TLDR: authentic Chinese food Edison Noodle House' flagship dish is its beef noodle soup, and the menu seems to lean Taiwanese. My party ordered the beef noodle soup, braised pork rice, stir fried cabbage, and dumplings. Everything was authentic and tasted as I would expect from any Taiwanese restaurant. My favorite was the braised pork rice - it was tender and rendered well with a great ratio of meat to fat. I was a bit disappointed with the lack of depth of flavor of the noodle soup. Edison Noodle House serves classic Taiwanese dishes including Taiwanese popcorn chicken, beef noodle soup, Lu rou fan (braised pork rice), etc. It's not a cute or vibey spot but you're not here for the vibes you're here for the Taiwanese dishes and a taste of a home cooked meal. The beef noodle soup had impossibly tender beef - so soft and so succulent. The noodles were fine and the soup was light, but still traditional, but the star of the show was definitely the beef. The popcorn chicken has fried basil, which is how old school Taiwanese popcorn chicken is made. The chicken is also very crispy and juicy at the same time. This is a no frills old school Chinese restaurant with some unique selections. Didn't have much this time but what I had was excellent. Place was fairly empty and I hope that people aren't coming bc it's not trendy like some of the newer Chinese spots in the area I can't say enough about how amazing the Chinese eggplant in garlic sauce was. Def my favorite dish I ate here and the absolute best version of this I've ever had. The fried pork chop was simple but extremely flavorful and not over cooked. I love Edison Noodle house! When I'm craving for Taiwanese food, I come here. Recently I brought my sister and best friend here for lunch. Not only the food is so authentic, but the price is so reasonable. We brought our babies here for lunch, and one of the servers offered to watch my friends baby while her husband eat. It was very considerate of her. The baby loves the server and my friend was able to eat his food. The place is very clean as well. When we were there, they were preparing food for catering. Came here for the first time - it was an overall good experience! They have their own parking lot but when you enter, keep walking through the initial room seems like storage until you hit the main part of the restaurant. My favorite Edison restaurant -- very underrated. I would describe their dishes as homestyle cooking, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. They do well with soup noodle dishes, stir fry dishes, and have really great staples like scallion pancakes. It's not a flashy place, very homey and you'll never have a hard time finding seating since it's such a large place. It seems most people order takeout though, since I have never seen many people dining in. Their menu is large and we always have new things to try. My go to spot! read more

I like this place and have been coming here for years now. You can't go wrong with fresh pulled noodles and excellent beef broth, the beef pieces are so tender and melt in your mouth. The taste of the broth is nice is really nice and makes me comeback for more. This location is more than 20 minutes away from my home by car, but it definitely worth the drive for me. Simply the best. Wish it came with more beef like they used to, it a decent portion now than the mega bowl they use to provide. I would say it just right size and portion. I always have a sizable amount left over as many of my friends can knock out the whole bowl in one sitting. If you into authentic Taiwanese noodles, give this place a try. They have a very large dining area and a catering/karaoke hall that is always booked with large parties whenever I go there. read more

For the braised pork meal, the pork was super tender, the tanginess from the greens balanced the fattiness of the pork wonderfully. I know it's a garnish but I wish it came with more pickled radish! For the tomato and egg, it was a nice light flavor, although I think a little more soy sauce/fish sauce/salt could help. Was still delicious. What a hidden gem! We were in the area trying to get some lunch. This place had authentic and really good Taiwanese food!! All the restaurants within the H-Mart mall strip were packed and we didn't feel safe eating indoors with so many people with the omicron surge. We came here instead and SO glad we did!!! Literally everything we tried was so good and delicious! 1) Taiwanese popcorn chicken. Really authentic. Just like the ones I had in Taiwan if not better 2) slices beef with scallion pancake. So crispy and yummy. The black bean sauce was savory and sweet and was a nice contrast with the scallions inside. 3) garlic fish. Very good flavor. Sweet and garlicy and breaded nicely. Nice portion 4) sliced fish in hot chili sauce. Very flavorful. Lots of soy bean sprouts inside and lots of fish. Portion was beyond generous. 