I've been waiting for the sakura treats for the past few weeks. They have finally gotten in their shipments and I definitely splurged! While we shopped, we tried a couple of their nama chocolates, which is always a treat. I bought their sakura baton cookies, which are amazing! They are perfect for the warmer weather that is approaching. The sakura fromage nama is soooo good! Keep it refrigerated but take out a few pieces and let them come to almost room temperature before eating. I love the velvety texture. The sakua white and sakuraberry discs are soooo good! These might be my favorite after the baton cookies. Actually, I don't even think I can pick a favorite. They're all that good. I also picked up some of my regular go-tos, including their cognac raisin and rum raisin bars, their macadamia gianduja balls, and both the hazelnut and the coconut baton cookies. Unfortunately, they were out of potechi crunch but I plan to return. read more

There were so many beautiful and unique chocolate concoctions from talented chocolatiers. I visited today ,originally for a special and I couldn't resist all the yummy chocolate. I had to purchase. The store is located inside Mitsuwa Marketplace. There are lots of foods sold in this market, that you can't resist. I was greeted by a wonderful gentleman named Will. He explained thoroughly all the chocolate's to me , I even got samples. I was sold on their white chocolate, it was soft, smooth and sooo good. I also got a discount on the chocolate's I purchased (which I appreciated so much) Thank you Will. This is my second time here for the Yelp elite event and of course I enjoyed it because we buy chocolate from here often. Everything here is top quality, and reasonably priced. The quality in my opinion rivals any high end chocolatier in the local malls and stores. The chocolate is smooth and not cloyingly sweet which I often find to be the case. Royce is located inside the Mitsuwa Marketplace - when you walk in, make a left toward Kai Sweets and then a right. The space isn't large, but the set up is clean and organized. The sales representative was very nice, and also very knowledgeable. I learned about Royce a while back when one of my good friends gifted me the chocolate covered potato chips - the sales representative said that they were one of their most popular items. They are yummy! Some of their chocolates are seasonal and only available once a year. That being said, I bought one of them - the "Kokutoh Bar Chocolate", which has purple yam and a cookie crunch. Best chocolate experience I've ever had, and that's saying a lot because I've eaten a ton of chocolate. This is a must-stop destination inside the shopping center. The staff who gave me the tour were super nice, casual, and welcoming. I never felt like I had to pretend to know what I was talking about. They gave an excellent tour of the space, shared the history behind the chocolates, and described the flavors vividly. Of course I got samples, and their descriptions were spot on. With all things "Halloween", a quick trip over the bridge to Royce for some artisan chocolates and cookies was the right move. Located inside the Mitsuwa matketplace,, this tiny shop was housing big new flavors for the upcoming fall and winter seasons. The host, friendly and knowledgeable, treated us to an improptu tasting of the new flawors. The white chocolate peach w/peach liquor, Hakutou, was a refreshing bite I could not get enough of. The matcha and hojicha chocolate was silky and smooth with a eathy edge that complimented the other flavors. A new lemon white chocolate flavored potato chip was a tangy surprise and the matcha hazelnut baton cookie was decadent wiithout being too heavy on the pallet. The Yelp swag bag was another " treat" crammed wih merch and an additional assortment of chocolate samples from Royce including a discount on a future in-store purchase. I was so excited to see Royce in the Mitsubishi Marketplace. I had a bad experience once before due to my own lack of knowledge about the chocolate. I didn't let that happen this time. I purchased the Nama Chocolate in Stawberry Milk and Au Lait. I did sample the Au Lait in store and it was so rich and creamy. I was able to successfully get them back home to Charlotte. My niece loved them. We shared each box. Savoring each little square. I liked both flavors. The Au Lait has a cocoa dust on them and leave a residue on your fingers. The Strawberry Milk is a good white chocolate taste mixed with the fruity strawberry notes. So yummy. These chocolates make a great gift. I need to start saving now for the next time I visit. The little boutique in the mitsuwa supermarket is no-nonsense! The store is closed off except for the front section guarded by 3 employees! They give you a catalog to choose what you want. Once you pay, they go to the back to retrieve your treat. The chocolates are refrigerated and premium wrapped in those cooler aluminum packaging. You are supposed to refrigerate these until you eat them. The chocolates are arguably the best I've had from anywhere (and I've had chocolates in Belgium!) I had such a charming experience visiting ROYCE' Edgewater. This chocolate spot is located inside the Mitsuwa grocery store. Suzanne did such a fantastic job explaining the history of ROYCE' chocolate which originates in Hokkaido, Japan. ROYCE' is known for their Nama chocolates that are made with fresh cream and liquor. There are more than 100 nama flavors! I tried the matcha and champagne Pierre mignon nama chocolates. The texture of the nama chocolates are unreal. They are rich in taste and melt in your mouth! I also fell in love with the Prafeuille Chocolat in orange. This milk chocolate and orange combination is amazing. It's so fresh that you can taste the orange peels. ROYCE' has a large selection of chocolate bars. I loved the rum raisin with pieces of raisin and white chocolate. It's velvety texture makes for the perfect dessert. Additional items that caught my eye include the pistachio filled chocolate bears and the chocolate dipped potato chips. ROYCE' sells some great chocolate boxes with a variety of products. Went to this place for a Yelp event and it was fantastic. Upon entering the store you can tell that everything is clean and well maintained with a sophisticated ambiance. The manager Suzanne was very charismatic and gregarious. She explained the history of ROYCE extremely well and gave us her personal favorites and recommendations. The taste testing was also wonderful. The Nama chocolate "Champagne Pierre Mignon" was our group's favorite. The chocolate was very smooth and delicious I don't think I would ever taste other chocolates the same way again. She also gave us gift bags after the event filled with more sample, stickers, coupon, etc. We purchased the products she recommended-- like potato chip chocolate original and matcha and pistachio. We are BLESSED to have a Royce chocolate in the middle of Edgewater. This is one of the finest chocolatiers in the area. I never knew this company existed until it came to Mitsuwa, and I am so grateful to be introduced to their superior chocolates. All I can say is...Godiva who? Who knew Japan had such a luxe chocolate company? Every time I go, the employees are extremely knowledgeable and helpful about their products. They are happy to talk about the differences in tastes, textures, level of cocoa, etc. Yes, these chocolates are on the pricey side, but not only are you paying for the product, you are paying for the experience as well. Over the years, I've tried a few of Royce's chocolates. They have a consistent collection but also celebrate the seasons with unique offerings. Standouts for me are the chocolate covered potato chips (even though there isn't that many in the pack), the prafuielle (filled chocolate squares, my favorite is the matcha), and their Nama Chocolate. Their Nama Chocolate is unlike any chocolate I've had before. It's like if fudge, mousse, and a truffle had a baby. It's soft, chocolatey, and absolutely melts in your mouth. It's not something you should rush to eat, or just shove in your mouth, but rather savor. Some of the Nama Chocolate flavors are infused with alcohol - those are my very favorite! Overall, Royce is such a cool and unique experience, and the chocolate is absolutely phenomenal. If you're in Mitsuwa, you have to come and try it at least once. read more

