Who says a resto cannot serve both good sushi and ramen? Shokudo serves both! Usually I get a little leery of soups at a sushi restaurant but we were pleasantly surprised to have such a good meal here! We had the beef and truffle roll-- very good and would get it again and again-- and regular rolls like spicy tuna, tuna and California. We also had their garlic ramen which was flavorful and had a pretty rice deep broth with alot of umami. The pork was broiled just right and the noodles were Al dente. Interior is pretty and anime-inspired, restrooms were clean, and service is attentive and fast. Dedicated parking lot for their building along rt 17 near Garden State Mall.

The atmosphere was good. I went with my parents and brother because they like ramen. It was definitely authentic Japanese food I would recommend to anyone who loves ramen or soba. Tastes like Japan

A solid sushi and ramen restaurant located on rt17 with modern decor and a nice vibe. Food was pretty good and I would return again. Staff were friendly and attentive and we had a good overall dining experience.

Making the trip from Westchester County, NY for a specific shopping need, we found ourselves starving and on a cool day, ramen fit the bill. The restaurant felt like a take-out heavy spot (we could hear the others coming in), but the inside atmosphere was actually nice! The only drink options were canned sodas and bottled drinks. I prefer a fountain soda personally. But not a big deal. We got 2 different ramens, the only difference was one had black truffle oil. Couldn't taste the oil in the broth. Broth overall didn't have much flavor substance, but starving we ate and went on our way. Overall, we just weren't impressed.

I finally got to dine at Shokudo. Ramen was needed for the chilly night. We had arrived pretty late but thankfully they were still able to seat us. The restaurant has a cool vibe with anime figurines and cherry blossoms throughout the entire restaurant. They have a good variety of ramen and sushi. We started with the bao buns and tried both the chicken pork belly. Both were so good and that pork belly was my favorite and very tender. We also had ordered a shrimp tempura roll that was made fresh. I had ordered the shokkudo ramen. It was really good-- it included egg, bean sprouts, corn, scallion, fish cakes, noodles in a pork broth, and tender pork belly. The broth was very flavorful and the noodles were just right. I had enjoyed my ramen. Overall it was a very delicious meal! I will def come back again for my next ramen craving.

Newly opened restaurant on NJ-17, really nice place, they did an amazing job of creating a good ambiance, with hint of cherry blossom. The walls have different Japanese wallpapers and lots of Anime character dolls. We came for Sunday dinner, it wasn't crowded. The menu has bunch of ramen, good options between pork, chicken and veggie broths. Lots of sushi/sashimi available as well. We ordered the chicken karaage and takoyaki for appetizers. Both were really good. Not over fried. Karaage came with red chili sauce. For entree, tried the Shio garlic ramen with chicken. It was good portion, good noodles, broth seemed creamy. Next time I have to try the spicy version. Cutlet was nicely cooked, not over fried. Also got the Eel Dragon roll. The plate was beautiful. Came with an extra salmon roll on the side. I liked the sushi more than the ramen. It was so well made. Had really good taste overall. Their service is excellent. Food came out really fast. Except summer roll, that takes some time to prepare, others came out within few minutes of ordering. There's 5% discount for paying cash. Really good place to dine with family and friends.

Service 5/5 Food 3/5 Nice and new ramen place in the neighborhood. Very clean. Staff is friendly. Ramen itself was ok. It needed more seasoning. Ramen texture was off. Takoyaki was good. Karaage needed more seasoning. Sushi was standard.

11/25/23 Happen to noticed the sign driving by so made a note to come back. Always on the hunt for ramen places :D We stopped in tonight, a cold night. Karaage - bit greasy, the flour was flavorless, if it wasn't served with a dipping sauce we might not have eaten it... Miso Ramen - broth was ok, there wasn't much miso flavor, more like just creamy Tonkotsu flavor.... The chashu was not tender... it should be softer... The egg was good, would have liked more than a half egg, very flavorful on its own. Spicy Ramen - hubby got this and I actually preferred it, the broth is creamy and just the right spicy, it was more flavorful than the miso... But the same problem with the chashu... Because it was a cold night hubby said the ramen was not as hot as he expected. And honestly my ramen was hotter... weird since they came out at the same time. Honestly it was 2.5 Star, unfortunately that is not an option, because the broth was tasty and they do have a fish cake which I only just realized that I have not had them in some time... everyone is leaving it out.... Service was good, they kept coming back to check on us. I saw the high rating and had high hopes for a great Ramen restaurant. Should have paid more attention to who was doing the reviews, most were none Asians... and in the restaurant, I was the only Asian face not working there...

