We went for a family lunch on Saturday noon. I was so happy to see they had a parking lot in the back side of the restaurant, a rare feature for Fort Lee restaurants. The restaurant had a nice interior, fancy bar, lots of arts and Cuban vibes all around. They had booth seating by the window that had good view of Hudson Terrace and I-9. We started our lunch with appetizer sampler that came with empanadas, croquettes, bao bans and potstickers. I liked both the empanadas (beef and chicken), the chicken potstickers were also good. Ham croquettes and the bao buns with shredded beef were average. For entree I ordered the Rabo Encendido (braised oxtail stew). It came with three pieces of bone with plenty of meat on them, on side of rice and beans. I loved the taste of the oxtail and the stew, was flavorful and meat was tender. I also got to try the seafood paella which lacked flavor, rice was so bland. The chicken & waffle's waffle was good but the fried chicken pieces were so basic. I got the mango mojito (non-achohol) that was so tasty, I ordered two of them. Our server was super nice, did an excellent job throughout the lunch. All staff members were friendly. We have passed by Kuba thousands of times finally got a chance to check it out today. Honestly I expected more from the food. Nice decor and welcoming vibes in the bar and dining areas. It has 2 levels. The staff were all nice and attentive. Unfortunately, the seafood paella was under seasoned. Very blend. Did not give me the saffron taste at all. Portion of seafood was generous. But again, blend. Chicken and waffle was dry. At least the chicken was seasoned on this one. Appetizer sampler was not bad. Get to try beef/chicken empanadas, chicken baos, pork croquettes, friend chicken dumplings. Ox tail was also blend to me. Celebrated a friend's birthday here on a Friday night and we had a blast! The food was delicious, the drinks were flowing and the live band was amazing! Everyone in our party enjoyed themselves. There is a parking lot in the back but it was full at the time, but there is plenty of street parking right in front and across the street. Our waiter was so patient with us and extremely attentive. I came here for lunch with my family on a Sunday afternoon. I'm surprised there's a Cuban restaurant in Fort Lee which usually just has Asian restaurants. Also, they have their own parking lot which was rare in Fort Lee. We ordered the tamale appetizer, the Cuban sandwich, the pernil, and the stuffed flounder. The waiter was super nice and actually said the stuffed flounder was his favorite dish. The food was fresh and delicious, the stuffed flounder was definitely the standout dish. It's a dish I don't see much on menus in other restaurants. I also really liked the fresh homemade plantain chips that came with the Cuban sandwich. I've been to Kuba a bunch of times now.. at least four times, enjoying brunch, dinner, and their late-night menu with drinks and music. The atmosphere is inviting, with beautiful interior décor and a clean, well-maintained space. The service is excellent, the bartender is friendly and he makes bomb drinks. The food is delicious. They have live music... they had a dj once but not sure if that still happens. I also appreciate the convenience of their parking lot. I think they need to have the Crab Rangoon as a regular appetizer on the menu.... It was a Valentine's day special but so amazing! Just a disclaimer! You'll enjoy this restaurant if you want Cuban food. It's advertised as Cuban-Asian fusion, but 90% of the menu is Cuban dishes. There's only a few Asian inspired dishes randomly scattered on the menu like fried rice, poke bowls, and bao buns. No kimchi, no bulgogi, no noodles, no curry, no spring rolls, no sushi. Very little fusion between the two cultures at all. With that out of the way... I've been here a couple of times to either grab a drink at the bar or dine-in. Always a positive experience. Good food, good drinks, good service, good music, and dancing... I can't complain. My go-to dish is the churrasco, a 14 oz grilled skirt steak with chimichurri. It comes with a side of either rice or maduros (sweet plantains). It's very filling and the steak is juicy and tender. The bartenders do an excellent job with the cocktails. I ate here last night for the first time. The service was excellent - our server Jessica could not have been better. We shared two appetizers - coconut shrimp & skirt steak tacos - really good! The third - pork belly- cooked the Cuban way (well done & too crunchy) - didn't meet our expectations. BUT, management did the totally right & correct thing - took it right off our bill with no problem at all - and then comped us a lovely dessert. I will always go back to a restaurant that treats its customers correctly with politeness and positivity. The inside is super cute and has a speakeasy ambiance and vibe, which I absolutely love. It still has that bar and restaurant atmosphere with the large tv behind the bar. Service is good, they don't forget about you. However, the drinks are pretty but