It is smooth, bold, and rich. A great balance umami and natural sweetness. One thing I really like is that they use non-sweetened milk alternatives (unsweetened oat milk and soy milk). I love unsweetened matcha latte, but almost all places use sweetened milk alternatives. Their matcha comes unsweetened so make sure to add sweeteners if you can't tolerate the original matcha taste. Their staff are all very friendly and welcoming. All their matcha is hand whisked! The place can get quite crowded. The garden-like design is very unique and enjoyable. Some of the tables are taken up by other people just hanging out at the camp so it might be hard to find a table. BUT I would most likely not come here again. Very nice tea house and the staff was very kind. Definitely a long 20 minute line if you go at lunch on a Saturday. I recommend going with someone so they can grab a table while you wait in line. I don't think Chafinity is as enjoyable if you get your drink to-go. The ambiance of sitting down cannot be replaced. Unfortunately, they gave me the wrong tea for my teapot, the Gyokuro, but it was still good. They give you enough hot water for 3 teapot refills. I'll have to double-check my tea before drinking but hard to blame them when it was so busy. I enjoyed the strawberry diafuku by Hanaichi Mochi the best. It's very cool of Chafinity to partner with a local mochi company that is at the Orange and Irvine Farmers Market. The other mochis were very cute but could not compare to the strawberry supremacy. I've been obsessing over Chafinity since they were just doing farmers markets on the weekends. I was so excited when they started selling their matcha powder at Mitsuwa and doing pop-ups at The Camp before permanently settling there. Chafinity is different from other matcha spots in the area. Everything feels very intentional -- from how they make the matcha, to the ingredients they use, to even the music they play. This is one of the few places I've been to where all the matcha are hand-whisked and you can see the worker prepares your drink through the clear glass. The drink isn't rushed. It's carefully crafted to your liking. The prices are a bit high, but you are paying for the quality. Service is great. The workers are always so helpful with recommendations without overselling. My sister and I had been obsessing over this place on IG for the longest time, so we finally made it happen and honestly, it did not disappoint! The moment we walked in, it felt like we were transported straight to Japan. Given that the wait was long and it was gonna take a while for me to get my order, I didn't expect much until I waited 40 minutes till I didn't get my Matcha latte. Came on a weekday around noon and there was no wait (saw that there was a long wait on weekends). The camp is always busy in terms of parking even mid day on a weekday the lot was pretty full and we had to circle around once to find a spot. The overall ambiance is amazing! So cute and feels intimate with small tables under foliage. Service was also really good. Matcha itself was yummy however the milk kind of overpowers the matcha (they actually told us this about the oat milk and recommended almond milk instead which is lighter so we switched one of the drinks to almond milk) but next time would probably go with just matcha tea without milk. The deserts were delicious though!! The strawberry on the strawberry daifuku was so sweet and ripe and the mochi was so soft. Come early because they run out - we got the last sesame mochi on a Tuesday around noon and it was sooo yummy highly recommend. It's a lovely place to drink matcha and chat with friends. We love Chafinity! Took two tries to make it work but indeed we did. First time we went on a Saturday afternoon and the line was so long I didn't feel like pretending it was Disneyland. Second time came back at an off time, say Wednesday at 3p and success. Were able to order after waiting in queue for only about 5 mins. Ordered two iced matcha lattes with walnut milk and it hit. The drink wasn't as matcha forward as we would have liked but the milk tasted so good that we didn't mind the milk forwardness. They had another milk add-on with a $3 upcharge (wild!!) but I think have recently updated it to $2 (still wild!). Prices are not for the faint here at Chafinity. I had seen a lot of reviews mentioning their long wait times, etc but am lucky to have not experienced this. Perhaps they're getting better at keeping up with their demand. The matcha shop competition continues with Chafinity which recently opened in the CAMP plaza. Although some of the pricing is on the pricier side, I do think for the most part, the experience and flavors are