Daydrift had caught my attention for quite a while with their beautiful lattes adorned with vibrant flowers and elegant dehydrated fruit garnishes. This afternoon, I decided to take my laptop and perch there for a couple of hours to try one of their matcha lattes. The cafe is located in a corner of The Camp plaza in Costa Mesa. Parking on a Friday afternoon was such a headache that I decided to valet for $5. In this modern plaza, the branches and vines that twist through Daydrift's trellises make this verdant oasis stand out amidst the monolithic retail units that surround it. Although there are only a few tables available, I was able to snag one. Sitting in the patio area was quite nice. There is also wifi and a bathroom available. The workers are very nice. I wanted something a little less sweet, so they recommended the pandan matcha. I got that with oat milk. My sister got the pandan blue milk. Although the drinks are visually stunning, their flavor leaves a bit to be desired for me. Even though I substituted dairy for oat milk, my latte was still too milky for my tastes and the matcha flavor was not strong enough. I am also not the biggest fan of the flavor of the pandan extract (or however they are adding the pandan flavor) as it tasted a bit too grassy for me. I have the same comment for the blue pandan milk. I'm glad I gave this place a try, but I believe that there are better places to get matcha in Orange County.
Wow I actually enjoyed this place! Yelp had an event at The Camp for Yoga and afterwards I wanted to find a spot for some tasty matcha! I was torn between and Chafinity but decided to go with trendy and aesthetics. Glad I did. I totally enjoyed it! They had some great selections for matcha and coffee. I asked what they recommend and I wanted something sweeter so I went with the Banana Matcha. It was sweet and had the perfect caramelized banana and so cutely garnished! They had some seating indoors and outdoor seating but they were all full by 1030am on a Friday! Kinda crazy but at least The Camp has lots of nooks with seating. Enjoyed the matcha! Definitely will come back if I'm in the area to try other items! They also had this delicious looking cookie! I was so tempted!
So glad we found this place!! We were browsing at the shops nearby and happened to past by. The space is so cute and nicely decorated. The star of their menu is definitely their matcha selection but they also sell coffee and a few dessert treats like banana pudding, cookies, etc. There's some seats inside and also inconsistent they small outdoor space. While the seats are not very comfortable, the place is great for photos! My friend and I got the guava strawberry matcha and the banana pudding matcha. Both were super good! The guava strawberry matcha is so refreshing and sweet, but not overly. The banana pudding matcha is really creamy and comes with biscoff crumbles! Plenty of parking spaces!
I really enjoy their cream tops and that's coming from someone who's usually not a fan of them. My main qualm with cream tops is they are typically too creamy and sweet and overpoweringly vanilla-y. I like daydrifts' because the unique asian insoired flavors still come through but are still refreshing and not overly sweet. My favorite so far has been the mugwort but the hojicha matcha is a close second. I'd recommend taking a light sip of the cream top and then mixing the whole drink together.
I don't usually write reviews for cafe but I loved the drinks here! First of all it's super cute and while there's only a bit of seating they're all pretty nice spots. I got the Pandan blue milk which was sweet but hit the spot. We also had the drift cream coffee which was strong but also sweet. I do hear good things about the matcha here too!
Yet another beautiful coffee shop in Costa Mesa! Located in The CAMP, Daydrift is a super aesthetic spot serving up gorgeous matcha and coffee. Seriously, every drink is so meticulously prepared with the cutest toppings! We got their Strawberry Yuzu Matcha Latte and Drift Cream Coffee. I haven't seen the strawberry and yuzu combo often. It was really bright and paired well with the solid matcha! Their Drift Cream Coffee was creamy, not-too-sweet, and hit all the right notes. Love!
Cute little coffee shop Small parking lot but there's good amount of spots. There's some seating but more of a grab and go. There were 2 girly pops working that were super sweet and got our drinks out fast. Always on the hunt for delicious banana coffee and this one was a HIT they used REAL BANANAS lots of fun signature drinks.
I saw so many artsy beautiful photos of the matchas here and book-marked it for a while, and finally made it last month to check it out myself. They replaced Honey&Milk that was here in the past. Didn't do much to interior change but the drinks are pleasing on the eyes. I feel like the owner of this place but love art and was able to open a matcha shop with such beautiful creation for their drinks. I do appreciate the work and effort that was put into making it drinks. Thanks to that, lines are pretty long during peak hours.. My friend and I stopped by on an early Sunday morning before the rush, and there was no line. I got the Hojicha Matcha and my friend got the pandan matcha. Both were very instagram-worthy. Very pretty. Taste wise, it was good. Since matcha cream-top becomes such a thing now in the recent years, most places offer cream top (I mean, even Starbucks has it on their regular menu now, talk about the influence), and I've had soooo many different coffee and matcha with different cream top that, to sum it up, there's only 3 level. Good, average, and bad. If places use good ceremonial grade matcha, and use the right ratio of milk/water/to matcha, the matcha can be pretty consistent, no matter what kind of ceremonial grade "brand" it is. Because if they get it from Japan at the Matcha capital (Uji), there are different names but basically they harvest and process the powder very consistent to the method. Anyway, in short, the matcha latter part here with oatmilk was good. it was between average to good. What sets most places apart now is also the cream top. The cream-top here is also good. So, that makes this place overall, Good. So, def rec. Though, I gotta stop trying all these matcha with cream-top places now because even if non-dairy cream foam top, you know how much calories are in them????? It's crazy!
Daydrift is hype appropriate!! Unfortunately the matcha isn't super rich in some drinks, but the wide variety of flavor combinations and cream tops available make their drinks SO delicious! My personal favorites of our drinks in order were: banana pudding, pandan and then strawberry yuzu. Each were yummy in their own ways but there is a reason that the banana pudding matcha is their best seller (and I don't even like banana). Just heads up that the fruitier flavors may overpower the matcha. The edible flowers are the cutest touch here! 4.5 stars rounded up to a 5.
Love the options here, especially with matcha! I got the banana coffee matcha creamtop. The coffee is good, and the matcha creamtop is great! They also have a lot of drinks with pandan, which is unique. There's some seating but not much. Drinks are on the expensive side, but that is to be expected for anywhere in The Camp. They replaced Milk & Honey, who previously used to be here.
I got the Banana Pudding Matcha, and it was really good! I was a little skeptical at first because I wasn't sure how banana pudding in a matcha would taste. They actually put real banana pudding in the drink, and I was pleasantly surprised, It was really good. It's definitely on the sweeter side, so don't count the calories with this one, just enjoy it. It was also under $8. The drink came with a yummy cookie as decoration. The service was great. The lady at the register was very nice and helpful. Since it was my first time here, I asked for a recommendation, and she suggested the Banana Pudding Matcha, saying it was one of their most popular drinks. I'm glad I took her advice. The coffee shop itself is very small it's more of a grab-and-go spot. There are only a couple of tables available (like 4 if I don't recall wrong) so I wouldn't count on finding seating. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the restrooms were pretty dirty when I visited. They definitely need to be cleaned more often. Maybe I just happened to go in at a bad time, but it did affect my overall experience.
Drinks were spectacular! They are all beautiful presented with a unique sight in each and every drink. The place is a bit small but it does have some sort of extension which gives it a bit of room. Service was also really great and efficient. I love their menu as it's so pleasing to the eye and presents all their drinks beautifully.
4/5 Cute little cafe with a cozy vibe, but definitely keep in mind that parking is super limited and the space itself is very small. There is some seating available, but it's better suited for small groups of 2-3 people rather than studying or hanging out for long periods of time. I got the pandan matcha and really enjoyed it. The texture was smooth and not grainy at all, and the sweetness level was balanced perfectly. Neither the pandan nor the matcha overpowered each other, which I appreciated. I personally would've liked the matcha flavor to be a little stronger, but you could still definitely taste it. Overall, a really solid drink and I'd come back to try more from their menu.

