Literally one of the best meals I've had in a hot minute !!! Only qualm is genuinely probably the weather since it is a little warm in the restaurant but there has been a heat wave and the food is soooooo bomb !!! :') Service was impeccable they're so sweet and attentive and did appreciate how they wipe down the table right after each customer leaves. Speedy with it 11/10 recommend !! Also fruit tart BOMB DOT COM (sorry not pictured) but the belly approves wholeheartedly read more

It's one of my favorite places for bò kho. The broth is always freshly made and flavorful. It does not taste powdery like some other places. The beef is soft and delicious. The staff are nice and fast with orders. The store is small but clean and well organized. It is a must-stop place in all my trip to Little Saigon :) read more

Very delicious French style Vietnamese dishes, we always come here to eat the same thing . Restaurant was not crowded today so it was perfect . Weekends and some days it is packed. Service was nice . Atmosphere was quiet since it was not busy. Bathrooms were okay. They have two restaurants adjacent to each other . We sat on the other side because waitress said it was cooler on this side for a hot day. read more

Fruit cake was old as if it's been sitting there for a few days.. I will not be coming back anymore.

This place has been staple in the Vietnamese community for decades for the food as well as bakery items. But the quality has gone down hill. Came in today, ordered chicken curry, meatballs, and udon - 3 in our party. Taste/flavor: Curry was average, the chicken tasted old. Xiu mai (their speciality) was average, a little on the saltier side, and oh so tiny. Didn't try the bánh canh but my son said it was good. With tax, our bill came out to be $54 and some change. This included $4.50 for 3 iced water... not bottled, but in a to-go cup - this was a shocker because when I looked at the menu, there was no where that indicates $1.50 for water. It's a little outrageous and quite frankly, dishonest. Hence the 1 star. Needless to say, I won't be back. read more

This place will always hold a special place in my heart. It's been our family's go to birthday cake place. We've always loved the fruit tart cake with the rich custard cream and the delicious fruit toppings. We recently got a birthday cake there and definitely lots of nostalgia. It's not quite as good as I remember as a kid, but we were happy to keep up with the cake tradition. read more

I'm so glad this place is still around after over 20 years of being here. This family run cafe really does specialize in their Vietnamese beef stew. I've searched high and low around here and nothing beats this place. Truly a gem in garden grove! A must go establishment. It's simple, hearty and delicious read more

Hands down the best fruit tart cake! I remember going her 20 years ago. I picked up a full sheet cake for my mom's 80th for 50 people and the cake was a hit. The fruit were all fresh and the pastry was crunch and flaky. They even offer to have the cake precut but you can't tell it's precut. It was perfect and yummy. read more

I ordered an fruit tart as a birthday cake on 8/27. Much to my disappointment, the fruit tart was not I thought it to be. The fruit tart crust like pre-made one that you buy at the supermarket. It was hard, dry and not easy to bite on. The rich vanilla pastry cream was so thin and little under the fruit. I had ordered fruit tarts at this place several times before, and it was not the same. I will not come back to this place. read more

Everything at this place is tasty, from the desserts to the dine in beef stew (staple, best seller). The portions are large with incredibly fast service. Great place to visit during off peak hours as it does get busy in the mornings with their very freshly baked pastries. The environment is very easy going and low key. Great family atmosphere and easy place to find! read more

This is a hidden gem. I'm not sure why it got poor reviews. Maybe they're not ordering the right dishes. Maybe it appeared a little run down and not very hip? Come here and order the bo kho or tongue stew. It's so good here. Probably the best bo kho in town. I think they added a little wine to their stew. Eaten with bread, wow it was so so good. I wouldn't have never wander into this place on my own, but I'm glad I went here and enjoyed a delicious meal. Don't expect much service here. They'll bring out the food and that's pretty much it. read more

An amazing restaurant go get traditional Vietnamese beef stew dishes. Service is fast and the food is delicious! Nice to be in a place with locals enjoying themselves and socializing. Bo Kho. Traditional beef stew with rice noodles. Flavorful and full of tender beef and beef intestines. Grade: A The luoi bo / beef tongue was amazing. It was slices of tender tongue made into a delicious and savory beef stew. Loved every bite. Grade A We got a few pastries to go - fruit tart, mini cream puffs, almond and chocolate croissant. Sean, the owner (?) and host, has always been so welcoming and friendly. He was helpful in explaining the dishes to us. Great customer service. read more

