This tiny little ramen restaurant tucked in the downtown of Metuchen feels like such a hidden neighborhood gem! My husband and I stopped in for a quick lunch on our roadtrip and it didn't disappoint. Service here is quick and efficient which was exactly what we needed, but we also didn't feel rushed at any point. We ordered the pork rice bowl and spicy miso ramen. The rice bowl, surprisingly, was actually the star of the show for me. It was perfectly savory and complimented very well by the pickled ginger, scallions, and roe. It was a very comforting meal and felt like home. My husband enjoyed the ramen but I honestly wasn't the biggest fan. It wasn't ridiculously spicy, but I thought it lacked some flavor. The charred pork was absolutely delicious though!
This is such a cozy ramen spot in Metuchen! The walls are decorated with past customers, and they blast lots of EDM. Plenty of street parking available, which is free after 6pm. - Spicy Tonkotsu, 4/5: doesn't taste extremely authentic, with chunks of red onion, but the soup was flavorful and deep. the pork itself was a bit dry, tough to chew - Vegetarian Curry Ramen, 3.5/5: my friend got this one- I got to taste a bit. I think my friend enjoyed it, but I don't think it was my cup of tea There's not too many ramen places in the Metuchen area- so I recommend giving it a try. ty for reading B^)
stopped by here for an impromptu dinner with friends and i was very pleased! it's a very small and cozy restaurant, so you will be in close proximity to the next party, but i enjoyed my food so much it didn't even matter. we ultimately chose the couple set because it was the most of value- two ramens and three appetizers for only $54.95 is a steal! ordered the spicy miso tonkotsu and swapped out the pork chashu for chicken with added ginger, and my friend did the spicy kaisen. the dumplings were so full of flavor and the ramen did not miss. i loved it so much i finished the entire bowl. i love ramen and have tried so many different types, so my you can trust my opinion! it's nice to know that this local spot not only has great quality ramen, but good service. i will definitely be returning

Menya Ramen House serves the best Spicy Miso Ramen in town. Perfect on a nice cold weather together with beef gyoza, squid takoyaki and chicken karaage as starters. Great food, excellent service and cozy ambiance. This Ramen house is highly recommended!
This is my teen's favorite ramen spot. I've never been here and it's been busy. The ramen is great. The service is quick and it's in a convenient location. There is parking across the street.
The perfect place to stop for a casual dine in for great ramen. The menu is simple, but the flavor is BOLD. I opted for the spirit lifter. Super flavorful. We were impressed by the plentiful portions. My husband enjoyed one of the spicy ramen options. The only downside would be sitting on a stool (not the most comfy) and the proteins like the chicken and pork not being cut prior to serving. The service was quick and friendly. I appreciated that they offer gluten free noodles and are knowledgeable on what else, other than the noodles, contains gluten. I would recommend this spot if you're looking to grab some good ramen.
Nice little ramen shop located in Metuchen. I got the shio ramen and it was very good. Smaller seating area which is the only downfall if the place is busy. Love mom and pop restaurants. Nice friendly service.

No matter what we choose to try on the menu, we are never disappointed; and they do change up the menu and/or have seasonal options, all worth trying! They are typically more busy on the weekends, where you may have to sit on the wall facing stools, but still worth the experience and food! Plus you get to look thru all of their customer pictures with intriguing quotes (you have to be there to get it). Their fried chicken is delicious!! Fresh and perfectly Crispy, just right! And ofcourse their Ramen options are all flavorful & worth giving them a try, whether veggie or not - all options are tasty! Friendly, efficiency and quick service every time!
The spicy miso tonkotsu ramen was really good on a cold evening. Hearty broth with the mildest of kicks. The kimchi gyoza was a tad too greasy.
My co-workers and I visited this place for lunch during team-building day last month. We didn't have reservations and it was lunch time so we took a risk coming here. Although we were a large group and it was a small place, they were able to accommodate all of us, which I deeply appreciated. Service was fast, efficient, and did not disappoint! I ordered the Spicy Miso Tonkatsu Ramen and loved it! It really does live up to the hype! I have to admit I'm not one for spicy, but it had the right amount of heat that I can handle. It was very filling and satisfying! It was a culinary adventure and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. There is no doubt we will return.
they have the best vegetarian Ramen I have ever had. The owners are incredibly nice, the service is kind and fast. They take pictures with a Polaroid and post them on the wall so it's a really cool to be part of their decorated wall! I'm actually on there 3x i believe!

