I've been seeing this spot all over my feed, so when I was in the area, II had to finally give it a try. It's such a cute little shop, and the person working was really friendly and helped me decide what to order. I asked what their most popular drink was, and she recommended the matcha banana pudding, so of course I had to try it. I liked that you can customize the sweetness level and choice of milk, so I went with oat milk. The drink was really good, and the presentation was so cute. It tasted great and it wasn't too sweet. Everyone was really friendly, and my drink came out pretty quickly. The only thing to keep in mind is that parking can be a little tight, but I'd definitely say it's worth stopping by if you're in the area. Definitely want to come back and try their other drinks!
First stop of my birthday day was Daydrift in Costa Mesa, which my wife took me to for some matcha, and I gotta say right off the bat, these drinks are stunning. Like top notch aesthetics. Mine had this little orange peel sitting on the cream that was kinda dripping down the side, and the matcha powder had a little decoration dusted on top. Just a solid ten out of ten on looks. The spot itself has a nice aesthetic too, and the staff were super sweet, gave us some recommendations on what to try. There's not a ton of seating but there's a few tables here and there if you wanna post up and hang for a bit. Parking though, that can be a headache for sure. I ended up getting the strawberry juju matcha latte and my wife got the regular vanilla matcha latte, and honestly, this is where it kinda fell apart for us. Neither of us were really impressed with the flavor. Mine wasn't sweet at all, it actually leaned more bitter, which surprised me because of how much strawberry puree was packed in there. I was expecting a real strawberry punch and instead it just tasted like a milky watered down light strawberry milk kinda thing. It completely fell short, especially when the drink looks THAT good. You build up these high expectations off the aesthetics and then the flavor just isn't there. My wife's vanilla was a little better, it had some decent milky balanced matcha vanilla thing going on, but it still just didn't hit. We've had thousands and thousands of matchas at this point so we know what we're looking for, and this just wasn't it. I really think the problem was how pretty they were, cause we expected the flavor to match that same energy and it just didn't come close. Gorgeous drinks, flavor needs some work.
Came here with my daughter and her friend and they wanted to try this place out and it was very good. They tried the drink here, they ordered banana pudding matcha and pandan blu mylk. It was good drinks. Service here, the girl was taking my daughter order was very nice and quick also she was well presented. Ambience here it pretty small place in here. Has a couple of chairs and little tables. The only thing I don't like is the parking it's not much parking to get in and out and this place is in the corner of the plaza and it was hard to find a parking. They got also sitting outside a small section of it.
Daydrift had caught my attention for quite a while with their beautiful lattes adorned with vibrant flowers and elegant dehydrated fruit garnishes. This afternoon, I decided to take my laptop and perch there for a couple of hours to try one of their matcha lattes. The cafe is located in a corner of The Camp plaza in Costa Mesa. Parking on a Friday afternoon was such a headache that I decided to valet for $5. In this modern plaza, the branches and vines that twist through Daydrift's trellises make this verdant oasis stand out amidst the monolithic retail units that surround it. Although there are only a few tables available, I was able to snag one. Sitting in the patio area was quite nice. There is also wifi and a bathroom available. The workers are very nice. I wanted something a little less sweet, so they recommended the pandan matcha. I got that with oat milk. My sister got the pandan blue milk. Although the drinks are visually stunning, their flavor leaves a bit to be desired for me. Even though I substituted dairy for oat milk, my latte was still too milky for my tastes and the matcha flavor was not strong enough. I am also not the biggest fan of the flavor of the pandan extract (or however they are adding the pandan flavor) as it tasted a bit too grassy for me. I have the same comment for the blue pandan milk. I'm glad I gave this place a try, but I believe that there are better places to get matcha in Orange County.
I really enjoy their cream tops and that's coming from someone who's usually not a fan of them. My main qualm with cream tops is they are typically too creamy and sweet and overpoweringly vanilla-y. I like daydrifts' because the unique asian insoired flavors still come through but are still refreshing and not overly sweet. My favorite so far has been the mugwort but the hojicha matcha is a close second. I'd recommend taking a light sip of the cream top and then mixing the whole drink together.
Wow I actually enjoyed this place! Yelp had an event at The Camp for Yoga and afterwards I wanted to find a spot for some tasty matcha! I was torn between and Chafinity but decided to go with trendy and aesthetics. Glad I did. I totally enjoyed it! They had some great selections for matcha and coffee. I asked what they recommend and I wanted something sweeter so I went with the Banana Matcha. It was sweet and had the perfect caramelized banana and so cutely garnished! They had some seating indoors and outdoor seating but they were all full by 1030am on a Friday! Kinda crazy but at least The Camp has lots of nooks with seating. Enjoyed the matcha! Definitely will come back if I'm in the area to try other items! They also had this delicious looking cookie! I was so tempted!
