Black garlic tonkotsu Ramen set with the salmon ikura bowl
Ashley B.

Awesome experience! My boyfriend and I stopped in on a whim and were so happy we did. We weren't insanely hungry, but we definitely wanted something small to eat. We ended up splitting the Ramen set and it was the perfect amount of food without feeling too full. In addition to a great portion size, the flavors were amazing and the salmon ikura bowl was absolutely perfect. Service was delightful, friendly and attentative. The food came out quickly and hot. The best part of all was it was priced very reasonably! I will definitely return when in the area and would definitely recommend to anyone looking to visit!

Ramen Azuma is the best ramen spot in the Hackensack area. The service is friendly and quick, and the ambience is lovely. The ramen was very tasty. I had the chicken ramen and the chicken was very soft. 10/10 experience.

Great ramen find! Glad I found this restaurant on Yelp because it didn't disappoint. We ordered the ramen combo with chicken and salmon which we loved. The broth of ramen tasted authentic. The ambience was great and they have a lot of parking space. The service was also good.

Take out for 2 ramens. I called to place order first and prob took about 10-15mins. Pretty quick. Ramen is good. Not oily. They separated soup from the noodles so it didn't get soggy by the time we ate it. Spacious inside. Lots tables and seats. Saw a group there for Christmas party. Great place for gathering.

My lunch set, tonkotsu ramen with karaage and rice with Shimai $17

Just wanted to have quick ramen lunch here. Surprisingly good ramen and great value for the lunch time. Tonkotsu ramen was just how it should be as Japanese standard. I could choose bunch of appetizers or small rice items in the lunch set. I choose karaage on to Tonkotsu and a small bowl of rice included. In addition, a young-man wait staff was super attentive and makes my lunch greater over more. I'll come for dinner next time.

Stopped by for some ramen while I was in the area and was very happy with what I found! Ramen Akuma has some great Japanese cuisine options, and today, I opted for getting their lunch special. For the very affordable price of $14.95, you get a miso pork belly rice bowl, tonkotsu ramen, and iced coffee. The ramen was sooo flavorful, with a very full body, umami, pork flavor and very bouncy and chewy noodles. The oil on top was a bit thick, but very on-brand for the tonkotsu. The rice with meat has a bit of a 5-spice like seasoning, that was good but kind of ambiguous in taste. The iced coffee to me felt as if there could have been a bit more condensed milk. The service here is immaculate, with a very friendly waiter who was quick to assist us with anything we needed. The parking lot is small but enough for the restaurant. The aesthetic of the restaurant is simple but classy, with movable grass dividers if you have a larger party. There is also tabletop bar seating available. Would recommend if you are looking for a Japanese restaurant in the area.

The decor of the restaurant is very modern. There is loads of space for large groups and also seats near the kitchen for people that want to dine alone. We were seated immediately and the waitress was very attentive to us. They kept checking on us to see if our food was to our taste. For a starter we got takoyaki and karage, both were pretty good! I got the tonkotsu shoyu with a side of friend shrimp. It was good but not as flavorful as I expected. I also got the lavender lemonade and it was a mix of sour and sweet. Definitely a must for the summer!

I really, really, really wanted to like Ramen Azuma because I wanted to check out their shiny, new location in Hackensack......but the food here was just OK when we visited. We swung by on a rainy, cool Saturday morning at 11:40ish, just after they opened for the day and, no shocker here as we were the very 1st customers of the afternoon. I had done a bit of research before we came in, so we were pretty much set on what we were going to order. The menu had quite a few different ramen selections - specifically they had a section for just "Ramen Specials", which were different than the regular ramen selections on the menu. Besides ramen, they served various platters that included appetizer meals, ramen combos and curry entrees. If you're planning to order an appetizer and a Tonkotsu ramen, your best bet would be to go for a ramen combo as it'll save you a few bucks. We started off our meal with 2 appetizers - Cha Shu Buns and Gyoza. First, the good - Gyoza. Solid, tasty, pretty much your typical Gyoza. Second, the bad - Cha Shu Buns. The piece of Cha Shu was very dry and there was barely any sauce and slaw in the bun. Poorly executed and was not good at all. Next, our ramens arrived. I ordered a Ramen and Chicken Teriyaki Combo (with yellow noodle) and added corn. The ramen was decent. Hard to say it was great though. It was pretty average. My wife ordered the Black Garlic Ramen. As expected, hers was a bit better because of the roasted black garlic flavor, but, once again, could be better still. As for the Chicken Teriyaki, it was also just OK. I did appreciate the fried chicken looking nature of the Chicken Teriyaki. That, I think, made it taste a bit better. We also ordered a Cha Shu Bowl for our children. I doubt most folks would order this (and I would say skip it too), but it was something for our children to try. All in all, was a rather disappointing experience. The restaurant WAS very new looking and clean and there was a large parking lot outside. Pluses there. And, the waiters were nice and the food came out very quick, but the flavors were very average. Nothing about the food really stood out and the Cha Shu could have been better. I always feel restaurants deserve a second chance and, hopefully, I'll change my mind next time.

