Stopped by IT show after couple of years since my last visit. The store looks pretty much the same, nice comfy space. Menu has slight changes. Found the new 'ade' drinks. Mango-ade was fizzy and sweet. Chicken karaage was really well cooked. This time I got the shrimp tempura set. Came in for an early lunch on a Sunday. The front entrance is small but easy to find. We were craving tendon after a recent trip to Japan. We ordered the shrimp tendon and the salmon tendon. We also wanted to try the cheese tonkatsu and baby back rib bao - the tonkatsu was so crispy and cheesy (but I found the dipping sauce a bit too salty) and the rib meat in the bao was so tender. The tendon were plentiful and fried perfectly. We did end up taking home some leftovers. The raw salmon pieces were marinated and it was nice to have a non fried aspect of the meal. My favorite pieces of tempura were shrimp and pumpkin. Instead of broccoli, I would have preferred eggplant or shishito peppers. Would love to see additional seafood tendon choices like squid, scallops or eel. When we entered, we were surprised to find that we were the only ones there and the waiter/owner was with a friend. A bit unfortunate since it was during a Saturday lunch rush? Restaurant with a great atmosphere in a busy neighborhood. Great menu with a good variety. I was debating between the ramen and the cheese tonkatsu set ($23), but I finalized on the latter. No regrets there. The tonkatsu was sooo cheesy, and I liked the little plate of macaroni salad. I had wanted to visit IT Show after seeing some social media posts and seeing the cheese tonkatsu and the epic cheese pull. Came on a weekday evening for dinner and had made a reservation earlier that day. The restaurant is fairly small with a few tables. They were not too busy that evening. We started with the pork bao buns and of course the cheese tonkatsu. The pork buns came out first. The pork was super tender and the bun was soft and tasted sooo good! The cheese tonkatsu came after and omg the cheese pull was awesome! It was a pork cutlet with mozzarella. It was served with 2 kinds of dipping sauces. Our entrees came after, I had gotten the mentaiko cream ramen and my sister got the salmon tendon. Everything was delicious! This is our second visit to IT Show. We started this visit with the Cucumber Salad and were not impressed. Pretty flavorless. A smidge of vinegar would have helped so we asked for some. The waitress forgot so we had to ask twice. That happened quite a bit even before the restaurant got busy the service wasn't very good. Maybe she was new because the service our first time was very good. Next up was so miso soup which was presented with no spoons. She didn't come back so we had to ask for that too. The flavor was delicious. So savory and good but no tofu or seaweed. Just some onions. Maybe I've just eaten too much sushi take out. My dining companion was not impressed. I've never been a fan of tempura. Normally, it's pretty tasteless but I'll eat an IT Show tendon bowl any day of the week. Salmon is deliciously fatty and flavorful. It comes in a medium sized bowl and is propped up by a small dish. The tendon on the back is crispy and then chewy. Always freshly fried and doesn't feel greasy. I even eat the tempura broccoli and pumpkin. Never thought they'd taste good. Tsukemono was delish but it wasn't a big selection. I took a bite of the shishito pepper but that's the only thing I left in the bowl. It was just kind of meh. No big loss though. The unpleasant pieces: You are supposed to get an egg in the bowl - that was missing. My friend asked for a 2nd piece of pumpkin - we never saw that either. The waitress seemed annoyed we bothered to ask again. The black seaweed salad and yuzu tomato she was supposed to get never made an appearance. Stopped by this amazing looking place for dinner. Their tendon (tempura over rice) is amazing and you should def. get it. BUT their ramen is an also-ran and falls flat in broth taste, which makes me think it was an afterthought at best. If you're a serious ramen person like me, then you WILL know what I'm talking about when you slurp their Tonkotsu broth. So I ordered the IT Show signature tendon and man that thing was packed with delicious tempura - crispy potato sticks formed into a net holding the dish up, succulent mushroom, kabocha (pumpkin), delicious shrimp, white fish, shishito pepper, eggplant, and then some. With their sweet tempura soy sauce, they were a joy to eat - the batter is not greasy, very light yet chewy. Rice was slightly under done but I enjoy slightly under done rice anyway. Their egg could've been a bit