So glad we found this place!! We were browsing at the shops nearby and happened to past by. The space is so cute and nicely decorated. The star of their menu is definitely their matcha selection but they also sell coffee and a few dessert treats like banana pudding, cookies, etc. There's some seats inside and also inconsistent they small outdoor space. While the seats are not very comfortable, the place is great for photos! My friend and I got the guava strawberry matcha and the banana pudding matcha. Both were super good! The guava strawberry matcha is so refreshing and sweet, but not overly. The banana pudding matcha is really creamy and comes with biscoff crumbles! Plenty of parking spaces!
I've seen this on instagram and just so happen to be next to it so I came in. I ordered the Drift Cream Coffee which was their version of a Vietnamese iced coffee. I loved the taste, perfect amount of sweetness, and the presentation of it was pretty. I also had the Ube rice crispy treat which was good but seemed expensive given the size of it. There was a steady flow of traffic coming in the late afternoon, however, I didn't love the seating options. I'm sure it's for their aesthetic, but lawn chairs and a small bar top to sit at was not my favorite thing.
Yet another beautiful coffee shop in Costa Mesa! Located in The CAMP, Daydrift is a super aesthetic spot serving up gorgeous matcha and coffee. Seriously, every drink is so meticulously prepared with the cutest toppings! We got their Strawberry Yuzu Matcha Latte and Drift Cream Coffee. I haven't seen the strawberry and yuzu combo often. It was really bright and paired well with the solid matcha! Their Drift Cream Coffee was creamy, not-too-sweet, and hit all the right notes. Love!
I saw so many artsy beautiful photos of the matchas here and book-marked it for a while, and finally made it last month to check it out myself. They replaced Honey&Milk that was here in the past. Didn't do much to interior change but the drinks are pleasing on the eyes. I feel like the owner of this place but love art and was able to open a matcha shop with such beautiful creation for their drinks. I do appreciate the work and effort that was put into making it drinks. Thanks to that, lines are pretty long during peak hours.. My friend and I stopped by on an early Sunday morning before the rush, and there was no line. I got the Hojicha Matcha and my friend got the pandan matcha. Both were very instagram-worthy. Very pretty. Taste wise, it was good. Since matcha cream-top becomes such a thing now in the recent years, most places offer cream top (I mean, even Starbucks has it on their regular menu now, talk about the influence), and I've had soooo many different coffee and matcha with different cream top that, to sum it up, there's only 3 level. Good, average, and bad. If places use good ceremonial grade matcha, and use the right ratio of milk/water/to matcha, the matcha can be pretty consistent, no matter what kind of ceremonial grade "brand" it is. Because if they get it from Japan at the Matcha capital (Uji), there are different names but basically they harvest and process the powder very consistent to the method. Anyway, in short, the matcha latter part here with oatmilk was good. it was between average to good. What sets most places apart now is also the cream top. The cream-top here is also good. So, that makes this place overall, Good. So, def rec. Though, I gotta stop trying all these matcha with cream-top places now because even if non-dairy cream foam top, you know how much calories are in them????? It's crazy!
I got the Banana Pudding Matcha, and it was really good! I was a little skeptical at first because I wasn't sure how banana pudding in a matcha would taste. They actually put real banana pudding in the drink, and I was pleasantly surprised, It was really good. It's definitely on the sweeter side, so don't count the calories with this one, just enjoy it. It was also under $8. The drink came with a yummy cookie as decoration. The service was great. The lady at the register was very nice and helpful. Since it was my first time here, I asked for a recommendation, and she suggested the Banana Pudding Matcha, saying it was one of their most popular drinks. I'm glad I took her advice. The coffee shop itself is very small it's more of a grab-and-go spot. There are only a couple of tables available (like 4 if I don't recall wrong) so I wouldn't count on finding seating. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the restrooms were pretty dirty when I visited. They definitely need to be cleaned more often. Maybe I just happened to go in at a bad time, but it did affect my overall experience.
Loved the vibe and known for their matcha! They had a ton of matcha flavors for those that are true enthusiasts. I'm more of a coffee fan myself, but all my closest friends are matcha lovers. They offer some coffee options, but I wasn't the biggest fan. This is more of a grab-and-go place due to the small space. Other than that, if you're looking for a great, trendy matcha place then this is it for you! *Also VERYYY limited parking in The Camp, so plan accordingly*
I don't usually write reviews for cafe but I loved the drinks here! First of all it's super cute and while there's only a bit of seating they're all pretty nice spots. I got the Pandan blue milk which was sweet but hit the spot. We also had the drift cream coffee which was strong but also sweet. I do hear good things about the matcha here too!

