The perfect place to stop for a casual dine in for great ramen. The menu is simple, but the flavor is BOLD. I opted for the spirit lifter. Super flavorful. We were impressed by the plentiful portions. My husband enjoyed one of the spicy ramen options. The only downside would be sitting on a stool (not the most comfy) and the proteins like the chicken and pork not being cut prior to serving. The service was quick and friendly. I appreciated that they offer gluten free noodles and are knowledgeable on what else, other than the noodles, contains gluten. Although we were a large group and it was a small place, they were able to accommodate all of us, which I deeply appreciated. Service was fast, efficient, and did not disappoint! Son, daughter and I stopped in for a hot lunch on a cold rainy day. Read some great reviews and a hot bowl of ramen sounded just right for the weather. Parking is on the street, but I could see a lot behind the building, maybe a city lot for patrons of these shops. Nice warm and inviting restaurant, with a glass back wall and counter top to watch the staff build your ramen or other dishes. Seating was ample and they have a wall of photos - I guess of past guests. We had two appetizers - gyoza with kimchi and beef - I believe five pieces and some dipping sauce. Tasted good, not spicy. 2nd app was Karaage or Japanese fried chicken. Nuggets of fresh fried boneless chicken with some Japanese mayo and green onion - nice and crispy and hot. Plenty to share among 3 adults. We had one spicy miso tonkotsu and classic shio ramen bowls. All, were piping hot broth and noodles. Plenty of noodles, a nice large slice of chashu pork, scallions and other veg. The class ship had ad'l bamboo slices, fried garlic and ginger chips on the edges. The dishes were hot, but not spicy. Staff were very attentive, brought a pitcher of ice water to the table and checked in on us. The owner was nearby and we showed him our appreciation for the hot dishes. There is an alleyway to drive in for parking spots in the back of the building, but it looks like they are not for Menya but next door restaurants. The street parking here weren't bad at all compare to Philly. $0.50 for an hr. Yea you read that right. Once I walked in, a staff greeted me and asked me how many people through a window. There is another door to step into the restaurant dining area. After she direct me to go in, she quickly seated me. The place itself is small, with only a few tables and bar tables. Very clean all around the place, including their high chair and restroom. And it seems like the staff and chefs were Korean, as I heard Korean language in the back. Overall dine in service was excellent! We did the couple set from the menu, which includes 2 ramen and/or donburi (rice), plus 3 appetizers. The takoyaki was big and soft with a light crisp on the outside. Hand-made fried beef gyoza was really crunchy. Finally, the fried Karaage Kushi was one that I enjoyed the most. You can just taste the crispy squid on every bite. My husband decided to get the Spicy miso tonkatsu with chashu on the side and I got the Truffle shio to try. The soup base taste pretty good to me. My only disappointment was the Truffle shio actually comes in straight ramen instead of the wavy ramen like the spicy miso tonkatsu. But the ramen wasn't bad at all. I went here last week with a group of friends. We were told to arrive early and there would be plenty of seats. I waked in around 5pm on a Saturday and the place was empty! It was perfect. One of the owners was there and he moved tables to fit all 11 of us. It seemed like we rented out the place for ourselves! We all got something different from the menu. I got the Vegan Kimchi Ramen with the kimchi on the side. I am glad I did that because the kimchi was spicy but I gave it to my friend who loved it! Slowly, other guests arrived at the restaurant and filled in all the tables around us. There were also food delivery workers coming in to pick up food. This little place was packed! I thought the house made beef gyoza was slightly lacking in quantity of filling. Very fresh and great taste. The Ramen. $17 base with 1 slice of pork and no egg. Add an egg $2 and if you wanted another piece of pork it was $5. The bowl itself seemed small as it was. With that said the product is extremely tasty. Broth was super silky and creamy and the noodles (i asked for wavy and firm) were done perfectly. For the amount their charging and for the quantity your getting. Not sure if its justified. The $2 egg was cold in the center which is always disappointing and it was over done. I want a soft gooey yolk dripping center. I also hate these modernized steep sided bowls. These things suck! Its a pain to get your spoon in on the broth. Taste was great so go here and try a bowl Atleast once. I would come back and request a different style bowl because i did see some around. read more