My sisters and I tried the Pandan Matcha Latte. Overall presentation was very pretty, and the cream top was delicious. It tasted like homemade whipped cream, and the drink itself was more matcha forward than pandan forward but I enjoyed it. The taste reminded me of Binge Coffee Pandan Matcha in Berkeley. The service was good and the cashier was polite. The ambiance of the cafe was very relaxing and breezy. It's a nice place to chat with friends in the shade, and there's a couple seats inside where you can study. We went at 1:50pm on a Wednesday and there was no wait. Once we left at 2:16 it got pretty busy. I rate the drink a 8/10, and would come again if I was in the area. Very pretty drinks and the space is nice. read more
Matcha Mugwort Duo - matcha latte with mugwort pandan cream! I got it unsweetened & thought it was perfect because the pandan cream is sweet already. I think the matcha could be better because you can't taste it much, & I wish they had more non-dairy milk options (they only have oat). But I really enjoyed the mugwort pandan flavor! Also, I'm in trouble, because I tried the viral Chewy Dubai Cookie (chocolate mochi packed with dense pistachio kataifi inside), & I enjoyed it much more than I expected to! I thought it would be overhyped but it was actually really good & not too sweet, which I always appreciate. It's so expensive, though, $8 for one! Would I get it again? Probably, lol, but only as a treat given the price. read more

