I've been seeing this spot all over my feed, so when I was in the area, II had to finally give it a try. It's such a cute little shop, and the person working was really friendly and helped me decide what to order. I asked what their most popular drink was, and she recommended the matcha banana pudding, so of course I had to try it. I liked that you can customize the sweetness level and choice of milk, so I went with oat milk. The drink was really good, and the presentation was so cute. It tasted great and it wasn't too sweet. Everyone was really friendly, and my drink came out pretty quickly. The only thing to keep in mind is that parking can be a little tight, but I'd definitely say it's worth stopping by if you're in the area. Definitely want to come back and try their other drinks!
First stop of my birthday day was Daydrift in Costa Mesa, which my wife took me to for some matcha, and I gotta say right off the bat, these drinks are stunning. Like top notch aesthetics. Mine had this little orange peel sitting on the cream that was kinda dripping down the side, and the matcha powder had a little decoration dusted on top. Just a solid ten out of ten on looks. The spot itself has a nice aesthetic too, and the staff were super sweet, gave us some recommendations on what to try. There's not a ton of seating but there's a few tables here and there if you wanna post up and hang for a bit. Parking though, that can be a headache for sure. I ended up getting the strawberry juju matcha latte and my wife got the regular vanilla matcha latte, and honestly, this is where it kinda fell apart for us. Neither of us were really impressed with the flavor. Mine wasn't sweet at all, it actually leaned more bitter, which surprised me because of how much strawberry puree was packed in there. I was expecting a real strawberry punch and instead it just tasted like a milky watered down light strawberry milk kinda thing. It completely fell short, especially when the drink looks THAT good. You build up these high expectations off the aesthetics and then the flavor just isn't there. My wife's vanilla was a little better, it had some decent milky balanced matcha vanilla thing going on, but it still just didn't hit. We've had thousands and thousands of matchas at this point so we know what we're looking for, and this just wasn't it. I really think the problem was how pretty they were, cause we expected the flavor to match that same energy and it just didn't come close. Gorgeous drinks, flavor needs some work.
Came here with my daughter and her friend and they wanted to try this place out and it was very good. They tried the drink here, they ordered banana pudding matcha and pandan blu mylk. It was good drinks. Service here, the girl was taking my daughter order was very nice and quick also she was well presented. Ambience here it pretty small place in here. Has a couple of chairs and little tables. The only thing I don't like is the parking it's not much parking to get in and out and this place is in the corner of the plaza and it was hard to find a parking. They got also sitting outside a small section of it.
Daydrift had caught my attention for quite a while with their beautiful lattes adorned with vibrant flowers and elegant dehydrated fruit garnishes. This afternoon, I decided to take my laptop and perch there for a couple of hours to try one of their matcha lattes. The cafe is located in a corner of The Camp plaza in Costa Mesa. Parking on a Friday afternoon was such a headache that I decided to valet for $5. In this modern plaza, the branches and vines that twist through Daydrift's trellises make this verdant oasis stand out amidst the monolithic retail units that surround it. Although there are only a few tables available, I was able to snag one. Sitting in the patio area was quite nice. There is also wifi and a bathroom available. The workers are very nice. I wanted something a little less sweet, so they recommended the pandan matcha. I got that with oat milk. My sister got the pandan blue milk. Although the drinks are visually stunning, their flavor leaves a bit to be desired for me. Even though I substituted dairy for oat milk, my latte was still too milky for my tastes and the matcha flavor was not strong enough. I am also not the biggest fan of the flavor of the pandan extract (or however they are adding the pandan flavor) as it tasted a bit too grassy for me. I have the same comment for the blue pandan milk. I'm glad I gave this place a try, but I believe that there are better places to get matcha in Orange County.
