Kids chop sticks
Irina G.

Very cute place with an eye for details. Its great for kids. Highlights: 1. they had fries and chicken fingers on the menu which my kids loved. The little one doesn't appreciate sushi yet so it was nice to have options for him. 2. They had a paper table cloth and crayons for the kids. They could draw as much as they wished - which they did. 3. In the bathroom - they had plastic wrap for sanitation and warm seats. They also had little ducks in soap dispensers that got my kids attention. 4. There is, of course, a sushi train that was a lot of fun for the little ones to watch. 5. There is cotton candy with many flavors. 6. There is a cute sculpture park outside for a post or pre meal strole. I would mention that while the decor, attention to detail and kid friendly experience were spot on, the food itself was ok. I would still go back and recommend the place for the experience of it.

What a lovely sushi restaurant this is! Colorful and the owner and staff were amazingly kind and friendly. The sushi was delicious and fresh. The choo choo going around was a hoot. This was a great find. Can't wait to go back! My rolls. The Kiss Me. The MF Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll. The Kiss Me - smoked salmon, shrimp, avocado, and crunch wrap wrapped in soy paper with wasabi, mayo, and grilled salmon on top. This was amazing so delicious so fresh so different. MF roll - shrimp, tempura, avocado topped with half lobster salad, half spicy salmon, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. Also, very fresh very delicious very different. Spicy tuna roll was delicious.

Fun atmosphere! Charming, child-friendly casual sushi restaurant. Attentive staff. I enjoyed the "shrimp guacamole" appetizer... extensive menu- will stop back to try more items...

If you ever find yourself in Leoina, NJ and you have little ones, the Choo Choo Train Sushi restaurant is a great place to have a family dinner. The decor is nicely decorated and the kids will surely enjoy watching the train come by carrying sushi dishes to dessert (sit at counter). Even if your little one doesn't eat sushi, there are also chicken nuggets and french fries options from the menu. The salmon was fresh but other rolls on the train were okay. I don't expect much quality wise from sushi belt places in general but thankfully their sushi was okay. I just wish the host/waiter was friendlier and less demeaning given the restaurant caters to families but the lady that came out later clearly loved kids. The sushi options on the train is limited and they do not change out the items, so if you have a strong craving for a particular roll/sushi, best to ordering from the menu. They open at 4:30pm on Saturdays, and thankfully getting seats at the time was not an issue. The host sat us by the best spot where the kids can see the mini water fall. The bathroom was nicely decorated and they had a cute soap dispenser with a small sink for kids. They even give out a cute thermo with extra tea so we can refill ourselves. We were in and out within the hour so working perfectly for families with kids.

Food was decent :) $5 a dish for the conveyor belt sushi. My favorites were the sushi rolls. Bacon wrapped scallops were great!

This might be the most fun and aesthetic conveyor belt sushi and sushi-adjacent restaurant experience I've had. They've gone all out with the thematic decor, which will charm adults and children alike, but is an especially memorable experience for the little ones. Cool place for a date too. We went around Halloween time and the restaurant was tricked out with seasonal decorations. The design details are intricate - even the soap dispensers in the bathroom are so cute. We sat at the counter and my child was delighted watching the train go around and checking out the decorations around it. The small plates on the train are $4.99 each and are fun to try. In addition to the sushi and special rolls, the menu has yakitori, noodles, rice bowls, teriyaki, katsu, and even a couple of Korean dishes that we went for: K-style beef short ribs and bulgogi. Don't skip the fashionable assortment of desserts which includes K-style shaved ice and rainbow fried ice cream! The highlight is the cotton candy machine - you can pick a flavor/color and they'll spin it fresh for you. The food is pretty good and I'd rate it a 4, but bumping to 5 for the entertaining experience, artful presentation, outstanding service, and overall awesomeness. We can't wait to return!

The food was delicious. The service was friendly and inviting. We sat at the counter so we could take advantage of the sushi train!

Owners Min & Justin are AMAZING! Attentive, careful to detail - watchful that every guest is cared for. Santos makes amazing Cotton Candy!

This was our 1st time at Choo Choo and we'll be back! Very attentive service, fresh, beautifully presented food, very unique theme and cool youthful atmosphere. Come ready for great sushi.... and Cotton Candy, Fried Oreos and Mochi Min & Justin:THANK YOU.... everything was fabulous!

It is a cute little spot with their train of sushi that rolls pass the bar. The workers and servers are always energetic and happy. Definitely bring your kids for the experience! I love the little details they put into the restaurant. My only complain was the semi sticky bar. Wasn't the great experience on that end. As for the selections of the sushi on the train it wasn't anything that really caught my eye. I tried several of their dishes off the train and it was good just nothing to write home about. We decided to order some on the menu instead. Definitely different level of sushi. The freshness of the scallops, the Uni was amazing! The simplicity of it all just made a difference. If you're not feeling too hungry. I would recommend this place. It's definitely a spot where you can hangout and have some small bites and it'll keep the kids entertain! Did I also mentioned they give cotton candy at the end!?