weak, especially when they're like $14 each, it can certainly use a little more spirit. The appetizers were my favorite, especially with the sampler option, you get a little bit of everything. My favorites were the empanadas and ham croquettes, we didn't even get to the bao buns, but I'm sure they will be good tomorrow when I hear them up. The paella was decent, but the best part is by far the meats, the seafood was good minus the mussels because for me it was slightly chewy. I enjoyed the shrimp, squid, and baby scallops. The restaurant was pretty busy with a couple of large parties including our own but they managed the service very well! Quite surprised to be honest haha The overall feel of the place gives an intimate setting which would be ideal for a date night for sure. The food: I love it! The sampler I was BOMB, it was nice to truly get a bit of some of the popular items on the appetizers. My favorite were the Bao buns, HIGHLY recommend those. The fried rice, was pretty good. If I'm being honest it wasn't anything spectacular, BUT it was good. If I ever go back, I'd try other things under their main entrees. Overall I'd totally recommend this place 10/10! DO NOT GO HERE - THIS IS AN ABLEIST ESTABLISHMENT!! We called in advance and spoke to the manager Albie to ask if they could accommodate seating for a disabled patron in a permanent wheelchair. They said they could easily accommodate him for happy hour at the bar. When we showed up the restaurant was empty. When we spoke to ALBIE THE MANAGER that we spoke to before on the phone, he acted as if he didn't speak to us about this prior and said they cannot accommodate him at the bar. He proceeded to say that he can only provide a seat to our disabled friend if we agreed to pay an extra fee. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This has to be illegal and a violation of the ADA. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't ADA compliant across the board. We walked out - I'd understand more if the tables were reserved or if there was limited space, but this is disgusting behavior. I wonder if this was also because the party included only people of color. I will be sure to tell everyone I know to never give this place their business. read more

I've been to this place before it became Kuba. This place used to be a Korean restaurant and bar. Kuba was smart enough to close up their drive way and only have one way in and one way out this way only people that actually want to dine here and park here. I remember this place being darker with less lighting, but the ambiance and lighting that they put in definitely brightened up the place. My wife and I came here on a date night and we got to sit at the bar finally without kids. The bartender was good and provided excellent service. Felt like he knew everyone there. I'm assuming it's because they were all locals or regulars that come in for the same drink and dish. The food was alright. It wasn't amazing. I didn't think it had lots of flavor. I did give this place 4 stars because of the live music that was there and the bartender making good drinks. Besides that, the place wasn't anything special. I haven't been excited about returning to a restaurant in a long time. I went here for lunch and ordered a few things. I tried the combo platter and everything on there was delicious. I then ordered the pernill lunch special and that was amazing. Pernil is life. I've had pernil in many Spanish restaurants but this is the first time I can truly say that it was unforgettable. Some places make it like beef jerky, as in they salt the crap out of it and kinda makes your eyes water. Other places it's bland. I have to say that this may be the best pernil I've ever had, it was juicy and flavorful. It wasn't salted like you're going on a s sailboat voyage. I am looking forward to coming back. Main dish was lobster passion fried rice with passionfruit glaze, enough for two, but main flavor was more like burn browning sauce, edible but nowhere near to the flavor listed in the menu. Ate here recently on a weekday for lunch and place was empty so perhaps that's why. There is a nice ambiance though with the decor and music. FYI - the prices on their menu apply if you pay in cash otherwise there is a surcharge for credit cards. Knocked off stars for this because they do not have proper notices for this anywhere. They are required by NJ law [P.L. 2023, c.146 (N.J.S.A. 56:8-156.1 and -156.2)] to post clear signs and include it on their menu regardless if it's printed or digital (including QR code menus). read more

