This review is just based upon receiving Krause's chocolate as a gift. I was really impressed with the fresh and delicious flavor of the chocolates. According to the website, Krause's has been around since 1929. They have two locations in Fairview and Paterson, New Jersey. Looking forward to actually visiting Krause's Homemade Candy Shop. read more

My husband buys me chocolate here every year for the past 14 years . This year however, mostly all the strawberries were bad . I wrote a complaint because these are the best chocolate strawberries I've ever had and I've never ever had an issue . The manager was very nice , sent me an email promptly and replaced the chocolates . I think that one box happened to be a fluke because the box my husband picked up were all top quality again. I'm so glad they helped solve the issue and will be coming back ! read more

My wife likes the chocolate. Today we were in a line outside waiting to get in. I was holding the door open. A lady behind the counter yells please close the door it's cold in here, thank you". So if you don't mind being yelled at and embarrassed in front of 20 or 30 people all while standing in the cold outside this is your place enjoy. read more

The best way to satisfy our chocolate crave is to stop at Krause's every time we are in town visiting. We must say that nothing has changed since the 80's, the high quality of their chocolate still remains! We devoured a box full of our favorite "chocolate covered strawberries" and brought some chocolate break up chunks for the plane ride back to Las Vegas! read more

Website is here: http://www.krausescandies.com/ Surprised I never wrote a view for this place. A few people I know like their chocolate strawberries and their nonpareils. I personally was a big fan of their turtles/chocolate covered marshmallows. Their pretzels were fine. Nice local chocolate store. A bit pricey. 4.1 read more

I made the mistake of thinking Hanna Krause in Paramus was the same as this place. It was many moons ago but the chocolate is completely different. Paramus store chocolate sucks! Plus the prices are outrageous. I paid 76$ for 12 chocolate covered strawberries. They are very slick. They charge by the ounce so what they do is they make the chocolate on the strawberries SUPER thick. This is to rob you blind and it totally make the strawberries undesirable. Now Krause's in Paterson has very fair prices and much higher quality chocolate. 2 dozen chocolate covered strawberries was 59$. I don't get them but the customer in front of me did. I have purchased them in the past and they were perfect. The staff is much friendlier at this location as well. The only reason I went to the Paramus store was that there was a ton of traffic and I was closer to the Paramus store. HUGE MISTAKE! read more

Top quality service and expertise. Place is tiny but has a huge selection of chocolate, nuts, gummies and gift boxes. We get the chocolate covered citrus peels with dark chocolate. Great Halloween candy as well. Not everything has prices on it so I'd recommend that. Credit card ok Parking lot Will return read more

A "must go to place" for any candy lover visiting the area. Every variety, especially chocolates and nuts. Gifts available. Reasonable prices. Small, clean, and friendly service. Easy access in/out form Route 20. read more

Old World Charm Nice Assortment Of Fine Candy Customer Service Needs Improvement Back when Hannah was around this place was run with precision, from front to back of the house everything was top notch. Over the past ten years or so Krause's has seen a bit of decline overall with the counter people leading the way. The candy is still quite good mind you, but I have had occasions when the covered graham cracker / pretzel inside was a bit stale, or the fruit was over ripened. At the premium prices you pay here, unacceptable and not a isolated event. That said, the dark chocolate bark with walnuts is superb as are many of the chocolate dipped fruits and nuts that may be available. The key is to get them nice and fresh, so now I ask "these made fresh today?" With three locations in North Jersey Paterson Rt 20 North, Fairview - Fairview Avenue and Paramus Rt 17 South next to the Garden State Plaza Mall Krause's is no secret around here. So Holidays see huge crowds lining up for seasonally themed treats. Despite some of the shortcomings of the post Hannah Krause era, this place is still a delight. If I had to describe to you what heaven smelled like, I think I would point you to this place. I've probably passed by this place hundreds of times in my life but finally decided to go in. So glad I did! They have any and every variety of chocolate that you would ever want and even those that you didn't know you wanted. The chocolate-covered strawberries are out of the world! The chocolate is thick and creamy while the strawberries are fresh and juicy. I'm not sure where they get these strawberries, especially during off-season, but they're amazing! These are priced by the pound and while they're a bit pricey (I think it's $22/lb), it's totally worth every penny. I bought 4 strawberries to try and it came out to $10 so I guess that was about half a pound. There's also a huge selection of sugar-free chocolates and candies as well as gift sets for various occasions. They have balloons and cards so it's a one-stop shop if you're trying to get a gift for a chocolate lover. read more

I've been coming here for years to get chocolate covered strawberries for my ex-girl and kid. The always seem to enjoy them.