I have never slurped a ramen broth down to the last drop til Menya Ramen. But perhaps also, their portions were just the perfect amount. At first, I was thinking, my husband's Spicy Miso Tonkotsu tasted way better than my basic Classic Shoyu. You would have agreed, too. It had that full body richness and silkiness you'd expect from hours of boiling pork bones and such, to extract all that deep flavors mixed with the right spice and some pleasant sweetness, probably from the corn. However, I appreciated my Shoyu much more because it was light and soothing, clearer seemingly honest without added frills, not even ajitama. Noodles were delicious! I'm a greedy eater, so I tend to pick up a thickfull of noodles to better savour the texture. One day, I'll learn to eat ramen more daintily. Place is super clean with very nice staff. It's OK. Sometimes I get really frustrated with food options in Bergen. Its not bad by any means. It's just not great. But that's just how food generally is in this part of Bergen, in particular many ethnic foods. Same for more budget friendly food. With tax and tip i paid about $32. Tonkatsu ramen, egg, and 8 shishito peppers. $17 for a ramen. $6 for 8 shishito peppers. $32.... of which $6 for 8 shishito peppers. Looking at that price makes me nauseous. Ramen is supposed to be a cheap dine out. I mean I've eaten at plenty of pricier ramen joints where ive felt fulfilled. There are some really good ramen joints. There is such good ramen in NYC. I guess thats just the restaurant experience now a days. On the plus? Service was good. The place was clean. The bathroom is right off the middle of the restaurant. The TP was thin one ply, and they request used TP be thrown in to a wastebasket. Gross. Apparently they also have a problem with people flushing trash and feminine hygiene products. And people smoking/vaping in the bathroom. We aren't in a 3rd world country. Its not a divy hole in the wall. This isn't some run down area. The restaurant is in one of the richest parts of America. One thing I was I knew was that there is parking right behind this restaurant! I spent so look trying to look for street parking and found this as I got there. The restaurant is pretty easy to find. I got the spicy miso which you could get from a spice level of 1-3. I got the 3 and it was pretty good, not too spicy but a good kick. I added an egg and kimchi which added good flavor. You can make a reservation in case as it does fill up very quickly. We had the couple set for $45 that included two bowls of ramen of your choice, and 3 appetizers. We had the gyoza, takoyaki and the Fried Karaage Kushi (Squid) skewers. The squid skewers were the star of the apps for sure. For ramen, I had the spicy miso tonkatsu and added an egg (THIS IS A MUST). I normally don't finish my bowls of ramen but I did for what seemed like the first time. The chefs here don't add unncessary fillers like bamboo shoot, mushrooms and useless veggies. We really loved our experience here: Luis was very attentive and was so helpful to try to accommodate our allergies as much as possible. The ramen was nice and hot, and it was just the right amount. Not too much, not too little. The atmosphere is also very homey with the music in the background adding to the peaceful and trendy feel. My friend brought me here to see what I think about their ramen here. Cleanliness: The restaurant is clean with no garbage on the tables and the staff cleans the tables right after. The staff: They are friendly and are patient when you are not sure what you want to order. They ask you how everything is when you are done with you meal and they thank you for coming. The menu: They have a very limited menu for you to choose from. If they expand their menu then it would be better because some people like a variety of choices when it comes to ramen. Fried Gyoza: This has a crunch to it on the outer layer and the inside has the perfect taste to it. The sauce gives it more flavor but you do not really need it. Shio Ramen: The noodles are cooked to perfection and has the right amount of taste to it. Although, the portion is a little small for me and it felt like a light lunch. Spicy Miso Tonkotsu: This is small for its portion as well but has a hint of the spiciness. If they gave a little more noodles then it would be a bit better.