Stopped in for a bowl on my lunch break. First time here and I will be back! Got a bowl of the Tonkotsu and added a Ajitama (marinated soft egg). Both were delicious. Black garlic oil is my favorite so I was happy to see that as an add on as well. Quick service, and it's super cozy inside. read more

The gloomy weather had us craving ramen. We came in about 40 minutes before closing and despite the smallish space, got seated right away. We opted for the two person deal. 3 apps and 2 mains for $55 - a great deal. For apps we shared the beef gyoza, chicken karaage and takoyaki. The gyoza was ok; the karaage was pretty good and the takoyaki was standard, but good. I had the tonkotsu and my husband had the spicy miso tonkotsu and we both added the ajitama (marinated egg). Both ramens were nice and hot but flavors were underwhelming. The pork itself was good. The noodles were just ok. The tonkotsu had heavy garlic flavor but I was expecting a heartier broth with rich pork flavored like I'm used to. The spicy miso tonkotsu had a kick but also could have been richer. For all the ravings I was expecting better flavors so we're slightly disappointed. Maybe it was an off night. They close at 8:30 so around 8:20 felt slight pressure to finish up (not in a rude way). The staff is nice and the restaurant is nice and bright. read more

This tiny place is Located right off the main St in Metuchen . Service was fairly decent considering they were pretty busy . Menu is fairly simple . I ordered the spicy kaisen ramen which had a decent amount to flavor but the shoyu it lacked any flavor . The gyoza and the Karrage Don were pretty good appetizers. I was slightly disappointed with our meal I will say my expectations are pretty high when it comes ramen . But it's definitely worth a try ! read more

Cute place. Clean. Bright. A little perturbed that they sat me at a counter when the whole dining room was empty. Kind servers. Hearty bowl of ramen. Very filling and the marinated pork had just the right amount of fat. Preferred the wavy noodles but the straight ones were yummy too. Didn't like the raw red onions and could've done without them. Wasn't my favorite ramen but it was top 5. read more

We've been to Menya Ramen House about 4 times now and it just gets better every time! The service is always so friendly, and I love how you can watch the chefs cooking right in front of you--it makes the whole experience even better. The ramen is amazing, but you have to try the honey butter wings... absolute perfection! read more

Son, daughter and I stopped in for a hot lunch on a cold rainy day. Read some great reviews and a hot bowl of ramen sounded just right for the weather. Parking is on the street, but I could see a lot behind the building, maybe a city lot for patrons of these shops. Nice warm and inviting restaurant, with a glass back wall and counter top to watch the staff build your ramen or other dishes. Seating was ample and they have a wall of photos - I guess of past guests. We had two appetizers - gyoza with kimchi and beef - I believe five pieces and some dipping sauce. Tasted good, not spicy. 2nd app was Karaage or Japanese fried chicken. Nuggets of fresh fried boneless chicken with some Japanese mayo and green onion - nice and crispy and hot. Plenty to share among 3 adults. We had one spicy miso tonkotsu and classic shio ramen bowls. All, were piping hot broth and noodles. Plenty of noodles, a nice large slice of chashu pork, scallions and other veg. The class ship had ad'l bamboo slices, fried garlic and ginger chips on the edges. The dishes were hot, but not spicy. Staff were very attentive, brought a pitcher of ice water to the table and checked in on us. The owner was nearby and we showed him our appreciation for the hot dishes. Definitely worth a trip if you want a bowl of hot ramen noodles. read more
Update- August 25, 2023 We went here for a weeknight dinner. I ordered Veggie Ramen with Kimchi. Wifey ordered Shoyu Chicken Ramen. Busy place lots of young people eating dinner. Veggie Noodle soup with kimchi cost $17, mea Our ordered food is delicious, but still in small serving. The soup is less, you'll pay $2 more for additional Shoyu ramen and miso soup if we decided to get more soup as per their menu. The place is well lighted and nice. read more
When I'm sick, I have 2 go to items: 1. Moms chicken noodle soup 2. A good spicy Ramen Menyas Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen did the trick this week. It was so good I ordered twice! - The broth is quite flavorful. It's got a great kick, although I would recommend the side of homemade chilli oil for a little extra spice. *** The only con I would say is the amount of broth. The ramen cost $19. It was $8 for the extra portion of broth. They could have definitely provided more broth, but the quality is very good. - The noodles are perfect, wavy, and thin cut. - The pork was very tender. Not chewy. Perfectly portioned. - The takeout packaging is great - everything was well separated for ease of reheating! I found them over uber eats! You can get their delicious food without needing to leave the house. The perfect remedy to get you back on your feet! read more
What a wonderful lunch with delicious food I had with my family! Firstly, let's discuss about parking. We did street parking. There is an alleyway to drive in for parking spots in the back of the building, but it looks like they are not for Menya but next door restaurants. The street parking here weren't bad at all compare to Philly. $0.50 for an hr. Yea you read that right. Once I walked in, a staff greeted me and asked me how many people through a window. There is another door to step into the restaurant dining area. After she direct me to go in, she quickly seated me. The place itself is small, with only a few tables and bar tables. Very clean all around the place, including their high chair and restroom. And it seems like the staff and chefs were Korean, as I heard Korean language in the back. Overall dine in service was excellent! We did the couple set from the menu, which includes 2 ramen and/or donburi (rice), plus 3 appetizers. The takoyaki was big and soft with a light crisp on the outside. Hand-made fried beef gyoza was really crunchy. Finally, the fried Karaage Kushi was one that I enjoyed the most. You can just taste the crispy squid on every bite. My husband decided to get the Spicy miso tonkatsu with chashu on the side and I got the Truffle shio to try. The soup base taste pretty good to me. My only disappointment was the Truffle shio actually comes in straight ramen instead of the wavy ramen like the spicy miso tonkatsu. But the ramen wasn't bad at all. The appetizers were pretty good too. If I live around the area, I might return occasionally. read more

