I had a very disappointing experience at this coffee shop. The drinks and food were ok, the service was poor, and the way customers were treated was very disrespectful. There was a young man--I'm not sure if he was the owner or the manager--who acted very bossy and arrogant, even toward customers. What bothered me the most was that several customers had already been sitting in a private room for quite some time. Suddenly, they were asked to leave because they were told the room was needed for an "important meeting" Later, I realized that the room was actually being used for a young woman to film a video. Asking customers who were already seated to leave just to make room for someone they considered more important was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. The attitude toward customers was unacceptable. I felt that regular customers were treated as less important simply because someone they considered a "VIP" arrived. I was very disappointed and will not be coming back. I wrote this review without hoping they would change because they have a lot of customers now and they believe that they don't need customers. This space is decorated very well and it is so spacious. This makes it an ideal location for hangouts, studying, or getting work done. It's a Scandinavian-inspired modern organic style that's very aesthetically appealing and comfortable. The menu is pretty varied and includes seasonal rotations. Offerings include unique combinations like yogurt cloud teas, Longanisa breakfast burritos, and watermelon matcha. A lot of coffee shops offer many of the same common drinks so I commend Kei for its unique creations. As for feedback, I'd appreciate it if the space was kept more consistently clean. I also find the systems here a little confusing like; any of the items on display would just be grabbed independently and I wasn't informed of this. I'm not from the OC so I can't comment too much like I can do for the Chubby Cattle Empire, but it's neat to see their businesses pop up and the vast variety that they endeavor to do culinary-wise. This place has been on my friends want to visit list and I wanted a pick me up and to grab a bite to eat to start out our day. It's located at the corner of an already fairly busy plaza with lots of eateries and other businesses there so parking can get a bit tough, but we were able to wait for somebody to leave and take their parking. Just keep this in mind if you go at an even busier time of day. There was a line to order, but there's different ways to order, either at their kiosk or with their cashier. While in line, you can take a look at their menu or at their merchandise which looks like it has the title card text from the Evangelion series. Very amusing. If you're local or are a fan, you can participate in their passport series and get, I believe, 6 stamps, to exchange for a tote bag. Cute art of some original characters and a tiger. Maybe they can duke it out with a Korean smoking tiger if they truly wished to do so. There's light bites here, fridge items, desserts, coffee, teas, matcha, etc. Some counter and bar seating, outdoor seating (all taken and super limited, but it was cute and pink), and lots of tables and chairs throughout, but it was packed when we went and packed when we left. Easily a very popular place to hang out or to get some work done. For our visit, we got the: 1) Vietnamese Coffee Aussie Series: -This is a Vietnamese coffee with a milk soft serve on top and Milo powder on top. Sweet and indulgent dessert-like drink. Nice coffee taste to it. -I got to enjoy the milk soft serve before mixing it into the coffee. It's a coffee float if anything and you can't go wrong with it. It's not overly sweet even with adding everything to it and I was able to sip it and enjoy it for a bit afterwards too. I would like to try other versions of this too. 2) Classic Egg Sando: -It's very light, bread is sweet. -It's pre-packaged in a plastic container. I've had better egg sandos at other cafes and at the maid cafe. The mayo is very, very light, and it's more of a snack than anything filling. I'd skip this. 3) Popcorn Chicken: -Asked for their five spice cayenne powder on the side and it comes with some yuzu mayo. -This was alright. Reminds me more of western style popcorn chicken in a nugget style, rather than the popcorn chicken that you would get at a boba place. Some of the pieces are in square pieces which is a bit strange looking. Slight crisp exterior, a bit bland even with pouring and shaking the entire powder onto it. Sauce made it a bit better. -Maybe getting the spicy version is the call. I took a sip of my friend's Banana Toffee Latte at no added sweetness to it. Nice subtle banana after taste. Finally tried Kei Coffee House even though it's so close to home! We decided to grab everything to go and take it to a picnic. We got the watermelon jasmine refresher and orange jasmine. Kei Coffee has the BEST banana matcha latte in OC. The quality of the drink is always consistent, never watered down or disappoints. I love that their banana matcha is super light, not too heavy, comes with oat milk, and has toffee bits that compliments the drink. I've tried a few other drinks from their menu which were also worth mentioning: double matcha latte and their triple coco thai tea. The double matcha latte was still really sweet without the double shot of matcha being too overpowering or bitter. Their triple coco thai tea was surprisingly really good