5) seafood tofu casserole. Came out sizzling with lots of fried bean curd and generous amounts of different seafood including shrimp, cuttlefish. Flavor was good. 6) pork steamed buns. I did not have this but my son truly enjoyed this dish. Overall this is a very nice restaurant that serves amazing food and a cheap price. It deserves way more customers and business than they have. Stopped by for lunch on a Sunday and the restaurant was pretty empty. I heard they had good stinky tofu so we came by to try it. The tofu definitely had the stink but it tasted like the store package stinky tofu that they just fried. We also asked for more sauce because who can eat stinky tofu without the garlic sauce? The waitress took the plate back to the kitchen to add sauce and came back saying there is some on the bottom of the plate... Never been to a place that was so stingy with sauce! The beef noodle soup was a bit too sweet for my liking. It's def a big bowl of noodles, with a few pieces of meat. The stir fried noodles were standard. Prices are reasonable. I've been here multiple times throughout college and after, and for good reason. Food: I almost always get the Beef Noodle soup, which I would recommend if you're stopping by here. The noodles are good and the beef is tender with a good mixture of meatiness and fatty. The broth itself can be kind of hit or miss in my opinion; sometimes it can be a bit too oily for my liking, while other times it tastes fine. The portions are also really generous and filling. Service/Environment: The new place that they moved into doesn't have the hole in the wall feel of a beef noodle restaurant you would find in Taiwan, but it is a lot cleaner and more spacious. The service is usually pretty quick and attentive. Price: For the amount of food you're getting, this place is definitely worth what you're paying for. I usually leave the place feeling pretty full and satisfied. Overall: While the soup itself can be a bit of a hit or miss sometimes, this is my go to place when I am trying to eat beef noodle soup. I came to this place for the first time because I heard that their Braised Beef Noodle Soup is really good. My boyfriend and I ordered the E1 Braised Beef Noodle Soup and E2 Spicy Chili with Beef Noodles. I thought the food was average. The Braised Beef Noodle Soup tastes like most of the beef noodle soups I have had elsewhere. Nothing about the food really popped out at me. However, the portions are huge! They come in a very big bowl which is definitely enough to fill an empty stomach. I believe that the noodle soups are worth their price and if you pay in cash, there's a 5% discount. I thought the service was okay. One waitress came up to ask me if we were ready to order. However when I replied that we needed a bit more time, she looked annoyed and just walked away without saying a word. Also, I think it is important that when a waitor brings out the food that they identify which food they are placing on the table. The waitress just placed down the food and left. It was our first time coming here and we actually walked in from the back parking lot entrance. When you first walk in the back, you walk into what looks like a small dark storage room that had unused fridge and old advertising decorations. Then you walk into another room which looks like the restaurant now, but the lights were off and it looked abandoned. We were about to walk out, but we heard sounds coming from another room that had the lights on. Finally, we found the front main room. It would've been helpful if they had signs pointing to the front. There was one customer eating and a woman watching tv, which we assumed was the owner by the way she spoke to staff and how she made her way around the place. The place had some hot-pot/ shabu shabu grill tops on some tables but the menu doesn't offer any. We stood by the host desks for some time before being seated. Our waitress was nice, but there was a slight language barrier. At the back of the menu, they had a recommendation page but sadly, it's the only page in the menu that didn't have English translation. We ordered the braised beef noodle soup, pork stir fry noodles, the fried pork chop as an appetizer, and two flavored teas (Thai and honeydew) from their tea shop. They first brought out our entrees and then brought out the wrong appetizer, so there was an extra wait for right one to come out. The portion size and the price were good. The braised beef noodle soup was alright. They had meaty juicy beef pieces but it only came with 4pcs. I wish it had at least one more so I didn't have to "save" a piece for the end since the ratio of noodles was a lot more. The noodles were great but the broth was salty. It wasn't one that I wanted to "chug"/ finish at the end. My friend said that the pork stir fry was good but was just greasy so he didn't finish it. The fried pork chop was good. I wish it came with a glaze or sauce but I'm not sure if that's traditional Taiwanese cooking. Lastly, the flavored teas were okay. They had an aftertaste that made it clear it was made from powder. I was hoping it was going to be better since they had a whole separate menu for their tea shop with numerous options. We ordered pork steamed buns, braised beef noodle soup, chicken stirfry noodles, and curry chicken fried rice. The beef soup was flavorful and the beef was very tender. The presentation of the curry chicken fried rice was creative in the shape of a pyramid. However, the appetizer came after the entrees. The pork steamed buns looked deflated and had thick skin. The restaurant is spacious and has nice, modern, simplistic decorations. There were only two servers, who