Last night, a Saturday, we came in for an anniversary celebratory dinner at what has become one of our favorite NYC spots: Redfarm has simply elevated Chinese takeout foods and dim sum to an upscale dining experience. This was our third visit overall, and the second to the upper west side location, and we've consistently been provided great food, drinks, and service. Drinks: Le Club hot - spicy cucumber margarita, made balanced and perfectly, hands-down a favorite Wet & Sandia - like a watermelon mojito but made with tequila, a bit on the sweeter side Food: (favorites) Hot & Sour Soup with Shrimp - so, so good. The soup is filled to the brim with mushrooms and hot sour soup goodness, and the broth is full of flavor that you'll be wanting every last drop. Filet mignon and broccoli - an upscale take on beef and broccoli , with meat that is nicely cooked but tender and overall delicious Udon noodles with grilled short ribs - tender, flavorful bone-in short ribs in a hefty portion of delicious udon noodles and vegetables Jumbo shrimp and cashews, XO sauce - also loved this one, portions are large, plenty of cashews and vegetables in a well done light sauce and six jumbo shrimp While you can't go wrong with any of the dumplings, we enjoyed the pan fried pork buns, the pan-fried shrimp, corn, and chive dumplings, and the pork and crab soup dumplings. Of the three, the soup dumplings were our favorite and we'd definitely get them again. Desserts: Ice cream sandwich - while they look small in photos, and have a mundane name, we loved the various ice cream in the dish and all four flavors were well made. Truly delectable. Key lime pie slice - RedFarm sent us this for our celebratory dinner - as normally key lime pie is not on our radar. Served with a scoop of lemon sorbet, this was solid and hit all the right spots. With a cute farmhouse vibe and overall great service from the entire team (they all work together seamlessly) - keep RedFarm on your shortlist when you want Chinese food and want to kick it up a notch. It's not an inexpensive meal by any means, but worth a stop for sure. Added bonus: if you use the inKind app, you can get cash back and/or bonus bucks (through inKind) to spend in inKind restaurants, including RedFarm!

We were well taken care of before, during, and after our meal. The manager checked and double-checked to make sure I would be able to have a meal that worked with my diet. They maneuvered getting us a spot where our stroller could be table side. All of this took effort, but it looked effortless. Then there was the meal itself: An amazing pastrami egg roll, fantastic soup dumplings, and really great sweet and sour chicken. All arrived quickly, tasted great, and was reasonably-priced (at least, by UWS standards.) Our waiter was attentive but low-key. The setting was hip, but I also saw a few other families around. Tl;dr - If your experience here is half as good as ours, you're in for a great meal. Odds are it'll be even better, though.

The service at Obao is always prompt and helpful, whether it's questions about the menu or recommendations, anyone is willing to help. For our entrees, my mother ordered the Pad Thai, and my father and I ordered the Pho Bó. My mom absolutely loved the Pad Thai! The Pho Bó was incredible. The broth was so delectable, and it was honestly the best broth that I have ever had. The portions were also incredible, especially for the price and being in the city! Once we received the check, we noticed that next to the Pho Bó, it stated that it is Michelin Recommended, and we completely understand why! We are looking forward to going back!

This restaurant sits comfortably on the middle of the block and definitely looks like it's been there for a while. I think for over 30 years? Yes I came for the fried chicken and green sauce. They have a $15.50 lunch special but ended up picking up dinner since I was finally in the area. The #12 Crackling Chicken (white meat) w/ Pork Fried Rice is $26. The portion is Very Generous! Literally 6 large pieces of chicken breast (split open thinly & battered). I made sure to ask for the green sauce & they gave me a little bag of 3 containers. It's a kind of cilantro garlic herby aoli. I always expect a kind of Mama's Empanadas (Colombian) spicy version, but this (maybe Peruvian?) will always be mayo-forward? It's tasty, but nothing *So special - better than the Chino Peruvian place in my Queens neighborhood; but idk it's mayo. For some reason they gave me a House Special Fried Rice instead of the Pork Fried Rice that comes with the order. This was excellent! (Haven't had American-style Chinese Food in years...cuz when you grow up selling quality versions of it...) Had large cubes of seared! ham, char sui (Roast Pork) & bouncy shrimp. Nice umami undertones. About the chicken - it was good, medium crispy, medium juicy, slightly brined & well made. BUT - it's Just Fried Chicken. TBH after a few bites, I wonder if they're inspired by Popeyes. The chicken meat is better than Popeyes, but overall that's what it reminded me of (& Popeyes does a good job btw). IDK - I was influenced to expect some kind of special seasoning with the chicken, maybe a Chinese salt & pepper blend? I wonder if I'd like the bone-in chicken / dark meat option more. I recommend this combo meal, would be interested in seeing how their other dishes are if I had a group to eat with. Happy to support a small business. I froze the other 3 chicken pieces for a future meal. Wonder if one of the little green sauces freezes well too. The restaurant feels really homey and was full on a 6:30 PM on a Sunday. But people didn't seem to have to wait too long. There were a few customers waiting for to-go orders alongside me at the front bar area. It's funny when the young staff acts abruptly rude "How many!", but you know they're 2nd Gen. hope this business sticks around for many more years, very 80's - 90's Chinese American Latin feel!

The pork chop was a bit too salty for me, but my friend really enjoyed how crispy it was. The roasted chicken was a standout for me, especially the sauce. My son loved the yellow rice so much he ignored the fries! Overall, there was something for everyone at the table. My friends ordered different dishes and everyone was really happy with their food too. Everything came out fresh, hot, and well-seasoned. Definitely a place that delivers when it comes to the food. Now... the drinks We ordered what they call a "nutcracker," and I'm not even going to sugarcoat it--it was one of the nastiest drinks I've ever had. One of my friends couldn't even finish hers and had to order something else. Me and my other friend powered through it, but yeah... we definitely did NOT go back for round two. So overall:Food = 10/10 Drinks = 2/10 I would absolutely go back for the food alone, no question--but next time, I'm skipping the nutcracker and sticking to something safer.
