We're going to River Road mall, a very busy Sunday. Of all the choices I chose Kaisen. The choices they offered that the other customers made looked very good. I decided to try the Big Smile Roll. Shrimp Tempura, Tuna, Salmon roll. The rice roll was delicious. And helpful service is a plus.
We got the chicken tendo set which came with shrimp, broccoli and sweetpotato too. It was very tasty
Delicious. They are located in Mituwa supermarket. I ordered an unagi set dish: eel with different toppings on the rice, dilled vegetables, and miso soup. It was so good, and I look forward to returning. Unagi is one of my favorites, and the way they made it with some tuna, cucumber, and other toppings made it even nicer. The price was not bad either. I recommend this place for anyone to check out if you want nice seafood topped with a bed of rice. The service was nice and quick. You order and wait for food; there is hardly any ambiance. It's in the food court area of Mituwa, which can be very packed on the weekends. More and more people have come to this place over the years. Mituwa is a wonderful place to eat Japanese food. We go there about once a month. All the food is delicious there, and I have not had any bad meals here.

It was clear they had forgotten about it--no apology, no explanation, just bad attitude from the staff. On top of that, the food looked nothing like what was advertised. Very disappointed. Always heard a lot about Mitsuwa Marketplace as well as the food court there, so when I finally stopped by, I had to order some food from the stalls there. This place serves both tempura-dons and kaisen-dons so naturally we had to get a Kaisen Don set and a Black Tiger Shrimp Don Set. The set comes with soup and some pickles. Aesthetically speaking, the food was on point when it came out. Looks pretty much identical to the images and super appetizing. The actual taste of the food was just alright though, nothing special. The sashimi in the kaisen-don didn't have as much flavor as I expected it to honestly. I'm not sure why, I'm used to the tuna and salmon just tasting better though. The tempura don I got also specified that this more "premium" set used Black Tiger Shrimp as opposed to regular ones for Shrimp Tempura, but overall, it tasted about the same as regular shrimp to me. I added on a piece of whitefish and that was quite good, soft, buttery and flakey. It might have also been because it was near end of the day but the color of the tempura was a little on the dark side, and the flavor had a bit too much of the "old oil" flavor to it that comes about when you reuse oil/leave it out for a prolonged period of time. Overall, pretty decent, and good that the stall is open later than most.
So sad!! I just got home with my Hokkaido Chirashi bowl and the itty bit of uni that they gave me is so old and chemical tasting that my cat won't even eat it. The real crab in my bowl is watered down with fake crab. There's about 2lbs of rice and the tiniest bit of toppings. This place used to be SO good!! What happened?! Why are there angsty teens working here now instead of people who actually appreciate providing a meal for patrons. Obviously there's no ambiance because it's a food hall. But man, the food is so bad now. I spent $20 on a lunch for my trash can. (Because even my cats won't eat it!)

Only thing I wished they gave with the soba noodles were minced radish, which I thought was the basic standard when eating soba. The bowl that came with the soba noodles were un proportioned. Rice ratio was too much compared to the food it came out with. Egg was cooked perfectly and shrimp was fried and tasted good, but like I stated way too much rice and too little food. I guess with the inflation it's not a bad deal but most likely wont order this set next time I decide to eat here. Wait time was also rather long but at the same time lots of customers. Typical food court set up inside a supermarket.

I got the Jewelry Chirashi bowl and it was pretty much what I was looking for. Bits of salmon, bits of tuna, shrimp, various vegetables, pickled ginger on top of a bed of rice hit the spot. Everything tasted fresh and there was a good bit of protein to start my day. For $15, I was expecting a little more raw fish but hey, I get it, times are hard, everything is more expensive now! If you're looking for something fresh to kick start your day, I'd stop by to get a bowl!

