The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the beef was delicious. I will say that I wish the broth had more flavor, but it did feel light and clean. Stopped by Dun Huang after a long travel day and it really hit the spot. We ordered a mix: signature Lanzhou noodles, Dun Huang fried noodles, Chinese hamburger, and lamb pilaf. Everything came out great. The Lanzhou noodles were the highlight--fresh, chewy, and really comforting. Fried noodles had a lot of flavor, and the Chinese hamburger was a nice addition. My friends came here on a Sunday evening around 6:30 and there was no wait to be seated for a party of 4. There were only a few people in the restaurant at the time and it was recommend to us as one of the more affordable restaurants in Long Island city. Looking for some spice, I ordered the handpulled noodles and ordered the spicy chilli oil spill noodles and also spilt a side of spicy lamb skewers with a friend. I would note that most of this menu is using a beef base but there are limited handpulled noodle dishes that are vegetarian or don't use a beef base. The service was nice and the food was out within 15 mins, although our noodles arrived before our lamb skewer appetizers. The noodles were nice and warm and despite the spice logo next to the dish on the menu, I was surprised about how perfect the spice was in the dish. It was not covered with pepper corn or too spicy to consume. In fact it was quite mild but extremely flavorful. I would definitely order again. The lamb skewers came out nice and warm and only having 4 made me wish I ordered more. Overall, I was surprised by the level of flavor and mild but tasty spice levels on the dishes here. I haven't written a review here which is surprising because this is the one place my partner and I go at least once a month. A reliable spot that has delicious food!! We normally do pickup/takeout option, but we've dined in several times before too. It's funny how quiet it can be inside because everyone is so busy chowing down and concentrating on their yummy food. They serve lemon water too which is nice. When doing a takeout order, it takes no more than 15 minutes (sometimes as fast as like 6minutes) for our orders to be ready... they're FAST. The beef noodle soups are always great and very comforting. The apps are good too; a good amt of things have some spice, so just be aware. We've gotten the eggplant and cucumbers as apps which are great for sharing. The chicken is good too and a hefty portion that can certainly be shared with two people as well. The "Chinese hamburgers" are also good - I preferred the stewed pork the best as the others are cooked spicy. Our most recent favorite entree is the beef stew with tomato. I've passed by this place numerous times since it is near work. It's hard to spot since there's scaffolding on top of the restaurant. I decided to take out and not dine in even though there's plenty of indoor seating. There's plenty of options depending on what you like to eat, but I believe they're known for their noodles. I ordered the Zha Jiang noodles to go. It's dark bean paste with diced up pork and other ingredients. You can choose how you would like your noodles, I chose regular style. A great appetizer; next time I would probably order two of these Oxtail stew--this dish was part of their daily special and it was our favorite dish of the night. It was a very generous portion of oxtail stew with potatoes and corn. The oxtail was so tender and delicious, and the sauce perfectly enhanced the meat. When we went, the restaurant wasn't too crowded, and the staff were so nice. We were so comfortable and had a great time dining here. Absolutely one of my favorite places to come for lunch when I don't want to cook while working from home. I've never had an issue being seated even during prime lunch time, not because it's not good, but because the food comes out so fast they're usually able to move customers along pretty quickly. Menu has enough variety while being simple, though I always order the signature because it is DELICIOUS. The wide noodles are the perfect texture and size for me (not too absurdly wide but still chewy) and I absolutely love the huge amounts of cilantro they put in that gives the soup a bite of flavor -- doesn't make it feel too oily, as a lot of spicy Chinese soups do. read more