Went for chocolate covered strawberries the day before Mother's Day. Asked for two half dozen boxes and have 1 of them wrapped. The cross between Dora the explorer and a hippopotamus said 'they' didn't have time. Meanwhile customers before and after me were getting theirs wrapped by the other workers. I asked repeatedly when seeing this I wanted one of them wrapped. The blob said it was too late, she already put it in a fancy box. In the future kindly shove your decorative boxes up your buffalo ass, I will never go to your POS establishment again. read more

REAL chocolate. Everything is amazing here!! None of the wafer gross "chocolate" other local places attempt to sell. I am obsessed with their chocolate covered strawberries. Addicting!! They dip the whole strawberry, without the stem in thick chocolate. Absolutely perfect! read more

Krause's Homemade Candy - Chocolate covered strawberries!! So fresh, plump, juicy & delicious. I ate three before I took this picture!!! - Candy Stores Near Me - Paterson, New Jersey

Best chocolate in the area. Been coming here since I was a kid, over 30 years and I don't spend money on any other chocolate place in the state. Couple of reviews on here I would love to comment on, but they don't let you do that. I wouldn't believe a word of the negativity or haters. Outside of the price, but you get what you pay for. And this place provides, hands down. Chocolate peanut butter is amazing, best covered coconut, awesome pretzels. The list is endless. Try it and see for yourself. read more

Place is over priced and very small cramped store! I recently went there after a trip to lowes next door to see what all the hype was about i was not impressed as i thought they were this big chocolate company making special blends of chocolate only to find the guy in the back throwing out cardboard boxes of YUP chocolate wafers from a company called dutch valley WOW i ordered a box 50 lbs online for $35 say WHAAAATTTT are they kidding me charging $22 for a pound of chocolate....INSANE!!! I made my own choc covered strawberries for a party and said i bought it at krause's my family was ranting and raving their chocolate was the best ever! My cuz and I were LOAF because we fooled our friends and family JUST LIKE YOU DO!! SCAMMERS BEWARE! read more

I am addicted to this chocolate since I was little. Everything is delicious, but I specially love the chocolate dipped strawberries. They are so fresh.....and the strawberries huge! The chocolates do not leave lard on the roof of my mouth like most commercial chocolates do. The bark is incredible! And so are the creams, my favorite is Maple. The marshmallow squares are addictive. My kids love the crackers, that come in dark and regular. When get a box for my mother in law, she will guard it in her safety box, just so no one will get near them. She says, she takes one out after lunch and just enjoys every little bite slowly. I have heard of clients that are so hooked on this chocolate, that they will run 5 k. to get there eat a small box and run back not to feel guilty.... It must be that good to have someone do that every week. So if you like chocolate this is the bet place. Bon a petit ! read more

Anything your chocolate heart desires & FRESH, JUICY chocolate covered strawberries! A Chocolate Lovers Dream!

Krause's Homemade Candy has been a staple in our home as far back as I can remember. The chocolate is truly exceptional, second to none. Both the Paterson and Fairview locations are family owned and operated. Every time I patronize the stores, the owners (father & daughter) are working along side their professional, friendly staff overseeing all operations and manufacturing, and ensuring the highest level of quality and customer service. I do not buy chocolate or candies from any other confectionery. Amazing variety to choose from, lots of prepackaged choices, novelty specialty seasonal gift plates, trays, etc., to choose from and plenty of parking. If you have not made a visit yet, I suggest you do. read more

This place has fresh chocolate covered strawberries every day and they are the BEST! I'm picky about chocolate covered strawberries so I know what I'm talking about. It's not just the Choc strawberries though. They have the best chocolate around. Any kind of chocolate you want, they have. Cordials, truffle, bar etc. their pecan turtles are to die for. They also have a really good diabetic chocolate selection. My grandmother has Diabetes So I buy them For her occasionally and she loves them. I've never tried them but I know they must be good because my grandmother usually detests diabetic/sugar free food. If your a chocolate lover then making a trip to Paterson to visit krause is a must. Dont worry about having to drive in the "hood". This is on a highway. You can get there without even having to drive through town. read more

Yum! I really love their dark chocolate almond bark. Coconut puffs are great too. My wife says the dark chocolate is too sweet for fans of very dark chocolate. Since we both prefer dark chocolate, we'd rather their selection of (delicious) chocolate skewed more toward dark, rather than milk. Right now looks like it's about 60/40 in favor of milk. The staff was very friendly. read more
