I have been wanting to try Bake & Che dessert for a while but every time I drove by, there was always a long line so I always just drove off. Finally came here this weekend. Parking was quite challenging. When I finally found a spot, I was totally sweaty! Yes, even in the car with a/c because my hair is so long. Ordered one house special dessert and one tri-color che. They both were very good. The house didn't skimp on the toppings and mixture. Big plus. If you love sweets, I think you'd love this place. We got invited to lunch the next day at a nearby restaurant, so came back again to get the same things. It was refreshing and sweet-tooth satisfying on a hot day! :) The lines were long on both days but they moved fast. Service was good. read more

I have wanted to try this place out for so long - another TikTok find! It was one of the hot nights that we've been having so I took the fam for a dessert adventure! Upon arrival, there was a quick moving line that was out the door, so I knew we were in for a treat. It was a bit chaotic (and hot) in there, and since the standing area was quite small, it was a overstimulating. After much deliberation, we ordered the CT (Thai) for the kiddo, the Pandan Grass Jelly for the mister, and I went with the OG classic, BM (Three Color) - all with ice. I am sad to report that I thought it was "meh" -- I was so disappointed! Our desserts were lukewarm and not very refreshing at all. The ratio of milk/cream to toppings wasn't balanced -- there was way too much milk and very little topping. Maybe they were really busy or understaffed? I'm not sure. Stopped by Bake & Che for a quick cold refreshing treat after lunch with some friends. There's a self service ordering tablet and a few tables inside and outside for you to wait/enjoy your food at. Service was quick and we got our che pretty quickly after ordering. The inside isn't too fancy but it's nice and clean with maybe 2 or 3 tables and good AC inside. I got the C2. CT Thai with regular ice, less sweet. I tend to like things on the sweeter side so I think I'd stick with regular sweet next time. It was a perfect treat to cool down with, crunchy ice mixed in with the various jellies and fruits - though I will say it was a little less colorful and more jelly/ice than jackfruit/longan/pomegranate than I'd like for the price. It is not often you can find a dedicated Vietnamese che shop. I like the variety of desserts offered here. I always get the traditional che, which is made once you order. I also like that you can order online via Toast so it is ready for pickup. The ice chips hold up well and don't melt too fast. They will serve the ice separately if you are taking it to go so you can add and mix in when you are ready to eat it. Recommend. read more

One of the best Vietnamese chè, dessert places in Orange County! Was missing Vietnam on my recent medical mission visit so wanted some chè to round out my equally delicious Viet comfort meal. There is always a line out the door at this location. The quality of each dessert is excellent, desserts all delicious and authentic and space is clean and inviting. I had the house special C1 (always get the special bc it's special for a reason! lol. My husband got the pandan grass jelly C4. One daughter got the avocado C7 and other daughter got their signature flan cheesecake. I've tried many of their other desserts in previous visits and they were all equally delicious. I love the different textures and varieties of ingredients in each dessert. It's a burst of flavor and texture in your mouth! I also appreciate how fresh every ingredient and topping is. They give you these cute ice chunks separately so you can add once you eat for a fresh, unwatered down experience. I never knew I liked che until I came to this place. I used to hate che for its artificial taste, but I haven't had anything bad on this menu. I do have to say that I'm not the biggest fan of the baked goods but it's more of a personal preference. I would recommend the house special which has great durian flavor and a good variety of topping (love the toasted peanuts and jelly). Personally, I'm not a fan of the water chestnuts but they can always take it out for you. I also love the soy pudding which is both delicate and flavorful (reminds me of a really good douhua). One advice is to get the ice on the side if you're taking it out. read more

The store is very clean and well organized. The staff are nice and fast with orders. Our favorites are their jelly, che Thai and chè 3 colors. They are very good and refreshing, especially on hot days. Remember to order online in advance if you don't want to wait. Hopefully they will have more shade areas or umbrellas to chill outside if no more spaces inside. read more

