This store sells ramen at pre-COVID prices... my ramen was only $13.50... I'm too used to $18 to $22 bowls! Not only is it on the cheaper end, it is just as tasty. We also got their calamari for $7 and it was perfectly fried, light and airy. It had a nice spicy mayo dip too. I got the spicy miso ramen. My only complaint was that the pork belly was a little dry but my bowl came with a whole egg!! Most places will now charge +$2/3 for an egg and +$1 for spice. This place is so reasonable and hits the spot. The brown sugar boba had that nice caramel-esque flavor, but it was definitely milk forward. Was in the area looking for ramen and decided on Yaraku since they have good reviews. After trying them, I'd say that the reviews are accurate. We ordered the yaraku house special ramen and the shoyu ramen. The flavors in both were very good. The black garlic oil in the house special made the broth hearty and satisfying, everything a great ramen should be. The broth in both were also not too salty, which is something I find a lot of ramen places tend to do. One thing I'd say can be improved is the pork could be a bit fattier as it was a bit too lean for my taste. The restaurant itself was clean and the staff were very attentive and helpful. After this gastronomic disappointment, I retreated to my rice, which I had asked for fried, but what arrived was indistinguishable from the steamed rice my dining partner ordered; both were mushy, bland, and reflected absolutely no care or attention from the so-called "kitchen." To make matters worse, the "chef" marched through the front of house like a wannabe Shinkansen, and when I politely tried to explain the meal, he was charging upward of $60+; he ignored me, leaving the server to justify the weak quality of the ingredients and the negligent preparation. As an experienced diner, I have to say the four- and five-star reviews must be from people with little exposure to this cuisine. This is a nice local ramen shop. We came around 1 pm and the restaurant was full. We only had about a 5 minute wait and were seated promptly. For all the ramen options, you can choose wavy or thin noodles. I love this as I always prefer wavy :) I ordered the house special tonkatsu and my husband ordered the spicy miso. Usually spicy miso isn't very spicy at most places... but this one has a nice kick! The tonkatsu had a nice flavor, not too salty. Their house special also comes with black garlic oil and a whole marinated egg! This a great deal compared to ramen in the city or even Jersey City! We also ordered the char siu buns. They oddly dice the meat instead of giving you a whole slice. While the flavor is nice, it doesn't feel like enough meat (my husband commented he preferred a whole slice as well). They also have bubble tea, although we didn't try as it was quite cold out and we were getting over being sick. This family-run business is really nice, and we will definitely be back! I've been wanting ramen so we decided to get ramen with the family for my birthday. The place my sister recommended was closed so we opted for the next available option that was close in distance with a nicer rating... We ordered 5 different ramen, and two appetizers: the fried chicken and the fried calamari. They were all unfortunately disappointing. Ramen broth is one of the most important thing to a ramen but the broths we got were less than mediocre. They were more on the bland side. When I ordered the fried chicken appetizer, I thought I would be getting the juicy karaage that is available at most Japanese restaurants if not all. But what I got were dry chicken nuggets that looked like they came out of a costco bag. The fried calamari was tiny and underwhelming. Even my sister who normally likes everything said her meal was mediocre at best. Maybe we have truly been spoiled by the ramen we get from Manhattan and this really wasn't up to par. The only reason my review provides 2 stars is because the staff seemed to be really nice and their eggs were cooked really nicely. I don't quite understand how their average rating was able to be 4.5...perhaps their usual chef just so happened to be out on this day? Came here on a rainy day. The ramen here is pretty good. We both got the spicy miso ramen - one with rice noodles and the other with an extra serving of protein. The broth was flavorful but we felt it could've been spicier. Some of the pork was slightly over cooked for my taste but overall it's a great place to get some hot ramen. When I am in Edison, I look forward to this mom&pop restaurant. It makes one of the better vegetarian ramens out there especially if you ask for it spicy with wavy noodles. The service is prompt, and the 12 dollar price for the vegetarian bowl beats its competitors in the area by around 3 dollars and no less tasty than the 20 dollar bowls I've had in NYC. It's also less salty than any of the popular vegan bowls from Jinya, a popular now national chain from Seattle. I ordered a matcha bubble tea less sweet, which was perfectly sweet for me, so I think the regular sweet would be too sweet personally. The broth was tasty and it wasn't as oily/salty as other ramen places that I've tried. My GF asked for a side of corn, but the waiter mistakenly gave her extra chashu. Let me weigh in with a New Yorker's perspective. Ordered the Yaraku Ramen, Black Garlic Ramen and vegetable gyoza, and all were pretty mediocre. The gyoza were dry and flavorless. The ramen noodles are the cheap dry variety and not cooked properly, probably could use another minute of boiling, and the soup doesn't have the rich tonkotsu flavor I'm accustomed to. I've bought pre-prepped noodles in Asian supermarkets that taste better than this. I guess it's okay for this area, but given the choice, definitely head into NYC and get a bowl at Ippudo or another legit ramen shop. On the upside, they packaged everything well for delivery with the soup and noodles in separate bowls. read more

So my wife is addicted to ramen. For me that means every time we pass a new ramen spot we will likely try it within a week or so. We went to Aldi recently and saw this place in the plaza and the next day we stopped for lunch. They had two choices in noodles. Which I have never had before and was cool. The food came out pretty quickly which is not super uncommon for a ramen spot. They did have a little squid ball appetizer that was amazing.The shop is small but I like the décor here I think it looks really nice. They had some specials on their menu as well which was a nice touch. I thought the ramen was pretty tasty. One of the big pluses was there is a parking which can sometime be a real pain in the rear. Yaraku has wonderful ramen! The selection is great, and I love that they have a vegetarian (vegan) ramen! It's hard to find sometimes. The broth was super flavorful and I love all the mix-ins they chose, especially the mushrooms. Of course I had to add the soft boiled egg which was marinated wonderfully. I also had the cabbage salad as an appetizer, which was white shredded cabbage with a yummy ginger dressing. It does have a kick to it which kind of creeps up on you but is not overly spicy. For main dish, I ordered the black garlic shoyu ramen and my husband ordered the special yaraku house ramen with a side of extra noodles. I was grateful that my broth wasn't overly salty like other ramen places I've tried. It was just right. The noodles were chewy and the pork belly was flavorful. My husband enjoyed his dish as well. He preferred his dish over mine as he liked the broth more. If one serving of ramen isn't enough, I encourage you to just order a side of extra noodles for only $2.
