It's been a while since I last came to Dun Huang, so was excited to try it here especially as it's a location I've never been to. It wasn't too busy when I came here at 7:30, but more and more people came over time. I had their braised beef noodle soup and their Chinese burger. Service was really fast, especially the noodle soup! I think I got it in less than 5 minutes so they definitely prep it before hand. I still really enjoy the dish. The burger did take a bit longer me, probably 10 mins or so and I got the lamb. They did say lamb maybe a bit spicy, but it wasn't too bad for me.

Cheap eats. We were heading to the airport and stopped here to grab lunch when they opened. It was cold outside and they were not quite open yet. They let us wait inside which was nice. Cucumbers have a slight spicy to them. So because for kids. Everything was good. You can choose your noodles which is what we love.

Everything hit the spot for me at this location. The soup was such a comforting hug in the cold weather. Right when I walked in the first thing I noticed was how clean and spacious everything was, friendly attentive staff. My party ordered the beef skewers the beef noodle soups and thinly potato sliced salad. I LOVE the thinly sliced potato salad. I would also point out that I enjoy the East coast locations better than the west coast locations of Dun Huang.

I got takeout from Dun Huang on a Saturday evening as I was looking for a good noodle soup in the area. Their most popular dish is the #1 signature beef noodles. I noticed they had a second menu with new items, including a spicy Mala noodle. The service was good, the hostess took our takeout order and let us make modifications. You get to choose your noodle size. The place had a few tables full and a few empty, it would be great to walk in here for dinner. All indoor seating vibes. The mala noodle was so spicy, and it was difficult for me to finish! I love spicy food but this one was no joke. It was good though, I think I would go back but order their signature with chili oil on the side to control the spice level

Dun Huang is a modern, cute, casual space that offers a to-the-point menu, very good size and portions, and will not break the bank in nyc. The stars of the menu are the noodle dishes with some ability to customize noodle size. There are also a few other chinese classic entree options as well. I ordered the Zha Jian Noodles, the noodles were super bouncy and chewy which I loved. The sauce was savory and filling and paired well with the fresh cucumbers. A very simple dish that hit the spot but not a super strong flavor overall. Service was super fast (received noodles almost immediately after ordering) and friendly.

The perfect meal on a cold and rainy day. It's quick, affordable, and consistent. You really can't go wrong with any of the noodles. I got the Signature Lanzou Beef Noodles ($13) and the Lamb Dry Noodles ($13). Both were delicious but i'd say the dry noodles were a standout for me because it was so flavorful and had a good kick to it. I also love that you can pick out the type of noodle you want for each dish! There's a good amount of seating but I could see how it could get packed pretty quick. Highly recommend takeout if you're coming during a lunch or dinner rush. I did feel like the service was a bit rushed even though it was pretty empty when I went, to the point where they wanted to clear our plates before we were even done.

Solid food. Functional space. No frills really but overall it's clean and comfortable. Service is quick and efficient. Food skews spicy. That should be obvious. But there's complexity underneath the spice. And I love how lamb is a big part of the menu. Mutton was nice and gamey. Spiced beef, mouth watering chicken and pan fried noodles were all done well. Will have to come back for the Lanzhou noodles.

Yelp tip to check in and show the waitress for an eggplant salad!! I really wanted noodles and Dun Huang was a convenient spot close to Grand Central, but away with some tourists. It was super open around 2pm on a weekend, and service was very quick. The broth left more to be desired, but is a quick and easy spot to grab a bite. I just got the langzhou la mien which was decent, but not great.

This was a cute little noodle place with heartwarming soup. I wish I added more things to it cuz the baseline is actually not that much food--just radish and some meat. The soups were pretty much ready immediately, which means if you're hungry, they definitely got you with fast service.

(Overall: B) - Danhuang seems to be quite a reasonable option for relatively affordable and quick Chinese eats with a modest interior. The food seems to be flavorful and authentic, and would recommend overall. (Eggplant Salad: B) - The cut side of the eggplant is able to absorb the flavors quite nicely; however, unlike a cucumber or some other vegetable that is able to maintain a crunch. Nevertheless, this is a simple dish that works quite nicely as an appetizer. (Mouthwatering Chicken: A) - Flavorful chicken that has depth of flavor built from both the poaching liquid and the sauce on top. (Sweet and Sour Ribs: C) - These ribs develop some pleasant flavors, but for some reason these riblets do not have much meat attached to the bone. (Lanzhou Noodle Soup: B) - The noodles have beautifully developed flavor and pair well with the soothing soup that is primarily white pepper and msg. The few slices of meat and daikon are tender and reasonable given the pricepoint. -- Food: +1 Presentation: E Price: E Atmosphere: E Service: E Menu: +1 Overall: +2 B Insta/Beli: @amei_eats

Overall, I was really happy with the food although I got the dry noodles and I didn't realize they'd be all stuck together in a clump. But once you stir them up a bit and get the oil mixed in it's fine. My only other issue is I'm not great with chopsticks and all the lamb fell to the bottom but that's my issue. I should ask for a fork. The service was excellent. Overall good experience.