worthwhile. First, not a fault of Chafinity but if it's your first time coming to the CAMP plaza, you should be aware that parking is pretty scarce, especially around the busier lunch periods. There is valet for $6 available as another option. Chafinity itself is an outdoors cafe that is near the back of the CAMP area. Loved the decor and ambiance with a very peaceful vibe and great set-up/stall that has some merchandise/matcha powder as you get near the cashier. On a Saturday, yes, it was pretty busy. The line was out the entry area and took about 20 minutes (ish). That also means that tables in the vicinity are a little tough to come by. Some people waited + hovered around, but there was also at least a lot of areas to roam around. Let's talk about what we got!: *Matcha latte: The matcha latte was solid for me. They had either oat milk or some homemade nut milks that were interesting! They also give samples for the nut milks as well. I ended up going with the oat and the strawberry mochi. The matcha wasn't too earthy and the oat milk didn't overpower. I also didn't go with any syrup, but they did have some near the napkins if you needed to add them. *Mochi: They had several different kinds of mochi from strawberry to black sesame as well as some weekly specials. I think the black sesame was good and the weekly special. I thought the strawberry was the weakest of the ones we tried since it was just a big strawberry on top of a regular red bean filled mochi. *Yuzu matcha: This was a fizzy drink with sparkling water, maple syrup, yuzu, and matcha. I also adjusted the sweetness to 50%. I'm assuming it is the sweetness adjustment but unfortunately didn't work for me. I could only really taste the sparkling water and a little bit of the matcha and not much of the yuzu. Would recommend either going with the full sweetness. All-in-all, would definitely come back if I'm in the area! read more

It is a very small cute authentic Japanese teahouse. not really much seating The Matcha is basic in terms of just Matcha and milk. The only sweeteners they have are a maple syrup and honey. There are no fruit flavors. The milks our homemade, but the oat milk is rice based so I ordered the almond which I didn't care for. My only downfall with this place is after I ordered and paid, the girl told me it would be a 30 minute wait which would've been nice to know prior to ordering. Parking here is rough at times, but it really depends on the day and time you come. They are located right next to the Seed Peoples Market. Wifey and I pulled up around 11am and it was about a 25 minute wait until we ordered. They have about 7-8 tables for seating right in front of the shop. For their menu, they have matcha, hojicha, and tea drinks with all of their ingredients being sourced from Japan. We ended up trying the Hojicha Latte and the Matcha Latte and could definitely taste the quality in it. All of the staff here are very friendly and helpful. What a lovely little hidden gem in The Camp. It's delightful to find a place that's serious about serving traditional matcha. I ordered the House Matcha and wagashi, and it was delicious. The matcha piccolo with honey and soy milk was just okay. It tasted a bit watered down and lacking oomph. The real star of the show was the cinnamon roll, which was absolutely delicious. Totally unique, one of a kind tiny tea house in a simplicity setting in the corner in the Camp area. Line is long since the weekend and holiday. Menu is simply and some items can run out fast. There are plenty of tables underneath the trees or sounding the area that you can seat and enjoy the tea or coffee matcha. Price wise, can be on the high end but worth it. Parking was a hassle and hectic for us but finally we found a space (10mins). The service is jind, gentle, friendly and sincerely. You can see or/and watch how your drinks are made. Overall it was wonderful experience and make us want to visit Japan again, especially Kyoto. read more

Chafinity, a ceremonial matcha experience I won't forget: Stepping inside felt like entering a traditional Japanese matcha house beautiful and serene, I was greeted with the friendly cashier in a kimono and guided to try the Midori Uji matcha latte (house & premium). Through a small window, matcha baristas moved with grace, whisking bright and vibrant green tea using traditional tools, a bamboo whisk, the wooden ladle. That was really the highlight is watching them make the drinks. So much art and beauty behind it! Feels like you are really in Japan! The taste was so rich and authentic, perfectly balanced with their house-made almond-coconut milk. Paired with a warm sourdough cinnamon roll. perfection!! More than a drink it was an experience.
