    E.A.K Ramen

The E.A.K ramen tastes extremely bland and the Zebra ramen tastes like burnt garlic. Underwhelming to say the least.

I was in the city, and wanted a quick bite to eat, so I dropped by EAK Ramen. It was not crowded, and I was able to get served within 10 minutes. The tables, floors, and bathrooms were all very clean. This will be short and sweet. I ordered the Shrimp Bao. It was very good. The shrimp was crispy and tasty, but I think there should be 2 per order. One was not enough. 5/5 for taste 1/5 for quantity. I also ordered the Oh So Hot ! Miso. This consisted of pork and chicken broth, spicy ground chicken, spinach, bean sprouts, cabbage, and nori. I ordered it spicy, but I should have gotten it hot instead. I like spicy food, and the spicy needed more kick to me. But it was delicious. 5/5 Til we eat again...

    OH SO HOT miso ramen

EAK Delicious ramen!! I had the oh so hot miso ramen and I polished it off. The noodles to broth ratio was perfect and the tonktsu was melt in your mouth. My only complaint was that it wasn't spicy enough. I asked for the spiciest level and I felt it could use more chili. However, Japanese food isn't typically spicy so I'm not too cut up. My friends got the yakiniku bowl and the zebra ramen, and were kind enough to let me try a bit for the review. The yakiniku was good, but just your average bowl. I think it could have had more meat for both of my friends to eat. The zebra ramen was also fabulous! I could really taste the butter in it. I also appreciated how this place did not skimp on the veggies and meat. That's a big pet peeve of mine. Service was also great and the ambience was lovely! I enjoyed the all wood decor and the adorable signs. Next time I'd like to try their happy hour menu! They have a toki highball for 6 dollars!

I came here for their dinner service and thought that it was solid! Located in Hell's Kitchen, this Japanese spot offers a variety of Japanese dishes from sashimi to rice bowls to ramen to other small bites. Service here was fairly quick. We ordered their takoyaki, spicy fried rice, mapo ramen, and their zebra ramen. Everything was pretty good! The takoyaki was crispy and had big pieces of octopus in it (I just wish they also added bonito flakes to the takoyaki), and the spicy fried rice was full of flavor. Both of our ramen choices were full of depth and great for a cold day. Not a bad spot for some casual Japanese food!

For a ramen bowl that is named after their restaurant, this ramen is so boring. Their EAK shoyu ramen is Shoyu broth, noodles, seaweed, spinach, and chashu. It is exactly as described on the menu, but I regret investing $17 + tax on this basic bowl that represents their restaurant by name. I feel confident that I can find more in a ramen for the same price. In my craving for ramen, this review is to remind me that I will not be coming back. My apologies for forgetting to take a picture of the menu, but the ramen section was not very impressive. There is vegan options. The service and environment is perfectly fine. I feel well respected and in a comfy space. EAK gets a 2 stars on my review due to its disappointing bowl at a price that overrepresents its value. While the shoyu broth was good, I feel that I could have had a more interesting bowl elsewhere

EAK is conveniently tucked inside Moynihan Train Hall, which makes it an easy stop if you're passing through or killing time before a train. I've been here twice now, and both visits were... fine. The first time, I ordered ramen. It wasn't bad, but something about the noodles felt a little off... texture-wise, they didn't quite hit the springy, satisfying bite I expect from good ramen. This time around, I went with the chicken curry instead. The flavor was decent, but the chicken katsu came out uncut, which made it awkward to eat with the provided plastic utensils and chopsticks. It's a small thing, but it matters, especially in a busy transit setting. That said, the staff deserve credit. Everyone was cool, chill, and efficient. Service was quick both times, which is exactly what you want in a train hall. Convenient and serviceable. But for the price and the setting, I keep wanting just a bit more polish and flavor to make it worth a repeat detour rather than a default option.

E.A.K is the best Ramen hands down. This area has many options but for some reason the aesthetic of this place caught my eye. It was packed with people and we still decided to wait just cause I was really in the mood for ramen. The minute we were seated I had to take a photo because I felt the place was so beautifully detailed that it made me feel comfortable just being there. I wish I would've asked our server for her name cause she was so friendly and made the best recommendations. The first ramen we ordered was the spicy (mild) which was delicious. Full of flavor and literally the best egg I have ever had in my life (no joke). Noodles were perfect, not too big or too thin. The food was so good that we went ahead and ordered a third bowl of soup which I didn't even think we could fit but it was soooooo worth it and we definitely ate it the next day. I will be returning here they are awesome in every way and I'm so happy I found this place cause I don't know if I'll be exploring other ramen spots for a while. 100000% recommend.