First off, just an FYI, the Royce store is inside Mitsuwa, which means even if you don't want to do any kind of grocery shopping, you have to line up to get inside. We waited about 20-30 minutes on the line outside to get in and Royce was my first stop once I got inside. I had called the day before to inquire about their Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day line, since I was specifically looking for some gifts. The very helpful staff member told me that they only had one more box of what I wanted, but he was sure it would still be there the next morning. He was right! So due to Covid, they're not letting anyone inside the store. All purchases are done via a tiny slot through plexiglass. They have a catalogue for you to look over and you just tell the staff member what you want. It was very quick and very easy. The staff member was friendly and helpful. I just wish Royce wasn't so expensive here in the US! read more

I came here with my brother to look for a Easter present for my customer. The staff members here were friendly but they could not assist me since I did not know what I was looking for. I was waiting for one of my daughter's to send me a pic of what to get for my customer. We ended up getting the Royce chocolate box in front of the bunny. We also got the Au Lait and something else that one of the employee's had recommended in order for us to get a free marshmallow chocolate. The marshmallow chocolate was free when we spent more than a certain amount. Now I know why it was free; it was because it does not sell well. This was a mushy kind of chocolate that had a horrible taste to it. I do not think they should be recommending that as a free item to any customers. It left a bad after taste as well and made us kind of sick. For the rest of the chocolate I am not sure how they taste because it was a gift to my customer. Saw this chocolate shop in Mitsuwa and decided to give it a try. The chocolate is definitely pricey but worth giving it a try. I bought the Mild cacao and champagne. So far I have only tried the mild cacao and it is super delicious. Melts as soon as you take a bite, and the cacao powder balances the flavor of the milk chocolate. I usually get a pack of Nama chocolates. For $25 per box, these can be a perfect gift to anyone. There is a variety of flavors including maccha, au lait, champagne, white, cacao, bitter, etc. Along with the chocolate, the box contains a plastic stick that you can use to pick up the chocolates. If requested, you can also get these chocolates gift wrapped and make it look even more luxurious and pretty. read more