I might have recommended this place had they been open during open hours. Unfortunately I work until 5:30 but wanted to order a fruit tart from there. I left work early specifically to rush over to order the tart. I got there 15 minutes before closing and the doors were already locked. I'm sure they get plenty of business so having challenging hours for some probably doesn't matter. Maybe one day I will be able to make it in time before they close. read more

I love this restaurant and it made me sad they have lost a lot of customers to new restaurants w young and savvy owners who know how to use social media, for instance Phonic is a real joke but they have 365 days ads in Instagram and boy did they work. Manager if you read this review , please put an ad soon IG reach, I think 500 million people! This restaurant was the 1st French bakery in Little Saigon, I used to go w my parents here, it was a highlight of every week end, you'd be lucky to get a table. Their baguettes were so delicious, the pate chaud and croissant were even better than what I had in Paris, for some reason, Paris no longer have pâté chaud so this is unique, other restaurants can never know how to make good ones, I'm glad they claimed w yelp but the more the merrier. Luckily they had branched into a real restaurant w extensive menu such as Beef curry that NOBODY EVER HAD THIS, their Bo Kho was amazing too, ramen, udon, etc.. but this menu is only offered till 2pm w the exception of beef curry and Bo kho, offered till closing time. We had the beef curry w baguette for the 1st time today and we loved it so much, it was a big order, enough for both of us, the beef was so so tender, I never tried this before bc I was afraid it would be chewy. I used to order birthday cakes and Christmas logs here but the past few years w a loss of customers, the cakes may not look as fresh. I would still rate this pioneer bakery 5 stars for their historical importance, an iconic name, wow, le croissant doré, it has a good vibe to my ears! and I'll be here for the beef curry more often, it was not hot/spicy, just perfectly seasoned and the pâté chaud was always so delicious. Bon appétit ! read more

I used to go here whenever I was in the area. But sadly--the quality of the food has gone DOWNHILL. It's just not good? Ordered their duck noodle. Two of the duck pieces were decent. The amount of noodles....was paltry. Their chili sate sauce--was gross--pasty/dry-texture of dried tamarind? The beef stew with mushrooms--what kind of mystery meat was that? Not much flavor but I tried to make the most of it by dipping some of the warm bread in it. As for the meat---it's Not stewed meat ...I think they're leftover cuts---to be discarded. The bread was served nice and extra warm...until I found a small piece of hair at the bottom. Lost my appetite. NEVER coming back. read more

You honestly cannot go wrong with a classic fruit tart! And you'll always be the fave if you show up with one of these in hand at the family gathering. Fruits are so fresh and the custard is chef's kiss (not too sweet), with a crispy crust. It's a cute mom and pop shop. read more

***This review is solely based off of Le Croissant Dore's Vietnamese iced coffee*** We stumbled across Le Croissant Dore unexpectedly while we were on a hunt for a particular item. With my energy slowly yet consistently draining, I was very open to the idea of a caffeine jolt! I walked in, placed my order for ca phe sua da and waited. My drink comes out shortly after that and WOW! Boy did it hit the spot, taste yummy, and give me that extra push that I greatly needed. 5/5 stars because the coffee itself didn't taste burnt, the flavors where both strong af but had an amazing balance of creamy sweetness. I'd come back here again for this very item and maybe then I'd be able to try out their Bo Kho [vietnamese beef stew]. With the short period of time that I was visiting, I overheard almost every other person ordered that dish!! read more

My family has been coming here for 20+ years! Their fruit tart is amazing!! I haven't found another place that makes fruit tarts like them.

Very good fruit tart. Larger sizes need to order ahead. I just wished they used all fresh fruit, pineapple is canned.

This is a nit about the experience at Le Croissant Dore. When I go to a restaurant and order, I don't expect to be charged for filtered tap water. If the restaurant is going to charge, they better tell me first. To find out at the end of my meal that I'm being charged $1.50 for a glass of tap water, filtered or unfiltered, I just feel that's bad customer service. Please either make it a habit to inform customers in advance, or stop charging. Thank you. read more

