After multiple visits, I would say that Re Ca Phe tends to be a hit or miss. I've ordered their Earl Grey Matcha, Hojicha Latte w/ extra Hojicha, Marble Coffee and Blueberry Orange Tea. Re Ca Phe specializes in Vietnamese Coffee. "Re" depending on content usually means slow or slowly. I personally see it as a negative growing up. However I imagine the business owners probably has it meaning slow down to enjoy their coffee and take it easy. Not a concept I understand growing up in America. We were in this plaza supporting another business when my boyfriend saw this coffee shop in the corner of the plaza and he was intrigued to come in. I'm down! They have limited seating inside and a small outdoor patio, that they were struggling to set up a TV for during the world cup. It was really crowded and stuffy. My boyfriend ordered the Vietnamese Coffee | 8 oz. ($5) and we were immediately warned it would come in this tiny cup. They were really busy so the drink actually took forever to be ready. That "re re" in action. In a bad way. When we got the drink, the drink itself didn't even fill that tiny cup. I was ready for the small 8 oz. portion but I don't feel like we got the full 8 oz. That tiny cup was mostly ice. Coffee was okay. Strong in a good way to me. Stay away if you don't enjoy strong coffee. I was disappointed with the matcha here considering how popular this coffee shop is. I got the Black Sesame Matcha and it was pretty mid. There wasn't much matcha flavor and volume. It was pretty milky. The black sesame flavor was good and nutty. However, I wasn't a fan of the large grainy bits in the drink. The drinks are also on the pricier side, similar to what you would see in LA which doesn't really match the area and other nearby coffee shops. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a bathroom available. For parking, there's a good amount of free parking in the lot. The café itself has both indoor and outdoor seating, and the whole space feels cozy and aesthetic, making it such a nice place to just sit and take in the atmosphere. Not many places offer this combination, so whenever I see it on a menu, I have to try it. What I really liked about this one is how well balanced it is. I really wish I had had the same experience that others have clearly had at Re Ca Phe. I visited on a Saturday morning to get coffee for the whole fam. The line was decently long and most of the seating was taken. In total, I ordered 7 drinks: 2 matchas, 2 Vietnamese coffees, a latte, a shakerato, and a pour over. Certain drinks were not able to be adjusted to preference. My boyfriend's pour over was $10. We waited a few extra minutes for it (not a problem, it was busy and we had a lot of drinks). By the time he took his first sip, his whole face just dropped. The coffee itself looked like tea and the cup was not even 60% full!! If I'm paying $10 for a coffee that you won't even add a splash of milk to, I at least expect it to be full?? This cafe is legit and is a great shop in OC. For its high ratings, I am surprised it was not more crowded. We stopped in on a weekday mid morning and did not have to wait to order. We had a large order and had to wait a little bit for all of the drinks, but it was worth it. The cost is not much higher than visiting other chain coffee shops. It must be my lucky day, because we're stopping by Re Ca Phe! It's a really cute spot in Fountain Valley, and they're serving everything up and down the gamut of coffee, from Vietnamese to some of these! Walking into the shop, you're greeted with a dark gray concrete vibe with plenty of matching decor. They've got some multiroaster vibes too, which means they're slinging beans like Dak, La Cabra, and more! Robusta and Arabica heads can both rejoice! They've also got a nice little patio to just rest and relax at while you enjoy your drinks. I've had a few pretty deep conversations coming out of this place. Okay, even though I did come to a coffee shop, I did end up getting a hojicha latte that was roasty, nutty, and delicious alongside the vanilla notes that they add. Great choice for some of you who don't do so well with caffeine. It's easy to drink, and thoughtfully prepared! I got something a little different. It was a strawberry co-ferment espresso in a cappuccino ratio. You could really taste that strawberry come through, and having it hot and with milk was a perfect choice. Fruity, complex, and funky! Love to see places serving co-ferments. I don't think it's over-played in specialty coffee, and I do appreciate having the option! This being my first time there, I wasn't sure what to expect. As I walked in the Vibe was really nice with good music. I liked it because it wasn't really packed like other places or you can't even relax. There's plenty of space to relax in door and out. The drinks all looked really good, we had the 8 ounce sesame seed latte and the Earl Grey latty, which is one of my favorites latty. They were so kind enough to use my own glass cup when asked. The baristas were all very pleasant when we ask them questions about the drinks. The coffee shop itself is very cute decor with light colors making it feel very airy.