I had the pleasure to finally visit this awesome restaurant. I would always see it when I'd drive by the area but never had the chance to stop and try it until now and I'm glad I did. First, I was greeted by the host and since I like to sit at the bar I went straight to the bar. The bartenders are very nice, always with a smile on their face and very attentive. Looks like they enjoy working there. I had an espresso martini which has been my go to for about a year now. Great job. I had the pernil bowl which waa awesome. Very filling. I think two people can eat and be satisfied. It was really good. It was fried rice, pernil, a delicious sauce on top with yuca fries. I def recommend it. The over all feel is awesome. Very nice vibe. KUBA nailed it by thinking outside the box. Service was beyond standard from entrance to exit welcoming, accommodating, attentive, menu knowledgeable and friendly. Ambiance welcomes you visually and invites you to sit and enjoy the eclectic experience that is unapologetically Kuban (even the name). Seating is arranged in a fashion that feels simply comfortable whether out with friends, family, coworkers or a special dinner with someone special. No matter what your occasion or just out seeking a different type of bite to eat. KUBA is the destination to consider for fun, food and memories. KUBA is definitely a Yummy Tummy. As much as this place dresses and advertises itself as a "fusion" restaurant there is very little creativity or mixing of the cuisine. To be honest I was disappointed. There is potential here for something great yet its floundering. Don't get me wrong, the food and quality was good. The staff were really nice and the fried rice, which was like the only Asian inspired main entree, was very good. If this was just a normal Cuban restaurant I would give it like 4 stars. The problem is marketing. A fusion restaurant shouldn't have 90% of its menu basically be just Cuban food (Paella, Ropa Vieja, Mofongo) while the rest are occasional Asian things (bao bun... asian bowl?) There is very little mixing of the two cuisines to make something interesting or fun. What makes this particularly sad to me is that asian+latin fusion has basically been done by the Peruvians already! Lomo Saltado, Arroz Chaufa, Tallarin are all Peruvian staples that came from the Peruvian-Chinese community. A place like Kuba could easily take these traditional dishes and add some cuban variety to them. Think Tallarin combined with Ropa Vieja! But the only thing on the menu that comes close to this idea is their fried rice which combines plantains (if you do come here I recommend this dish.) Even their cocktails aren't inspired, and that is where the most fun in made up fusion cuisine can come from! No lychee based mojitos, no plum wine based mixed cocktails, nada. I think a good way to sum up this experience is that even though Kuba uses chopsticks in their logo.. you will not get chopsticks when you order their fried rice. No fun, all dressing. read more

The girls and I got together to get brunch. I made reservations for 2 pm. When we arrived we parked on the street nearby. We walked in and were greeted. We sat in the upstairs area. The place was super cute. Andres was our server/bartender, and he was awesome. We started with drinks and I got the red sangria. It was tasty til I got to the end where it tasted strange. Andres then changed it for another, which was nice. For my meal, I got the grilled flounder, and the meal was so healthy and tasty. I enjoyed it! My friends enjoyed their oxtail and pernil. We were seated on the second floor, and the atmosphere was great! It was relaxing and upbeat at the same time. We were a party of 3. I ordered the vaca fritta, and my friend ordered the ropa veija. Good experience for Asian Cuban food novices but more sophisticated tastes my be disappointed. I went to Kuba with a large party of 10 to celebrate my daughter birthday. Overall it was an ok experience. The Asian Cuban fusion food was fine but as a group we found it didn't really have the complex flavors that you would expect to find. The place is very nicely decorated with a very nice atmosphere and ambiance. I should note that my review is influenced by the fact that I am a Cuban-American who eats Cuban regularly. Further as my great grandmother was a Chinese Cantonese who migrated to Cuba, I've been eating Asian Cuban fusion since I was a child. This does cause me to be a harder grader of Cuban. read more

But Kuba definitely leans more towards Cuban than Asian. The crab cakes were my second favorite followed by croquettes and bao buns. The bao buns were not great because they were chewy. That was a strong foreshadow I missed. When it comes time for entrees. We got the ropa Vieja, Vaca Frita, and breaded chicken. I strongly recommend you not get the vaca Frita. Unfortunately I ordered that one and couldn't finish it. It was like eating beef jerky, unbelievably dry. You would have a crazy jaw workout eating it. The other entrees were good though! I decided to order food for delivery to avoid the loud music. The ceviche was bland, very little lemon juice and more salad than fish, the tostones were super stale and the ropa vieja with arroz moro was meh. Get the Bao Buns they are delicious. Their chicharron is really good and crispy. If you want some spice, ask them for their hot sauce. Cuban food is not known to be spicy but that hot sauce is so good, I asked for some to go with my leftovers. The drinks are good too. The place is nice and not too loud. Service was good. read more