The food was delish! it's not that expensive and it really good and also spicy. the chicken is very yummy too. The service was perfect. The staff were really nice. They even had Ramune!!! the place is clean and the food is well made and it shows. Unfortunately it's about 40 minutes away from where i live :( read more

I loved this place! The staff were welcoming and kind. When we got there, it was pretty empty but quickly became full of people. We loved everything! The way the fried squid was made was unexpected, wasn't of thing! The fried chicken was my fav! Overall had a great experience and definitely going back! read more
Not super impressed. Small portion size and the meat was wayyyyy overcooked. However the broth was well balanced and not overly salty. The customer service was mediocre. Saw the guy once when he came to place the order and once when he dropped off the food. No "how's your day going?" "how's the food?" "Is there anything else you would like?" I get it if there's a ton of people to tend to, but it's just plain subpar if it's one person tending three tables in the entire restaurant. Also parking was a pain. Had to find street parking in the middle of what appeared to be an event showcasing sports cars that lined the road. read more
A small and cozy ramen shop with awesome service and delicious food! We came on a Friday around 6 and it was getting busy already! The staff are super friendly, checking in on us and asking if we had questions about the menu. They had a couple set which came with 2 entrees (ramen or dons) and 3 appetizers! We got the shoyu ramen and tonkotsu ramen! For appetizer we got takoyaki, gyoza, and karage! The ramen may seem small at first but you definitely get full from it! It tastes very homey which I loved! The tonkotsu was extremely tasty! I'd definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area! read more

I went here last week with a group of friends. We were told to arrive early and there would be plenty of seats. I waked in around 5pm on a Saturday and the place was empty! It was perfect. One of the owners was there and he moved tables to fit all 11 of us. It seemed like we rented out the place for ourselves! We all got something different from the menu. I got the Vegan Kimchi Ramen with the kimchi on the side. I am glad I did that because the kimchi was spicy but I gave it to my friend who loved it! Slowly, other guests arrived at the restaurant and filled in all the tables around us. There were also food delivery workers coming in to pick up food. This little place was packed! We would definitely come back to this ramen house soon. I would love to try the other vegan ramen bowl that they had! read more
I was really hoping for a better experience here. The fried squid appetizer was possibly the best ramen shop appetizer I have had to date. Extremely tender and well seasoned. I thought the house made beef gyoza was slightly lacking in quantity of filling. Very fresh and great taste. The Ramen. $17 base with 1 slice of pork and no egg. Add an egg $2 and if you wanted another piece of pork it was $5. The bowl itself seemed small as it was. With that said the product is extremely tasty. Broth was super silky and creamy and the noodles (i asked for wavy and firm) were done perfectly. For the amount their charging and for the quantity your getting. Not sure if its justified. The $2 egg was cold in the center which is always disappointing and it was over done. I want a soft gooey yolk dripping center. I also hate these modernized steep sided bowls. These things suck! Its a pain to get your spoon in on the broth. Taste was great so go here and try a bowl Atleast once. I would come back and request a different style bowl because i did see some around. read more