Amazing drink, FRUSTRATING parking We stopped by Daydrift at The CAMP in Costa Mesa to try their strawberry yuzu matcha--and wow, the drink absolutely delivered. It was refreshing, well-balanced, and honestly worth the $7.50 price tag. The space itself is super cute, with a shaded seating area that makes it a nice little spot to hang out. Service was quick and easy, and the cashier was friendly. Just a heads up: they're cashless, so come prepared. Now... let's talk about parking. Parking at The CAMP--especially near this spot--is rough. There are only a handful of spaces, and during lunchtime it's completely packed. It was so bad that people were double parking (hazards on... or not), creating a chaotic situation. There's even a red line where you're not supposed to park, but that didn't stop anyone. Backing out in our SUV turned into a whole ordeal. We were basically stuck until someone who double parked (very crooked, by the way) finally came back and moved their car. It took several minutes and honestly killed the vibe. Bottom line: Amazing drinks Cute atmosphere + easy ordering Parking is a complete nightmare I'm glad I tried it, but honestly, I wouldn't go back solely because of the parking. If you're lucky enough to find a spot, it's worth trying--but for me, the hassle outweighs the hype. read more
The drinks are so pretty to look at! There was a line when we arrived after lunch, it's located near the CAMP and I got lucky and found parking directly in front. The baristas were nice and accommodating despite the working through a ton of orders. There's a small area to sit outside but with the popularity of this cafe, it's even hard to find a spot to stand in. The drinks itself were very sweet in my opinion. I visited Daydrift on a Saturday mid-afternoon with a friend. As usual, the parking lot was very crowded & there were no spots open when we first drove in, but we were very lucky because we noticed that a car was pulling out shortly after we arrived. This was my third time attempting to visit Daydrift since the line was way too long the past couple times. Fortunately, there was no line this visit--there still wasn't any spots open to sit down, but it was no worries since we weren't planning on staying anyway. I liked how many plants they had to decorate the space & the lively ambiance. I thought that they had great selection & appreciate that they had a few drinks with ingredients that aren't often featured in other cafes, including mugwort & blue milk. I ordered the banana pudding matcha & altered it to be 50% sweet while my friend got the mugwort matcha duo. We both absolutely loved our drinks. Daydrift will be hearing from us again, because we want to try their other options! read more

Parking was difficult. Despite the big lot there's often a lot of people in this area so it makes finding a spot hard. Matcha was good but not strong and tasted milky! The seating is limited but the outside area is nice. Probably wouldn't come back again due to parking. read more
You can tell this place just opened. I ordered their most popular drink, the banana pudding matcha, and they were remaking the banana pudding, which backed up all the orders. Everyone ended up waiting on banana pudding drinks, and once they were ready, order numbers were called out randomly, which was chaotic. The matcha itself wasn't very strong--the banana and mugwort flavors completely overpowered it--and the drink wasn't very cold. read more