I really enjoy their cream tops and that's coming from someone who's usually not a fan of them. My main qualm with cream tops is they are typically too creamy and sweet and overpoweringly vanilla-y. I like daydrifts' because the unique asian insoired flavors still come through but are still refreshing and not overly sweet. My favorite so far has been the mugwort but the hojicha matcha is a close second. I'd recommend taking a light sip of the cream top and then mixing the whole drink together.
Wow I actually enjoyed this place! Yelp had an event at The Camp for Yoga and afterwards I wanted to find a spot for some tasty matcha! I was torn between and Chafinity but decided to go with trendy and aesthetics. Glad I did. I totally enjoyed it! They had some great selections for matcha and coffee. I asked what they recommend and I wanted something sweeter so I went with the Banana Matcha. It was sweet and had the perfect caramelized banana and so cutely garnished! They had some seating indoors and outdoor seating but they were all full by 1030am on a Friday! Kinda crazy but at least The Camp has lots of nooks with seating. Enjoyed the matcha! Definitely will come back if I'm in the area to try other items! They also had this delicious looking cookie! I was so tempted!
So glad we found this place!! We were browsing at the shops nearby and happened to past by. The space is so cute and nicely decorated. The star of their menu is definitely their matcha selection but they also sell coffee and a few dessert treats like banana pudding, cookies, etc. There's some seats inside and also inconsistent they small outdoor space. While the seats are not very comfortable, the place is great for photos! My friend and I got the guava strawberry matcha and the banana pudding matcha. Both were super good! The guava strawberry matcha is so refreshing and sweet, but not overly. The banana pudding matcha is really creamy and comes with biscoff crumbles! Plenty of parking spaces!
I've seen this on instagram and just so happen to be next to it so I came in. I ordered the Drift Cream Coffee which was their version of a Vietnamese iced coffee. I loved the taste, perfect amount of sweetness, and the presentation of it was pretty. I also had the Ube rice crispy treat which was good but seemed expensive given the size of it. There was a steady flow of traffic coming in the late afternoon, however, I didn't love the seating options. I'm sure it's for their aesthetic, but lawn chairs and a small bar top to sit at was not my favorite thing.
Yet another beautiful coffee shop in Costa Mesa! Located in The CAMP, Daydrift is a super aesthetic spot serving up gorgeous matcha and coffee. Seriously, every drink is so meticulously prepared with the cutest toppings! We got their Strawberry Yuzu Matcha Latte and Drift Cream Coffee. I haven't seen the strawberry and yuzu combo often. It was really bright and paired well with the solid matcha! Their Drift Cream Coffee was creamy, not-too-sweet, and hit all the right notes. Love!
I saw so many artsy beautiful photos of the matchas here and book-marked it for a while, and finally made it last month to check it out myself. They replaced Honey&Milk that was here in the past. Didn't do much to interior change but the drinks are pleasing on the eyes. I feel like the owner of this place but love art and was able to open a matcha shop with such beautiful creation for their drinks. I do appreciate the work and effort that was put into making it drinks. Thanks to that, lines are pretty long during peak hours.. My friend and I stopped by on an early Sunday morning before the rush, and there was no line. I got the Hojicha Matcha and my friend got the pandan matcha. Both were very instagram-worthy. Very pretty. Taste wise, it was good. Since matcha cream-top becomes such a thing now in the recent years, most places offer cream top (I mean, even Starbucks has it on their regular menu now, talk about the influence), and I've had soooo many different coffee and matcha with different cream top that, to sum it up, there's only 3 level. Good, average, and bad. If places use good ceremonial grade matcha, and use the right ratio of milk/water/to matcha, the matcha can be pretty consistent, no matter what kind of ceremonial grade "brand" it is. Because if they get it from Japan at the Matcha capital (Uji), there are different names but basically they harvest and process the powder very consistent to the method. Anyway, in short, the matcha latter part here with oatmilk was good. it was between average to good. What sets most places apart now is also the cream top. The cream-top here is also good. So, that makes this place overall, Good. So, def rec. Though, I gotta stop trying all these matcha with cream-top places now because even if non-dairy cream foam top, you know how much calories are in them????? It's crazy!
