Our meal began with brussels sprouts tempura -- a revelation! Crunchy and salty and nutty. Then came sushi, all presented in unique porcelain holders-- so original. Four of us shared two ginormous bowls of ramen (tuna and duck!) -- more surprises. Dessert was sorbet, a pleasure to the eye. Endless tea helped to wash down all the memorable dishes.

It's a pleasure to dine at a real Japanese restaurant with chef owner pleasure conversation about the food and the beautiful pottery that Shuya makes. Definitely worth a visit!

Not too many places in the city that specialize in Tsukemen first! Definitely was happy with my visit to Shuya with their duck tsukemen. Noodles were hand made and thick, firm, and chewy. The dipping sauce was not too salty and quite flavorful. My favorite was the duck. I don't normally get duck, but it seemed to be their signature so gave it a try. Duck was rich and juicy. Would definitely come back. Place was nice and intimate. Service was kind.

Shuya is the perfect ramen spot in Midtown. The food is consistently delicious. We can eat our way through the menu. Every type of ramen Chef prepares is fantastic. The Brussels sprouts, fried chicken and temaki (all of them!) are delicious.

Hidden away in Murray Hill is a mellow ramen joint that serves subtle versions of what we know as ramen. No reservations needed on an early Friday evening. The place was calm, half full, and exuded peace in a city of noise. Maybe don't sit at the bar for ramen if you plan on gossiping with your best friend because the servers and chefs will very likely hear your conversation. Aside from that, our meal was pretty decent and started with happy hour handrolls. Blanking on what type of fish they used (Amberjack?) but it was fresh and good. For entrees, my friend and I got the assari yuzu shio ramen and wagyu & black truffle ramen, respectively. I preferred my wagyu ramen which came with tender pieces of seared and well seasoned wagyu and a flavorful broth that wasn't heavy. The assari yuzu shio ramen was decent, but not my taste preference. The clams that were in the ramen were also tough and unpleasant to eat. Would I recommend this type of ramen as a pre-drinking meal? Probably not. But I can see myself eating here when I need something light but filling.

This place is a hidden gem. My friend and I had lunch here. They have a small lunch menu and lunch specials. I like that they have a small menu, that way they can focus on quality. Its japanese owned. The decor is very nice. It's filled with traditional Japanese art. Its green and has a lot of wood elements. My favorite color is green so I love it. This place is so clean also. They have a QR code in which you could either place the order yourself or have the waiter place it. I ordered the duck tsukemen. I usually don't like dipped noodles because its usually bland. It was a hot day and I wanted something cool. However, this was full of flavor. I highly recommend this. My friend ordered the soup ramen and she said it was good too. We also ordered chicken wings which I wasnt a big fan of. It was very crispy but pricey even with lunch special pricing.

Came here for dinner a short while back and loved it! The ambience is nice and the service is fast - you have a QR code at your table and you can place your order, add items, and pay your tab all in one go. At the cost of being fast, though, we did feel a little rushed - we had a little less than 2 hours for our table which felt a little tight but maybe it was just a busy Friday night. In terms of food, highly recommend the wings, a hand roll (they seem to have two daily specials to choose from), and the shoyu ramen but there's many options that all look delightful. Also highly recommend the yuzu drink - tart and refreshing - as well as the pudding for dessert. I'll certainly be coming back here in the future!

We were a little nervous coming for our 5:30 dinner reservation when we entered the restaurant and found it completely empty. However, by the end of the meal, there were 5 other tables (the entire space only has about 9 tables), and the restaurant was lively. Our ramen was so delicious - I ordered the bowl with pork shoulder that was out of this world. Chewy, savory and with strong umami flavor, I would get the dish over and over again. They made my picky husband's meal perfectly as ordered which's is rare. Would highly recommend this place, especially on a frigid New York night.