I saw this cafe all over my for you page as they were going viral for their aesthetic drinks and it definitely lives up to the visuals. The line is long but it moves relatively fast so don't worry! I enjoyed the pandan matcha a lot and so did my mom. Although the banana pudding matcha looked amazing, it fell short in taste for me. If you're confused of where this is, it's located in the old Milk & Honey location, so parking is quite limited. The owner is the sweetest person ever and always makes our experience enjoyable. I heard they'll be expanding their menu so I can't wait to come back and try more then! read more

first of all, their entire menu is clearly ai generated which is already a red flag. that signals to customers that this place does not value work ethic and authenticity. second, this place seems like it just wants to be a place for people to take instagram pictures, which is exactly what we saw when we came in. it was full of high schoolers taking pictures and just being in the way. the store is already very small with limited seating, and we had a hard time trying to make our way inbetween people who were not paying attention to their surroundings. it was a very overstimulating environment, for a place that seems to market itself as a quiet, aesthetic getaway. third, the drink we got was very strange. the matcha taste was extremely mild (it just tasted like sweet milk), and there were weird toppings that didn't make any sense to us. there was exactly two pieces of cereal??, a flower, a citrus slice (which we thought was yuzu, but friends say it just looks like a tangerine..), a cream top which overpowered the entire drink, and then extra matcha powder on top (which sadly added no extra flavor). bonus points for presentation, but it felt like a drink meant for a kid. everything was just very underwhelming and didn't actually add anything to the drink. overall, we probably won't be back. read more

Wow Wow wow. One of my FAVORITE matcha cafes in OC. Starting with the staff the service is okay didn't get much of a greeting or even introduction so go go go since it's usually crowded and packed all the time. The drinks on the other hand are 10/10. The banana matcha was super flavorful and the cold foam was so thick and creamy almost just like a banana pudding consistency. The matcha quality is very good as well. Definitely will be coming back ! read more
My bestie and I visited Daydrift during their soft opening weekend and had the BEST time with their baristas and cashiers who are all sweethearts, as well as the patio and indoor seats around a modern and slightly hipster ambiance. All the menu items take Uji ceremonial grade matcha, Madagascar-imported vanilla bean, Thai-imported Pandan leaves, Korean-imported mugwort, and house-made syrups to provide all kinds of creative and beautiful matcha and coffee drinks!! what we ordered: strawberry yuzu matcha latte: with rich matcha, a sweet and slightly tart yuzu and strawberry layer at the bottom, and some matcha cream, this was one of the best strawberry lattes we've ever had!! (10/10) banana pudding matcha with oat milk: it's disclosed early on, but this drink is not sweetened at all and instead the banana pudding matcha is the vehicle for the sugar and creaminess. This is perfect for anyone who wants stronger matcha, but you may want to add syrup or sugar if you prefer a sweeter drink! I also found the banana pudding relatively mild compared to the strawberry and yuzu jam + other banana puddings/cream tops I've had, but the Uji matcha truly shines (8/10) Pandan blue mylk with oat milk: what a stunning and refreshing drink! The yogurt pretzel and herb garnish were adorable and the vivid blue and lavender colors made the mylk too pretty to drink. But this turned out to be one of our favorites with how perfectly sweet and delicate it is, but the most attractive one of the bunch! (10/10) read more
New matcha spot at the Camp OC! I ordered the matcha latte sweetened with vanilla syrup and with matcha cold foam. I thought the drink was too sweet, so I would order it less sweet next time. All the drinks are super cute and come with toppings. Mine came with a sugar cookie and a dried orange slice. The inside is small but there is an outdoor area. I ordered the banana coffee with the matcha creamtop and oat milk. It was definitely on the sweeter side, but the banana flavor paired surprisingly well with the coffee. Unfortunately, the matcha creamtop was grainy, with bits of unwhisked matcha powder floating around. While the initial taste was enjoyable, the drink started to develop a slightly metallic note as it sat. I recommend consuming the drink as soon as possible so the coffee/matcha doesn't oxidize. Also, the ice melted pretty quickly and the coffee was lukewarm within 5 minutes. This would've been amazing as a Vietnamese coffee and without the matcha creamtop. Overall, it's a decent drink and customer service was good. read more