Bake & Chè I like the bánh da lợn here because it isn't overly sweet. However, the colors of the cake look a bit too dark for my personal preference, which makes me slightly hesitant. I've tried the chè here as well. In my opinion, chè tastes much better with coconut milk rather than regular milk , it just gives a richer and more authentic flavor. Since Bake & Chè has multiple locations, I've noticed that every store I've visited is clean and well organized. Some staff members are extremely sweet and welcoming, while a few others don't seem very friendly. Parking is generally easy to find and not too difficult. (Bolsa Ave) PARKING Right near the entrance to the shopping center. There's plenty of parking all around SERVICE This place is ALWAYS busy, but the crew here is pretty well organized. I think that much of the slow down in the lines comes from customers. Not in a bad way, just in a "more" way. There are plenty of "grab and go" options in a refrigerator You can order online or at a kiosk in the store. You can also order in person. SEATING There is indoor and outdoor seating if you're planning to stay put. FOOD Apparently there also are vegan options. My wife loved the drink and pandan treat. I was really excited to try this place! As someone who loves Vietnamese dessert drinks and pastries, this was on my list. My initial impression - this is a great place as a barrier to entry to beloved Vietnamese sweets. To help you decide - there are pictures, descriptions, and the person taking your order speaks English. If you're new to this, the jellos and pastries are a great place to start. For drinks, just pick something that seems familiar. You can't go wrong and nothing will taste "bad", unless, you're feeling adventurous and want to try durian. Nothing is too sweet. The wait can be long. Plenty of seating indoors and right outside the shop but restroom is often filthy. If you want true authentic desserts, I want to say this place is very close. I do think some of the pastries and jellos are overpriced for the size. Otherwise, the drinks are good but not worth dealing with parking and a long wait at times. read more

This location is always crowded, but I think partially the layout of the ordering counter is literally about 10 feet from the entrance, so it can feel a bit hectic when it's busy, and a lot of times the customers blocks the kiosk, so you do t realize it's available. :(( Their specials are these baked flan and Thai desserts are my favorites. Everything tastes fresh and flavorful, and they offer a good selections of Vietnamese desserts to choose from. Perhaps I didn't order right items but not a fan of this place. We ordered the coconut smash and Thai Che. The coconut smash was alright, the chunks of coconut were too hard for my liking. I like my coconut meat soft and chewy. The Thai Che had assortment of jelly's and other chunks that threw off the flavor. I've had ches in other establishment and am usually a fan but this was not it. The interior is bright and clean which made it inviting. It was quite busy when we arrived. Got the House Special as the person at the counter said it was their most popular drink. It came with many different types of beans (red, white, mung), pandan jelly, jackfruit, and taro paste. Also came with durian so choose a different dessert if you don't like it. I really like the variety! The house milk on the bottom mixed really well with the other ingredients. I will ask for the ice on the side next time, as I thought it got too in the way as I made my way through it with a spoon. The staff is quick at the cashier though and you get your order fast as well. We got the flan cheesecake and pandan flan cheesecake. I had a very bad experience today. I drove almost two hours from San Diego because I received a message about a buy-one-get-one-free promotion for the chè today. I wanted to buy several drinks to give to my friends and family, so I wanted to purchase 8 cups.When I asked the employee at the front counter, I was told that if I ordered online, I would be able to purchase more. However, if I ordered in the store, I could only purchase one cup. So I followed her instructions and placed an order through the app.Since it was my first time using the online ordering system, I misunderstood how the promotion worked. I thought that if I ordered 6 cups, I would receive 6 free cups, and that the store would give me the promotional drinks when I picked up my order. I believed I had successfully paid for 6 cups and that the additional 6 cups would be included because of the promotion.However, when my number was called, the employee told me that my order only included the 6 cups I paid for and that I would not receive the free drinks because I had not applied the promotion. I tried to explain the situation and show that I had attempted to use the promotion, but I believe there may have been an issue with the app because the promotion did not appear on my order.The employee then told me to wait for the manager. I waited for the manager to come and speak with me, but unfortunately, the manager's attitude was very rude from the beginning. I understand that the store may have been extremely busy today and that the employees may have been tired or stressed. However, being busy is not a reason to treat a customer as if they are a problem or as if you do not want to help resolve the situation.I understand that I made a mistake by not properly applying the promotion. I take responsibility for that. However, I would have appreciated it if the staff had politely explained the situation to me and clearly guided me through the online ordering process when I first asked for help.Instead of simply explaining the promotion and apologizing for the misunderstanding, I felt like the staff were arguing with me and trying to prove that I was wrong. I was not asking for anything unreasonable. I simply wanted someone to explain the situation politely and help me understand what happened.Iknow the chè here is actually very good, which is why I have recommended this place to many of my friends and family. I was so excited when they opened a location in El Monte, but let's be real... it never hurts to visit the old stomping grounds, especially after demolishing a delicious bowl of pho at Phởholic right next door. Dessert destiny, basically. Casual & welcoming vibe! Hubby never switches it up and always orders the house special (creature of habit), while I stay loyal to the Thai dessert, plus a side of longan and pandan jelly because why choose just one? Life is short--order extra jelly. Seating is limited with only a few tables inside and a few outside, so maybe don't come on a rainy day unless you enjoy balancing dessert and umbrellas at the same time. But honestly, the service is fast, friendly, and the desserts always hit the spot. Sweet cravings? They make a dan-g good dessert. Bake & Che is a couple of local shops, which might barely be called a chain, offering Vietnamese and Vietnamese-style desserts. My friend stopped by this location during a trip through town and brought back some gifts from there for me to try the same night. Some of their desserts weren't the most memorable. The Durian Pandan Layers pastry, aka Banh Da Lon Sau Rieng, was very obviously durian-flavored, and I'm not a huge fan of that fruit. The textures of the layers seemed fine though. The Cassava pastry, aka Banh Khoai Mi, was on the dry side and was kinda mild/bland, which does actually read very traditional to me. But if you want a great, sweet, more American-friendly option, try the Flan Cheese Cake, or the pandan version which is specifically the one I got to try. The top flan layers are great and full of pandan flavor, but it's the slightly smaller cheesecake layer at the bottom plus the caramel sauce that make it memorable. Bake & Che is a must-visit in this area. Little Saigon is obviously a destination on its own, but definitely include a flan cheesecake (pandan if possible) on your itinerary. read more

