Hwedupbap (Korean style sashimi over rice) w/ side of miso soup it comes with
    Eric K.

A humble, easy-to-miss spot at the bottom of Route 5 in Edgewater, I've taken food out time to time from here and it's consistently been of good quality and taste. I only come here for 1 thing and 1 thing only - Hwe Dup Bap (Korean-style dish with raw fish on top of rice and fresh greens, w/ vinegar gochujang sauce (cho gochujang) While it is slightly pricey than say, your average roll, it's totally worth it. You get a filling meal of warm rice covered in delicious slabs of fresh raw fish, complimented perfectly by fresh greens, that sweet & sour cho gochujang which makes everything better, topped with hint of sesame oil. You get a side of miso soup as well. Next time you want fresh raw fish dish that will satisfy, go order hwe dup bap (don't worry - you can pronounce it!) from Sushi To Go Express. It is a gem.

    Large Combo Box

Generally, when I order either a sushi or a sashimi combo from local sushi takeout places, I need to make myself a side of udon or ramen because they don't fill me up. But the "Large Combo Box" was indeed large, and I was pretty full from it alone that I didn't need to complement anything else for dinner. The main thing that I look for in a takeout place is value, and Sushi To Go certainly provides value. All in all, I am very satisfied and will come back!

It is my third return in a month. I have to say the new Chef, probably the new owner takes care of the food very seriously! Under the new management, all the fishes are more fresh and the chef is very generous with the portion. I can tell each bite and every roll has become bigger than before. The freshness and presentation of the sushi is comparable with dine-in restaurants while the price is more affordable. I have to say if you are craving for sushi, you should come here. Believe or not, the tuna and the fatty salmon just melt right into the mouth. The shrimp is also super fresh and sweet. Most importantly: the restaurant is so clean!!!! I double checked the mini glass refrigerator on the counter, it is super clean!!!!

The sushi here is phenomenal. If you want fresh, fast, and delish sushi this is the place to be. The new owner is passionate and knows a thing or two on how to craft sushi to its finest. From start to finish it was a delight and would definitely give this place a minute! Plenty of seating too.

You can feel that the owner uses all the fresh ingredients. It's so delicious, and I plan to use it often in the future.

    HOEDEOPBAB MISO

Don't just come here for the sushi! Their Korean hoedeop bap (raw fish bibimbap) is incredible. I was blown away by how flavorful and comforting this dish was. The rice was steamed just right - fluffy but not mushy. As a fan of Korean cuisine, I appreciated the authenticity of the flavors. Meanwhile, the straightforward yet flawless salmon sashimi and comforting udon highlight expertise in traditional Japanese cuisine. The hoedeop bap is a must-try! I'll definitely be back for more.

    Medium sushi box $17.95 NO!!

I made a rash decision because I was hungry and it was convenient. I did read yelp reviews and it was ok it seemed but I stopped eating after a few pieces. I am sorry for this review but I have to be honest. I would never go here again. The fish was dry and rubbery. The rice wasn't bad but size was inconsistent. One of the fish was talapia which was odd because it looked like the frozen one you would buy at the grocery store that you would never eat raw. They have been in that location for 10 years which tells me that it must have been good before. Otherwise how could they last. Well all I can say is maybe COVID might be to blame. And prices weren't cheap either. If it was then I will have less of an expectation. I ordered the Medium sushi box $17.95. What a shame!!

Great sushi! Owners are so sweet and will have your order ready super fast! There is an option to order online and the menu has so much to choose from. The only thing I don't like about this place is the parking. Sushi- to-go is located in a congested strip plaza and there are only a few spots out front. You may find yourself needing to wait or parking elsewhere and walking.

Went for Weekday Lunch Special Food - 5/5. The sushi here is phenomenal! Every bite I had was delightful thanks to the quality and delicate cuts of the fish. Rice was firm with a good amount of vinegar seasoning in them. Spicy tuna was topped with a creamy sauce that had just the right amount of spice. There was a hint of gochujang flavor in the sauce, which gets points for unique and deliciousness. Service - 4/5. Friendly and quick service. Value - 5/5. Sushi & sashimi combo will run you $13.50 which is the norm price for lunch sushi combos in the area. Great quality makes this restaurant stand out and I highly recommend the spot for sushi! Parking - Mall Lot (Free)

We wanted sushi one night but were too tired to go get some so we decided to check Yelp for a place that delivered near by and I come across this place. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the nigiri, maki, rolls and sashimi. The food arrived rather quickly and like I said, it was very good! I'll be ordering delivery from them again in the future.

showing the hours they are open. and the manager is going to tell me no its 9pm and that he updated the time on google

I ordered about 100 dollars worth of sushi, yesteday January 10th. I got to the restaurnt at 9:38pm and when i got there it was closed. I called today to address the issue with the manager and he is going to tell me " something must be wrong with my clock because he was here till 9:48. At 9:48 last night I was trying to contact Doordash support. The establishment clearly says on google it closes at 10 and the manager is going to tell me no it doesnt. they close at 9. I use to love this place and buy platters frequently. As of today I will be going to Sushi Cruise or Arigato to fix my Sushi cravings.

The restaurant is quite intimate with 2-3 chef's evenly distributed and ambiance is quite lively though not too loud. The staff are quite attentive and they have a nice drink menu with diverse sake options (junmai to junmai daiginjo) and give ample ginger that was solid. The chefs were nice and engaging with diners. The omakase leaned heavily on your typical fish enhanced by gourmet ingredients - if you're a fan then this is the place for you! The fish tasted fresh with highlights being the otoro, uni, sake, ikura, and kanpachi. Four of the courses had truffle, a few with caviar and then toro with caviar and gold leaf that really just made me roll my eyes. Personally these ingredients don't add much, if anything for me for sushi but do make for aesthetics, otherwise I prefer simplicity. Overall it's a satisfying meal and decent value for the price!

There are no tables, so the chef cam focus on the sushi bar and on you. The omakase right now is $175 per person and you can't find a better value. Of course the fish is great, just look at the pictures! Also, they make the best green tea panna cotta, nowhere is better.

The fish was all delicious and all had some kind of unique topping, and some were also torched. Each piece was truly one bite and I preferred this to the bigger nigiri that eats more messily. Typically at sushi places I stick to salmon, tuna, and yellowtail, so I had some reservations about whether I would like everything, but really everything was tasty. Some of my favorites were the appetizer yuzu yellowtail with microgreens, and then amberjack (who knew!). The wagyu had a truffle topping and it was a great piece but I am not sure it was necessary and next time would probably just opt for the standard classic set. The waitress was very friendly and the chefs checked in throughout the meal and seemed to care that we were enjoying the nigiri. A few times we were asked if we wanted add on ons (drinks, and then sushi add ons later). I would have preferred if the menu was just maybe left without explicit solicitations to order more. But other than that not sure anything could have been better. The restaurant is simple, understated, and minimalist. Though right on a busy street the outside is so narrow and understated that it would be easy to walk by every day and miss this place. Would highly recommend for an extremely good and reasonably priced omakase experience.

So overall, was disappointed with these. As for the nigiri - most of them were pretty good. The fish was good quality and the one that really blew me away was the uni don - the uni and roe were EXTREMELY fresh, blew my mind. It was the best uni I had in a while. The wagyu handroll was also delicious and decadent. The last handroll - hamachi handroll - was a bit flavorless though.