One of my favorite matcha spots! Staff is very friendly, the drinks are so tasty, my boyfriend loved his banana matcha (not pictured). It does not have the artificial banana taste that I don't like. 50 sweet pandan matcha latte yum. they hand whisk their matcha a bit pricey for a regular size at 7.5 without any additions a lil gritty but with every matcha a few straw twirls are necessary wait time was 15 minutes at 9:30 AM on a saturday :P but lots of parking available and good amt of seating but small space read more

The pandan matcha & banana pudding matcha are soooo bomb! Priced at $7.50 each. Love the drink presentation. Both drinks were matcha bold and balanced with the right amount of sweetness & creaminess. Drinks came out pretty quickly, despite small lines. Small shop with some tables to sit. Parking can be a challenge. read more

Visited twice already and survived the parking lot lol, this is worth the matcha, the flavors compliment instead of take over the matcha itself, that's always my issue with viral matcha places where it tastes like glorified milk but Daydrift just gets it right The wait goes by really fast, just really hard to find where to wait or to sit, it's a small shop not offering too much to rest and hang out unfortunately. But it's located in the camp so you can take your drink and walk around the plaza to find a place to chat! read more

Parking at the camp is always a struggle, so you may want to drop off your passenger while you circle the lot. The shop itself is very small, but it has a nice outdoor patio. There was a short line, but people waiting for their order can confuse you as to who's waiting. Staff was nice and recommended me the banana pudding matcha over the hojicha matcha. We got the banana pudding matcha and the strawberry yuzu matcha. The banana pudding matcha was a 3/5. My main issues were that the pudding just sat as a clump in the middle of the drink and overall it was way too sweet to where I couldn't really enjoy the matcha. The strawberry yuzu matcha was better 4/5. Still on the sweet side and very strawberry forward. The yuzu was nearly non-existent. It took halfway through the drink to finally get a hint of it. The drinks are pretty, but I think they are too sweet. I wish the menu was more flexible as they hide the "basic drinks" in the corner, but don't list possible add ons. read more

My friend and I went when they first opened, the line took about 30 min. The drinks were delicious and had an Instagram worthy aesthetic. They worked very fast so our drink came out in like 5 min despite having a like out the door. The space is quite small inside so I would def pick up the drink for Togo. Would def come again if the line isn't too long. read more

Another trendy new coffee shop that doesn't quite live up to the hype for me. They seem to specialize in matcha, so coffee options were pretty limited - but they're pretty receptive to custom requests/drink modifications (e.g., will sub espresso for matcha). I ended up getting the drift cream coffee (without the cream top), which is supposed to be similar to Vietnamese coffee, and it was stronger than I expected - not bad, but nothing special either. Also tried the pandan matcha, which was a bit too sweet for my liking, so I'd recommend adjusting the sweetness level. That said, I'm a fan of how pretty the drinks are, and I appreciate that they go light on the ice. One thing to note is that the parking lot is very small. I got lucky finding a spot right in front, but it was a really tight fit. Overall, a cute spot to try, especially if you're into matcha~ read more

Newly open cafe in Costa Mesa near the camp. Located where Milk and Honey used to be. Menu has a small selection but very unique flavors. I ordered the banana coffee with matcha foam and the natural banana syrup + the foam with biscoff crumbles were a perfect blend. The matcha portion wasn't as dominant as I'd like but they're new so I'm giving them some time to find their groove. Also right across the street from my workplace so I'll be back :) read more

Daydrift is a great new addition to the OC café scene, recently opened at The Camp. They offer a variety of unique drinks topped with cute garnishes. There's a small patio outside along with a few seats indoors. We ordered the pandan matcha latte and the banana pudding match - both were perfectly sweetened with bold, well-balanced flavors. i got the pandan matcha for $7.50. it's a bit pricey for what it's worth. the taste was good in the beginning but after awhile, it started to taste ok. pandan coconut matcha tasted better. this place is small with limited seating. luckily, the line was short and service was a bit slow but friendly. overall, it's a convenient spot if you're nearby but i wouldn't go out of my way to get it. read more