EAK Ramen was super good! I love Shoyu ramen the most, and theirs lived up to my own standards. I like a cloudy, flavorful broth, and not all Shoyu ramen has that, but EAK did! We also tried the fried rice, which was served tableside in a hot pan, so we got to watch our server stir the egg, which was fun! It was on the less expensive for New York, and it was quiet enough for conversation. Very lively restaurant though. Service was attentive. I'm definitely adding this to my list of spots to take people before a Broadway show!

I just just went into this restaurant have no expectations and it was a complete hit .The veggie ramen was more on the clear side so it was very light and flavourful. The gave generous bowl of extra brother just $3 .The restaurant interiors were mand edgy. Service was quick.

The server Elvis was courteous. I enjoyed the Ramen, pork/chicken for the most part. I wanted it to be better than anything I've had before but it was good similar to others. I was able to eat and have a long chat with a friend for a long while and it was a cozy and upbeat environment.

This ramen restaurant I've must of walked past it so many times before. They are right in the middle of Restaurant Row on 46th Street between 8th & 9th Avenues. E.A.K. Ramen restaurant was pretty busy and there was a family checking out the menu before walking in. It was a solo dinner night and was easy to get seated just for 1 pax. I could already tell that this restaurant must be good because I could hear 2 tables away from me speaking in full on conversation in Japanese. What a good decision to try this place out for my first time. Was first offered a glass of ice water, instead I asked the server if I could just have hot water instead. She served it in a copper cup! Almost made me want to order a Moscow Mule, but I'll save my alcohol appetite for another occasion. Quickly ordered an appetizer, pizza gyoza. Then had to decide which ramen to chose from. Picked the Oh So Hot Miso Tonkotsu Ramen, but asked for mild please. Have your stomach ready to enjoy some good dashi, fresh and hot gyoza, and great customer service. This place is great, I'd recommend it to anyone craving Japanese Ramen! Just a few blocks from Times Square, right in the middle of Hell's Kitchen, the price is right, the atmosphere is fun, cool neon lights, full bar too! Oh and very clean all-gender restrooms. Happy Pride Month!

This is a cute restaurant sucked away in house kitchen. The prices are decent. There are quite a different variety of options along with Ramen, small plates, cold, and hot plates, and even sushi. The staff was very friendly and didn't bother too much, but made sure that our drinks were always full. There was music in the background at a decent level, although the place can get kind of loud because it was completely full. Overall, a good time and worth checking out.

    Rishmithaa S.

Nothing to complain about the ramen but there was just a terrible smell in there. Almost like tee sewage. And I don't know where the smell was coming from but I'm sure everyone there smelt it. Also our server forgot the additions we made to our ramen.

We started with the Mix Tartare, where the combination of tuna, salmon and yellowtail was fresh and flavorful, and the crispy wonton chips added the perfect crunch. The Truffle Kani Roll was a favorite -- creamy and flavorful with avocado, plenty of crab on top, and a subtle truffle flavor. It was a little different from the sushi rolls we usually order and definitely worth trying. We also had the shrimp katsu, which was perfectly crispy on the outside with big, juicy pieces of shrimp inside. The creamy dipping sauce paired really well with it. For ramen, we tried the Shoyu Ramen, which was warm and comforting with a flavorful broth, tender chashu, bamboo shoots, scallions and a soft-boiled egg. It was a nice addition to all the smaller dishes we shared. Overall, everything tasted fresh, was beautifully presented, and we really enjoyed being able to try a variety of dishes. A great Japanese spot in NYC that I'd happily come back to!

As a fan of all fish roe and especially mentaiko, the cream and fish roe balance was well done. Loved the addition of shiso leaves to add a bit of herbaciousness to cut the richness of the cream. The udon was nicely cooked al dente and remained chewy throughout. Yakitori options range from chicken, beef, and veggie options. The chicken meatball was flavorful. Although I wish the chicken thigh and beef tongue were a little more tender, I did like their seasoning. The enoki pork wrap came with a soy/ginger sauce which served as a nice appetizer. Their smooth chawanmushi featured additional ikura and seaweed which amplified the umaminess; however because of the steam/heat, kinda overcooked the ikura a little bit, so be sure to eat it quick! The tartare combined a bunch of different fresh fish with some tamago and tossed in a light soy sauce. I liked how the wasabi wasn't too strong or overpowering but still present enough to preserve the freshness of the fish. The corn ribs were good but nothing crazy or different from other places. The space is cute and cozy with lots of natural lighting. They have two floors, an area with bar seating, and upstairs with more tables/nook area for more privacy. Staff were polite. Food came out quick on a weekend.

