Went for a quick bite on a Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. The service was very quick and attentive. I loved the theme throughout the restaurant, super cute! Food came out in probably 10 minutes or so, definitely helped that it was not too busy. The Rock N Roll is my favorite! The Kani Salad was bigger than expected so great value. Will definitely be returning if I am ever in the area.

The food is great. I love going here during my lunch break. It's perfect to call beforehand and pick up because they're usually always ready. I've had 2 inches or maybe three where I did go and order and let's just say only one of those times I received it within 10 minutes. The ambience is very nice. It's dim lit with wonderful Japanese theme things around and I love the anime the Pokémon as well as seeing Goku just hanging around the shop. It was very nice, especially since I am familiar with a little bit of Dragon Ball Z it was very refreshing to see during my work hours.

Solid casual spot for traditional rolls and sushi spot offerings. Everything is decently priced. Walked in on a weekend late afternoon and the place was starting to get packed towards the evening. We ordered a few items off their Happy Hour menu + a few off the regular menu. HH weekdays are 4-7 pm + weekends 5-7 pm, FYI! What we got: - Crispy Rice: Great bite-sized pieces; filling! - Gyoza / Kani Salad: Good, standard bites - Sex on the Beach Roll / Rainbow Roll: Both were tasty with fresh fish! The fish:rice ratio were on point as well! - Shrimp & Veg Tempura: Crispy, fresh, and delicious. Overall, I'd deem this as a reliable neighborhood spot. Would definitely recommend + return for when I'm in the mood for casual sushi!

Great service. Very friendly staff. Attentive with water refilling and order details. One of the rolls we order was a salmon cucumber. When the rolls came, there came a salmon avocado roll instead of a salmon cucumber. When she introduced each roll, she said salmon cucumber from her memory whilst looking at the salmon avocado and caught that the roll was incorrect. I don't know if she would've remembered if it was busier (there were only 2 occupied tables when we visited), but that attentiveness and memory was impressive. The sushi itself wasn't bad. I wouldn't recommend the raw fish rolls, nigri, or sashimi because the spicy yellowtail roll and salmon cucumber roll were oddly tasteless. Usually there probably is some vinegar-y seasoning in sushi rice that I wouldn't even think to note, but the plain fish rolls were just so tasteless, unlike how the same rolls would taste at other places. The special rolls were good though, probably because they had more sauce. The dragon roll and rainbow rolls we got were good, although the rainbow roll did mostly taste like the snowcrab mayo mix filling, which I don't mind. The Sushi Sandwich Roll was very filling. It had a heavy mayo taste, and the texture was all mush. I feel like some crunch texture would've helped, maybe from some raw veggies. The amount feels like it was two rolls in one, so for the price it's great. I probably would get it again if I was really hungry! The sushi roll pieces were not small, and I like that the filling to rice ratio was like 80-20. I really appreciate them not using a ton of rice and not skimping on the filling. I also like that this place uses a crab and mayo mix in their rolls rather than just a stick of imitation crab. Most places in NYC / the East Coast I see just use an imitation cran stick. Overall, not a bad little sushi restaurant! The interior is cozy, and I'd love to return to try their many other rolls!

This spot is always going viral on social media for how affordable their sushi is and I finally paid them a visit and I agree the hype is real! I really enjoyed their sushi and I haven't seen a spot that has such a great price for crispy rice. Happy hour here is top notch and includes weekends too. I started with a Shirley Temple which was standard and $5. For happy hour bites, I got the Crispy Rice w. Spicy Tuna. Crispy Rice w. Spicy Salmon, and Pork Gyoza. The crispy rice bites are so flavorful and there are 6 in an order. $8 for that is insanely good. The gyoza dumplings were also juicy with a nice fried bottom. As for the sushi, the quality of fish they use is amazing and they don't skimp. The Kani Salad was fresh and the Rainbow Roll and Sex On The Beach Roll both had lots of filling and a good fish to rice ratio. I also tried their Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura. Their tempura is classic and simple, with a nice side of white rice and comes with soup or salad. Service was good. The waiters kept coming to our table to ask if we needed anything or wanted to order more. It's also quite spacious inside. The sushi bar is towards the back and they have one restroom.

Amazing spot for happy hour conveniently located near Penn station. Super friendly and quick service. I will definitely be returning!!

A very solid neighborhood sushi restaurant in Murray Hill. Ordered the Hot Girl Roll ($17) and the Godzilla Roll ($16.50). Both were very solid, although I probably would have been fine with just ordering one or the other as I was super stuffed after consuming both. Would come back again in the future.

Came here with a friend on a weekday evening, and didn't have to wait! Their happy hour drink and food deals are quite food. We got the spicy tuna crispy rice, which was a good portion but not my favorite crispy rice. The rice was very hard and a bit stale. For our mains, we shared the yellowtail jalapeño roll, salmon avocado, and tiger roll. The rice to fish ratio was CHEFS KISS - better than most fancier sushi places I've been. The flavors weren't anything too special, but great value. Highly recommend for a casual dinner! I also see they have good lunch deals, so I will be returning.