I rarely write reviews. But today I have to write something about this. I have tried chè ba màu at many different places, and I don't think the C3 (chè ba màu) here is very good. It doesn't have much flavor, it just tastes sweet ONLY. It doesn't taste like the traditional dessert I was expecting. It doesn't have richness of mung beans and the richness of coconut milk ..etc. They need to learn how to make this better. If you want to try chè ba màu, I wouldn't recommend this place. I recommend trying it at IPlanet Coffee on Brookhurst Street. In my opinion, it tastes much better than the one at Bake & Chè. read more

I ordered the C2, Che Thai. It consisted of longan, jackfruit, red rubies (aka water chestnuts), jello, maybe nata de coco, and coconut milk mixture. The coconut milk part wasn't too sweet and the perfect consistency. I asked for ice to be added to my che and it was a fun shape! The Che Thai had lots inside it and was filling. My aunt ordered the Pandan Banh Lot & Grass Jelly Che, this also has coconut milk mixture. It had the slightest grain to it, but it wasn't bad. I enjoyed it and what I liked was that the grass jelly wasn't too soft and not too sweet. The banh lot was soo yummy! We also ordered the Coffee Coconut Jello and the Pandan Coconut Jello I believe. The price wasn't bad... around $1.25 I think for each. The coffee on the other hand was really lacking coffee taste, it was quite thin. And the jello itself was set too hard. I personally would skip these next time. But I just want to clarify that they could improve them next time after reading this review, so if you see them and they look good! Give it a try. The Palm Sugar Cassava Cake was baked well with a moist interior. I would recommend this. Also, they only have one trash can inside. If they could add another one on a different end of the store. That would be great and also, either have a worker come out and clean up tables, or encourage customers to clean up after themselves. read more

Came to Bake & Che since I was craving Che and this place had good reviews. There was a line when I came which was a good sign, but I got my order immediately after I ordered (literally right after I tapped my card). I got the House Special Che. House Special Che - Actually SO good. The toppings were all delicious and they were pretty generous with each. I just wish that they had more fresh fruit in it since this was pretty pricey. I always see a line out the door whenever I drive by this location even at night. So naturally, I wanted to stop by. The store has a couple tables with seats inside and outside, most people took their order to go. I saw a sign for their signature flan cheesecake and decided to give it a try. The cheesecake was very delicious. There is a layer of flan on top which was soft, smooth, and silky. The layer underneath was the cheesecake which also had a light and fluffy texture. But the best part was it have the right amount of sweetness and richness and wasn't overly done. There was a SUPER long line when I arrived around 3 p.m. It wrapped around the building and I literally waited 40 min to save $7... Hahaha! .... but it was delicious and worth the wait. It was also a hot day, so a bit uncomfortable waiting in the heat, but let me just say that EVERY EMPLOYEE I talked to was OVERLY pleasant and SUPER friendly. All were bilingual and smoothly changed languages with a smile on their face. Of course, everyone wanted the BOGO deal, but once you got in out of the sun and inside the building EVERYONE was working hard to keep the line moving and they all seemed to know their job and it was VERY organized. The girl at the register also made sure I was "ok" with Durian, if I wanted the ice in my drink or on the side, if I wanted less sugar and if I had a peanut allergy........ all this for a $7 drink.