I got the Banana Pudding Matcha, and it was really good! I was a little skeptical at first because I wasn't sure how banana pudding in a matcha would taste. They actually put real banana pudding in the drink, and I was pleasantly surprised, It was really good. It's definitely on the sweeter side, so don't count the calories with this one, just enjoy it. It was also under $8. The drink came with a yummy cookie as decoration. The service was great. The lady at the register was very nice and helpful. Since it was my first time here, I asked for a recommendation, and she suggested the Banana Pudding Matcha, saying it was one of their most popular drinks. I'm glad I took her advice. The coffee shop itself is very small it's more of a grab-and-go spot. There are only a couple of tables available (like 4 if I don't recall wrong) so I wouldn't count on finding seating. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the restrooms were pretty dirty when I visited. They definitely need to be cleaned more often. Maybe I just happened to go in at a bad time, but it did affect my overall experience.
Loved the vibe and known for their matcha! They had a ton of matcha flavors for those that are true enthusiasts. I'm more of a coffee fan myself, but all my closest friends are matcha lovers. They offer some coffee options, but I wasn't the biggest fan. This is more of a grab-and-go place due to the small space. Other than that, if you're looking for a great, trendy matcha place then this is it for you! *Also VERYYY limited parking in The Camp, so plan accordingly*
I don't usually write reviews for cafe but I loved the drinks here! First of all it's super cute and while there's only a bit of seating they're all pretty nice spots. I got the Pandan blue milk which was sweet but hit the spot. We also had the drift cream coffee which was strong but also sweet. I do hear good things about the matcha here too!
New korean-owned coffee shop at the CAMP! Good matcha to cream top ratio, love the fresh banana pudding, and visually aesthetic drinks. However, it's a tiny space with limited seating & rough parking so not work friendly. Expect a line out the door after 10-11 am on a weekend! I get the hype but it's not worth more than a 20 minute wait imo. Pretty comparable to a lot of other coffee shops in OC! read more
came here for the first time with some of my girlfriends around 2pm on a friday and it was quite busy! line was out the door but the store is quite small as it's located inside the camp with limited parking in front. line moved quick though and we got our drinks not too long after ordering. got to try 3 different signature drinks on my visit and they were all pretty good! the pandan coconut mizu matcha was coconut water mixed with matcha and the two balanced each other well with the sweetness of the coconut water balancing the bitterness of the matcha. their pandan matcha latte was my fave personally as it was creamy and just the right amount of sweetness. matcha flavor wasn't too strong however and the pandan was just slightly peaking through. their drift cream coffee was pretty much a vietnamese coffee with some kind of cream on top but you can never go wrong with a vietnamese coffee, strong and flavorful! the drinks overall were garnished so beautifully and service was nice. i'd love to come back again when i'm in the area to try their other drinks as it's a very casual spot where you can hangout, study, or just for a quick pick me up. read more
Tried daydrift because I saw it all over my tik tok and it was definitely worth the hype! Despite the cafe being small = limited seating, it is still really clean. The workers are super cordial and helpful, and they were willing to give me their top recommendations both times I visited. The wait wasn't bad and the drinks itself were pretty good! The first time I got the daydrift coffee which tasted like a vietnamese coffee and the second time I went, I got the banana matcha. I recommend getting the banana one 50% sweet if you're not a fan of too sweet. Also, other than the blue milk drink, they were all pretty solid. Overall, I highly recommend! read more