runnier so that I could mix the rice with soy sauce better. Solid dish though, with good quantity as well. My wife's signature Tonkotsu ramen, as noted above, had that slightly artificial broth that tasted flat compared to those rich authentic pork bone broth of traditional Tonkotsu ramen. It's as if they tried to rush the process, and it showed in my very first slurp. The pork-on-the-bone topping and toppings in general & wavy ($1+ xtra) noodles were solid, however. Oh, they gave a bowl of miso soup with my tendon and same issue here - literally tasted like instant ramen soup packet... you know, it had that artificial taste... a bit flat + cardboard taste. I didn't go back to that after two spoons. They did give this radish pickle that reminded me of Korean bibim sauce which made it a great pickle to go with either dishes, and they gave me free soda when I checked in (though waitress didn't know what it was at first - this seems to happen a lot with yelp offers. Owners should tell their staff) One thing I found was odd is that when asked for water, they brought out bottled water so we said oh no, just regular water and waitress said they give out bottled water for free (Costco). So we took it of course, but I do not think this is helpful for environmental reasons... I saw a water cooler/dispenser in the corner - would be much better if they just serve water in a cup. Maybe they rather give out cheap bottled water than having to wash those cups? Anyway, I would strongly urge them to NOT serve free bottled water so that they're not adding to massive plastic bottle pollution problem. Overall, this is a great diversity to be added to already amazing offerings in Pal park. I would return to try other tendon and perhaps give their mentaiko cream ramen or miso ramen a try. read more

The problem is you have to come starving, because the menu has a lot to offer. I was a bit indecisive and went with my gut. We finally made it when it was a lot slower and got to avoid the rush of people I wanted to try their tendon cus my fav fried tempura is from raku and I wanted to see if this was better. People raved about it so we finally made it when it wasn't too crowded and the tendon is okay. It wasn't hot like I like it and some of it was really greasy. Cool to try but wouldn't get this again. Would try the skewers next time. Got the kuro ninnuki ramen (black garlic ramen). We asked our waiter and he said this is what he eats often. It was good. Broth was so flavorful! You can adjust the spicy level of all the broth and firmness of the noodles. We thought spicy might be too spicy so our waiter suggested to get normal and get spice on the side if needed and I wanted it to we got it and it was good! It comes with pork baby back rib instead of pork slices and my friend usually doesn't eat the meat in ramen but he said this was good and it was. Reminded me of galbi jjim. The karaage wasn't the most delicious I tried but well cooked. Ive had ones drenched in oil and batter and this one is relatively healthier compared to those. The appetizers - gyoza and gobo salad was good as well. I never had the gobo salad before and I must say I am a fan. A hidden gem in Palisades Park. My favorite dish was the Buta kakuni which is a braised pork belly in homemade tsuyu. The pork ripped apart easily and melts in your mouth. Their Kushikatsu C Set 8pcs is a lightly fried assortment of veggies & meat. Taste light and perfect for sharing. Clean restaurant with about 30 seats (including their counter seating). I regret not taking pictures of the restaurant but I hope to make up for it with food shots & their menu! The inside was super quaint with black/wood accents, iconic Hokusai art, and Japanese paper lanterns. There are, in fact, two entrances so depending on where you park (which is always an adventure in Pal Park) you can come inside from either direction and be seated. The menu has a lot of great options and their go-to dishes seem to be the tendon (tempura bowl) and ramen. We tried the signature bowl, karaage fried chicken, and the pork baby back rib bun. I didn't try it but I was told the karaage was definitely up there compared to others in the area. The pork bun was more tender than I expected and the sauce was a nice touch. I think it's worth trying once but the real highlight is obviously the tempura bowl. Aside from being aesthetic, you get a ton of stuff in it including items you might not find in typical bowls like eggplant & broccoli. Rice was outnumbered by the tempura but I'm okay with that. And the meal came with miso soup and a side of a few pickled veggies. Service was great and they checked in