since I normally don't like coco drinks. It felt more like a dessert since it was a little heavy and came with thai tea soft serve and coconut crisps that compliments the drink! I love that their menu has so many options to choose from: coffee, matcha, teas, food, and bakery items as well. I've heard a lot of good things about their bakery and food options! They also have one self-kiosk and two other cashiers who you can order with, so there's never any long lines or waits when I go. However, the cafe is always packed with people doing laptop work or just hanging out. The cafe is super spacious, has alot of tables and seats. It's super decorative, aesthetic, and clean. Drinks never take that long too since there always seems to be a good amount of baristas working on drinks. I LOVE Kei anything! All his concept restaurants are amazing and we love the coffee house just as much! We always make it a point to stop here multiple times when we are in SoCal. I love the matcha and hojicha lattes and all their iterations. The pastries are always changing to new and fresh ideas just like the menu. Today I ordered an iced matcha latte and decided to try it with macnut milk and condensed milk assuming it would make my drink even sweeter than I normally like it. it ended up tasting watered down to me and not sweet at all. When I went back to the counter, Fawstine (I know I spelled that wrong despite asking her to spell it out a few times! Sorry!) assisted me and explained the mac nut milk might be changing the taste. I told her it had no sweetness at all despite adding condensed milk. She offered to give me more condensed milk and told me to let her know. Unfortunately and surprisingly, it didn't sweeten the drink much. And likely my bad that i went with the macnut and deviated from my usual as is order. I told her this and she immediately offered to make me another drink. Within a couple minutes she handed me a new one. I appreciated her willingness to help and customer service forward attitude. I recently started going to Kei and I have to say, their drinks are so good! My favorite has to be the Triple Coconut Matcha. It's icy and refreshing with a sweet coconut flavor and just the right amount of matcha! The cafe itself is pretty big and spacious, but it can get really packed and seats can be scarce at times. If you plan to study here, I'd recommend getting here a little earlier in the day to grab a good spot. The AC is okay, but I've noticed it can get pretty warm around the corners and edges of the cafe. There's a parking lot and bathrooms which is always a plus! Stopped by around 10:30 AM on a Friday. It was busy, but the line moved quickly. The café is part of a larger parking lot, though it fills up fast. If you don't mind walking a little, parking is fine. Inside, there was plenty of seating, and even though it was noisy, it is still a popular place to work or study with good lighting. There were lots of people on laptops, and some outlets along the walls for charging. I tried the Sweet Corn Latte and the Pistachio Matcha Latte. The Sweet Corn Latte was aptly named. It was sweet, and the foam on top had a surprisingly authentic corn flavor. I also liked that they offer a decaf version, which isn't something every specialty coffee shop has. The Pistachio Matcha Latte was smoother and more subtle. The pistachio wasn't very strong, but it complemented the matcha nicely. If you enjoy matcha and don't want something overly sweet, it's a good choice. We also ordered the Popcorn Chicken, which ended up being one of the highlights. It was well-seasoned, crispy on the outside, and still tender inside. Definitely one of the better popcorn chickens I have had. I have NEVER had a bad drink here, which is honestly insane because most places have at least a few hits and misses. Not here. Yogurt Cloud drink? 10/10. Blueberry Yogurt Crush? 10/10. Triple Cloud Matcha? 10/10. Pandan Coconut Coffee? 10/10. And nothing is overly sweet, which I absolutely love. And don't even get me started on the food. Second time at Kei, and this visit we decided to try some of their new seasonal drinks! I ordered the Aussie Series - Vietnamese Coffee, which had a bold, rich Vietnamese coffee flavor topped with soft serve. Once the soft serve melted into the coffee, it became much sweeter, so keep that in mind if you prefer your coffee less sweet. We also tried the Strawberries & Cream Latte, which was on the sweeter side as well with a strong strawberry flavor throughout. Their spicy popcorn chicken continues to be our favorite! The chicken has a great texture, is well-seasoned, and the sauce pairs perfectly with it. I just wish it packed a little more heat. The only item that fell short was the ham and cheese croissant. It had a very small amount of ham inside, and more than half of the croissant was just plain bread. At $6.95, it didn't feel worth the price. The café itself is huge with plenty of seating, but it was still consistently busy even on a Thursday morning, so finding a spot can be tricky if you're picky. It can get pretty loud, though, so I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a quiet place to study. We stopped by at Kei Coffee House today. We ordered the Pandan Coconut Matcha and Hojicha Quattro Latte. Both were delicious. The drinks were so smooth - not grainy at all. It's more of a sweeter matcha, but I really enjoyed it. I could taste both the pandan and coconut. The hojicha was also soo yummy - nutty and not too sweet. The star of today's show was the warmed up walnut chocolate chip cookie. It literally hit all of our craving spots. Perfectly sweet with a nice flaky salt topped with it. Service was very quick and efficient. The whole place was packed so finding seating can be quite difficult on the weekend. This was our first stop for the weekend, for our cafe/foodie tour. My niece said I would love it especially because they had breakfast burritos lol. She knows me well. Salted cream Vietnamese coffee: Perfect pick me up and it tasted freshly brewed like a pour over 4. Classic egg sando: My cousin and I made room for this fluffy goodness. I've always watched people eating egg sandos on social media and I have yet to try one like this. This was a perfect balance of egg salad ans bread. 