It was a Saturday night and it was fairly empty which was great since we got a seat quick! I had to start with a guava ice tea; anything guava I am ordering. Been awhile since we been here, looks like it's under new management. Place looks the same not much just changed from the inside and outside just new management and cook. Black garlic Ramen - broth was very watery had to take teaspoonfuls to try to figure out what the flavor was, and the meat was not very tender Steak Ramen - same deal, bro very bland and watery and the steak was chewy with no flavor Fried squid - my son said it was OK, but it was a little rubbery and undercooked for my taste Service was slow, not very friendly and it's a shame this used to be one of our go to places for Ramen and appetizers. It's got a generous portion of charsiu that's very tender and flavorful. Bamboo is smelly, kikurage mushrooms, red ginger ,fish cake was starchy and too soft , scallion,,black garlic oil, pork soup base is sub par, not umami and was not boiling hot. I went here recently for a birthday party. The space is a bit small. The decor and paintings on the walls were exciting especially for anime fans. Initially this is why we had eaten here. We were greeted at the door and were told we can sit wherever we wanted to. It took over 30 minutes for someone to come and take their drink order. They did not seem to be short staffed. One of our friends in the party decided to go by the register to get someone to take our drink order. It took another 30 minutes to get our drink order and it came sporadically. We did not order any alcohol or any drink that would take a lot of time. We had ordered mostly sodas and waters. We had ordered some appetizers. This had taken more than 45 minutes to get. The pork fries appetizer was absolutely tasty and amazing. The other appetizers that we had ordered were mediocre. We had put in our orders for entrees. The entrees were exactly about an hour to get our entrees that we thought they had forgotten about us. When the entrees arrived they had gotten a lot of our orders confused and had to go back to the kitchen a handful of times. The food tasted burnt and it was dreadful to continue to eat. The chicken was way overcooked and you could not bite through it. Most of my part had gotten the ramen and I got the chicken katsu. Came to check out Rayaki for the first time on a Saturday evening. For appetizers we started with the fried sticky rice cakes and gyoza. The fried sticky rice cakes were my personal favorite out of the two. I really love the texture of the rice cakes and the honey and spicy mayo sauce was delicious. I honestly could have eaten that whole plate by myself. As for the gyoza it was okay. I'm honestly not a huge fan of dumplings. So I would personally skip them and order a different appetizer if I were to return. As for my main entree I went with the Black Garlic Ramen. This ramen has Cha Shu (Marinated Pork), bamboo, kikurage mushrooms, red ginger, fish cake, scallions, black garlic oil, pork soup base, seasoned egg. It wasn't too bad and it was pretty filling but I think the next time I may try the pork belly over rice. It wasn't too busy around the time I went which was around 5pm. The vibe was not inviting and the workers seemed to just keep to themselves and didn't greet us right away to talk about the process. Ordered pork katsu, black garlic ramen, and fried squid. All I'm saiyan is that Rayaki is super! Come for the Instagram famous murals on all four walls of your favorite anime characters, but stay for the fantastic food. There is a wide assortment of ramen to try, and I appreciated there were so many seafood and vegetarian options (really hard to eat ramen when most places only have pork broth). I was also surprised to learn a little about Japanese cooking techniques. This restaurant employs "robatayaki", which involves cooking over coals. Sure enough, the shrimp in my ramen were charred and smoky. This is an authentic dining experience I've never had at any other Japanese restaurant in the US! This restaurant is located at the end of a strip mall. Staff was polite and attentive. My food came out quickly. The anime decor is eye catching. I ate the Chicken Katsu Ramen. It was mediocre. I finished the whole thing, and I thought it was a reasonable amount of food for the $15 price. The flavor was lackluster, mostly it just tasted like salty broth with some pieces of grated fresh ginger in it. The chicken was not flavorful at all, and I did not finish all the pieces of chicken. The table sauce containers looked old and not cleaned ever. I placed an online order for pickup. Ordered the Black Garlic Ramen and Fried EBI. The Pork in the Ramen was BBQ'd, overcooked and not fresh. The Bambo was slimy and the egg was days old . The Fried EBI was disgraceful! The shrimp was old and it looked as if they were just repurposing already cooked shrimp by frying it in a sloppy bread coating that breaks apart in crumbles the moment you bite into it. I ordered through GrubHub so I'm not sure if the service and ambiance of the in-restaurant experience so I cannot speak on that but I was pretty disappointed with my order. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen. The noodles themselves were very tough and stuck together. The cha siu was burnt, many bitter pieces and that was the most disappointing part. I also ordered the Bubble Milk Tea which was ok but this isn't a boba cafe and so my review is reflective of only the ramen. It seemed that they had just cut up pieces of pork chop. Also there were several ginger pieces which really just dominated the taste. These place is really gimmicky, with various manga characters on the walls and on TV. In fact theres a few guests wearing their Comicon related clothes. The 2 girls, one is inside preparing the food and the other is the host yelling "what do you want? Sit over there!" I came back here last night and everything is still about the same. The walls are beautifully decorated and the wait staff is super friendly and quick with their service. We got the rayaki fries again - still the best thing there! We also ordered a few different skewers to share. They were a lot smaller than I had expected but they tasted pretty good. I did also try the chashu pork baos and would recommend those! The ramen here is honestly just okay. I got the tonkotsu ramen and did enjoy the flavor of the broth but I felt like the pork was pretty dry and didn't really tie the whole dish in together. I stoped by here to pick up a takeout dinner on my way home from EWR. I was going to Joon's Hwu Ru, somehow I ended up on this side of plaza with GPS instruction. They have lots of Ramen options, but I prefer not to carry the soup for one-hour drive home. I ordered Softs Shell Crab Bao and Pork Belly over Rice. The Soft Shell Crab was tasty but the bun contained too much sauce. The pork belly had way too much fat and was not really enjoyable. The sides of marinated egg with broccoli and yellow daikon slices were nothing special. Will have to the ramen at their Cherry Hill store next time. The first thing you notice when you walk in here is the decorated walls with various anime drawings and paintings covering floor-to-ceiling. If you are a fan of anime you owe it to yourself to check this place out at least once. The first time we visited my wife and I had no clue about the internal decor and were pleasantly surprised by the art on the walls it had a really cool vibe that we were happy we got to experience. The food here was pretty good We split some rice cakes as well as some pork buns which is a staple when we get ramen The ramen was also very good and I have no complaints about it a big plus is that they have their own parking lot and you don't have to drive around as you may at some other spots in New Brunswick.
