True to the name - casual, everyday Japanese restaurant that's unassuming from Rt 17. Like the name, it's also unpretentious - but that doesn't mean, without style. When you walk inside, you'll see the cherry blossoms and anime motif straight away. Here's what we ordered for dinner between me and my vegetarian hubs: --- Vegetable Tempura (heads up - served with eel sauce. delicious, but not veggie friendly because of the dashi, so use the soy sauce on the table if you're a strict veggie) --- Sweet Potato Tempura Roll (little dollops of eel sauce on top, so I ate these - so tasty!) --- Spicy Veggie Ramen (my husband said it was very good and very spicy, and told me that I wouldn't be able to handle it) --- Veggie Ramen (a good veggie ramen, nice broth and mix of textures with crunchy bean spout and corn, and soft noodles) With our meal, I ordered an unsweetened iced green tea. They give you a glass with ice and a bottle of ITO EN Oi Ocha, which is how I prefer it at a restaurant. We debated about getting boba, but decided to try it next time. The host was nice, and she seated us at one of the tables in the middle that had chair seats and a cushioned bench with a back. Our waiter was cool and took care of us. Also, they were really good with drink refills and checking in with all the customers dining in that day. You could see that they work hard and are hospitable. Quick, on point service from the staff. 5. Tasty gyoza. 6. Fresh, delicious sushi whether you're looking for maki, nigiri, specialty rolls that I'm sure don't exist in Japan, or anything else. Go figure??? We preferred the Shio and Shoyu chicken broths more than the Tonkotsu though. The marinated pork slices were huge and so tender in all of the ramens. Also, each ramen was topped with lots of scallions, onions and bamboo shoots, while the Tonkotsu also had wood ear mushrooms and the Shoyu had a sheet of dried seaweed. + Menu consisted of many other ramen bowls, traditional Japanese appetizers, fried chicken and donburi (rice bowls). She was friendly, quick, came back to check on us and remembered every request we made. We told the server and she was surprised since she said she never saw a mouse apparently. She mentioned she'd tell her manager before I immediately saw her text someone on the phone. Our server never mentioned about the mouse again since then. Or care to tell someone from her team at the restaurant about it. Having a mouse at a restaurant isn't normal and someone should look at this pest problem immediately. I felt like my word wasn't enough for the server to care to make a change. She didn't even ask where exactly did I see it. Wouldn't she want it removed asap? There were customers eating and the mouse could've headed their way. It'd be nice to be comforted by her saying that she did message her manager and the pest problem will be looked at immediately. I got a vegetarian roll and an AAC roll (avacodo, asparagus and cucumber). The vegetarian one was supposed to have a raddish in it but I didn't see or taste a difference. I also saw the Boba tea flyer and decided to get that too. I got the Taro one per the recommendation of the staff. I was glad I tried it since it was nice sweet and refreshing. They play some chill jazz music and serve your sushi on a cool wooden platform. They also threw in a small miss soup. Wish they had more variety for the vegetarian options and should consider adding a lunch special.