True Japanese gem. Tried a few that were mentioned in the reviews by others and did not disappoint. Blue fin tuna w avocado 5:5 -- The scallion broke down the acidity of the sauce and blended the pieces of blue fin more flavorfully. Keep in mind this is blue fin tuna, not fatty tuna. Fried chicken 6/5 -- Yes, if there was a 6. Very tasty and well cooked - had a side of not very spicy sauce. Good portion. Flavored with salt, pepper and tangy sweet chili Thai sauce. Although the salt was is a bit too salty for my tongue, but will be excellent w beer/sake or rice. Salmon with Apple yuzu 4/5 -- It was good but the amount of apple yuzu sauce added too much acidity in enhancing the flavor of the raw salmon. Though salmon was fresh, the sauce broke down the salmon a bit too much for me. Served with grounded pepper. Will definitely return to try other dishes for dinner.

Nice place, very relaxing and cozy. Great quality. I usually struggle to find a good tasty veggie ramen. This one was very unique, a good variety of vegetables.

Shuya is hands down the best ramen I've had in the city, especially if you prefer ramen with a lighter broth with thinner noodles. I got the limited time menu item, red snapper lemon shio ramen. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the lemon in the broth was so light and refreshing. The noodles were cooked just right. The portion size is a little small compared to a standard bowl of ramen, but it was enough for me. The attention to detail in the bowl was amazing, and the handmade ramen bowls were so cute. The staff were lively and the owner was chatting with a customer sitting at the counter. I will be bringing back friends and family next time, maybe to try the dipping ramen next.

The service is 10/10! Upon entering in my puffy winter coat, the waiter offered to take and hang it up. This was great since the chairs were rather small and my long coat would drag on the ground if hung on the back. He also bought me cold and hot water and refilled both without me asking a couple times! Food came out quickly as well. I got the shoyu ramen and my friend got yuzu shio. The portion size was filling and not overly so, just the right amount of chewy noodles with a good bite on them and a flavorful clean broth. Most times I get shoyu ramen, the pork is way too fatty for me to enjoy but the pork here was fairly lean which was nice. The yuzu shio broth had a light citrusy taste. Both were perfect for a cold winter day. Prices were reasonable at under $20 a bowl!

Ate here today on a warm Sunday afternoon by myself. I had brought and ate the fried chicken wings and wagyu ramen that it tasted really good, mouth watering and delicious. The service there was attentive and friendly and thanks to my server Jay for making me feel welcome. The ambiance was felt so good and relaxing. I couldn't agree more about it. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :D

Once you're at your assigned cubbyhole, you can hang your coat up on the wall behind you and fill up your water cup at the machine also behind you. You don't even see the face of the person who brings out the ramen which gives the whole process a mysterious bank teller vibe. With all this, the classic tonkotsu ramen ($23) with slender noodles nearly gets overshadowed, but don't fret since it's fantastic. I believe when you're done, you just get up and leave. Surprisingly, one of the instructional posters does not go into this.

When you walk into the restaurant, you pre-order at the touchscreen to the right of the entrance and later when you're seated you give the order receipts to the server at your window. The food at this location is obviously going to be pricier than it is in Japan (came out to around $60 for 2 people), but it is SO worth it as you can't get Ichiran anywhere else besides in Japan.

The waitress didn't help us at all when ordering. We weren't bowled over with the food, although it was noted the meat in the ramen was high level. It hit the spot but I will try other places in the search for our "return forever" ramen place.

There are so many good ramen places in NYC, this Chinese Ramen place has lot of room to improve.

Absolutely. If you want a clean broth, this is the place to go.

I did like they were playing Justin Bieber and the decor was cute. Looks like a quick spot for ramen and late night chill vibes, at 10:30pm on a Sunday night it definitely had a younger crowd.

I had mine with a poached egg, which blended in seamlessly with all the savory textures and flavors. While the bowl seemed almost overwhelmingly large, it was easy to enjoy in full because of how delicious it was. I've had a fair share of ramen dishes, and IPPUDO is right up there with the best.