5. Corn cheese cookie : I figured my cousin would like this, but I was surprised how you could taste the corn cheese in it. It was consistent throughout. 6. I'm not even going to lie, the coffee and drinks are good, but the FOOD is imo better. I arrived at around noon on a Wednesday and it was packed! There's plenty of seating but each table was occupied so if you're planning on working/studying here i would suggest arriving early. It's located in a plaza so there's ample parking available. I originally ordered the earl gray matcha but the tea leaves on the top was so overpowering it tasted almost floral to me which was disappointing since I don't like floral flavors. I asked to get the corn matcha instead and it was pretty good. The corn syup they use has itty bitty bits of corn (im assuming) in it so that was a surprise. I didnt love the drink immediately but once everything was mixed I really came to enjoy it. Although, it didnt have a strong matcha flavor. I've been meaning to try Kei Coffee House after a lot of people were mentioning it and glad I had the opportunity to! I came on a Friday around 1pm I think? There wasn't too much of a wait at all, and there was plenty of seating. I really adore the interior and appreciated how clean it was. It is a comfortable spot to chat or to study! I originally came to try a drink, but somehow, I landed myself on their pandan coconut soft serve instead haha I really liked how they had a lot of unique flavors for their soft serve options! (*note, you have to order the soft serve with the counter instead of the self-kiosk) The pandan flavor was good and there were nice coconut flakes and meat in the middle of the ice cream! I wish there was a bit more in the size, but it was solid. I tried my friends' drinks; I forgot the flavors D: But they were alright. Kei Coffee House lives up to the hype. Despite being one of the busiest coffee shops around, the space is thoughtfully designed and spacious enough to handle the crowds without feeling overwhelming. The drinks were the real star. Easily some of the most curated and creative coffee beverages I've had. Every sip felt intentional, balanced, and expertly crafted. The menu offers a huge variety of unique options beyond your standard coffee shop lineup, making it difficult to choose just one. Both drinks we tried were an easy 10/10. The food offerings looked excellent as well, though we came primarily for the coffee. The only downside is parking, which can be challenging during peak hours due to the café's popularity. read more

Came in to try the Corn Matcha Latte, but found out it couldn't be made dairy-free :-( The cashier instead suggested the Strawberry Matcha (with oat milk), which had both strawberry purée and freeze dried strawberries in it! The drink was super strawberry forward that I actually wished more of the matcha flavor would have shined through. Beautiful cafe with lots of space to sit, work, and enjoy! read more

No surprise... ANOTHER winning establishment from the famous Kei Concept family! Just down a few blocks from the Brookhurst-Edinger corner... My friend had a double matcha & I had the Kinako matcha latte. Both delicious! We also took one of each cookie to go. The corn cheese was a good unique flavor choice! The ambiance is beautiful... no surprise! There are many laptop stations, comfortable seating areas & small tables just to chill. We went purposely during the middle of the day hoping to avoid the crowds, but even with that...the parking lot was mostly filled, however, fortunately... there wasn't a line. Went back again for the food and it was a winner. Enjoy the breakfast burrito that was loaded with egg, sausage, cheese, and potatoes. It was very hearty, flavorful, and well seasoned. The mango stick rice was sweet and delicious. read more

I went in today to try their new yogurt line and was so satisfied! I loved the "Yogurt Cloud Lychee Jasmine Tea" and the HK Egg Tart! Interior is super spacious with both inside and outside seating. The service was amazing - Shyra was super sweet and patient! Highly recommend stopping by here for a cafe date, study session, or a little pick me up! read more

I'm so in love with this place. Huge parking lot, huge inside, lots of seating but everything can and will fill up! Beautifully decorated cafe with all you could need. Service was great, happy to help and eager to recommend. Ordered Banana Toffee Latte (their default is oat milk, I got whole milk), a burrito with bacon and an egg tart. Everything was amazing. Both salsas come with the burrito and were delicious! Green has a kick to it but it tastes wonderful. Will absolutely come back to try more. read more