FINALLY an actual standalone ramen restaurant in Paramus! And one that is actually good too! For all of the real estate that retail and restaurants take up in Paramus, it's beyond me how the town actually doesn't have a ramen restaurant that is actually a standalone restaurant and not some hidden location in a mall. But, thankfully Shokudo opened up recently and we couldn't wait to try it out. We gave it a bit of a period to "break in" and see how the reviews were, but after seeing the slew of positive elite reviews we knew it was time to drop by. Our family finally stopped in on a very, very soggy Saturday morning at about 11:40. First, I love that they open at 11:00 everyday because so many restaurants typically don't open till noon and finding an early lunch spot can be tough because of that. We were the first diners of the day, so I felt like were given a bit of special attention as other customers flowed in after - although the waiters really warmed up to our 2 little ones too, so that could have been it as well. Menu was pretty simple - appetizers + sushi on one side and ramen + rice platters on the other side. Of course we would have lovvvvved to have tried everything on this 1st trip, but, honestly, we were here for 1 order of business - to satisfy our longstanding craving for RAMEN. My wife ordered the Shokudo Ramen and I had the Tonkotsu Ramen. In addition, we also ordered a Gyoza appetizer and a Teriyaki Chicken rice platter for the kids to share. First things first, Gyoza, which came with 6 pieces. Solid starter. Can't say it's going to blow you away, but it was good. It was fresh, hot and our kids loved it. Nice way to wet the beak. Next, ramen. So, this was really my fault, but I was a bit disappointed that the noodle served in the ramen bowls weren't actually traditional ramen ramen. Both of our orders were actually served with straight noodles. I anticipated actual ramen, but it clearly stated on the menu that they served either straight noodles or egg noodles for each bowl when you read the ingredients. I completely missed that. MY BAD THERE. Either way, both ramen bowls were really good still. Tasty broth, solid flavorful ingredients and the soft-eggs in both bowls were delicious. I actually liked my wife's broth a bit more in the Shokudo Ramen because hers had black garlic oil, which added a touch more flavor. Since I eat like a hippo, I felt that I could have eaten more, but the ramen bowls are pretty much average size and satisfy the average appetite, so they did hit the spot. We also added corn into our ramen bowls, which it would have nice if the ramen already came with it, but it's also typical that some restaurants consider it an add-on too. No biggie for another $1.50. As for the Teriyaki Chicken rice platter that our kids shared. We taste tested it a bit and it was OK. Flavor was there for the chicken, but we would have liked it to have been a bit softer. Once again, small complaint - no biggie at all because our kids still ate it. Overall, we loved the hospitality that we received from the staff. The waiter and waitress that served us were very, very friendly and the waitress, in particular, really loved interacting with our kids. Also, the restaurant was super clean, new and I loved that it was so sleek and spacious. We will DEFINITELY be back at some point because there is definitely unfinished business with the rest of the menu :).

PROS: - food quality is excellent - food comes out fast - staff is efficient - ramen and sushi is excellent 10/10 CONS: - can get packed on wknds The food and service here is great. Staff is very efficient and food came out fast. Came here on a Saturday. We were driving in the area and super hungry and this was the first place we saw. We didn't look at reviews or anything bc we were just so hungry. We were pleasantly surprised with the space and quality of food. I had the tonkotsu ramen and my husband had the miso ramen. The tonkotsu ramen was one of the best I've ever had. If I had a bigger stomach I would have been able to finish my bowl. We also order a few rolls which were equally fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this place and would definitely go back if in the area again.

High quality new sushi and ramen restaurant off Route 17 in Paramus. I tried a bunch of their sushi rolls (not just by myself): Manhattan Monkey ($17) - This was an interesting one, as it had fuji apple (which gave a nice refreshing sweetness) in addition to the salmon and avocado. It also had king crab tempura, also it was such a little amount that you really had to try hard to taste it to notice it at all. Hot Girl Roll ($16) - nice combo of shrimp tempura inside and seared salmon on the outside Godzilla Roll ($15) - similar to the Hot Girl Roll except without the seared salmon and with mango on the inside which I liked, as it gave a bit more sweetness Eel Dragon Roll ($15), Philadelphia Roll ($8.50), and Spicy Tuna Roll ($8) - all tasty classics, not much else to note on these While I didn't personally taste the ramen, I heard from others at the table that it was pretty good. The "soba" wasn't really soba though, as it was more like just dry ramen noodles. The restaurant is conveniently located right off Route 17 with a decently sized parking lot in front. There was only one other table of customers when we went on a weekend afternoon. The staff are average friendliness and the service speed is fine. Since it is a new restaurant, it is fairly clean. Overall, if you are looking for a good Japanese restaurant in Paramus, I would recommend trying out Shokudo.

The Hawaiian style shaved ice and home-made ice cream are top notch. The ice cream is rich and delicious, with some unique flavors, and the shaved ice is very fine - fluffy and evenly slushy in texture and sweetness, unlike the inferior versions where you run into bland chips of ice. The toppings are yum too. The ramen noodles are springy, settled in a savory light broth. For a non-prestige grade ramen, I have no complaints. I also want to acknowledge the lovely hospitality. My child was in a tantrum-y mood and went to sulk by himself in a corner.