This place figured it OUT. No need to write any good reviews here, all the other reviewers states the obvious with 5 stars and never ending positive highlights. This review is assessing how a true successful restaurant should run. Aside from the frills of the decor, train-conveyer belt sushi, extraordinary wait service and exemplary fresh dishes - this location has found the key formula. So restauranteurs or soon-to-be startups: take notes! The level of detail and well-thought out implementation of additions and services that has gone into this place- is un.friggin.believable. It is not fancy in terms of fine dining but it has the aura and functionality that the operations was set up by someone or a team that knew exactly what to do. That skillset and conceptualization is not something people will know out of nowhere. It takes years of experience and exposure at top spots to gain these types of attributes under the belt. First off- the decor was exceptional in color choices from general areas down to furniture pairings. The bathroom even had the toilet paper holder as a cute animal. Who normally would do that? As mentioned by other reviewers, the toiler has an auto machine for the toilet covers, as they have in Japan. So if the bathroom was part of their "concept" and planning - that speaks volumes. Bathrooms are generally one huge aspect of the "customer overall experience.". Bathrooms do not have to have bells and whistles but it is SUPER essential that it is clean and tidy. Usually a sterile looking restroom facility is acceptable and that comes with constant upkeep. (explains why fine dining places would have a dedicated attendee sitting inside the bathroom accepting tips.). This place just does its clean magic on their own! Meanwhile, this place receives raving feedback but wanted to highlight its significance in their method to operating an exceptional food service business. Bravo!!!

Tempura Udon

What a fun experience - from the outside to inside, this restaurant is committed to the train theme and the decorations inside are so fun and fanciful! We noticed a lot more families with younger children dining here but would be also fun for a date spot! The plates on the train are $4.95 each but you can order other menu items a la carte - we got the yellowtail with scallion which was very fresh and the spicy tuna roll which was indeed very spicy! We also ordered a tempura udon to finish our meal. While they don't have many sashimi options, the sushi is quite fresh and made to order so this is a great deal. Plus, you get your own thermos of hot tea so no worries about refills! Another add on, they have a cotton candy machine for kids to snack on afterwards. The staff was very friendly and enthusiastic, making our dining experience even more memorable.

A really cute, local spot in Leonia. The inside is really cute and super kid friendly. The first time my nieces said that they had fun at dinner. The place is fun and bright. The train with the sushi is a good touch, The sushi was really good and had a good variety. The highlight was the cotton candy for sure. It's an interactive and great for kids.

Dinner is clearly their featured meal and offers some interesting options that I haven't seen elsewhere. The included beverages of hot tea and water were fine, the staff is very good, it's a comfortable place to eat and dine. Just make sure whoever in your party likes watching the food come by most is sitting facing in the direction the dishes are flowing by, otherwise you'll get a crick in your neck turning your head every time. Parking can be validated if you park in the deck above Hudson Lights, but not for street parking. Unless you eat a lot, I think it's a bit overpriced, but the vibe is nice (good for a date!) and most people don't show up in jeans and a t-shirt so it does feel a little special.

The interior was very modern, unlike any sushi place hahaha and we were seated right by the belt. $40 unlimited sushi & roll with all the appetizers on the menu - except the sashimi. The appetizers were good (reminded me of Arigato in Edgewater), Takoyaki, human, edamame, udon, miso soup, you name it !!! Picking out the roll dishes from the belt is always fun, and I probably devoured 5 dishes of Philadelphia rolls !!!! I am not a big fan of spicy tuna or spicy shrimp rolls, so I focused on the seaweed salad, Chef's special and the Philadelphia rolls, As always, I went back to the appetizer menus !!!! Since it's BYOB, the appetizer ones were great !!! With the $40 (All day Friday, Saturday & Sunday) with 90 min limit, the quality was satisfying !!!! (Since I have been hugely hugely disappointed with the Kura Resolving Sushi by the GW Bridge. Will definitely come back and I do hope the quality remains consistent.

Upon entering, you've entered a high speed Japanese train with lights and signage surrounding you. The little train cars that bring your food are super fun, and the conveyor belt is actually filled with food. The little robots that bring you appetizers are a fun touch too! There's a great mix of both sushi and cooked food here, and each dish has such amazing flavor (which is surprising for an AYCE establishment.) I was fully expecting something to taste off or not hit the mark, but that never came. While the sushi rolls are fun, the cooked food is definitely the star. The fried rice was flavorful, meats had great sear to them and the sauces were tasty. I've never been to an all you can eat that had agedashi tofu, so it was a surprise to me seeing this on the menu! Whether you're into raw sushi or cooked meals, there's food for everyone. I fully understand why wait times are so long - we waited for 1.5 hours for an early weekend dinner. Definitely need to visit this place at least once, maybe twice, or just all the time, because the bang for your buck here is unreal!
