There are four of those here besides regular tables and sitting at the counter to choose individual plates as the train takes them around. Service was great and the lunch bento box was varied with a selection of tempura, a salad with ginger dressing and a choice of sushi rolls. And it comes with miso too. Its too good to pass up. If you want more selection Choo Choo has a large choice of special rolls and hot dishes too. My husband gets negimaki. If you have room at the end try the fried oreos for dessert. Sinful. read more

We tried today this restaurant out of curiosity, and trying to find new Japanese restaurant. The place is nice, clean and the owner was hands on to all customers assisting. But i was expecting a lot before coming here due to all the reviews i found. The food is not good like other Japanese restaurant some of the sashimi is very cold like just thawed ( we eat here around 1pm sunday) and some are not fresh anymore and where talking about sashimi this should be always fresh. The presentation is the big factor here for experience but it's better if they served quality, fresh sashimi. We order also shrimp tempura the breading is like tonkatsu breading so the tempura is not like the typical Japanese tempura it taste like chicken tenders covered with tonkatsu breading. The price for the sashimi we order with nice presentation $70, a little pricey For just few slices of sashimi. l think what we paid here is the presentation and experience to see the revolving conveyor of choo choo train. Went to Choo Choo Train sushi for lunch on a Monday. It's pretty gimmicky, but the service is good. You can sit at the bar, where you grab plates off the train track. All plates from the train are $5, but it's not like any of the plates are labeled, so you don't know what you're actually getting. Regardless, I tried a few plates from the train to go along with my bowl of udon. The rolls i tried were average, as was the udon. For the price and food quality, I might as well have gone to one of the AYCE sushi places in the area. read more

