Finally went to this store after driving past it hundreds of times and I was very impressed. The have a great selection of homemade candy and plants. Homemade candies are made in a much more sustainable way than the major brands so may be a little bit more money but will will weigh less on your conscience if you got one. They aren't a nursery, but have a big, well rounded selection of flowers, shrubs and trees. read more

I just picked up 8 chocolate covered strawberries I ordered yesterday from Laurie's Candies, Wayne. The woman who checked me out said $25 and change. REALLY? She said, "well, they're heavy". Annoyed, but took them home anyway as I need for a birthday celebration, thinking, we'll, at least they will be those big beautiful giant ones. WRONG. So, I called store thinking there was a mistake. But the manager told me it was correct as they charge $28.99 a lb. Thats right, for strawberries. I had just come from Market Basket in Franklin Lakes where the filet mignon was less expensive and they had hand dipped strawberries, to boot, for $8.99 for 8 of the the same size! I started coming here because they were advertising their dark chocolate being dairy free. My daughter is very allergic to milk and every time she had it would have a problem so last time I went in I asked if they were sure and the lady held the ingredient list in her hand and said she was sure I also called on another occasion and same thing. Today when coming in I asked again if it was dairy free and they told me it never was they just thought it was. That's a very serious thing to advertise without fully knowing. And if they actually took the second to read the ingredients they would've saw it wasn't dairy free. Very very dangerous. read more

I went for the first time yesterday and wasn't impressed. The marzipan was dried out and tasted old. The truffles were hard and had way to much hard shell and no inside. Chocolate covered potato chips used Pringles and there was to much chocolate on them. The Carmel chocolates were good though. Prices were to high for below average quality. She will make anything you need if you give her a little bit of notice. Was inside Lauries waiting for Service to buy chocolates when suddenly two women pushed me out of the way to be served first and the Counter Folks who were serving pretended i did not exist and said nothing to the rude and entitled clowns. This Me first, you zero attitude is what you are going to get if you stop here. Apparently, Lauries is so flushed with sucess they do not care if they notice you or not so save yourself some grief and go where they will respect you and treat you like you exist. read more

It was 1989 and I moved to Wayne from the Philippines. I went to Laurie's and my mother bought me a Gund teddy bear. Today, when I smell it really hard, it still smells like chocolate, despite the many turns in the washing machine. With bleach. That's why I still hold on to that little bear. Every Easter I get a basket full of Laurie's peanut butter treats (yes even though I'm very much an adult but I live far away from Laurie's now). They are superior to every chocolate, my second favorite being Teuscher chocolates. Their chocolate covered strawberries are second to none. I remember when this placed burned down in the early 90's, I knew it then in my elementary years that it was a gem and I'm happy that they came back. This place is happiness and childhood. I ordered a dozen of half Carmel and half crushed peanuts Incase anyone was allergic... however the order got derailed a little. Debbie, called me and wasn't the best communicator and we definitely didn't take likely to one another... however I was so upset over the Miss communication and the lack of genuine care I received, I really didn't want the apples anymore but bc it was for my grandsons birthday I tried to feel and think differently. I was so upset up and down the highway I literally got lost using the GPS and went a day later... all I can say is her attitude uncaring and snobby but, since my mom liked the apples I simply say Thank you! The Best candy store in NJ!! for the last five years I have purchased chocolate covered fruit for my wife and ever time they are fresh and last a long time!! Laurie's has done many of our parties from showers to our wedding. For part of our wedding favors we did chocolate covered pretzel rods. The staff was great to work with and they decorated the favors perfect. Start selling cupcakes and I might move in!! read more

I have been going there for the last ten years and have never been disappointed.. But let me tell you about the customer service, the icing or let's say sprinkles on the candy. The quality of the candy has been good, at least what I have purchased in the past. (Chocolate covered fresh and dried fruits, marzipan, chocolate on sticks). My disappointment mainly comes in staffing. The employees are nice but it seems only one person is assigned to help customers while everyone else tends to other tasks in the store. This is a small store that can get pretty crowded during holiday seasons. Having only one person individually pick and box candy for customers, wrap each in ribbons and run the register while everyone else just waits is just uncomfortable, especially when you can see 4 other employees doing other things. If they had more people actually directly helping customers it would be a much better experience. read more

Incredible little store. The selection of homemade candies is remarkable for such a quaint shop that isn't in the heart of town. The service was also very friendly. In addition to edible treats they also had a nice selection of wreaths and Christmas trees when I came by. Whether you like fancier type chocolates or a simple bag of gummy bears they have you covered. Prices are reasonable and they do take cards. I guess the only thing I wasn't a fan of is that they had homemade fudge packaged but you couldn't get a specific amount or sample any of the flavors. I placed a special order for a box of chocolates with a message written on them to use in a photograph. When I picked up the chocolates they were stuck to a piece of cardboard with colored foil on the background. The first line was oddly curved and the next three were straight, the chocolates were various sizes and the lettering looked very dated. By the time I got home I regretted not saying something, especially since I was out $50.00 for something that was nothing like what I had requested. I tried to make the best of the situation and take the photo but because of the foil background, instead of the box that I had asked for, there was a glare. It was pretty much a waste of money for chocolates that tasted ok. read more

All of the candies, minus the gel fruits, had a very artificial taste to them. anything containing peanut butter was especially offensive,it.tasted like powdered pb.
