Found this bakery on Yelp and it didn't disappoint. The sign out front says "Paris Bakery" in a commercial building. The bakery blends French & Vietnamese flavors together so well. I ordered the Pate Chaud sandwich (a Vietnamese meatball enveloped by flaky pastry that they then opened up & added BBQ pork, meatloaf, and pickled veggies. My husband ordered the Poulet (Chicken) croissant - shredded chicken with pickled & fresh veggies in their flaky croissant. Both of the sandwiches has the bright flavors of a banh mi and were delicious. We also ordered 2 hot Vietnamese coffees. The coffee was robust and was deliciously contrasted by the sweet cream they whipped into it. We will definitely be back to check out their cakes, tarts, cream puffs & more. read more

Au Coeur de Paris has very good almond croissants. But you need to get there early because they have odd hours. They're open only from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm daily! Many times I came at 1:05 pm and their doors were already closed and they were gone! Butter croissants are $4.50 and almond croissants are $5.50, if you want to know their prices. This my second time here, and definitely easy going and great service for sure. Easy parking and small menu. The hole in the wall was cute and clean fills with baked goods upon walking in. So I heard that they're known for the Pate Chaud and baguettes, and they do yummy. I ordered a pate chaud, a sandwich and a sweet treat. Pate Chaud has a great but small portion well mixed meat filling, the crusty pastry was mixed for me, top part was crusty and smell fantastic but as you voted into it, it become tough and abit chewy for me. The bánh mì, for me didn't do much - just nothing special. The baguette was not hot nor crisp as you bite in it, it was just room temperature. The size is abit smaller then other place with decent price for it. The opera cake was abit disappointed for me, I love love this cake and it was just below average for me, abit sweeter then I would like, the bottom of the cake sticked to the paper and the cake itself was just fell like cake mixed from the box. Just nothing special. The displaced cakes look great so will come back to get them to give a taste another time. read more

I've been coming here for years for the pate chaud banh mi, almond croissant, pain au chocolat, baguettes and iced Vietnamese coffee and never get less than I expect. The quality is consistently high: the texture and taste of the croissants and baguettes capture the boulangerie in Paris experience. The problem here is that the good quality ones are SO expensive and it just defeats the cravings. Or some places are cheap but the quality doesn't hold up. I would say au cœur de Paris is right in between! Their butter croissants are not $6-7 (they're $4.5) but they're also not huge however when you bite into it, it's quality every bite! Their staff was also very nice, I had called before going in and she answered all my questions. When I got in there, she was very efficient. By chance we see that Au Coeur De Paris bakery had its doors open. It was around 12:30pm when we drove by going West on Edinger. I quickly made a U-Turn upon the lovely missus' urging. I am Glad we did as we walked in and a young lady greeted us. Ofcourse we were immediately amazed at the displays of colorful tarts and fruity pastries. The decor on the wall was a highlight for me as it did remind of the real Paris in France from so long ago. We see the butter croissants and the freshly baked breads and baguettes. I ordered one long French crust baguette and then I saw a Pate Chaud case. The missus chose a Mango Mousse pastry and dish of a creamy Creme Brulet. We will take it to go and have the treats at home. The missus rated the Creme Brulet just very slightly over the Mango Mousse. My Pate Chaud was still warm and has that crunch of a layered crust. The porky mixture inside the pocket was seasoned well but not overbearing that so many Viet style Pate Chaud leave a lingering taste. I like the Pate Chaud and should have ordered two. The baguette was fresh and had that good chewy crust, but my preference is for a more breadier white doughy bread. This one did have a buttery sweetness in the bite. However, it quickly flattened out and you'll be chewing two halves of outer crust. No worries, we did enjoy this small Au Coeur De Paris bakery. I got their popular pate sandwich and it's popular for a reason! I happen to drive by this bakery quite often so I was surprised it was here. Definitely a hidden gem, this small bakery offers French-Vietnamese options. The display case was small but hosted some familiar French pastries that were well made and a treat for the eyes. We ordered two of their pate chaud banh mis which were really good. Came in to grab a pate chaud sandwich because the idea is intriguing. Good concept, but poorly executed . The pate chaud pastry itself was hard and didn't have a great flakey texture to it and the pate chaud meat wasn't very tasty (tiny piece of meat in proportion to the pastry itself too). PAIN AU CHOCOLAT This was flaky and delicious. Good chocolate amount and good chocolate flavor in the center. TIRAMISU The overall flavor was there. The expected Tiramisu flavor was there and the fluffy cake texture was there too. BUT it did have a tinge of sour flavor. Not sure if it has gone bad. Never had Tiramisu that had a hint of sour flavor. The coffee flavors, cream and cocoa did mask that sourness. Seems most likely that it has gone bad a bit. If you value quality over quantity, this is the place. The viet coffee was strong and not too sweet. The pate chaud here is definitely a step above most places. Buttery bread and tender meat that's not too salty. If you catch them fresh out of the oven, they're 11/10. During my visit in Cali I got to try these pate Chaud banh mi. My cousins bought them as breakfast for the family. The foodie in me had my eyes wide open when I opened the box and unwrapped them. I've never had something like this before. This beautiful creation is the perfect combination of Pate Chaud and Banh Mi. The pastry was so flakey with a nice crunch to it. They're originally from San Diego! We got a chocolate croissant ($3.95), almond chocolate croissant ($4.95), pate chaud, and pate chaud sandwich ($3.95). The puff pastries here are so good. Very flakey, fluffy, airy, and big.I just wished the chocolate croissant had more consistency in the chocolate chips spread throughout so that you're not just eating dough. Same thing with pate chaud. The pork meatball is smack in the center so when you eat the edges, it's all dough until you get to the filling in the center.