By no means the best sushi/poke I've ever had, but it was all right. Located in this Mitsuwa food court, Kaiser has a selection of fish entrees and service is relatively quick - food was out within a few minutes. Food court also has some seating, but it is best to come early to grab a seat if you plan on eating here. My biggest issue was definitely portion - pricy for quantity of food. Presentation was fine, but I was pretty hungry after finishing. Overall, it was a decent meal, but I would probably choose a different restaurant. read more

This is my go to spot each time I'm at Mitsuwa. The prices are decent. The fish is fresh and the portions are good. The service could be a little better but it works. You order and pay. Pick up later. You don't get a beeper so you just wait. Finding a table could be a problem when its super busy. Its a food court. It's not fancy but its a quality food court with tons of yummy options. Theres free water on the other side where the tables and seats are. Another tip is dont buy drinks there. You can buy the same drinks at the supermarket for much cheaper. read more

The jewel box description got me right away. Then I saw they had scallops. So I ordered the scallop jewel box and it was good. I think there could have been a bit more flavor ( maybe that's what the soy sauce packet was for?), but overall the sushi was fresh and I enjoyed my bowl. It was also quite pretty to look at. I tried the scallop, the eel, and the shrimp and uni jewel boxes and I really don't think you can go wrong. Also, it is very decently priced. I think it's called a jewel box because it's your main ingredient sitting on a bed tuna, sweet egg, and roe on top of rice and it looks pretty like you're looking at a jewel box. read more

Skip this stall at Mitsuwa Marketplace. I paid 20 bucks for the "Uni Jewelry box", which should be a Chirashi bowl that comes with an assortment of salmon, tuna and uni. Instead we basically got a bed of rice and egg chunks, roe and maybe 5 tiny pieces fish...and a tiny piece of uni. And it looked NOTHING like the advertised photo. I liked this bowl chirashi bowl but I do wish there was more filling in it. I would have liked more pickled veggies and more fish. At the end of the bowl I did feel like there was way too much rice in comparison to all the toppings. We got the one with uni and it was good. The uni was fresh and buttery but again I wanted more uni but I can't complain cause it was still uni. I liked how it was conveniently located inside the Japanese grocery store food court! All in all, you should definitely check this place out! read more
I'd had a jewelry box from here years ago but for some reason never chose to eat here again until recently. I ordered an uni chirashi bowl and it surpassed my expectations for the price. There's not too much uni (as expected) but the ingredients in the bowl are fresh and well distributed within the rice. There is ample seasoning as well. I really enjoyed the bowl. Wish there was maybe a little more fish and less egg, but I'm also a fan of egg. Would come again and maybe try the scallop bowl next time. read more
Went for Dinner Food - 4/5. The seafood in the chirashi bowl tasted fresh and were cut into easily spoonable, bite sized pieces. I did feel there was a bit too much egg and cucumber as the delicate fish flavors were easily overpowered by them. The ohba gave it a gentle peppery flavor and the rice was seasoned well. One thing that did ruin the dining experience was the change of presentation from the old jewel box. They aren't labeled as such anymore but the chirashis have the same component as the jewel boxes except served in a bowl instead of a box. This changed the dining experience quiet a lot as it was way harder to evenly spread the soy sauce, the topping to rice ratio isn't as evenly distributed and visually it appears like the portion is smaller due to the ugly bowl. Service - 4/5. Quick and efficient service. Food came out promptly. Value - 4/5. The prices are OK with chirashi bowls running in the mid 10s. The set adds a miso soup for $1 which is fine but a bit comical in their naming choice. The extras are on the expensive side and hard to justify. Tsujita replaced the pokebowl spot here in Mitsuwa and so far so good. Thought I'd try something new today and got the Tokyo Dan Dan udon combo. The combo came with half cooked boiled egg on the side, kimchi, udon noodles and rice. Personally, I wouldnt mind not having the rice, too much carbs already but thats just me. The kimchi was nicely done and I actually enjoyed it. As for the udon, the noodles had a good chew and texture; the broth was hearty and was very satisfying to have during this February weather. The creaminess of the broth was filling and satisfying while the heat and spice from the dan dan flavor felt nice and kept me warm. I saw sesame seeds swimming in the broth and was skeptical about it at first but it actually added some earthy flavor and a bit of texture. Wasnt bad at all. Im not a big fan of the pork bun though. The dough was good but I've had better pork in terms of flavor and texture. Overall 3/5, not bad but not really the best. Worth a try still! read more
I ordered the salmon jewelry box (top right). There were an adequate amount of salmon chunks as well as salmon roe. The rice was well cooked but my favorite part was the shiso leaves. They give a floral aroma to every bite and it balances the bowl so well! I wish they still used a box for serving but maybe that's a post COVID thing. read more