The pandan matcha & banana pudding matcha are soooo bomb! Priced at $7.50 each. Love the drink presentation. Both drinks were matcha bold and balanced with the right amount of sweetness & creaminess. Drinks came out pretty quickly, despite small lines. Small shop with some tables to sit. Parking can be a challenge. read more

50 sweet pandan matcha latte yum. they hand whisk their matcha a bit pricey for a regular size at 7.5 without any additions a lil gritty but with every matcha a few straw twirls are necessary wait time was 15 minutes at 9:30 AM on a saturday :P but lots of parking available and good amt of seating but small space read more
Daydrift is a great new addition to the OC café scene, recently opened at The Camp. They offer a variety of unique drinks topped with cute garnishes. There's a small patio outside along with a few seats indoors. We ordered the pandan matcha latte and the banana pudding match - both were perfectly sweetened with bold, well-balanced flavors. We really enjoyed our drinks! read more

My friend and I went when they first opened, the line took about 30 min. The drinks were delicious and had an Instagram worthy aesthetic. They worked very fast so our drink came out in like 5 min despite having a like out the door. The space is quite small inside so I would def pick up the drink for Togo. Would def come again if the line isn't too long. read more

The matcha here is very pretty but unfortunately it did not taste like matcha at all. If I closed my eyes I would think I'm just drinking a strawberry yuzu juice. It also was not sweetened at all so it didn't taste very good read more
i got the pandan matcha for $7.50. it's a bit pricey for what it's worth. the taste was good in the beginning but after awhile, it started to taste ok. pandan coconut matcha tasted better. this place is small with limited seating. luckily, the line was short and service was a bit slow but friendly. overall, it's a convenient spot if you're nearby but i wouldn't go out of my way to get it. read more

first of all, their entire menu is clearly ai generated which is already a red flag. that signals to customers that this place does not value work ethic and authenticity. second, this place seems like it just wants to be a place for people to take instagram pictures, which is exactly what we saw when we came in. it was full of high schoolers taking pictures and just being in the way. the store is already very small with limited seating, and we had a hard time trying to make our way inbetween people who were not paying attention to their surroundings. it was a very overstimulating environment, for a place that seems to market itself as a quiet, aesthetic getaway. third, the drink we got was very strange. the matcha taste was extremely mild (it just tasted like sweet milk), and there were weird toppings that didn't make any sense to us. there was exactly two pieces of cereal??, a flower, a citrus slice (which we thought was yuzu, but friends say it just looks like a tangerine..), a cream top which overpowered the entire drink, and then extra matcha powder on top (which sadly added no extra flavor). bonus points for presentation, but it felt like a drink meant for a kid. everything was just very underwhelming and didn't actually add anything to the drink. overall, we probably won't be back. read more