Parking: The parking in the front is small but there is parking behind the building which gets very limited on busy weekends. Drink: Drift cream coffee is your typical Vietnamese coffee so no complaints! Interior: The interior is quite small so when it gets busy, I wish they would manage the capacity inside. read more

I adore Daydrift! Cute little cafe that took over the old one. This place is now lively and sweet with delicious matcha & coffee w/amazing banana pudding. The best thing is the garnishing they do that makes each drink look magical read more

Mostly just a cute spot with cute seating area. The matcha coconut water drink was okay, just tasted like decent coconut water. And the banana coffee matcha tasted like straight banana puree. You can't expect much from a coffee shop with tons of cold foam drinks though read more

I recently came to daydrift because I was hearing a lot of good things about their matcha and it didn't disappoint. I like finding new spots around me that are cute and delicious. The vibes here were aesthetically pleasing and simple. The parking wasn't so easy to find but if you get lucky you'll be able to find some parking. This is located in the camp so it's pretty busy. I came here after work and I had to do two turns to find parking. Seating is also very limited I saw lots of people doing work but only a few tables available to sit or hang out. Back to the matcha I tried the strawberry yuzu matcha and banana pudding matcha both were amazing!! I'm usually not a strawberry matcha girl because it's too sweet and doesn't taste so strong on the matcha but this wasn't like too sweet it was good. For the star of the show the banana pudding was a 10/10 for me. Very tasty, delicious, and great drink overall. Comes with a cookie and cute decor. I love me a good matcha so I'll definitely be back to try different drinks out. If your in the area I really recommend this place. read more
We got the banana pudding matcha & I honestly enjoyed my drink a lot! It's more of a dessert drink though, so it's not really for if you're looking for a strong earthy matcha. We got the normal sugar level and it wasn't too sweet, which was surprising. The banana pudding on top was so creamy and delicious! The space is really cute but it does get really crowded. read more

Went back again and tried the mugwort matcha this time. The flavor was definitely more balanced compared to my last visit -- especially in sweetness. It wasn't overly sweet, which made it much more enjoyable. And as always, the drinks are so cute and beautifully presented. It's honestly hard not to snap a pic before taking a sip. Excited to come back and try more! read more

Had to definitely give this new spot a try and did NOT disappoint. It was delicious as well as fresh. I got the banana pudding matcha and it was super yummy. Service is fast and professional. Its a small area and the parking is a little stressful but other than that i definitely recommend read more
The drinks are so pretty to look at! There was a line when we arrived after lunch, it's located near the CAMP and I got lucky and found parking directly in front. The baristas were nice and accommodating despite the working through a ton of orders. There's a small area to sit outside but with the popularity of this cafe, it's even hard to find a spot to stand in. The drinks itself were very sweet in my opinion. It's a sweet treat if you're looking for a desserty matcha. read more
Matcha Mugwort Duo - matcha latte with mugwort pandan cream! I got it unsweetened & thought it was perfect because the pandan cream is sweet already. I think the matcha could be better because you can't taste it much, & I wish they had more non-dairy milk options (they only have oat). But I really enjoyed the mugwort pandan flavor! Also, I'm in trouble, because I tried the viral Chewy Dubai Cookie (chocolate mochi packed with dense pistachio kataifi inside), & I enjoyed it much more than I expected to! I thought it would be overhyped but it was actually really good & not too sweet, which I always appreciate. It's so expensive, though, $8 for one! Would I get it again? Probably, lol, but only as a treat given the price. read more
You can tell this place just opened. I ordered their most popular drink, the banana pudding matcha, and they were remaking the banana pudding, which backed up all the orders. Everyone ended up waiting on banana pudding drinks, and once they were ready, order numbers were called out randomly, which was chaotic. The matcha itself wasn't very strong--the banana and mugwort flavors completely overpowered it--and the drink wasn't very cold. read more