This is one of my favorite stalls at the food court in Mitsuwa. Presentation is always visually appealing and quality is excellent. My uni chirashi bowl set was very generous with the sashimi. The uni was nested on a shiso leaf on the top of the bowl. Could always use more uni but then I'm greedy for uni...lol. The ordering and the seating area is a bit chaotic and the lady behind the counter can be a bit abrupt but I'd overlook that for the yumminess. read more

Mitsuwa is always has this feeling of frenetic, organized chaos that nearly overwhelms you - especially if you've spent the last two years avoiding large amounts of people. But.. here we are, and... we gotta eat. Tsujita is off to the quieter side of the food court, away from the long lines for ramen and katsu, and serves "jewel boxes" aka chirashi bowls with an assortment of upgraded choices like uni, scallop, etc. For a $20 uni bowl, I would have to say it had great value. The scoop of uni was pretty good - manage your expectations... this is not your omakase uni (in size and color). And it sat on top of nicely flavored rice with tuna, salmon, ikura, and flying fish roe. I also had a taste of the scallop bowl as well and that was similar in that it was a good scallop, as long as you manage your expectations correctly. I would totally do it again. Tsujita is in the Mitsuwa Marketplace among a few other restaurants with plentiful options to choose from, such as Kaisenden bowls, Chirachi bowls, rolls, poke bowls and soba sets, with additional toppings. Our Chirachi bowl sets (which come with miso soup) didn't disappoint at all - my super deluxe had a range with tuna, salmon, hamachi, uni, ikura (balanced saltiness), amaebi (fresh and sweet with head innards), tamago and scallop. (fresh and sweet). If you plan to come to shop at Mitsuwa, stop by here first or after and you won't regret it. read more

Don't buy Hokkaido UNI from this store. The staff ripped off its expiration date tag and the quality of uni is shown on the 1st pic. Uni is melted because it is not fresh at all and is stored for too long. You can get the same brand, same quantity (120g) , fresh uni at Mitsuwa store for only $59.95 read more

For $20 ish, I'm really happy with the quality and the quantity of the food. I added 1 sweet shrimp on top of the uni set. The uni, sweet shrimp, cooked shrimp and fish roe were very fresh. Decent quality salmon and tuna too. Rice was flavored with the right amount of vinegar. I think this set can easily cost $30 or $35 in NYC. It's served in take-out packaging only due to covid, but they did a pretty good job keeping the nice presentation. read more

I went to Tsujita for dinner and got the Scallops Bara Chirashi. It looked promising because of the wide array of seafood in it. However, I was a bit disappointed. The scallops didn't even really look like normal scallops- they were too soft and didn't have much of a taste. The tuna purée was not that tasty either. There were only a couple of bits of octopus. The egg and cucumber made the dish look nice, but didn't help the taste too much. The salmon roe was decent. The dish as a whole wasn't too bad though. For $13.50, this definitely isn't cheap for the portion size. Tsujita is conveniently located in Mitsuwa Marketplace with plenty of seating available. The service speed is fine. Overall, the food at Tsujita is okay. It's not too bad because of the types of ingredients in the dishes, but the ingredients themselves aren't of the highest quality. If you happen to be shopping at Mitsuwa and are looking for a convenient meal, you might want to try Tsujita for yourself. read more