spoke broken or little English. Luckily, another worker, who spoke fluent English, started her shift midway through the meal and was very helpful and accomodating. Having someone who speaks Mandarin with you would be very helpful. Their service is not that great. It took several times to get refills on tea and to get a leftover box. The place is still new, but I think they still need to get used to running the place smoother, particularly customer service. We intended to use a Groupon for the restaurant, but when we were about the pay, they said we couldn't use it because the bill had to be a minimum for $50 and we had to pay in cash. Having late lunch here. We ordered Sweet n Sour Fish, White rice on the side and Shanghai Wanton Soup. The boneless fish is freshly fried and sliced thinly, with its sauce taste heavenly. The wantons are made in-house. The soup blended well with dried seasoned seaweed and the Shanghai wantons. It's delicious. Serving staff are helpful and cooperative. Clean neutral gender bathroom. The spicy tofu stirfry changed my life. I have never had tofu so tender or well spiced. It was the perfect balance of spicy and smoky, without being overpowering. The sesame chicken also offered subtler, more pronounced flavors than typical Chinese American restaurants. Very homey, comfortable atmosphere. Staff was so friendly. read more

This fairly recent new player in Edison gastro scene does not disappoint. Most of the standard dishes we tried are slightly above average -- perhaps nothing that jumped out as a winner, but all of them were definitely quite delectable. In particular I truly enjoyed the seaweed-infused bowl of soup with plenty of immersed dumplings that I ordered. The dumplings have a strong flowery flavor (which reminded me of the Taiwanese origin of the dishes), and for $6.99 it's quite generous. The other dishes tried were around $8.50-$9 range and they were equally huge. The Rouzao noodle also have a notable spice flavoring and the noodle was a delight to chew. When we were there yesterday it actually appeared that they just opened a new wing for boba tea/dessert at the back, which is, unfortunately, not visible at all from the main street nor even when we're inside the restaurant! I hope they redesign it or give it much exposure (putting a huge sign by the street should help -- people will come just for the drinks!) Will try the dessert area later next time. Ambiance is modern, clean and elegant and the service is satisfactory and our waitress was friendly to us and quick to attend. This is one of the old staple in the Edison Chinatown area. The last time I was here must be 5 years back and I never came back because I felt they've no identity. The menu then wasn't too Taiwanese and not too Chinese so I'm not sure what I was eating then. Anyway I've decided to give it another try recently since there really ain't much quality restaurants around Edison either. It turns out to be good decision as this time around. 谢姐 actually have the classic Taiwanese delicacy 小吃 that I enjoy from their old location which is now 98K burger. Braised pork rice, 3 cup chicken etc all came out nice and I had a good meal. To my amazement the prices are very low compared to all the other restaurants around the area and the portion is huge as well. I'm not complaining but something is off when I see this. An old Taiwanese lady approached me and we had a chat. Turns out she's been trying to sell the place even with all the positives I've mentioned above. IYKYK, It's a super competitive market in Edison as we're always spoiled with the next big thing with Chongqing Wharf hotpot being the latest hit and old school restaurant like Edison Noodle House naturally gets overlooked. A nice homely restaurant with familiar faces and warmth..I guess we'll miss it when it's gone. read more

Great Taiwanese food! After seeing it relocating from a much smaller spot to a larger one, I thought the food must be good! It was indeed. We ordered the salted fish with chicken fried rice, young chow fried rice, braised beef noodle soup, beef sandwich (appetizer), pork shrimp and chives dumplings, Shanghai stir fry rice cake and dry rouzao noodle. All the dishes were really good. My favorite was the salted fish with chicken fried rice. You can actually taste the fried fish! Other places I've tried, the flavor was lacking. I like how al the dishes weren't overly salty and had just enough flavor. We will definitely be returning to try their other dishes. My only gripe is that our waitress spoke very limited English. Her main language was mandarin/Taiwanese and us being Cantonese speaking made it a bit difficult to order. This was the only reason for the 4 star, otherwise I would of rated them a 5! As for decor, plenty of seating and spaciousness between each table so you don't feel like your on top of each other. Place is clean and they also have a bubble tea menu. Edison Noodle House has a new location. The new space was once a hot pot place. They did not bother to do a total renovation and all the hot pot burners are still on the tables. I've never been the biggest fan of Taiwanese food for reasons that I have yet to put my finger on. Although I think one of the reasons is because they use a lot of soy sauce which is thicker and heavier