I saw this cafe all over my for you page as they were going viral for their aesthetic drinks and it definitely lives up to the visuals. The line is long but it moves relatively fast so don't worry! I enjoyed the pandan matcha a lot and so did my mom. Although the banana pudding matcha looked amazing, it fell short in taste for me. If you're confused of where this is, it's located in the old Milk & Honey location, so parking is quite limited. The owner is the sweetest person ever and always makes our experience enjoyable. I heard they'll be expanding their menu so I can't wait to come back and try more then! read more
My bestie and I visited Daydrift during their soft opening weekend and had the BEST time with their baristas and cashiers who are all sweethearts, as well as the patio and indoor seats around a modern and slightly hipster ambiance. All the menu items take Uji ceremonial grade matcha, Madagascar-imported vanilla bean, Thai-imported Pandan leaves, Korean-imported mugwort, and house-made syrups to provide all kinds of creative and beautiful matcha and coffee drinks!! what we ordered: strawberry yuzu matcha latte: with rich matcha, a sweet and slightly tart yuzu and strawberry layer at the bottom, and some matcha cream, this was one of the best strawberry lattes we've ever had!! (10/10) banana pudding matcha with oat milk: it's disclosed early on, but this drink is not sweetened at all and instead the banana pudding matcha is the vehicle for the sugar and creaminess. This is perfect for anyone who wants stronger matcha, but you may want to add syrup or sugar if you prefer a sweeter drink! I also found the banana pudding relatively mild compared to the strawberry and yuzu jam + other banana puddings/cream tops I've had, but the Uji matcha truly shines (8/10) Pandan blue mylk with oat milk: what a stunning and refreshing drink! The yogurt pretzel and herb garnish were adorable and the vivid blue and lavender colors made the mylk too pretty to drink. But this turned out to be one of our favorites with how perfectly sweet and delicate it is, but the most attractive one of the bunch! (10/10) read more

Love the exterior and inside vibe. It so laid back and calm. I would be so relaxed here, if only I had more time. The customer service is on point. She was alone in the shop, but still got the drinks out. The drink was too beautiful to drink. But, I drank it and it was delicious. Wish I had gotten a second drink instead of just one. Definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family. read more

I ordered the banana coffee with the matcha creamtop and oat milk. It was definitely on the sweeter side, but the banana flavor paired surprisingly well with the coffee. Unfortunately, the matcha creamtop was grainy, with bits of unwhisked matcha powder floating around. While the initial taste was enjoyable, the drink started to develop a slightly metallic note as it sat. I recommend consuming the drink as soon as possible so the coffee/matcha doesn't oxidize. Also, the ice melted pretty quickly and the coffee was lukewarm within 5 minutes. This would've been amazing as a Vietnamese coffee and without the matcha creamtop. Overall, it's a decent drink and customer service was good. read more
New matcha spot at the Camp OC! I ordered the matcha latte sweetened with vanilla syrup and with matcha cold foam. I thought the drink was too sweet, so I would order it less sweet next time. All the drinks are super cute and come with toppings. Mine came with a sugar cookie and a dried orange slice. The inside is small but there is an outdoor area. The bathroom didn't have toilet paper when I went. The service was friendly. Ambiance: 4/5. Small interior but there is outside seating. Service: 5/5 Matcha latte with matcha foam: 3/5 read more

Amazing drink, FRUSTRATING parking We stopped by Daydrift at The CAMP in Costa Mesa to try their strawberry yuzu matcha--and wow, the drink absolutely delivered. It was refreshing, well-balanced, and honestly worth the $7.50 price tag. The space itself is super cute, with a shaded seating area that makes it a nice little spot to hang out. Service was quick and easy, and the cashier was friendly. Just a heads up: they're cashless, so come prepared. Now... let's talk about parking. Parking at The CAMP--especially near this spot--is rough. There are only a handful of spaces, and during lunchtime it's completely packed. It was so bad that people were double parking (hazards on... or not), creating a chaotic situation. There's even a red line where you're not supposed to park, but that didn't stop anyone. Backing out in our SUV turned into a whole ordeal. We were basically stuck until someone who double parked (very crooked, by the way) finally came back and moved their car. It took several minutes and honestly killed the vibe. Bottom line: Amazing drinks Cute atmosphere + easy ordering Parking is a complete nightmare I'm glad I tried it, but honestly, I wouldn't go back solely because of the parking. If you're lucky enough to find a spot, it's worth trying--but for me, the hassle outweighs the hype. read more
I visited Daydrift on a Saturday mid-afternoon with a friend. As usual, the parking lot was very crowded & there were no spots open when we first drove in, but we were very lucky because we noticed that a car was pulling out shortly after we arrived. This was my third time attempting to visit Daydrift since the line was way too long the past couple times. Fortunately, there was no line this visit--there still wasn't any spots open to sit down, but it was no worries since we weren't planning on staying anyway. I liked how many plants they had to decorate the space & the lively ambiance. I thought that they had great selection & appreciate that they had a few drinks with ingredients that aren't often featured in other cafes, including mugwort & blue milk. I ordered the banana pudding matcha & altered it to be 50% sweet while my friend got the mugwort matcha duo. We both absolutely loved our drinks. Daydrift will be hearing from us again, because we want to try their other options! read more