every so often to make sure everything was okay. Came due to some of the raving reviews and maybe got a bit too hyped up. Of course had to get the It show special tendons of a variety of fried items. Something I noticed was all their fried items were quite soggy without a nice crunch. The fried bits were falling apart and was not very pleasant. Their braised pork was very very soft and delicious. Loved the mustard wasabi??tasting side that came with it. The donkatsu wasnt very special and again, lacked some crispiness. Lastly the ramen had great textured noodles but the broth lacked some depth. Their egg isn't marinated but still was perfectly cooked. It's fried pretty well, and if you order a tendon, mix the egg with the rice and eat the tempura with the eggy rice, the flavors meld well together. Be aware that if you order the salmon tempura, it is raw salmon over rice plus a regular shrimp tempura set, not tempura salmon. The restaurant also has ramen but the ramen is not great. The noodles have an odd grainy flavor to them and the meat in the ramen is a spare rib (what?). The restaurant is not great for take out, because the food gets soggy by the time it gets to you. If you order a tendon, the tempura and rice are packaged in separate boxes to prevent this, but it does not work. The service leaves much to be desired. There is literally one waitress and one busboy and the busboy does not speak English. They would not let us wait for our table at the bar, even though literally zero people sat at the bar the entire time we were at the restaurant. Our kid threw up during the meal eating the ramen and we asked the busboy for a towel. He gave us a blank stare and then proceed to clear another table without even alerting our waitress. Came in on a Saturday for a late lunch. It is a small but cozy spot. I opted for the Signature Tempura plate and and was very satisfied! I usually don't like tomatoes but the yuzu tomato was delicious and refreshing. The tempura was fried to a nice crisp, though I like my lotus root to be cooked through just a bit more. The whitefish tempura held together well but was moist and flaky when bitten into. We shared the buta kakuni, which was larger than I anticipated! It was super tender, juicy, and slightly sweet, pairing well with the karashi mustard. My boyfriend got the spicy kuro ninniku ramen and I was able to sample the broth. It was just alright, I've had much better. I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to ramen broths, so likely won't be ordering ramen when I come here next. I came with my parents for lunch and we ordered the salmon tendon, tempura set, and a miso ramen. The food came hot and served right when the cooks put them up for service. My tempura set included a yuzu tomato, miso soup, cabbage salad, and some seasoned rice. The yuzu tomato was a pleasant surprise, and I enjoyed it the most out of all the side dishes. Whenever I think about ramen, I usually think about this place. It Show is a hole in the wall restaurant. It is easy to miss, and is down a hallway inside a building. There is ample seating and the restaurant itself is very clean and modern. What I like most about this place is that it is open late. Since I work late, this has been useful. I typically order their Mala ramen. You have the option of picking the firmness of your noodles and the spice level. I typically opt for spicy, it is enjoyable and not spicy enough for me that hurts. If you are not a spice person whatsoever, do not try it. You will not enjoy it. I have had their tempura, rib bao buns, kurage, and cucumber salad. The food here doesn't disappoint. We started off with the kishikatau C set and the braised pork belly. Both of these were absolutely delicious and I have no complaints. The braised pork belly felt especially worth it. It was packed with flavor and the serving was huge for the price. I definitely still think about it and crave it, but it's very hearty, I wouldn't get it if you're in the mood for a light appetizer. For entrees my fiancé got the signature it show tempura plate which had a lot on it. I was very interested in the yuzu tomato but it felt like something that needed an acquired taste. It would definitely be liked by some, but not by us. The tempura itself tasted fresh and it wasn't too heavy. They also gave a lot of tempura and sides so it was definitely worth the money. I got the mentaiko cream ramen which honestly felt like the most lackluster menu item. It was thin and missing umami and flavor. It tasted like plain cream and pure spice. I will say it was much spicier than expected though, even with the cream component.