After reading the reviews, I wanted to give this place a try. It was Hubs' birthday and he wanted sushi. The restaurant is small and looks like a dollhouse. Taking up most of the place is a U-shaped counter, which has a long railroad with sushi dishes riding on a constantly-moving train. Next to the counter are "houses", which are wood panel structures that are arranged to look like small homes with roofs. A small cotton candy machine can be seen by the tables near the window as well. The restaurant is comprised of pink, white, and yellow walls and string lights are woven throughout the "houses". I thought this place was a conveyor belt sushi place like Kura and we were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't. They have sushi dishes moving along on a train for you if you decide to pick something off of there. You can also choose from the menu. The train dishes were $6 each. It's a cute concept. We got the following from the train: Tuna sushi Salmon sushi Snapper sushi Spicy tuna sushi with vegetables inside? - not sure We also got the following from the menu: Salmon Roe (Ikura) Tuna lovers- comes with 4 pieces tuna sushi, 4 pieces tuna sashimi and spicy tuna roll Salmon lovers- 4 pieces salmon sushi, 4 pieces salmon sashimi and spicy salmon roll House salad The sushi items we got from the train were ok but it was more room temperature than what we ordered from the menu. The little one doesn't appreciate sushi yet so it was nice to have options for him. 2. They had a paper table cloth and crayons for the kids. They could draw as much as they wished - which they did. 3. In the bathroom - they had plastic wrap for sanitation and warm seats. They also had little ducks in soap dispensers that got my kids attention. 4. There is, of course, a sushi train that was a lot of fun for the little ones to watch. 5. If you ever find yourself in Leoina, NJ and you have little ones, the Choo Choo Train Sushi restaurant is a great place to have a family dinner. The decor is nicely decorated and the kids will surely enjoy watching the train come by carrying sushi dishes to dessert (sit at counter). Even if your little one doesn't eat sushi, there are also chicken nuggets and french fries options from the menu. The salmon was fresh but other rolls on the train were okay. I don't expect much quality wise from sushi belt places in general but thankfully their sushi was okay. I just wish the host/waiter was friendlier and less demeaning given the restaurant caters to families but the lady that came out later clearly loved kids. The sushi options on the train is limited and they do not change out the items, so if you have a strong craving for a particular roll/sushi, best to ordering from the menu. They open at 4:30pm on Saturdays, and thankfully getting seats at the time was not an issue. The host sat us by the best spot where the kids can see the mini water fall. The bathroom was nicely decorated and they had a cute soap dispenser with a small sink for kids. They even give out a cute thermo with extra tea so we can refill ourselves. So restauranteurs or soon-to-be startups: take notes! The level of detail and well-thought out implementation of additions and services that has gone into this place- is un.friggin.believable. It is not fancy in terms of fine dining but it has the aura and functionality that the operations was set up by someone or a team that knew exactly what to do. That skillset and conceptualization is not something people will know out of nowhere. It takes years of experience and exposure at top spots to gain these types of attributes under the belt. First off- the decor was exceptional in color choices from general areas down to furniture pairings. The bathroom even had the toilet paper holder as a cute animal. Who normally would do that? As mentioned by other reviewers, the toiler has an auto machine for the toilet covers, as they have in Japan. So if the bathroom was part of their "concept" and planning - that speaks volumes. Bathrooms are generally one huge aspect of the "customer overall experience.". Bathrooms do not have to have bells and whistles but it is SUPER essential that it is clean and tidy. Usually a sterile looking restroom facility is acceptable and that comes with constant upkeep. We noticed a lot more families with younger children dining here but would be also fun for a date spot! My one critique is I wish they would have some sort of label letting you know what is in the sushi roll on the train. Nonetheless it is a great concept and we had a great time. It had crispy rice topped with everything you can imagine -- red tuna, white tuna, salmon, lobster salad, tobiko, bell pepper, avocado, and even fruit. I felt over-stimulated with all the different components in one bite...kind of like being at a busy birthday party. * So Good Roll: This is like a Spider Roll (soft shell crab roll) dressed up a little bit with spicy tuna and spicy crab added. I generally like soft shell crab rolls, so liked this one. * Choo Choo Roll: This sounded good with lobster on the inside and seared beef on the outside, but the lobster meat was claw meat (less flavorful than tail meat) and the seared beef was not seasoned (1 star off), so I was quite disappointed. There are cute trains as decorations, but I felt like they were more like distractions. For a sushi restaurant, I am really looking for good sushi rather than entertainment. We were very hungry and luckily got seated at the bar by the friendly staff. We really liked the nigiri plates and especially the eel avocado special roll on the train. Special rolls are also unique here where there's many different combinations we hadn't had before. Additionally the artistry and plating were all well done. For the Say Good Bye roll, I was not expecting it to come out Jaws themed and all with a shark display. I appreciated that the staff also warned us of the spice level and even offered a lower than normal spice level when I wasn't sure. They offered 0.5 spice level and let's just say that was enough for me! It was still the perfect balance of spice and deliciousness with also quality seared salmon on time. Proceed with caution or like the roll name says, you'll say goodbye. My husband really enjoyed the waikiki roll for its freshness. With so many rolls we know we need to come back. For sushi we ordered the LOL roll, Last Samurai roll and an eel and avocado roll. I had to remove the jalapeño sliver on the LOL roll because it made it too spicy so this wasn't my favorite. I loved the Last Samurai roll because the seared white tuna on top gave it a bit of a grilled flavor. We only picked up one plate off the train. We got 4 pieces of a specialty roll. Instead of sushi on a conveyor belt, there is a Train track with a train that brings sushi around the sushi counter. Sushi from the train was 5$ a plate which is a little pricey - so we opted to order special rolls instead. Their complimentary tea was fabulous - it was a brown rice tea iirc. The special rolls we ordered were all really tasty. Our favorites were: OOO LALA ROLL - shrimp, lobbster salad, avocado, crab with eel sauce. Super tasty! WHATEVER ROLL - a surprise roll that the chef's make to order - for us it was a deep fried sushi roll with a mixture of textures and sauces. Definitely a non-traditional take, and slightly heavier than normal sushi but delicious. The decor around the restaurant and even in the bathrooms was so cute and fun. Service was also outstanding. A great fun restaurant to visit with family or friends. I would advise staying away from the train counter and sitting in the cute booths/tables to order more value menu items. The counter seats are served by train during dinner, but during lunch they bring the dishes to counter/table. Their menu is full of interesting stuff. Sushi names are really modern/funny like avenger's, dragon ball, whatever! (Chef's special). Fyi, they are all really good, especially whatever. It comes wrapped in aluminum foil, with fire burning around it. Once you open the wrap, its sushi floating on a mix of sauce like spicy mayo, sweet and chili. The fries and nuggets are okay. Nuggets are cooked to much, so it crispier. Skewers are decent. The rice bowl with egg was super tasty. We liked it a lot. At the end we had a the fried ice cream, it was okay for me. From start to end we had a an exceptional service. Everyone was attentive, funny, thoughtful and no one spending time on their phone. They ran the train around so the kids in the restaurant can have fun, handing them candies and toys with the train. We got some great suggestion from them on what to order. I also tried the (very large) stir fried seafood udon which was decent though a little bit too heavy on the sauce. Some of the appetizers on the Choo Choo train itself (that runs on the sushi bar area) were okay such as the fried shrimp which was just average, but others like the tuna were better. One really nice feature about this place is also the fun cotton candy machine. For a reasonable price you get an immense (and pretty high quality) cotton candy ball that is bigger than your kid's head. That alone was worth the trip with the little ones here. Again the vibe of the place is bright and fun and very unique. There aren't a ton of seats here so it can get crowded on the weekends. While it's perfectly fine for couples as well generally speaking I would recommend this as a more kid-friendly/kid-oriented type of place to really get the most of the atmosphere. read more

Cool and very unique concept. This restaurant is like revolving sushi bar with train conveyor belt. It's family-friendly spot, especially if you have children.
