Delicious food court never disappoints. Easy parking. My favorite is the salmon and anchovy onigiri. Pretty clean bathrooms and spacious seating for the food court.

Red bean paste jelly !!! This is why I come to Mitsuwa.

When I need to get some red bean paste jelly for my dad .... Old yes, and anyone of that age, especially Korean and Japanese would know what this red bean paste jelly tastes like. Sweet. Mushy. Hahaha Mitsuwa definitely has all sorts of Japanese products, since they have a limited selection of produce, I believe my visit is not that frequent. However, the food court !!! Yummmmmm. Japanese ramen, and the donkatsu !!! People will line up on weekends at the food court.

Honestly this place is amazing. Came here for lunch & grocery shopping and walked out with WAY more than we should have. LOVE this place and everything in it.

I've figured out the real pro move. If you're there on a weekend for lunch, it want o avoid the insane crowd and fight for a table - we arrived at 10:30am. Perfect timing - all the restaurants were open with the exception of ramen (they open at 11 and a small line begins to form around 10:45). It was easy to get a table , we ordered with no lines, and we were able to grocery shop before it got really busy. Arrive early if you can, it's worth it!

Been hearing about an amazing Japanese market in jersey so I finally decided to come by to check it out. Upon coming I noticed it gave a Costco vibe and certain food stalls giving samples was a nice addition too. The food stands there is what caught my eye, the wait time for the food was around 15-25mins to get served the food, but the red bean paste from the Taiyaki was delicious as well as this miso ramen, very flavorful, highly recommend coming by, lots of discounts and deals having all over in here.

Out of curiosity, I tried the pork flavored Ramen. I don't often eat pork, but I had to try the experience I liked it. It was very nice but it was a little overpriced--$13 I recalled. The service was nice. It only only waited like, maybe like, 10 minutes tops. I like the Japanese atmosphere at the mall, so the experience was pretty good.

This is the biggest Japanese marketplace that I've ever been to that's the closest to where I live. Got a lot of snacks, sushi, sashimi, herbal drinks and teas, green tea, and household products. What I like about them is the boxes of individually packaged matcha green tea packs by Ito En. I love these a lot and am always restocking on those. I love how they have sales for $1.49 for Ito En bottled teas. They got oolong, jasmine, matcha, bold green tea, and hojicha. These teas have a bold aroma and you can definitely taste the tea leaf! It does not taste like chemicals or drenched in water. Other than that I come here for barley tea and kurocha, a herbal tea that's very healthy for your body. The refrigerated section also has a lot of sushi platters like yellowtail and mackerel rolls. Very tasty and fresh. They have self checkout kiosks and green tote bags. They also got thermal bags with the Mitsuwa label.

Well I was surprised when I parked in the lot. Someone left their car blocking the spot so I got out to move it and noticed what seemed like a new style of shopping cart. So was surprised and happy they finally spent some money on new carts. That feeling was lost about thirty minutes later when I went shopping. It seems they didn't purchase a lot of carts like they had before sonic wound up walking around the parking lot again to find one. Finally got over and upon closer inspection saw that the paint was chipping on it. Sob they spent some money on new carts but not good quality carts. Anyways, the shopping experience inside was somewhat good. Crowded with people but more so with their staff trying to stick in the middle of the day. With that they had boxes all over the aisles so it made getting around a little harder. On the plus side, there were a lot of things on sale.

Yall this is a hidden gem in Edgewater! It's a nice, clean Japanese food hall with so many good eats. The last time I came here, my friends and I came to the food hall first and the went to SoJo's Korean Spa which I recommend for everyone to do as the food here is fresher and cheaper than the food SoJo offers. I got the spicy Bomb, spicy chicken from Gonbei, Matcha Bubble tea from Kai Sweets, and spicy Poke from Kaiden Hannosuke. Total for everything was roughly about $33.10/10 recommend and will be back in the future!

Every time I step foot in this store, I feel like a kid at an amusement park all over again! So much to see, so much to buy, so much to eat! Mitsuwa is a Japanese market place. It's in a great location near the Hudson River Waterfront in Edgewater. This is a very popular place, so parking can be a nightmare. Try to avoid going during peak times and weekends if you can. The layout of the store is well organized. As soon as you enter, you'll see the grocery section to your right. They have almost every grocery item you can think of - fresh produce, meat, dairy, cosmetics, kitchen appliances, snacks, desserts, alcohol, frozen meals, etc... They even have readily prepared hot and cold foods. If you need something, you'll find it here. There's usually sales and events going on, so you can get a bang for your buck. Cashiers work efficiently and there's also self-checkout lanes. One of my favorite parts about Mitsuwa is the food court and vendors. It's your one stop shop for authentic Japanese fare and brands. The food stalls serve ramen, katsu, tempura, gyoza, sushi, chirashi, and more. Need something sweet to end your meal? They have dessert vendors that serve soft serve ice cream, mochi donuts, crepes, and pastries. The food court gets packed during peak times, so it won't be easy to find seating. If you can, try to get booth seating at the very back near the windows. There's a beautiful view of Upper Manhattan! Extra brownie points for having super clean and well maintained bathrooms! And... don't forget to check out their Gashapon machines! Definitely worth a visit if you're in NJ.

