    G06. Eggplant in Garlic Sauce

This is a no frills old school Chinese restaurant with some unique selections. Didn't have much this time but what I had was excellent. Place was fairly empty and I hope that people aren't coming bc it's not trendy like some of the newer Chinese spots in the area I can't say enough about how amazing the Chinese eggplant in garlic sauce was. Def my favorite dish I ate here and the absolute best version of this I've ever had. The fried pork chop was simple but extremely flavorful and not over cooked. Lastly the twice cooked fish filet was good but not as good as I've had elsewhere (a bit too much batter for my liking). Cannot wait to come back to try other dishes

First time trying this place out and it was everything we needed on a cold windy day! We all had shared the number 1 and number 2 soup noodle entrees and both were unbelievable. However, the must-try item is the soup dumpling! We were hesitant to order them at first but we were so glad we did. The filling was soft and tasty, and the rest of the dumpling was just pure perfection. Would definitely recommend!

I love Edison Noodle house! When I'm craving for Taiwanese food, I come here. Recently I brought my sister and best friend here for lunch. Not only the food is so authentic, but the price is so reasonable. We brought our babies here for lunch, and one of the servers offered to watch my friends baby while her husband eat. It was very considerate of her. The baby loves the server and my friend was able to eat his food. The place is very clean as well. When we were there, they were preparing food for catering. Man, the catering food looks so good. We ordered many different entrees and we haven't had any bad food from this place. Highly recommended!!

This place is definitely a hidden gem. We've visited this restaurant before they relocated to this new location. This is definitely the most authentic beef noodle soup and best tasting beef noodle soup I have ever eaten and would recommend this place. Full of flavor and the meat is soft and noodles cooked perfectly. The portion size is great for the price. We always order that as well as their braised pork rice.

Came here for the first time - it was an overall good experience! They have their own parking lot but when you enter, keep walking through the initial room seems like storage until you hit the main part of the restaurant. Ordered braised beef noodle soup and Taiwanese fried chicken. The prices were pretty affordable and the food came quickly. The soup broth was flavorful and the portions are HUGE. The chicken was pretty good (just a tad dry). I would come back again!

This place is deserted for dine in on the weekend but their takeout side is doing very well. Don't let the lack of diners scare you away! Had some top notch Lou rou fan here, big portions of fatty braised pork and lots of pickled mustard greens. It was so good I immediately ordered another one to go. Also really loved the "twice cooked" fried fish here. Super crispy, flavorful, and addictive. The scallion pancake was flaky and tender. The broccoli and eggplant was perfectly cooked and fragrant. Would come back for sure!

I like this place and have been coming here for years now. You can't go wrong with fresh pulled noodles and excellent beef broth, the beef pieces are so tender and melt in your mouth. The taste of the broth is nice is really nice and makes me comeback for more. This location is more than 20 minutes away from my home by car, but it definitely worth the drive for me. Simply the best. Wish it came with more beef like they used to, it a decent portion now than the mega bowl they use to provide. I would say it just right size and portion. I always have a sizable amount left over as many of my friends can knock out the whole bowl in one sitting. If you into authentic Taiwanese noodles, give this place a try. They have a very large dining area and a catering/karaoke hall that is always booked with large parties whenever I go there.

Ordered through DoorDash for dinner, trying this place out for the first time and was not disappointed! For the braised pork meal, the pork was super tender, the tanginess from the greens balanced the fattiness of the pork wonderfully. I know it's a garnish but I wish it came with more pickled radish! For the tomato and egg, it was a nice light flavor, although I think a little more soy sauce/fish sauce/salt could help. Was still delicious. Will definitely try here again, especially to try some new dishes!

Great home style flavor. Have stayed in Taiwan before and this is as good as it gets for the US.

What a hidden gem! We were in the area trying to get some lunch. This place had authentic and really good Taiwanese food!! All the restaurants within the H-Mart mall strip were packed and we didn't feel safe eating indoors with so many people with the omicron surge. We came here instead and SO glad we did!!! Super spacious interior. Friendly service and very good and authentic Taiwanese food!!!! Being a native from Taiwan, I know what Taiwanese food should taste like and this place DID not disappoint! Literally everything we tried was so good and delicious! 1) Taiwanese popcorn chicken. Really authentic. Just like the ones I had in Taiwan if not better 2) slices beef with scallion pancake. So crispy and yummy. The black bean sauce was savory and sweet and was a nice contrast with the scallions inside. 3) garlic fish. Very good flavor. Sweet and garlicy and breaded nicely. Nice portion 4) sliced fish in hot chili sauce. Very flavorful. Lots of soy bean sprouts inside and lots of fish. Portion was beyond generous. 5) seafood tofu casserole. Came out sizzling with lots of fried bean curd and generous amounts of different seafood including shrimp, cuttlefish. Flavor was good. 6) pork steamed buns. I did not have this but my son truly enjoyed this dish. Overall this is a very nice restaurant that serves amazing food and a cheap price. It deserves way more customers and business than they have. If I live in the area I would probably frequent this place every single day.

