Good option for brothless ramen. Came for weekday lunch with a friend and had no trouble getting a table. Abura soba with beef and Abura soba with hamura were both super tasty.

I was super excited to try this place and really wanted to like it. We came on a Wednesday evening and were seated right away. The staff are really nice and service was quick at first but it took over 15 minutes for a staff to come to us so we could pay. You order through your phone and pay by clicking a button on your phone after scanning the qr code on the table. The place is super cute and cozy. They were quite busy the entire time we were there. Food- we got the takoyaki, tonkotsu ramen and the original abura soba. The takoyai was the only thing we liked. The ramen and soba were just not flavorful, tasting very watered down. The chashu pork was super tough as well.

We were passing by this spot and decided to stop in to try their ramen. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and a seaweed salad. The tonkotsu broth was visibly creamy, but a bit too salty for my taste. Portion-wise, there was less broth than I'm used to. Unfortunately, they don't offer a vegetarian ramen option, so my friend couldn't order soup. Instead, he had the seaweed salad, cucumber salad, and octopus balls, which were tasty and flavorful. Overall, it was a decent bowl of ramen, but nothing outstanding. The staff was kind and friendly, and the interior was clean and cute.

The bowl served to me has been broken.

They claim to serve "Japanese ramen and rice bowls," but the ramen was so thin and soft it tasted like overcooked pantry noodles after an all-nighter. Absolutely none of the chewy texture or soul you'd expect from real Japanese ramen. Honestly, I'm convinced the kitchen just opened a pack of regular dried noodles and said, "Congratulations, you're tonkotsu ramen now." The fried chicken had an even deeper story to tell -- literally deep fried. The color was so dark it looked like the oil had survived at least a hundred batches and several economic recessions. Every bite carried the emotional weight of "this fryer has seen things." And just to top it off, the ramen came in a cracked bowl. Not the chic wabi-sabi kind of rustic aesthetic -- more like "this bowl lost an argument with the previous customer."

The abura soba is really great and the appetizers we had were delicious, the sunomono and takoyaki. I wish the service was a little more efficient to start but once things were not as busy, they were much more attentive.

My friend and I went to Kajiken around 1pm on a Friday. They don't take reservations for smaller parties, so try to go at an off-peak time if you do not want to wait. We happened to go after a holiday when it was pretty windy out, so we did not have to wait. By the time we finished eating around 2:30, the place had really cleared out. The interior has the Japanese decor that makes it seem like a bustling street stall. Since it was a Friday, my friend and I took advantage of their lunch special. We both had the abura soba; I had the original with takoyaki ($22.95) and my friend got the roasted beef with gyoza ($25.95). The special also comes with a drink, but they only offer soft drinks (my friend asked for tea, and they said no). A lunch special over $20 will always be pricey, but appropriate for midtown location. Everything tasted great and had nice flavor, though I don't have a comparison for the abura soba, since this was my first time trying it. It was heavy on the oil, which was my only critique of the dish. Service was mixed. It took a while for anyone to check in on us or offer a water refill. However, they didn't rush us at all, and we even had to flag them down for the bill. I'm sure if it was busier, they could've been more pushy to turn tables, but it was a nice gesture. Overall, I enjoyed Kajiken, and I would go back to try other things!

Pulled up here looking for options for pho around Bryant Park. There weren't any open, so we settled for this spot. It was freezing, we were a party of 6 so we were sat by the door. Every time the door opened the Arctic city air hit us like a boxer. We were promptly greeted and served. My cuzzo had the shrimp noodles, I went chicken curry, my wife and my cousin's girlfriend went beef. We all ordered chicken broth on the side. My kids had the karaage. While the curry was mad tasty, the broth was a little greasy, although it should have been, but it was too greasy. It had flavor though. The beef dishes were good as well as the karaage. The sauces on the side for the chicken were tasty, some spicy mayo and a soy based joint. Mixed reviews among the crew, if it were a bit more cozy in there it may have changed the experience.