This is one of my go-to places for Vietnamese comfort food! My go-to is the beef stew, or bo kho. The meat is super tender and it's served alongside freshly baked French bread that you can use to soak up all the delicious soup. Squeeze some lime into the salt + pepper mix, dip your meat in there and enjoy! Another favorite is the croissant - it's HUGE and buttery and packed full of meat. They do run out though, so get there early if you want to try it! We usually ask them to cut it in half so we can share. We also enjoy their cafe sua da, it's definitely on the stronger side. Sometimes there will be tables of old Vietnamese men just catching up over coffee, so you know their coffee is super legit. read more

Childhood memories... here we go! This place calls back so many delicious birthdays with my family! Its cake decoration has basically stayed the same for decades, and we used to get the fruit cake as our childhood cake. But now we go for the fruit custard tart/pie. You can see the well-blended layers of the pie crust are because of how flaky when you cut it apart! Although seem to taste like that from a can, the fruits don't smell like another place, and it's a great way to get a homemade-style-looking baked good instead. read more

A coworker recommended I try the Beef Stew and Red Wine Beef, and while the to-go order took a little while, the beef was absolutely amazing. A cup of ice coffee full of ice, may be 1/3 coffee. Not a good value. Felt like being short changed. 2 sips only!

A classic spot for beef stew, give it a try, you won't be disappointed! Spring rolls were fresh and delicious too!

We ordered two pate chauds and they were both underdone. The meat inside was COLD. The layers of the pastry were thick and doughy. When we told the waiter, he said "That's how we do it." Unfortunately we did not have a great experience. Would not come here again. read more

Le Croissant Dore - Pate Chaud (undercooked) - Bakeries Near Me - Westminster, California

Fool's gold, perhaps? Le Croissant Doré, which translates to The Golden Croissant, is a well-established business in the area. And by that, I mean it's old. It has reportedly been around since as far back as 1975, which would make it one of the older businesses of the most famous Little Saigon. While the ownership may have changed (per other reviewers), it probably counts for something that they're still up and running. I was actually alerted to them as a search result for pate chaud in the local area. Their version of pate chaud comes at a decent price, $2.50, but doesn't strike me as the most flavorful on either the first or second go-around. The shell isn't very buttery. The meat filling, though plentiful, is inconsistent in that it can be dry on some finished pieces. Overall, it's far from my favorite. Wasn't a huge fan of either the Bo Kho or Bo Nau Ruou ($11.95 each). They actually want you to add salt and pepper and lime, either as a dip or otherwise, which complicates the balance of flavor in each bite. Just cook it the right way the first time, please. The Bo Nau Ruou seems to have more tender beef, but its potatoes aren't consistent in texture. Both are served with an average-sized, average-tasting French bread roll. I'd probably give the edge to the Bo Nau Ruou if you want a braised beef stew from here, mainly because the Bo Kho has beef that is far too tough to chew. There are more appealing food options in the area, so I won't be back to Le Croissant Dore of my own volition. Make no mistake: it's no French bakery, just a small Vietnamese eatery with some pastries and some hot food items. Maybe I'll try another dish out if my family selects it. read more

YASSSSSSSS I LOVE THIS PLACE. It's a been a while since I had their Bo kho which is FIRE!!!! But this review is based on the fruit tart cake. Then the first opened, Le croissant dore only did cakes. It wasn't until later that they added the beef stew. I had the fruit tart cake for the first time this past weekend. I'm used to the Vans Bakery version. In comparison, this one has less pudding and less glaze over the fruit which means the puff pastry part doesn't get mushy. The puff pastry part is also more crunchy and sweet and Le Croissant Dore. So I guess it's a matter of preference. Do you prefer more crunch or more pudding? Honestly I was blown away by Le Croissant Dore's version. I still like both but I really liked the crisp puff pastry. And the fruits were so sweet. read more

If you know me well, you know to get me a birthday cake from here (and only here!). It's the only cake I prefer over anything else. Their fruit tart with custard is what I have for my birthday almost every year growing up. I make all my previous/past boyfriends get me a cake from here. If you get it from anywhere relate, then *shakes head.* I prefer this over the rest because it only has the pastry puff. I don't like the mixed pastry puff with the sponge cake. And I don't like any fruit tart with soggy pastry puffs. Lê Croissant Dore never disappoints (well.. sometimes the crust can be a bit overdone), but it's ok. All my childhood birthday memories come rushing back whenever I have this cake. The fruits are always juicy and has perfect amount of tart. The custard is also what brings it all together. If it were my party, I would get this cake every time. Oh, the chicken croissant here is a must too! But it runs out fast, so make sure to come early before they sell out! read more