making some of the dishes (sauce & soup) more bitter tasting than I would like. I also find many of their dishes very greasy. Does that sound crazy?? Here is what we ordered: - Scallion Pancakes (although it looked burnt, the taste was on point) - Chive & Pork Dumplings (the only reason I would come back for) - Braised Pork w/Pickled Veggies (it was okay) - Spicy Chili w/Beef Noodle (hardly any beef) Here are the reasons why I give this place 3/5 stars: - Some people got their food before us even though we placed our order first (that always irks me) - There was someone else's lipstick stain on my teacup - The place feels and looks old - There was a bit of confusion with our order - The food was mediocre Service was meh at best! Always driving and pass this place but not sure whether it's opening because they cover the window and we cannot see inside. Finally got chance to try it - a Taiwanese place - don't see such thing a lot in this area because lots of restaurants provide spicy food or hotpot. Overall it's a good place with some special dishes that you cannot see in other places. I like the vegetables (G11) especially when you want to eat something "light". Will recommend braised pork rice - which is a traditional Taiwanese food. They do have parking, in the back of the building. We've been coming to this place for years, starting pre-pandemic when they were at their original hole-in-the-wall location a block away (where the 98K Hamburger place is now located). Back then they were consistently busy and packed so we were actually happy to hear that they were moving to their current, much larger location. Oddly enough, the amount of dine-in clientele seems to have taken a hit since the move as they're nowhere near as packed as before. I'm guessing part of it is lingering pandemic effect and the other part is just us usually coming in for lunch at non-lunch times (mid-afternoon usually). Cause as far as I can tell, their food hasn't changed since we first found them oh so many years ago. But I guess they still do enough take out business to keep them out of the red. Hopefully, cause it would be a real shame if they ever decide to close shop. For us, they're basically the best Taiwanese place in the north/central NJ area. Which isn't saying much cause competition in this still relatively niche category is pretty scarce but regardless, their food is quite good. Our staples here are the braised beef noodle soup, XLB (although last time I tried to order this they said it wasn't available, not sure if it was just temporary or for good), satay beef stir-fry noodle, hot & sour lamb, sliced fish in hot chili sauce, salt & pepper fish, and spicy pan fried pork intestine. And occasionally the stinky tofu. The portions are generous and so, so good. The lamb, fish and intestine dishes are excellent w/rice. I am decades removed from having the appetite of a growing teen but I can always polish off at least two bowls of rice with any combination of those dishes. So yeah, this place continues to be in our regular rotation of eateries in this area. Although we should probably give Red Onion another go; it's been awhile since we've been there and they're the only other Taiwanese place in the area that I know of. If I remember correctly, they were decent but we still liked ENH better. Plus this location is more convenient for us since it's right down the street from H-Mart, MeetFresh, et al. read more

This place has moved into the next door plaza down the street to a new location! It's spacious, but definitely still looks like its being fixed up. There are "new" individual stove top tables that look worn and used - couldn't quite tell if they were using tables left by the previous restaurant or if it was planned... Turns out they're looking to expand the menu in the future so keep an eye out! I usually order the Beef Scallion Pancake (so good, RECOMMEND), Beef Noodle Soup, and Shanghai Rice Cakes. Some things to note, the noodles in the beef noodle soup are very soft and for my asian friends out there, it's not Q at all (huge factor for me). Also, the Shanghai rice cakes are not what you'd expect when you order it - they come with bamboo shoots, mushrooms, and pork. If you like it great, but for all others, just a heads up. That being said, the place is decent for a Chinese food fix. Authentic and a fairly well-known place among the Asian community, but not my favorite. read more

The day I went I was so psyched to have soupy dumplings. The place I originally went to further south on 27's parking lot was filled and there appeared to be a large number of people waiting to get in. I did some Yelp research and found this place also had the soupy dumplings although not as good as the first place. I still wanted to get my soupy dumpling fix. I ordered the dumplings and was told it would be a 15 minute wait. I then said let me order something in the meantime so I had the egg drop seaweed soup. After the soup I sat and waited forever until eventually I was asked if I wanted my check. At that point I realized the server thought I ordered the soup instead of the dumplings. An honest mistake but I was extremely disappointed. The server was apologetic but I was truly disappointed. The egg drop seaweed soup was OK. The place looks nice inside.