Visited twice already and survived the parking lot lol, this is worth the matcha, the flavors compliment instead of take over the matcha itself, that's always my issue with viral matcha places where it tastes like glorified milk but Daydrift just gets it right The wait goes by really fast, just really hard to find where to wait or to sit, it's a small shop not offering too much to rest and hang out unfortunately. But it's located in the camp so you can take your drink and walk around the plaza to find a place to chat! read more

Parking at the camp is always a struggle, so you may want to drop off your passenger while you circle the lot. The shop itself is very small, but it has a nice outdoor patio. There was a short line, but people waiting for their order can confuse you as to who's waiting. Staff was nice and recommended me the banana pudding matcha over the hojicha matcha. We got the banana pudding matcha and the strawberry yuzu matcha. The banana pudding matcha was a 3/5. My main issues were that the pudding just sat as a clump in the middle of the drink and overall it was way too sweet to where I couldn't really enjoy the matcha. The strawberry yuzu matcha was better 4/5. Still on the sweet side and very strawberry forward. The yuzu was nearly non-existent. It took halfway through the drink to finally get a hint of it. The drinks are pretty, but I think they are too sweet. I wish the menu was more flexible as they hide the "basic drinks" in the corner, but don't list possible add ons. read more

My sisters and I tried the Pandan Matcha Latte. Overall presentation was very pretty, and the cream top was delicious. It tasted like homemade whipped cream, and the drink itself was more matcha forward than pandan forward but I enjoyed it. The taste reminded me of Binge Coffee Pandan Matcha in Berkeley. The service was good and the cashier was polite. The ambiance of the cafe was very relaxing and breezy. It's a nice place to chat with friends in the shade, and there's a couple seats inside where you can study. We went at 1:50pm on a Wednesday and there was no wait. Once we left at 2:16 it got pretty busy. I rate the drink a 8/10, and would come again if I was in the area. Very pretty drinks and the space is nice. read more

One of my favorite matcha spots! Staff is very friendly, the drinks are so tasty, my boyfriend loved his banana matcha (not pictured). It does not have the artificial banana taste that I don't like. The pandan matcha has a good balance of both. A very cute outside seating place to sit and talk. Would definitely recommend! read more

This is probably one of the best matcha's I've had. The Pandan Matcha had perfect amount of sweetness and the cream top was delicious and super creamy. Super nice and quick service. Wow Wow wow. One of my FAVORITE matcha cafes in OC. Starting with the staff the service is okay didn't get much of a greeting or even introduction so go go go since it's usually crowded and packed all the time. The drinks on the other hand are 10/10. The banana matcha was super flavorful and the cold foam was so thick and creamy almost just like a banana pudding consistency. The matcha quality is very good as well. Definitely will be coming back ! read more

Another trendy new coffee shop that doesn't quite live up to the hype for me. They seem to specialize in matcha, so coffee options were pretty limited - but they're pretty receptive to custom requests/drink modifications (e.g., will sub espresso for matcha). I ended up getting the drift cream coffee (without the cream top), which is supposed to be similar to Vietnamese coffee, and it was stronger than I expected - not bad, but nothing special either. Also tried the pandan matcha, which was a bit too sweet for my liking, so I'd recommend adjusting the sweetness level. That said, I'm a fan of how pretty the drinks are, and I appreciate that they go light on the ice. One thing to note is that the parking lot is very small. I got lucky finding a spot right in front, but it was a really tight fit. Overall, a cute spot to try, especially if you're into matcha~ read more