Delicious and speedy! Was decently busy on a Monday night but was still able to get seated with no problems. Service is efficient and food comes out quickly so it's a good choice for a speedy dinner in midtown. The ramen they specialize in is abura soba, which is brothless mixed noodles with a rich oily sauce and various toppings. I got the original, which came with tender chashu and bamboo shoots. It was delicious! They also have a variety of toppings and extras that you can add on your table to enhance or change up the flavor if you get bored.

I want to love this place so bad because I really like tsukemen but it's always a bunch of little things! It's easy to make a reservation via Yelp and they were very communicative of a delay due to the previous party. We were seated pretty quickly after that and we got apps and a variety of tsukemen and ramen. It's very lively and bright and bustling especially on a holiday weekend but the staff is still efficient. My only qualms are that the staff had their thumbs on the rims of bowls and the water cups each time which is a big no-no for me. The apps also came before the entrees and the geso kara was a bit over fried but the karaage was very good! My friend really enjoyed the shoyu ramen and I really like the beef tsukemen - it's just very garlicky FYI. The sukiyaki rice is also yummy. It's a reallly fast and decent spot for the area if you don't want to venture into ktown!

I had this spot bookmarked when my sister suggested it for a lunch before our Broadway show. It's a Japanese chain known for their dry ramen or abura soba, which are thicker noodles served with sauce. We got there just before 11:30 on a Sunday, when they open, and they were still setting up. It must be a popular place because there were a few other groups waiting with us, and as soon as the doors opened, they had a steady flow of people coming in. Since we weren't hungry enough to each order a bowl of noodles, we decided to order one, and a few other things to share. We had: -Kaki Fry (deep-fried oyster with egg tartar dipping sauce) - the oysters were good but I didn't care for the tartar sauce, which was really just like a mayo -Gyoza - we didn't realize these were deep-fried, especially since the menu didn't specify, and the picture showed pan-fried gyoza. Had we known it was deep-fried, we would have ordered something else, especially since we already had another fried appetizer. But, the filling was standard - fine but nothing to write home about -Roasted Beef Abura Soba (noodles with roasted beef, raw egg yolk, fried onion, scallion, yogurt, and Chaliapin sauce) - the menu says 'roasted' beef, but it's actually raw, which I liked. I was iffy about the yogurt at first but it turns out this made the dish, along with the sauce. It was the noodles creamy, which was nice against the raw beef and egg yolk. This was especially good with some white pepper and their (homemade?) chili oil -Homura Don (spicy minced pork, soft boiled egg, and scallion) - these are smaller portions, which was perfect for us since we just wanted to try it. It would have been my second option for the noodles. Unfortunately, I don't think we ordered the right one because the minced pork was dry and a little bland. The chili oil helped a little bit I would definitely come back for another roasted beef noodle, but I think that's the only thing I'd order.

Kajiken is known for their soupless ramen (abura soba) and I did not expect to have liked it that much (only because I'm a soup girly), but this was one of the highlights from my New York trip! I got to try the Niku Soba, the original and their salad which included avocado, mushrooms and friend onion. The noodles were so delicious and the sauce to mix with was super flavorful. You also get the option to add vinegar and oil to your liking once you get your order. They also have other things on the menu and ramen with soup but I really wanted to try out their soupless ramens, since that's what they are known for! I highly would recommend this place and can't wait for the next time to get it again! Wait time was also not bad too and the ambiance was really nice!

I just defaulted to Ichiran's suggested levels for everything which made it fast and easy. You don't even see the face of the person who brings out the ramen which gives the whole process a mysterious bank teller vibe. With all this, the classic tonkotsu ramen ($23) with slender noodles nearly gets overshadowed, but don't fret since it's fantastic. I believe when you're done, you just get up and leave. For a restaurant, especially one serving customizable ramen dishes, with a allergy list post on the wall by the counter where I sat at B1, a little flexibility or empathy toward food allergies would go a long way. The interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming, which made the overall dining experience uncomfortable. Customer service matters just as much as the food, and sadly this visit fell short.