I have never slurped a ramen broth down to the last drop til Menya Ramen. But perhaps also, their portions were just the perfect amount. At first, I was thinking, my husband's Spicy Miso Tonkotsu tasted way better than my basic Classic Shoyu. You would have agreed, too. It had that full body richness and silkiness you'd expect from hours of boiling pork bones and such, to extract all that deep flavors mixed with the right spice and some pleasant sweetness, probably from the corn. However, I appreciated my Shoyu much more because it was light and soothing, clearer seemingly honest without added frills, not even ajitama. Noodles were delicious! I'm a greedy eater, so I tend to pick up a thickfull of noodles to better savour the texture. One day, I'll learn to eat ramen more daintily. Place is super clean with very nice staff. All they need is a cool Playlist. read more

Ramen has to be one of my favorite foods and I love the unique flavors Menya brings with their use of charred corn, red onions, and kimchi. So excited to go back and turn more people into fans of this place. The staff was also super friendly and kind. 10/10 service. read more
One thing I was I knew was that there is parking right behind this restaurant! I spent so look trying to look for street parking and found this as I got there. The restaurant is pretty easy to find. I got the spicy miso which you could get from a spice level of 1-3. I got the 3 and it was pretty good, not too spicy but a good kick. I added an egg and kimchi which added good flavor. The broth is full of flavor, I definitely recommend! We got the deal for 2 people where you get 2 ramen and 3 apps. We got the edamame, the octopus app, and the veggie gyoza. Menya has probably been on my list to try for a good year and we finally were able to try! This cute little place on Main St. in Metuchen seats plenty despite the small looking size. You can make a reservation in case as it does fill up very quickly. We had the couple set for $45 that included two bowls of ramen of your choice, and 3 appetizers. We had the gyoza, takoyaki and the Fried Karaage Kushi (Squid) skewers. The squid skewers were the star of the apps for sure. For ramen, I had the spicy miso tonkatsu and added an egg (THIS IS A MUST). I normally don't finish my bowls of ramen but I did for what seemed like the first time. The chefs here don't add unncessary fillers like bamboo shoot, mushrooms and useless veggies. Everything they add to your bowl definitely contributes the overall taste and combo and holy hell was it amazing! Will definitely be back again! Parking tip: Park on pearl st! read more

We really loved our experience here: Luis was very attentive and was so helpful to try to accommodate our allergies as much as possible. The ramen was nice and hot, and it was just the right amount. Not too much, not too little. The atmosphere is also very homey with the music in the background adding to the peaceful and trendy feel. Although, it is a tad bit pricier than in other places I've been to, I still appreciated the service and the execution of the ramen, so it was worth it in my book. *Just a warning: if you have a gluten allergy, they boil the gluten free noodles in the same water they boil the regular noodles. Luis let us know that before we ordered and we decided to go ahead. That was our choice, and it wasn't one the best decisions. Lesson learned on my part. Heh. read more
My friend brought me here to see what I think about their ramen here. Cleanliness: The restaurant is clean with no garbage on the tables and the staff cleans the tables right after. The staff: They are friendly and are patient when you are not sure what you want to order. They ask you how everything is when you are done with you meal and they thank you for coming. The menu: They have a very limited menu for you to choose from. If they expand their menu then it would be better because some people like a variety of choices when it comes to ramen. Fried Gyoza: This has a crunch to it on the outer layer and the inside has the perfect taste to it. The sauce gives it more flavor but you do not really need it. Shio Ramen: The noodles are cooked to perfection and has the right amount of taste to it. Although, the portion is a little small for me and it felt like a light lunch. Spicy Miso Tonkotsu: This is small for its portion as well but has a hint of the spiciness. If they gave a little more noodles then it would be a bit better. Overall: If you want a light lunch then this is the place to go for some ramen. The staff here is fantastic because they check up on you after you are done with your meal. read more