One of my favorite Chinese spots for some quick and delicious homestyle noodles! My go-to order is always the N1 Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup, which always hits the spot no matter the time of day, but hits especially well when the air is brisk outside. I'll sometimes add a Chinese Hamburger if I'm particularly hungry, which pairs flawlessly with the noodle soup. Service is probably the quickest and most attentive I have seen in NYC, and prices are still reasonable. 5 stars!

I've passed by this place numerous times since it is near work. It's hard to spot since there's scaffolding on top of the restaurant. I decided to take out and not dine in even though there's plenty of indoor seating. There's plenty of options depending on what you like to eat, but I believe they're known for their noodles. I ordered the Zha Jiang noodles to go. It's dark bean paste with diced up pork and other ingredients. You can choose how you would like your noodles, I chose regular style. It would've been different if I had it at the restaurant as the noodles wouldn't have been stuck together and harder to eat. I would like to go to the restaurant and dine in next time.

Got off the E train and when we looked for Chinese food, this place popped up with good reviews and it was just a short walk from where we got off the train. My buddies ordered the special lunches and we also got two types of xlb's, beef chow fun, and some fried dumplings. The special lunches come with a little fried rice, cold garlic flavored noodle, choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup, and main side. My buddies all enjoyed their meals. The beef chow fun was also really good and beef was nice and tender. The xiao long baos were excellent and is comparable to any place in California like DTF. Nice and juicy and great with some ginger, soy sauce, and spicy chili. Friendly service and food comes out pretty quickly. Credit card is accepted. Bathroom was also very clean, which is sometimes rare in some Chinese restaurants I have been to. If you're looking for a good Chinese meal, stop here when you're in the Chelsea area.

I hadn't been to EDH in a while and was happy to see they do have later hours (with a smaller late night menu). The place was pretty busy at 10:00 PM last Saturday, with a wide range of diners, which is good for business. The food though, at least that night, was really disappointing. My friend had the chicken dumplings. He said they were okay. I thought they were overcooked. My steamed shrimp shumai were fine, but steamed, they didn't have much flavour. The edamame, on the other hand, had way too much when it should have almost none. I don't know if it was excess salt, MSG or something else, but not good. I should have sent them back. I hope this was just an off night for the kitchen.

The pacing of the meal for the quantity of food received seemed very rushed, and we didn't really have a chance to relax and enjoy any of the courses. However, the quality of the experience was a complete disaster particularly for the price. Clearly, the packed restaurant would disagree, but for the four of us anyway, we would not return. It started with the check in process at what felt like a long hotel front desk with multiple, self important hosts and hostesses overseeing your entrance to the cavernous bar/waiting area. One problem is the noise is so deafening that you can't really hear what they say to you but we check in a few minutes early and waited obediently in the bar area chatting. After about 30 minutes (15 after our reservation time), and watching numerous parties large and small who arrived after us be seated by the hostesses wandering through the dimly lit space who peer quizzically and ask your name, my husband went to ask for an update. (We joked that those vibrating lighted buzzers alerting when your table was ready would have been super helpful, but it was amusing to watch while we waited). It was clear they somehow lost track of us as she had him repeatedly spell our (not unusual) name. Anyway, after that, within 10 minutes after that we were taken downstairs to our seats (but not before standing awkwardly in the large dining area near packed tables waiting while our table was cleaned). Server with a heavy accent was kind and mostly helpful so none of this is on him. The busser who managed to spill half a pitcher of cold water on my husband's back, soaking his shirt and jacket and barely apologizing, is a whole other story. We managed to get a glass of his mediocre Cabernet comped for the experience. If I sound annoyed, I guess I still am. I had high hopes for a fun and tasty experience in a cool part of the city and it just wasn't.

Then we got a handful of apps - everyone else swore by all the ones they'd had - but I just tried the Salt & Pepper Shrimp and... sweet baby Jesus, this little plate had a wicked amount of flavor from every angle.  "Aggressively seasoned" might be an understatement.  Wild. Onto the mains and I ventured towards their Spicy Drunken Noodle (my go-to whenever I'm hitting a Thai restaurant on my home turf) and... yeah, you probably guessed it - incredible. Not the biggest portion but they made every single component sing with flavor. With so much going on - of course I needed to indulge with another drink (hey, I wasn't driving!). There were six of us, it came to about $100 a person... welcome to NYC. But we did get a wide selection of plates/food and those two drinks accounted for about $40 of my tab. (And you'll never see such a heavy wine pour at a restaurant... they filled the glass almost to the rim - which was not even something I'd do for myself when I'm home.) Definitely recommended.

I was told that it isn't always open, but if it was, I could certainly have a table there. When we arrived on the night of our dinner, I asked about the back room and was told that it was closed. And indeed, there was a rope up separating it from the front dining room. There was a table of people sitting there, but I was told that was management having a meeting. I asked when the room might be opened because we were willing to wait. I was told that there was no way for them to know. The front room was already full, by the way, except for the table that we seated at. Within 10 minutes, the back room opened and people started to go in. When I asked about this, I was told that it was a private party. About a half hour later I got up to use the restroom and had a look in the back. They were people seated at tables all around the room. It was obvious that none of them knew each other. It wasn't a private party. I didn't bother to ask about this because at that point appetizers had arrived and it was too late to move to another table. I was very baffled by the staff's reluctance to seat us at a requested table, which would've been very easy to do. As a result, I don't think I'll be coming back to Chi or recommending it to friends.