Bit of a rough review I'm afraid. 5/5 decor, friendly staff and available tables at peak time on Friday night. Quick with the tap water which I appreciate 4/5 Only one bathroom but clean and sink outside so you don't spend as much time inside the bathroom. No towels or hand dryer I assume that's an oversight on a busy Friday night. 3/5 house salad is fine, miso soup is fine. Not good not bad just average 2/5 the sushi and sashimi were not good, they weren't actively gooey or rancid, but they were the worst non lethal sushi I've had. I have had sushi that was 1/5 I sent it back to the kitchen. this was just like eating rubbery air, zero taste, nothing good but again it wasn't rancid. If you can't do sushi, what kind of sushi restaurant are you ? 1/5 nothing this bad Overall going to give it a 3/5, the price was low for nyc sushi, maybe it's farmed? Maybe it's frozen? Maybe it's the worst cut, but it's filling and priced low and they sat us right away. $68 for 2 of us and that included a 20% tip. We did not finish the sushi or the sashimi, hopefully someone in the kitchen sent it to a good home.

Sushi was pretty decent. Wife and I stopped by for a snack while we were in midtown NYC. Jimmy was amazing and super attentive. Appreciated his upbeat vibes and attention to our needs . Dimly lit and anime themed but I didn't mind.

Loved the variety of options for the sushi available. The sushi was affordable and the protein to rice ratio was very commendable. The sandwich was also very innovative but delicious. The staff were very polite and food came in very quickly. The atmosphere very cozy, I was seated in a booth. Overall, great experience.

Great service with amusing servers at Hamachi 34 in Murray Hill, Manhattan, NYC. Minutes walk from Herald Square and Penn Station. Happy hour daily till 7 pm. Got a Yuzu and Matcha IPA on the happy hour specials. I got the Sapporo and my friend got the yuzu. Sushi, tempura, seaweed salad was super filling.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. Now, having said that although the food was decent, there were a couple of questionable choices in the overall presentation and plating and the sauces that accompany the black cod bento box I ordered, which did not actually come in a box. Everything is brought out piecemeal so you don't get an actual meal before you, but a lot of little plates brought out at different times, kinda like the Japanese equivalent of Tapas. We have been to this location twice, hoping the first time was a fluke, and trying to give them a chance only for the second time to be worse. The waitstaff is entirely disengaged from the customers. They rush you through the order process and don't explain any of the menu offerings, such as what is the difference between the different platter options. When they do come over, you are greeted with the sweetness and warmth of an unemotionally flat "What do you want?" After you get your food, no one comes over to refill water and cups are initially filled halfway with too much ice. No one comes over to remove plates afterward, and they definitely show no interest in finding out if you are enjoying your meal in the least. The booth we were sat at had not been cleaned after the last party's use so there was sauce all over, and it got on the back of my pants, which I later discovered while walking home...the joy. After eating comes the best part, they come over with these tablets outlining your check on the screen. Meanwhile, the tablets are strapped to their bodies the entire time. They don't allow you to scrutinize the charges in peace, no, they stand there impatiently for the duration either swerving from side to side of tapping their foot signaling discomfort that you're taking way too long. The funny part is the straps have clips to remove the tablets so it's not like it's impossible to leave the tablet and come back shortly. The whole process feels very rushed and pressurized for you to tip with one of the predetermined button selections, which start at 25%. Ummm, service sucked so no, we're definitely NOT starting there. I guess now we're both disappointed. Eventually, you get no paper receipt for your records even if you ask for it to be printed. And the whole time, the waitstaff is with you judging you on your tipping and not even being graceful enough to restrain their reaction. So no, not going back, and definitely would not recommend as a place to have a good time. Now, if you're looking for an uncomfortable experience served by someone that completely ignores you during your entire time there and expects an exorbitant tip to boot, then yes, this is the place for you!

Do of course I use Yelp to find something that catches my eye close by where we need to be. I found umami Sushi. We usually can't go wrong with Japanese food or sushi. We had no problems finding the place. The description said it was a small restaurant and as we entered the dining area was very small. Our hotel room was probably bigger. That doesn't bother me especially if we get there, there tables for us to sit comfortably. I also trust my judgment when I find a place that seems to be popular by the locals. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. We were the only ones there, but for some reason we bring good vibes to the places we eat because not too long after we placed our order, people started coming in, to the point that the small dining room was packed. I love Omakase style Service and what we ordered was a sashimi/sushi platter for three and two special rolls. I thought I got to choose the rolls but even that was chefs choice. I was just a bit worried that they would give us the cheap rolls like spicy tuna or California roll. The platter came out and it was beautifully prepared with a piece of sashimi for each of us and the rolls the chefs chose, ended up being two of my favorite rolls. The types of fish they selected were also great quality fish. We were lucky to have placed our order before the crowd came in our we might have had to wait a while because how they prepared it would have taken some time. The service was just right. Because they got busy right away, the waitress was forced to attend to everyone and couldn't really socialize with us. In fact when we finished our platter we were debating what we wanted for dessert but the waitress didn't even ask us and instead she just brought us the bill, so we said to ourselves, "I guess we're not having dessert here."