    Stinky tofu
    Clarissa L.

Stopped by for lunch on a Sunday and the restaurant was pretty empty. I heard they had good stinky tofu so we came by to try it. The tofu definitely had the stink but it tasted like the store package stinky tofu that they just fried. We also asked for more sauce because who can eat stinky tofu without the garlic sauce? The waitress took the plate back to the kitchen to add sauce and came back saying there is some on the bottom of the plate... Never been to a place that was so stingy with sauce! The beef noodle soup was a bit too sweet for my liking. It's def a big bowl of noodles, with a few pieces of meat. The stir fried noodles were standard. Prices are reasonable. An average place for lunch. Hopefully next time they'll be a little bit more generous with the sauce!

I've been here multiple times throughout college and after, and for good reason. Food: I almost always get the Beef Noodle soup, which I would recommend if you're stopping by here. The noodles are good and the beef is tender with a good mixture of meatiness and fatty. The broth itself can be kind of hit or miss in my opinion; sometimes it can be a bit too oily for my liking, while other times it tastes fine. The portions are also really generous and filling. Service/Environment: The new place that they moved into doesn't have the hole in the wall feel of a beef noodle restaurant you would find in Taiwan, but it is a lot cleaner and more spacious. The service is usually pretty quick and attentive. Price: For the amount of food you're getting, this place is definitely worth what you're paying for. I usually leave the place feeling pretty full and satisfied. Overall: While the soup itself can be a bit of a hit or miss sometimes, this is my go to place when I am trying to eat beef noodle soup. I would recommend giving it a try if you're trying to look for Taiwanese food in the area!

I came to this place for the first time because I heard that their Braised Beef Noodle Soup is really good. My boyfriend and I ordered the E1 Braised Beef Noodle Soup and E2 Spicy Chili with Beef Noodles. I thought the food was average. The Braised Beef Noodle Soup tastes like most of the beef noodle soups I have had elsewhere. Nothing about the food really popped out at me. However, the portions are huge! They come in a very big bowl which is definitely enough to fill an empty stomach. I believe that the noodle soups are worth their price and if you pay in cash, there's a 5% discount. I thought the service was okay. One waitress came up to ask me if we were ready to order. However when I replied that we needed a bit more time, she looked annoyed and just walked away without saying a word. Also, I think it is important that when a waitor brings out the food that they identify which food they are placing on the table. The waitress just placed down the food and left. Overall, the place is very clean and spacious. I think I would come back again because they give out big portions.

The service is very friendly and patient (and American friendly). The food comes out lightning fast. Everything is very reasonably priced. Best of all, it's all delicious. I tried stuff outside of my comfort zone and I loved it all. My favorite were the pork juicy buns (soup dumplings) but the most unique thing was the pan fried noodle which was like a crispy deep fried noodle that would soften as it sat in the sauce. The golden lava buns were sweet and rich and perfect for dessert.

We were second standing outdoors waiting in this big fat long line. Immediately upon opening for the day the line nearly forced entry near stampede and this cafe was immediately packed to full occupancy of patrons with free seating. The Yelp reviews are accurate and truthful. The food is great. This is a small cafe with only approximately eight tables. I do not recommend large parties of five and greater. It is no-frills, but not exactly "hole in the wall" type that lack in aesthetics for upscale lavish atmosphere but the deficiency is resolved in the food quality. There is one sole functioning restroom in the whole business, ergo, stand in line and wait. We entered hungry in a lugubrious sense of deep sorrow, but exited hunger pangs fulfilled. When exiting upon completion of our lunch meal, there was a line that quickly formed outdoors waiting. Unfortunately, access to this cafe in Edison, NJ is by car only and there is a free parking lot that is shared with neighboring businesses located in a small shopping complex. There are no business cards, and no takeout menus available. Customer service is efficient as the staff worked methodically hustling busy to take orders and fulfillment. Our male waiter was attentive to respond to our inquiries and make suggestions based on our desires. I was able to keep the sales receipt. Price is in the rationale realm of stagflation totaling $41.75. Nota Bene: No table hibernation as the table turnover is fast pace with a line overflowing outdoors which cannot interrupt the flow. My foodie synopsis: Pork steam soup dumplings, 6 pcs, siu2 lung4 baau1, 小籠包, $8.75 Very juicy, flavorful and great. It was served piping hot. This is my favorite default dish for every visit at any Shanghainese ethnic cuisine. However, there were no serving tongs provided for this particular appetizer which is industry standard. Preserved cabbage with pork noodle soup, syut3 coi3 juk6 si1 min6, 雪菜肉絲麵 $9.50 This is a satisfying Chinese comfort food. This noodle soup was abundant with noodles, pork and chopped vegetables. It provided warmth to my very broken heart. Shanghai chicken in wine sauce, zeoi3 gai1, 醉雞, $8.95 A traditional Chinese cold appetizer, aka Chinese Drunken chicken made with Chinese Shaoxing cooking wine. It has amazing flavor and texture to be deliciously enticing. Of course, the cooking wine brings flavor to this appetizer making you want more. Shanghai pan fried U-Don noodle, soeng6 hoi2 cou1 caau2 min6, 上海粗炒面, $11.95 Abundant noodles with good consistency and it not heavily filled with grease and oil.

