This is a pretty standard place in terms of boba, which is the only thing that we got. In the sea of increasingly fancy drinks, these just fell a little flat. We came in off of a glowing recommendation of the brown sugar boba drink. The brown sugar milk itself was good, although we agreed they could have added a bit more brown sugar to make the flavor more pronounced. The main problem all of us had was the boba. This place is deceptive. It's a lot larger than I'd imagine from the exterior. But holy does this place fit a good amount of people. Plus if you stay until 9pm on a Saturday night, there were no seats available and you can barely squeeze your way through to the bathroom. But perhaps it was that busy because it was st Patrick's Day. I came here for the poke and I left happy! The service was great. He asked me what I wanted, explained the menu, gave me a pen and I'm all set. If you want boba with your order it's a $2 add on (the price was raised from original $1). The Taro and Thai bubble teas were good but they don't have the option to change the sweetness so it was pretty sugary for my taste. Maybe it wasn't cooked long enough. I didn't try the other flavors but I noticed that when I was holding the bottom of the milk tea where the tapioca was, it was really hot. My almond drink wasn't hot to the touch but when I stirred the tapioca, I had to let it sit for a few minutes because the drink became warm. The restaurant itself is minimal in appearance, they have a few tables inside but the tables to the outside are especially interesting because they have little grooves in the middle where you can put your keys, cell phone or wallet while you eat. The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is the ordering procedure seems a bit wasteful since you have to write on a paper menu what you want on the bowls and than they throw it away, maybe a dry erase board can alleviate that? If I was writing a review only for their bubble tea, I'd give 4/5 stars easy. I've been to Q Tea Tapas twice - the first time only trying their bubble tea and the second to get more bubble tea but also try their sushiritos. I was bragging to my husband after my first visit because I really did enjoy their tapioca pearls. Out of all the bubble tea places I've been to, their tapioca was cooked to absolutely perfection! I love all the customizable options they have for their teas, the toppings, flavors, just everything about their bubble tea is good to me. I recently had their "half n' half" bubble tea which is half pudding half smoothie and it was a real treat. Their taro bubble tea and Thai tea are also winners. Make sure when you order from their "Customer Favorites" menu to specify you want it or else you just get the regular tea instead of the customized version. What really brings down my rating is my recent trip to try their sushirito. We got our order to go. Once we were able to dig into it (within ten minutes) we found it not at all flavorful. It just lacked something that we couldn't put our finger on. The seafood also wasn't as fresh and it just fell apart. Okay okay..the interior is kinda janky. I've lived here for years but put off coming here because there are a lot prettier and cleaner places to get boba tea in fort lee. But, I get why this hole-in-the-wall joint is hyped up. They are pretty inventive with their flavors and offer a lot of boba fillers besides just your regular black tapioca balls.