I ordered matcha Guava. It's so tasty. However I was disappointing that dried slice lemon and thyme on the topping were so tiny.it was totally different looking with the samples, I thought it was hype. read more
ermm... not good... we got the hojicha matcha, pandan matcha, and strawberry yuzu matcha. the hojicha matcha was too sweet, and you can taste the granular sugar particles within the hojicha. for the two matcha drinks, it was really watered down and after 5 minutes the matcha grains start to show. overall, i don't get the hype and there are way better matcha spots right across the street like made coffee. in addition, i wouldn't say getting to the location is convenient at all. on the weekends, the camp is packed and finding a parking spot is hell, and even after parking, you would have to wait in line for a mediocre drink. day drift markets itself for having ceremonial grade matcha to the highest quality, and 7/9 of its specialty drinks contains matcha. however, their actual drinks don't match up to its high standards, especially in oc, the hotspot for cafes. read more
I was visiting town looking for coffee/matcha places to try, and I heard of this place recently opening up. After seeing photos of the drinks online and their unique speciality options, I was quite intrigued. The store is tucked in the corner of The Camp on Bristol St. With natural wood details, living plants, and large windows, the cozy store feels very open and inviting. While met with a busy environment, the workers were friendly and happy to give their suggestions. I ordered the Hojicha matcha while my friend got the banana pudding matcha. This was my first time trying Hojicha, and I was very pleased with the nutty, chocolate notes of the drink. I found that the matcha cream on top was the perfect, delicate addition to the drink. Definitely try to sip this drink as opposed to mixing in the matcha cream so that you can get a good balance of both flavors. The banana pudding matcha was quite comparable to the classic banana pudding, with a dollop of banana whipped cream on top of their classic matcha. 10/10, would recommend to matcha lovers! read more

It's a cute little matcha spot to visit, love the menu items they have. Prices are comparable to other similar cafes. Seats and parking can be limited but drinks are worth it; there's so much to do at the Camp (plaza where this is located). The staff is welcoming and friendly. Their banana pudding is delicious and my favorite drink so far is their Hojicha Matcha! read more

The Banana pudding matcha is the best! Like a desert with banana pudding and biscoff cookie crumbles on top. They also sell the banana pudding on the side- phenomenal. Great presentation- about $7-$8. So worth it for a treat! Been there 3 times and have enjoyed trying different flavors. Banana pudding is the best! read more

The Hojicha matcha was my favorite out of the four drinks we got. Still thinking about her tbh! Staff were really nice and the place was pretty clean. The warm lights they used made the place feel very cozy. There wasn't much seating, but since it's located at The Camp, you can just grab something to drink and walk around or shop. read more

What a cute hidden gem! The Matcha was great, not too sweet but not grassy taste either. Just the right amount of sweetness and quality matcha. This is a great place to come chat with a friend. Not to mention the staff was so friendly and welcoming. I would definitely be coming back soon! read more

Glad we stop by because the drinks and cookie were delicious. now, when it comes to presentation that deserves an award of it's own, each drink is crafted to perfect perfection that pictures don't give it justice. I saw that this coffee shop had just opened, so I went with my family to check it out. I ordered the strawberry yuzu matcha (less sweet) and a hot vanilla latte. The service was friendly, but there were only two employees working and they looked visibly stressed and overwhelmed. The shop felt a bit chaotic-there weren't any lids that fit the iced drinks, drinks were being made out of order, and they initially forgot to make my hot vanilla latte. When it finally came out after I reminded them, it was barely lukewarm. At that point, I didn't want to go back in and ask for it to be remade since it had already taken so long for the drinks to come out. The workers were kind, but overall I wouldn't come back. I ended up throwing away both drinks after only a few sips. read more

Drink was kind of just a sugar bomb. The service was nice. But you can't really taste coffee or matcha it was just... sweet. I got the banana coffee with matcha top. The banana syrup is chunky with banana, which I thought was yummy for the most part but for people that don't like pulp or chunk will hate that. Also I thought the garnish didn't make sense... like why is there a rosemary and dried lemon in a matcha banana drink? Kind of gross. Also, with a cream top this is the only lid they had, so you can't really enjoy the cream top till u finish the rest. The drink came out rather quick though they were busy. I think they still have a lot of work to do since they are new but a fun place to try overall. Might just stick to nook across the street for coffee though. read more

Not friendly service. The place was dirty with spiders on the windows and the floor was gross. Only one girl was sweet working the cash register but we kept getting weird glances from the other workers. The place gave me a weird vibe and seemed very disorganized. The place was cute but other than that it was not worth it. The banana matcha didn't taste like matcha at all just banana btw read more