Ramen goodness in Jersey! Went to different locations and this ramen place does not disappoint! Location: It is located along Hackensack. There is few seating inside and a bar. There is seating outside but not heated. Lot of street parking. Service: They were very attentive and nice. Food: they are famous with their ramens but I always order the combo. RAMEN and YAKINIKU: this is my favorite cause the ramen broth is so delicious and the beef yakiniku is so tender and tasty. PORK CUTLET PLATTER: the tonkatsu was tender inside and crispy outside, comes with miso soup and rice. RAMEN and CHICKEN KARAAGE: the chicken is crispy and cooked into perfection. SHRIMP TEMPURA: its like the one we buy in costco, this is my least favorite. GYOZA: its delicate and the pork and chives are tasty. LAVENDER LEMONADE: it was okay, too sweet. THAI TEA BOBA: this is better, so milky and not that sweet. Price rating: 7/10. Not bad for the goodness that you'll get. Visited this ramen place multiple times and it's always a good experience! Definitely will come back!

One of my favorite Ramen spots. I have tried most of the Ramen offerings as well as the newly added sushi. Fresh ingredients, large portions. Service is usually quick.

spicy tonkatsu with spicy miso chicken bowl

We have ordered takeout from here in the past and thought it was just ok but had a better experience dining in! Came in on a Sunday around 7 PM and it was pretty busy but still had some seating available. We opted for the bar seats since it was just the two of us. The aesthetic is very nice and modern. There is also a designated parking lot right out front so that is a huge plus. I recall ordering the salmon ikura bowl combo last time, and I am pretty sure they used smoked salmon instead of salmon sashimi so we avoided ordering that again this time. This time we got the special spicy sesame miso ramen with curry combo and the spicy tonkatsu ramen with the spicy miso chicken bowl. Also got an appetizer of the takoyaki. I have no complaints about our meal as we enjoyed it! I would come back and get the same thing again.

Clean and nice looking restaurant. Parking on site. Delicious ramen and service was prompt.

Currently this place is undergoing construction, they are actively serving. The waiters try their best, my colleagues and I have been here twice to give the benefit of the doubt, we were served raw bao buns , raw chicken and frothy ramen. Two of us got violently sick after taking and spitting out the few morsels of food. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Their coffee was not bad.

My dining partner and I were seated rather quickly. Our server took our drink orders and came back promptly so we could order our food. The menu is pretty extensive but we ordered an assortment of skewers and a bowl of ramen to share. The skewers came out little by little; about 3 skewers per plate. They didn't come all at once so I assume they bring them out as they finish getting grilled. The chicken heart was some of the best I've ever had. I'm not sure if it's the way it was sliced, the seasoning, or just everything about it but I wish we ordered more. The tail skewer was another standout. It had so much crunch that it was almost like it was fried. The flavors were rich and varied. Each skewer cost upwards of $4 so that's a bummer. Unfortunately the ramen wasn't so great. Not terrible, but not great either. Especially not great for $19. Not my first choice for ramen. Is it the most bang for your buck? Certainly not. But I did enjoy my meal and in the end, that's what matters.