Half of their menu is vegan-friendly. Spoiler alert: they will open a permanent location in June/July! *Chicken Karaage*** This chicken karaage was TO DIE FOR -- the caramelized sugar lemon on the side took it to a whole new level. The boneless chicken was so tender and juicy with a thin deep-fried batter. The meat was extremely refreshing after squeezing the lemon and dipping in honey mustard sauce. * Handrolls - Salmon Yuzu, Tuna, Yellowtail** Y'all need to order their handrolls! The sashimi piece was thick and long enough to cover the vinegar rice. It would be a pain to pick which handroll I like more. They layered up the flavors of each piece with house sauces, shiso leaf, fried leek, avocado etc. Wish they would add a handroll set in the future. *Pork Cutlet Curry The curry was a blend of shredded meat, mashed potatoes, tomatoes and grapes (yes grapes!). The pork loin cutlets were crispy and not heavily breaded. The meat was a bit dry, yet it was cut in thin slices so it didn't bother me much. I found the multigrain rice even more enjoyable than white rice with its crunchiness. *Matcha Crème Brûlée** WE LOVED THIS. Matcha flavor is strong. The caramelized top and creamy matcha custard complemented really well. Trust me, their crème brûlée is the best dessert to finish off your meal. *Vegan Matcha Cheesecake This cheesecake was homey and light. Matcha flavor was tasteable but not very strong. The raspberry compote added a nice touch to it. I liked the crunchy biscuit layer on the bottom. *Yuzu White Peach Sparkling *Virgin Green Tea Mojito Their Japanese-inspired mocktails were great and not too sweet (very rare for mocktails). Very refreshing to drink along with your meal.

Starting off with the Agedashi Tofu: Three pieces of tofu in tsuyu sauce. Light and crispy, with a savory but not too salty broth. It came with fried enoki mushrooms. Some grated radish would've been a nice touch. Chicken Karaage: This was my personal favorite. The chicken pieces were tender and juicy, while crispy on the outside. The portion came with a decent amount of chicken which was shareable between three. Shoyu Ramen: Not a standout dish, but seeing as it's not specifically a ramen restaurant, it was standard! Not amazing but not bad. Pork Cutlet Curry: As someone who loves Japanese curry, this hit the spot! Warm flavorful curry with crispy tonkatsu. However, I think it would taste better served with fluffy white rice! Also I think it was served with a side of grapes which was seemed odd unless it's a new food trend I'm unaware of. The agedashi tofu was the worst amongst our group for a weird texture, definitely did not feel like tofu. The best dishes were the uni taster, chicken karraage, and hamachi kama all from the a la carte menu. Apparently There's No Such Thing as Too Hot for Ramen!…read more I was working from my Midtown office, which is ALWAYS freezing , so despite it being a hot day in NYC, ramen sounded like the perfect lunch. Instead of taking the easy route and ordering delivery, I decided to walk over to Kushi Kushi Yaki to get some fresh air -- and, more importantly, escape the Arctic tundra that is my office. The restaurant is small but really nicely decorated and felt warm and inviting. As soon as I walked in, the waitress/hostess greeted me and offered me a seat. I let her know I was ordering to-go, and she immediately handed me a menu so I could make my selection. I quickly landed on the Tantan Ramen -- chicken broth, seasoned ground chicken, soft-boiled egg, hot oil, bok choy, scallions, and chili paste. And OMG, it was SO good! Flavorful, comforting, with just the right amount of heat. Exactly what I needed! The price was also a pleasant surprise! The ramen was listed at $18 on the regular menu, but it was only $15 as part of the lunch special. For a filling and delicious lunch in Midtown Manhattan, I thought that was a pretty good deal. I was also really impressed with how thoughtfully they packed the ramen for takeout. The broth came in a larger container, while all of the ingredients were packed separately in a smaller container that fit perfectly inside. No soggy noodles or ingredients sitting in broth during the walk back to the office! My only small critique is the shape of the broth container. It was pretty tall and narrow, which made everything a little difficult to stir once combined. A wider, more rounded container would make eating it much easier. Overall, delicious ramen, friendly and efficient service, great takeout packaging, AND a solid lunch deal. I'd absolutely go back -- even when my office isn't freezing me out!

The food was well executed, but the flavors didn't quite stand out for me. I had the Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen, which was pretty good with nicely cooked noodles, but the broth felt a little one-note. Since yakitori is their namesake, I also tried the 7-skewer combo along with the chicken skin and gizzard. The skin and gizzard were excellent, and the bacon-wrapped baby corn and cherry tomato from the combo were standouts. Everything was cooked well, but I wasn't a huge fan of the tare, which leaned pretty salty and lacked some balance. The lychee mango cocktail pouch was fun but nothing particularly memorable. Overall, a good spot for the atmosphere, service, and some standout skewers, but the food didn't quite wow me.
