Not gonna lie, this might be one of the best seafood spots in Jersey. We ordered the 4-pound seafood boil with crab legs, shrimp, lobster tail, boiled eggs, potatoes, corn, broccoli, AND garlic noodles. Baby, when I tell you there was not a single survivor on that table... everything got demolished. The seasoning was hitting, the seafood was fresh, and those garlic noodles deserve their own award. I came here with friends twice recently. Once for the regular seafood boil for dinner and once for their oyster deal. For the dinner, I ordered a mango lemonade and got their pick 2 combo with snow crab legs, head on shrimp, and sausage with mild cap't loui seasoning. The boil was good, a bit bland and overcooked but overall had a good amount of shrimp, sausage, and crab. However, the mango lemonade did not taste of mango or lemonade and was mostly sugar. The signature bag it comes in was also impractical as it didn't stand up on the table. The total for this meal came out to about $100 with tip and tax, a bit more than I was expecting to spend but I guess it was the experience as well. The waiter was attentive and pleasant. For oysters, my table got 3 dozen oysters for $36 which were yummy as expected. However the deal is capped at a dozen per person unfortunately. I also ordered the fish and chips with lemon pepper fries to accompany my oysters of which the batter was a bit bland but the fries beautifully seasoned. In addition, we ordered the funnel cake fries which were delicious. Overall, I had pleasant experiences both times but the boil itself was a bit pricey, the mango lemonade just sugar. I would come here again for the oysters but probably not for the seafood boiler combo. read more

I stopped into this restaurant to get dinner with a friend. When I arrived I parked in the plaza lot. I walked in and was greeted and sat. I was served by some amazing servers! I love the capt loui chain and love to go to one every chance I get. The capt loui sauce is so garlicky and flavorful and the Edison location might just be my favorite one I've ever tried! The waiters are very nice and attentive and my favorite part is the outdoor sinks after devouring the meal with our hands. They provide things like hair ties and lemon to help remove the smell on your hands. The location is huge compared to the Fort Lee, I wish it was closer to me so I could go more often. The best seafood boil in the area now! The flavor of their Capt Loui sauce is so addicting. You can get it in different spice levels. I've tried hot and medium, and prefer the hot but my other half can't handle it! I also find their lunch prices a really great deal. You pretty much get a half pound of 2 items for the price of like one half pound at dinner time and it comes with garlic noodles. Get the garlic noodles and DIP them in that sauce! My faves are the shrimp with head on (get the juice inside the head!), and the clams. The scallop ended up a little overcooked when they cook it in the same bag as other types of seafood. Snow crab legs are excellent too if you want to drop a little more. Also, they have some fried baskets which was great for my kids! Win win. read more

My husband and I decided to give this place a try after many of our friends said great things. We arrived at 5 PM on a Friday and the restaurant was pretty empty. However, by 5:30 it was absolutely packed. I would highly recommend making a reservation or coming early like we did. Let me start off by saying this is not a cheap date night, haha. With the seafood we picked it roughly cost $160 for a 3 lb bag with 2 Cap't Loui coolers. One mistake we made was picking 1/2 a pound of clams. Unlike mussels that come on the half shell clams come full shell which weighs much more. Additionally, some of the clams didn't open up which made them unsafe to eat. The other seafood choices we picked were snow crab, shrimp head on, mussels, and scallops with the Mild Cap't Loui sauce. Sides were sausages and broccoli The 3 lb boil only comes with 1 potato and 1 corn on the cob. I wish it came with 2 that way its even across each person. The mild had a tiny bit of a kick but was super garlicky and flavorful. I love garlic so it was the perfect amount. But I could see for people who aren't fans of garlic not being a fan. FYI, there is complimentary mouth wash in the bathroom! Such a plus. All the seafood was cooked to perfection, nothing was overcooked. We will definitely be coming back again if we want to splurge on date night. read more

I went back to Cap't Loui tonight and it was everything I ever needed. I got lucky and found parking right away so it was a good start. The service was quick and the food came out hot and fresh. We got 5lbs of food. Head off shrimp (2) and 1 pound of crab legs, mussels, and calamari. It came with 3 free sides. We did double fries and broccoli. Everything was so good. We did medium cap't Loui sauce and it has a kick so if you can't handle spice, stick with mild. It was delicious. If you've been to a seafood boil before, you'll know what to expect. You choose your seafood, sauce and sides. It's all mixed into a bag. We ordered the shrimp and crawfish and potatoes. The medium spice level is tolerable for me, but maybe it would have been more enjoyable a notch down. It's more like medium high. Hubby said it was the right level for him. First timer, my niece highly recommended it. So we met there and had a fabulous time. The place is very nice and staff were very friendly and helped us order the best amount which was the 2lbs. It comes with 3 sides. I also order 3 more sides. The apron and gloves were on and the bag came out. It was super exciting. We dug in as we laughed and ate. Didn't think I'd find any seafood boil place better than the boil that's in the city. But Capt Loui was just as good. The butter and garlic sauce tastes a bit different but in a good way. Not sure what the prices for King Crab is at the moment but 1lb was $135 which is absurd. That's essentially 1.5 legs. Passed on that and doubled down on the lobster and clams. read more

Horrible! Do not waste your time or money! They literally served over cooked shrimp and crab that was so bad it was like eating paper! The server was so kind that's the only reason for the 2 stars because otherwise it would be zero stars. This place serves flavorless over cooked mush I guess if that's what you're into, go for it! Worst part of the whole experience was the manager who basically just took our check and refunded 20 bucks off with not even saying I'm sorry !!! The whole bill should have been taken care of by then and we should have gotten the apology too! From snow crab and clams to shrimp, potatoes, and corn--everything hit just right! We also tried the Fish & Chips basket with Cajun fries--crispy fish, golden Cajun fries, and full-on flavor! Fried shrimp were ok, didn't love the seasoning in the batter, but it is supposed to be southern style so I get it. What I don't get is why they sell a New England clam chowder that has the consistency of water and nothing in it. I don't think I got a single clam. That was garbage, skip that. I got delivery, and the beignet's were deflated and sad. I bet that's better if you go and eat them fresh, but what I got was just a mess. (01/09/26) I've been meaning to try this place and I finally did! Wait time was not long as I was a singular diner. I got seated very quickly. Servers were very attentive especially for new blood. The interior is bright, modern, and welcoming. Each table is equipped disposable table cloths, gloves and a bib to combat extra mess, but I had to ask for the seafood cracking tools. The menu offers 2 lbs, 3 lbs, or 4 lbs boil dinners, and the seafood is *market price*. I ordered 2 clusters of snow crab, lobster tail, 1/2 lb of shrimp (head on), and 1/2 of scallops. You can also choose between cajun or lemon pepper sauce, and spice level. I went with mild. For 3 lbs, I got two free sides; I went with broccoli and fries. Drinks are served in a cute pouch. The entire meal was delicious and I finished about 60% before I was full. Portion sizes were very large, and I barely made a dent in the fries. Thankfully, I was able to take the rest home to finish later. Overall, I feel like this place is much more suited for larger parties to make it easier to split the cost. My entire meal cost a whopping $134. I wouldn't come back by myself, definitely recommend bringing a friend or a group. It's a lot of food for one person to handle. read more

So I brought my mother to the restaurant for her 57th Birthday being that seafood is her favorite. I ordered a seafood boil and I asked for garlic butter with Cap't sauce on the side. instead I got it all together and it was too spicy to eat.
