Ambiance is super cozy and they did a wonderful job incorporating tv show characters with modern decor. Sushi for the price was also fantastic. You could tell it was fresh. I ended up ordering 3 trays. Ramen is what brought this review down. The vegetables and mushrooms were fantastic however you could tell they used store bought noodles which made it taste pretty artificial.

Who says a resto cannot serve both good sushi and ramen? Shokudo serves both! Usually I get a little leery of soups at a sushi restaurant but we were pleasantly surprised to have such a good meal here! We had the beef and truffle roll-- very good and would get it again and again-- and regular rolls like spicy tuna, tuna and California. We also had their garlic ramen which was flavorful and had a pretty rice deep broth with alot of umami. The pork was broiled just right and the noodles were Al dente. Interior is pretty and anime-inspired, restrooms were clean, and service is attentive and fast. Dedicated parking lot for their building along rt 17 near Garden State Mall.

The atmosphere was good. I went with my parents and brother because they like ramen. It was definitely authentic Japanese food I would recommend to anyone who loves ramen or soba. Tastes like Japan

A solid sushi and ramen restaurant located on rt17 with modern decor and a nice vibe. Food was pretty good and I would return again. Staff were friendly and attentive and we had a good overall dining experience.

Making the trip from Westchester County, NY for a specific shopping need, we found ourselves starving and on a cool day, ramen fit the bill. The restaurant felt like a take-out heavy spot (we could hear the others coming in), but the inside atmosphere was actually nice! The only drink options were canned sodas and bottled drinks. I prefer a fountain soda personally. But not a big deal. We got 2 different ramens, the only difference was one had black truffle oil. Couldn't taste the oil in the broth. Broth overall didn't have much flavor substance, but starving we ate and went on our way. Overall, we just weren't impressed.

Newly opened restaurant on NJ-17, really nice place, they did an amazing job of creating a good ambiance, with hint of cherry blossom. The walls have different Japanese wallpapers and lots of Anime character dolls. We came for Sunday dinner, it wasn't crowded. The menu has bunch of ramen, good options between pork, chicken and veggie broths. Lots of sushi/sashimi available as well. We ordered the chicken karaage and takoyaki for appetizers. Both were really good. Not over fried. Karaage came with red chili sauce. For entree, tried the Shio garlic ramen with chicken. It was good portion, good noodles, broth seemed creamy. Next time I have to try the spicy version. Cutlet was nicely cooked, not over fried. Also got the Eel Dragon roll. The plate was beautiful. Came with an extra salmon roll on the side. I liked the sushi more than the ramen. It was so well made. Had really good taste overall. Their service is excellent. Food came out really fast. Except summer roll, that takes some time to prepare, others came out within few minutes of ordering. There's 5% discount for paying cash. Really good place to dine with family and friends.

Service 5/5 Food 3/5 Nice and new ramen place in the neighborhood. Very clean. Staff is friendly. Ramen itself was ok. It needed more seasoning. Ramen texture was off. Takoyaki was good. Karaage needed more seasoning. Sushi was standard.

I finally got to dine at Shokudo. Ramen was needed for the chilly night. We had arrived pretty late but thankfully they were still able to seat us. The restaurant has a cool vibe with anime figurines and cherry blossoms throughout the entire restaurant. They have a good variety of ramen and sushi. We started with the bao buns and tried both the chicken pork belly. Both were so good and that pork belly was my favorite and very tender. We also had ordered a shrimp tempura roll that was made fresh. I had ordered the shokkudo ramen. It was really good-- it included egg, bean sprouts, corn, scallion, fish cakes, noodles in a pork broth, and tender pork belly. The broth was very flavorful and the noodles were just right. I had enjoyed my ramen. Overall it was a very delicious meal! I will def come back again for my next ramen craving.

That's a good thing as downtown can be a logistical nightmare to park and grab a quick bite. Menya has a small, comfortable seating area. For lunch, I tried the shoyu ramen with a soft boiled egg and side of spicy oil. The broth was light and flavorful. The chashu was very tender and seared nicely. The shoyu came with straight noodles instead of wavy, but it was still good. The bowl had menma, as well as red and green onions. I enjoyed the bowl so much, we went back for dinner the same day. For dinner, I tried the shio ramen, which was basically the same thing, but with a sea salt tare instead of soy sauce. I also got wavy noodles this time and I definitely prefer the wavy noodles. Once again, it came with red and green onion, which i think is a bit overpowering. I would get just green onion next time. The family/couple sets seem to be a great deal. I would definitely return.

Not only is the food awesome - I ordered a ramen, plain hot dog, and halo-halo shaved ice (addictively good) - but bonus stars to the staff who were sooo sweet! The Hawaiian style shaved ice and home-made ice cream are top notch. The ice cream is rich and delicious, with some unique flavors, and the shaved ice is very fine - fluffy and evenly slushy in texture and sweetness, unlike the inferior versions where you run into bland chips of ice. The toppings are yum too. The ramen noodles are springy, settled in a savory light broth. For a non-prestige grade ramen, I have no complaints. I also want to acknowledge the lovely hospitality. My child was in a tantrum-y mood and went to sulk by himself in a corner. Seeing the pouty little grump in a small fit, the girls at the counter coaxed him over with ice cream and stickers, which he of course eagerly accepted, pleased by the attention and confection, and was soon back to his endearing self. So I really appreciated their extra kindness! This is a fab joint for a quick-casual or just a perfect sweet treat!