Tried the ready-made chicken katsu curry from Mitsuwa($9.99), and... it wasn't bad, but I think my expectations were a little too high. First, the portion: You get a generous slab of chicken and a full serving of rice, plus a few extras: a soft-boiled egg, pickled cucumber and tomato, and a tiny shrimp noodle slaw. It definitely gave classic bento box energy. Second, the sauce: The label just said chicken breast cutlet bento, so I don't know why I was expecting a curry-style sauce. The included packet was actually a sweet, thick tonkatsu-style sauce--not curry at all. It was a bit artificial tasting, and there wasn't enough of it to cover all the chicken. I ended up skipping most of it. Third, the taste: This is where it missed the mark. I wasn't expecting restaurant quality, but I've had better fast food and food court katsu (Go Go Curry, for example). My biggest gripe: the chicken was very fatty. I found myself picking through too much fat, and while the breading wasn't bland, it could've used just a bit more seasoning to really shine. That said, I tossed it in the air fryer, and it made a huge difference--the texture got super crispy and really elevated the satisfaction factor. All in all, it was filling and decent for a store-made meal. I'd get it again in a pinch, but restaurant takeout is still my first choice. That said, I was impressed by the sheer variety of hot food at Mitsuwa--fried octopus balls and a few other things definitely caught my eye. Worth a stop if you're curious and want to try something different. Rating: 3.5/5 Price: $9.99

Located inside the Mitsuwa Marketplace in Edgewater before attending the Yelp event, my partner and I managed to walk around to attend the Japanese Gourmet Fair, held until June 16, showcasing a wide variety of delightful gourmet products from Japan. Iwazumi is a Japanese company that specializes in artisan-crafted Belgian waffles, often using local ingredients and seasonal flavors. They hosted an in-store demonstration. Their waffles are known for being freshly baked and offering a variety of flavors, including those using ingredients from the Noto Peninsula, like red beans and fruits. Their moving mission: to bring smiles and cheerful conversations with their craft.

Is it true that on Sun, I can only purchase alcohol after 12 noon from the supermarket? Thanks

Yes, that is true. There are signs in the supermarket stating blue laws dictate the sale of beer, wine, and liquor is prohibited before 12:00 PM on Sundays.

Are there options in the Food Court for someone with peanut and tree allergies?

No they don't accommodate for allergies.

    Sake on sale?

Occasionally! You can check online at mitsuwa.com to see what’s on sale at your local Mitsuwa for the two week period

    Any gluten free options?

Well of course! Many protein only or rice based options.

What vegan options are available here?

Omusubi Gonbei has some vegan options but it's basically just sushi rice and seaweed. Some the confections like mochi are naturally vegan the traditional mochi not the ones with ice cream. When in doubt just ask the vendors, but there aren't too… Read more

Does this location have free motorized shopping carts for those with disabilities?

I haven't noticed but it is very accessible.

Can we order online by Instacart or other means?

Mitsuwa allows orders via Instacart. They advertise that on their website.

Do you still need to wear a mask?

It's not mandatory but people are free to do so.

    Does the place accept Amex?

Yes. The supermarket part for sure

Are there lines to get in still on Saturday?

    Yes, but it goes fast

    Does Mitsuwa sell dry ice?

No; they do not. I think due to a local restriction; correct me someone if I'm wrong.

Is food court open for regular capacity seating?

Entire area is open but all seats are socially distanced so there are less seats than before

Is there still a shuttle bus from port authority to mitsuwa?

Yes there is a bus that will pass it by. It stops outside of the complex. But you have to ask be to be stopped there. Hope it works. And it is a great place to eat and shop. Enjoy the trip.

Does the line to get into the grocery store still wrap around the building and if so how fast does it move? How is it on weekends?

It hasn't been like that for many weeks, especially on weekdays.

Is Mitsuwa New Jersey branch going out of business? Today (May 17,2021) I found many empty shelves. And people with laptops running numbers.

I hope it isn't closing. I think its is shipment delays, I work for a warehouse that supplies beauty supplies to various large vendors. Every shipment has been delayed due to Covid19 and the port. Less staff means less production, less production… Read more

Does Mitsuwa sell boba pearls? I want to make my own boba tea so I'm curious

When I was there, I saw a few boba kits and packaged tapioca pearls. Seems it's very popular, so I'm sure they fly off the shelves.

    Is curbside pickup available?

Don't think so. A couple places in the food court are on doordash or Uber eats.

What are the prices like in the supermarket? Tired of the HMart prices on the UWS. I am also curious if the ramen is better here than it is at some of the neighborhood spots? Lastly, do they offer a vegetarian ramen (Pork is ok but can’t eat beef)

Some prices are ok. But produce are expensive.

Is there any nearby outdoor seating to enjoy your takeout orders?

I was just there 2 weeks ago, didn't see outdoor seatings unfortunately. There was some indoor seats near the rice ball shop, but there might be a wait.

Strangely enough I missed trying this dish on a trip to Tokyo last year…read more I had it on the list to try but didn't get a chance given all the foodie items I had on my list. While I can't vouch for authenticity but I can vouch for a delicious bite. Sazanami Hamba-Gu is notable for their Japanese Hamburger Steak, which is a hamburger without the bun, a very popular dish in Japan. Their version was served on a platter with rice, vegetables, miso soup, and chawanmushi. The patty itself was very juicy and tender and noted on the menu as a beef and pork combination. I included some addons which made my entree far more pricer. The fried egg was a good call while the double cheese probably wasn't necessary. I got the recommended red wine demi-glacé and another with the soy onion. The red wine was better in my opinion. Also got a tonkatsu to share and while the breading was very good the pork was a little drier than other ones I've had. I'd skip the tonkatsu and stick with the Hambu-gu as that was definitely more notable. Service was friendly but the entree does take time to prepare. I'd say think twice if you are in a hurry.
