again. Overall, soup, 15/10. The XLB's are just goodness and warms my soul and lord have mercy how much I have missed these little puppies. We came on a Sunday around 1pm and about half the tables were occupied so there was no wait. First thing I noticed is the inside is all different, maybe newer looking. They must have changed ownership from when I last came. The food wasn't authentic and wasn't good. We ordered soup dumplings, sweet soy milk, savory soy milk, and pan fried dumplings. Soup dumplings- the good thing is here they give you 8 pieces (vs 6 pieces in other NJ places). The skin is too thin. It was difficult to pick up with a chopstick or spoon and not 1 piece stayed intact while picking it up. All of the soup leaked out before it even reached my plate. The texture of the skin was "slippery" vs the bouncy kind I usually see with soup dumplings. My husband said he bit into a small piece of bone which is weird. Sweet soy milk- it wasn't a smooth drink. There were lots of soy grits Savory soy milk- tasted very watered down. Didn't have much soy milk flavor Pan fried dumplings- the portion was generous with 6 huge pan fried dumplings. These are the largest I've seen anywhere. They look more like buns than dumplings!! It was ok but overall it didn't taste like a pan fried dumpling. The owners seem really nice and friendly, chatting with some of the customers. Their service was good too. It's just the food isn't authentically Shanghainese.