The dining area is in rough shape -- cracked wood, dusty interior, and a generally run-down vibe that makes it feel borderline dirty rather than "casual." Service was also frustrating. Our servers couldn't answer basic questions about the menu, which is already hard to follow if you're not familiar with Japanese terms. It left us feeling lost rather than guided. On top of that, the pricing is steep for the suburbs -- $5-$8 per skewer adds up really quickly, and it just didn't feel worth it given the atmosphere and service. All the yakitori was decent but nothing mind blowing, smaller servings and overly salty. To make matters worse, the tap water was awful -- honestly undrinkable. Look at my picture I'm shocked they thought this was acceptable to bring to our table. The food itself may be authentic, but everything else about the experience dragged it down. Unfortunately, not somewhere I'd come back to.

For one thing, there's more indoor seating now. We were seated quickly, and our waiter handed us the menu. Based on my older photos, I'm pretty sure they've expanded their offerings. I noticed right away that they now serve Vietnamese coffee, and being a coffee lover, I simply had to try it. The waiter asked if I wanted it iced or hot, and I chose iced. Out came the Vietnamese coffee dripper, slowly dripping rich, aromatic coffee into my cup. On the side was another cup filled about three-quarters full with ice. I ordered the combo: Tonkotsu ramen noodles with a spicy pork rice bowl. The broth of the ramen noodles was incredibly fragrant as well as flavorful. It was not overly salty, as I find in many ramen restaurants. The noodles had the perfect QQ texture. Moving over to my spicy pork rice bowl, it was such a comfort bowl. You definitely have to stir before you eat, as the bottom of the bowl has all the spicy sauce. I am a huge fan of these types of bowls. As I ate happily, my phin filter finished brewing. The waiter had already placed condensed milk in the cup, so I gave it a quick stir. Taking advantage of the freshly brewed warmth, I sipped it hot first, then poured a bit over ice to compare. My verdict: if you enjoy a robust flavor, drink it hot. If you prefer something smoother and less intense, pour it over ice. Personally, I loved it hot, but be aware, Vietnamese coffee has more caffeine than espresso. It's sweeter too, thanks to the condensed milk. Our waiter made it not too sweet, at my request. He absolutely nailed it. Outright nirvana. They have a small parking lot, plus additional street parking. Outdoor seating is still available, which is lovely when the weather's warm. Phenomenal food and beverages. Highly recommend!

But then the total came out to $29 after tax?? Apparently I got charged an extra $3 for the beef?? Then the way they package the food could be improved. So there was a container with the broth, and a smaller inner container holding the other ingredients. It was a little inconvenient to get out, but once I did, I dumped it into the broth. But the noodles were on the bottom, meaning they were on top after the flip. So I was stuck just eating my way through the noodles before I reached everything else, and it was all in a big block, so it took a while to soften and loosen up. Also the container was kinda tall, so it was awkward to get the fork in there. Anyway, the food itself was good. The broth had a lot of flavor. Beef was fine, but could've been browned more. Veggie dumplings were awesome, and the lychee boba was obviously delicious.

The establishment has a very calm atmosphere, with a clean modern ambiance perfect for casual dining. Ambiance rate 7/10. To start off, they give an array of bottomless Korean side dishes like fish cake, kimchi, and radish which I enjoyed. My friend and I ordered... 1. Seafood Pancake: This appetizer was incredibly delicious! The variety of seafood incorporated into this soft Asian style savory pancake made it very flavorful! Rate 9/10. 2. Beef Tofu Stew: This had beef, kalguksu, and tofu at a regular spice level. This dish was average, nothing special. I enjoyed the tender beef. This dish tastes very heavy of tofu, even from a sip of the stew. Therefore, if you're a big fan of tofu, this dish is for you! Rate 6/10. 3. Pork Bulgogi Bento Box: I was satisfied with this box due to all the different kinds of foods included in it, such as miso soup, pork bulgogi, tempuras, japchae, salad, and rice. Overall, it was delicious and filling! However, the pork bulgogi wasn't too flavorful, or that spicy like advertised, and it was really oily. Rate 7/10. The service was very quick, and although our waiter was helpful, he didn't seem that friendly. For example, if I asked for more napkins, he would seem annoyed. Service/staff rate 5/10. Overall, this place is a nice spot to enjoy casual Korean food. However, I wouldn't come back here again because of the mediocrity of the dishes, and limited menu selection.