Turned out to be a great choice. Although not easy to find on the tail end of a nondescript commercial strip, we saw its sign and walked in to a decent sized dining room with a half dozen booths along one wall and about a dozen tables spread across the remainder. Plenty of original watercolors displayed and for sale on the walls. David the proprietor seemed to be handling most of the operation himself. He sat us, took our order, disappeared into the kitchen to participate in its preparation and served our four courses to us in traditional style - separately as ready. The food was excellent. We chose from both the lunch and regular menu, which were integrated seamlessly. Fried Pork Chop, Crispy Fried Intestine, Fish Fillets in Chili Sauce from the mains, and Orange Beef from the lunch list. I started with Hot &Sour Soup, which was flavorful and loaded with tofu, sprouts, pork slivers and potent vinegar. Loved it! The Pork Chop was deboned and pressed thin. The result was a crisp sliced Katsu-like cutlet with nice flavor and long crunchy chew. The Intestine was also crisp and filled with green beans that mixed well with the hardened shell and soft innards. Not my fave, but my lovely partner ate it enthusiastically. The Fish and Chili was very good, with tender lightly breaded white fish fillets and red chili sauce that included small pieces of celery, sprouts and cabbage, in a large bowl. Finally, the lunch sized Orange Beef was delicious with sweet and spicy amber sauce coating the pieces of lightly crisped beef. Ubiquitous broccoli sprigs added color to the dish. Service was friendly and accommodating. David was happy to interact and talk about his business there. Red Onion is a Five Star keeper.

If you're in NJ and craving Hong Kong-style wonton noodle soup, head to Wonton Guy in Edison. It's a no-frills local gem tucked away in a tiny strip mall off Route 27, with a few parking spots out front and more in the back. The space is small (only 10 tables!) and nothing fancy, but the value is hard to beat. It's always busy, and after you take your first slurp of the soup, you'll get why. Service is fast, so the tables turn over quickly. I was able to grab a seat when I walked in on a Saturday evening. The menu is simple and offers 3 main options: 1.) noodle soup with toppings 2.) soup with toppings (no noodles) 3.) lo mein with toppings served with soup on the side From there, you pick your noodle type (egg, flat rice, vermicelli), as well as up to 3 toppings (wontons, dumplings, beef brisket, etc.). There are also a few side dishes like shredded pork in chili tomato sauce, deep fried fish skin, and curry fish balls. They even sell some items raw like wontons, noodles, dumplings, and sliced beef. And the best part is... the prices are very affordable! Most of the dishes are around $11-$16. My order: *Two Toppings (wonton + beef brisket) Noodle Soup [$12.75] - Where do I begin? Every single part of this meal SLAPPED. The wontons were MUMBO JUMBO and generously filled with fresh, plump shrimp that were sweet and juicy. The noodles were soft and springy. The beef brisket was SO tender with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. And the broth? Super rich, aromatic, and savory. It's made of shrimp skin, pork bone, dried flounder fish, dried shrimp, and dried monk fruit, but it doesn't taste fishy at all. Each table is stocked with condiments like vinegar, homemade chili oil, and soy sauce to customize your soup. The chili oil packs some SERIOUS HEAT, so watch out. This was hands down one of the best noodle soups I've had. I was sad when I finished it :-( *Hong Kong-style Milk Tea [$6] - I really enjoyed this! The black tea was bold and strong--almost too strong for me, but the milk balanced it out nicely. I only wish it had boba! Everything tasted authentic. Quick backstory: The owner comes from a family with GENERATIONS of experience making wontons and running noodle shops in Hong Kong. He grew up there and brought those family traditions to his own restaurants in Toronto... and now Edison. All those years of experience clearly show in his food. The broth is simmered overnight, and the wontons are freshly prepared every morning. No shortcuts here--just decades of tradition, skill, and a whole lot of love in every bowl. Ugh, I wish I lived closer because I'd be a regular. It's hard these days to find a place that REALLLLLLY delivers a memorable meal that's both tasty, reasonably priced, and served in generous portions. If you're within driving distance and debating whether it's worth the trip--DON'T! Wonton Guy is absolutely worth a visit, even if it's just once. I drove an hour to try it, and I still think about those wontons all the time... no joke LOL.