I just died and went to Japanese chocolate heaven!! Yep! I'm writing this review from up above. Okay jokes aside, I am a ROYCE' chocolate lover for life!! Their Nama chocolates are so soft and creamy you must savor each piece ever so sloooooowly. And yes they give samples. Now, those who know me, know that I don't have a sweet tooth. I have sweet TEETH!! So I went here with a game plan. I visited their site prior with a few things in mind I was going to give as gifts and possibly one for myself. (Valentine's splurging) Definitely wanted to leave with a Nama, and maybe cookies or wafers as gifts) While in the store I sampled the Nama "Maccha" (green tea) and the Nama "Bitter" (dark chocolate with Hennessy V.S.O.P) The maccha was just as delicious as I expected it to be. Creamy green tea flavor that was more sweet than bitter. And for the Bitter, don't dismiss this by the word "bitter" for the Nama Bitter. In this case it's used to give the distinction that it's a dark chocolate. This one was another winner. AAAH!!! What to do!! I was set on leaving with the Maccha and Gianduja and now I had to make decisions. I ended up leaving with a Nama Gianduja (hazelnut and almond) as a gift and the Bitter for myself. Another item I purchased as a gift were the Baton Cookies (coconut). At the time of my visit (yesterday 2/13), they only had the strawberry wafers in the store and I had my eye on either purchasing the Tiramisu Cream, Hazel or Maccha wafers. Maybe it was a good thing they didn't have them or else I would've spent even more!! In total all three came to a bit under $60 which I know is A LOT to spend on 3 items of chocolate that will most likely be devoured in a couple of days.... But seriously...SERIOUSLY! When something is worth it, it's worth the splurge. And ROYCE' chocolates are SERIOUSLY WORTH IT! They beautifully wrap Nama chocolates with an ice pack to keep it cool while in travel (must put in fridge as soon as you can) and in their signature red bags with gold trimmings. This is the Royce location inside Mitsuwa Marketplace in Jersey. I've also been to the location across from Bryant Park and between the 2, I must say Royce-Mitsuwa has hands down, the BEST staff! They have the usual selection of chocolate goods. I really like their Nama Chocolate varieties. Their chocolate covered potato chips never really appealed to me. I've pretty much tried all the Nama Chocolates, and my favorite one is the Nama Chocolate "Au Lait" which is the dark chocolate infused with Hennessy! I'm not too fond of the Nama Chocolate White or Green Tea; because I think they're both very, very sweet. With the exception of their Nama Chocolate "Ghana Bitter" and Nama Chocolate "Mild Cacao", all their other flavors have liquor in it (Though it's very little: 0.01%) A close friend of mine, she's extremely sensitive to alcohol; like she can get drunk just by being near her friends who are drinking..and inhaling their breaths..LOL Anyways, it's cool that Royce now has 2 flavors that are liquor-free! read more

It only made sense to have a ROYCE' boutique here in Mitsuwa. The best chocolate in Japan definitely needs to be united with mochi, matcha drinks, sake and sashimi. The shop recently opened on February 6th, 2015. I came on opening day and they had a few limited edition products for Valentine's Day. The place was well stocked, all the nama chocolates were available, prices are the same as they are in NY but I think tax is lower here. There were atleast 4 staff members assisting me, I was surprised to see so many people but I guess it's opening day, it's better to be overstaffed than understaffed. I ended up getting their Gianduja nama chocolate, their kir royal was really good too but I preferred the aftertaste of gianduja. At the moment they're doing Valentines' day themed packaging, so everything is either red or pink. NJ is quite lucky now that ROYCE' has joined the Mitsuwa family. First time trying Royce, I went straight for the Maccha flavor because I knew I had something to compare it to. For about 20 bucks you get a box of chocolate with 20 pieces inside, good enough for 4 servings. Presentation wise, it is a delight. When bought they wrap it up in a foil bag with an ice pack inside to keep the chocolate cool. The box is wrapped three times with different plastics (they really want this thing air tight) and comes with a mini sword to poke and eat the chocolate with. Compared to other green tea flavored chocolate this stuff is like water. It's so smooth and melts so well it's practically a liquid. Really amazing texture, the best I've had no doubt (green tea flavor). The price, eh. 20 bucks is a full meal, I actually got a hamburger friends and a small pasta for lunch and it was less than that. But honestly is you've never tried it, spend the cash just so you know. The flavor, 5/5 This stuff is great as a casual gift when visiting your parents or any adult.
