    Chicken ramen
    Adriana M.

My boyfriend and I came here since I was craving some crispy rice. This is a cute intimate spot. The service was quick and friendly. We started with the salmon crispy rice which was delicious and probably the best I've had. Usually I go for tuna crispy rice but we wanted to try something different. For mains, my boyfriend had the chicken ramen, the broth was very rich. My bf liked all the ingredients in his ramen. I got the suram signature maki number four, which was a salmon avocado roll with spicy salmon, crunch, and tobiko on top. Very delicious and filling, you can tell that the ingredients are fresh. Solid spot we would definitely be back.

Been here a few times and the food is mediocre and overpriced. You can genuinely get the same anywhere else. Their shrimp tempura roll was decent and so was the spicy crab roll spent $23 for it...Kani salad was ok but dry and not the best. Their chicken dumplings are ok as well. Their shrimp tempura were good. Nothing really spectacular. If you want something quick I would suggest. Service is a bit lukewarm. Place is beautiful though.

I've eaten in the restaurant several times, usually the ramen, and it was fine. Nothing spectacular, but consistently decent. Ordered takeout for the first time today and it was not good. Kani salad had way too much mayo, yellowtail roll was bitter and I got a sad piece of white tuna nigiri that was small, dried out and cost $8.25 for the single piece (normally there would be two). I will not order sushi from them again.

    BLACK SESAME CHEESE CAKE

Food is good but overpriced. Everything was fresh and flavorful. I really liked the salmon carpaccio. It melted in my mouth and the citrus with the truffle oil was a good combination. There is a single bathroom that was kept clean so that's good. And the food came out quick. The sesame cheese cake sounded good and different, it was pretty dense and it wasn't amazing but still good. They drizzled maraschino cherry juice over it which doesn't really go with black sesame. I made a reservation through google but apparently that doesn't do anything, I told the waiter and he said they don't take reservations. It wasn't too bust at 6:00 on a Friday night. It is a small place with about 10 tables. Downsides were the prices and the floor was very very slippery coming in. It was raining outside so it was soaking wet and I almost slipped and fell multiple times. Someone should mop the floor when it rains.

Had a lovely time with my little one. Food is always fresh, light and delicious. Service is attentive, prompt and kind. The space isn't big and can feel a little tight but still pleasant. It can get pretty busy so I'd advise to call before walk-in.

2nd time leaving a review. Decided to give them another shot, this will be the last. Do NOT recommend anybody going here, ridiculously overpriced. Got the Suram Bowl for ~ 30$. What do you get? 95% white rice, a quarter avocado and one roll worth of fish. Pokebowl ripoff.

Nice quiet spot with good variety of options best for a quick meal with friends. Suram is relatively small which gives a nice neighborhood vibe. It also makes it easy to grab the attention of the waitstaff. The decor is warm with an emphasis on wooden panels and soft lighting. There is a good variety of food options including sushi a la carte, omakase, ramen and specialty sushi options. I was not particularly impressed by the quality of ingredients but the rolls were put together well. I most enjoyed the tuna and salmons crispy rice. The special roll "six" was also quite good. I would skip anything very simple because the sauces really help here. We did not enjoy the avocado crab rolls or the shishito peppers. Overall this neighborhood spot gets a soft 4 stars as a decent option for a bite with friends. I enjoyed the meal and the prices are very fair but I prefer sushi spots that emphasize ingredient quality. I may stop in again to try the ramen.

For a $13 carafe of hot sake, you can't go wrong with we ordered two because how could we not! It went down great with our dishes- sushi deluxe and chirashi. The fish was super fresh and flavorful and served nice, thick cuts. It was so good I wanted more! While it's a smaller restaurant, it created a nice vibe where you can take your time eating and chatting over drinks.

Came across this place while walking away from Hudson Yards in search of food. The ambiance was definitely more "polished" on top of their Japanese decors. The service was okay, as food came out pretty slow.. especially the Japanese ramen. The sushi came out first and my friend was already half way through when we had to ask our waitress again when the ramen was coming out.. By the time it came out he was already done eating and was nibbling on some leftover avocado salad. The shishito peppers were huge and barely seasoned.. not sure what we were supposed to taste.. The ramen was a bit bland too and I used a lot of the chili oil(?) that it came with. Overall, it was just okay b/c a lot of the dishes were a bit bland and service could have been better.

I saw this place from the outside and thought it looked nice to drop in for an early dinner. Pics looked nice from Yelp, but I must say I was very underwhelmed. Staff were helpful, and the ambiance was nice, chill, quiet. However, the food looked sloppy, what was supposed to be spicy tuna rolls were not spicy. The fish was just overly big for no reason. The fish did not appear to be as fresh as I am used to. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be returning.

You barely interact with anyone because of how the booths work, but that's part of what makes it so cool. The ramen is $21, which honestly isn't bad for Times Square. Some of the staff has been here for a while, which tells me it is a well managed operation. Quality is still the focus at TONCHIN. Table comfort is still not. I love to bring my children when not crazy crowded so they can also enjoy one of the best ramen restaurants in the world. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but I haven't found better yet. Summer soupless ramen with perfectly chewy noodles and slightly spicy sauce is a great addition. The vegan ban ban kinoko as well as its chicken version are great also during summer. The maguro is delicious but I don't find it as satisfying as the noodles. Mind spiciness level for the younglings. In the winter, the spicy tantan or Tokyo ramen always hit the spot. Fish bun has been improved slightly over the years but thank ramen-sama, it is always as messy to eat as the first time I tried it 7 years ago. Desserts are surprisingly delicious. Typically Japanese ramen restaurants lack in that domain but not here. The Tokyo banana is perfectly crafted: creamy crunchy tasty. The shaved ice are great and super fun to eat. We started with the pork belly appetizer which was recommended and stated on the menu indicating it's their featured dish. It was the biggest disappointment as it was extremely fatty with large chunks of fat, while the lean portions were dry. It didn't look very appetizing. The dumplings were just okay--they had decent flavor but I was hoping for a crispier texture. I ordered the Zebra Ramen. The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente, but the broth was much saltier than I would have preferred. The pat of butter felt unnecessary and made the broth overly rich without adding much depth. The chashu was on the small side and also quite fatty and I assume it's the same as the appetizer but was sliced instead of in large chunks. The marinated egg had good flavor, although the yolk was a little more cooked than I typically like. Another thing is the pork belly appetizer came with an egg. I wish the server would tell us so we didn't have to add it to our ramen with an extra charge. The nori was also completely soggy by the time it reached our table. Overall, the noodles were the only highlight of the meal and the rest were very underwhelming. It's definitely not a place I would recommend.

This spot delivers the kind of authentic paitan that reminds you why people used to line up on cold sidewalks just for a bowl. I ordered the Paitan Ramen Deluxe, and it genuinely lives up to the name. The broth is silky, rich, and comforting without being overly salty which is exactly what a proper paitan should be. The bowl comes loaded: tender shredded chicken, seared chashu, marinated soft-boiled eggs, fresh scallions, bamboo shoots, and a sheet of nori that ties everything together. Every topping tastes intentional, not just filler. The texture balance is what really stands out fatty chashu that melts, shredded chicken with real flavor, and noodles that hold up beautifully in the broth. You can taste the care in the soup base; it has depth, not just heat or salt. If you loved Totto Ramen back in the day, this feels like its modern successor same spirit, new precision.
