This location also has a wider variety of food options compared to others, which is a nice plus. The prices are very reasonable (considering cheap in Southern California) and the food is consistently good, no surprise it's quite well-known in the Little Saigon area. It can get pretty busy during after-work hours, so the shop does feel a bit crowded at times. There's no dine-in seating, so it's takeout only. Service-wise, when they're busy, the staff may not be very expressive but honestly, we come here for the food, not the service, so it doesn't really bother me. read more

This one is probably less crowded then the other branch across from target but the bahn mi slaps especially if you come when they are piping hot which is almost all the time. Was standing in line to pay for some pandan waffles (which I do recommend) but my Mom got in a different line to order some more stuff behind the counter and the lady that my Mom was ordering from said you can pay everything with her so I passed my mom the pandan waffles and the cashier in the first line yelled at me and said I couldn't just get out of line and pay over there. This is definitely a local favorite because it was packed when I walked in! The sandwiches and drinks are super affordable. They also have delicious baked goods! I ordered the BBQ pork banh mi and it was huge! The bread was fresh and the meat was filled with flavor. The usual toppings added some freshness to the sandwich. I also got a large Thai tea which was fantastic! Everything came out to be $11! The minimum credit card purchase is $10, so be aware of that. Been a fan of Banh Mi Che Cali for decades. My family and I used to frequent the location off the corner of Brookhurst and Westminster for their very fresh and affordable banh mi, che, and other Vietnamese pastries. It was my first time visiting this location recently, as I never knew they opened on this end of Westminster off Bolsa. The parking was a bit tedious to find and the plaza doesn't feel all too pedestrian friendly. The little bakery does not have an organized ordering system. You basically wait in line to pay for your banh mi and have to flag staff down to pick out your che. It's absolute chaos. Nonetheless, the deals here are good. We personally enjoy the che. Here, you need to pay first and they give you a ticket. Then you go to the drink and dessert station, give them the ticket, and someone will prepare your order. There was a minimum to use card. Anyway, I gave my ticket to one of the ladies and never got my drink. When my friend asked them, they said I needed to pay first and give them the ticket... which I already did all of that! Eh... I went back to the front to the lady who collected my money. Luckily, she still remembers me. And I told her they lost my ticket or possibly gave my order to someone else. They were able to give me a new ticket for it. It was such a chaotic experience, esp when they hardly spoke English. Cheap and filling. For the price, this bakery gets the job done. They have some BOGOs and buy 2 get 1 free deals you can take advantage of! The sandwiches here are a mixed bag from what I've tasted. Baguettes are usually on point, with a crunchy crust and airy interior. Vegetables are fresh most times, but sometimes way too pickled and acidic, other times basic and bland. The meat quality is usually subpar. So I'll just get the baguettes separately and make my own. Otherwise, my favorite thing here is the banh bo mau (sort of like mini rainbow steamed cupcakes). These multicolored treats have a nice spongy texture and subtle sweetness to them. Iced coffee was fine. I wouldn't order milk tea with boba again. The croissants they make are too flimsy for my preferences, with not enough crisp. Recently I was given Banh Bong Lan, which is a round sponge cake. I liked how light it was. The flavor was a little plain though. I was also given a raisin cake, which I did not try since I don't like raisins. That one was re-gifted. Their bread is the best. Been a customer since 1998. They used to make the best Banh Mi. They have changed the mayonnaise it's sour and no longer has garlic like before. Their pickles have no taste. This place is one of those hidden gems within a shopping center that is not exactly high end or trendy. That being said, when I'm in this area and have time, I make my way here to get a variety of Vietnamese food to go that is good, and inexpensive. It's in the same center where the ABC Supermarket, and Bank of America is at on Bolsa, off Magnolia streets. This bakery makes and labels many of their own foods. Their Ban Mi sandwiches are decent and low priced. They have a lot to offer with both hot foods and cold foods. Their BBQ chicken is great. I would say their egg rolls are probably the lesser item on what is really a large range to choose from. But then if you want, try and see if it's up to your standards of what an egg roll should taste like for you. Their fried rice, which often has either pork or chicken, is pretty good. Their bread products, croissants, etc are a good investment. I'm always pleasantly surprised at what I find here- yesterday I discovered chili flavored mangos in their refrigerated section. The staff yesterday was great, one of the ladies spoke good English and was very friendly and helpful. Honestly, at these small independant mom and pop Vietnamese shops, it's not always that the staff is good with English, and at times they can be rather abrupt or impatient. As a warning, sometimes this place can have this issue too. But normally I do get decent service, and enjoy the food. And their hours are very good, open 7 days a week, and operating early in the morning till the evening. I've taken many friends here, and many of them end up loving this place and coming back again. This used to be the best spot for Vietnamese desserts and Banh mi sandwiches. I've frequented this location for over 20+ yrs. Fast forward to yesterday. Had a craving for the BBQ banh mi sandwiches. Three for $12 is a good price for their great quality. Everything seems fresh. Having had cancer, I was SO surprised (and made me cringe) that they heated the BBQ pork in a regular plastic bag (I doubt it is bpa-free). Even though it's probably ok to eat the sandwiches, just reading about micro plastics in our water and food supply makes me hesitant. So I'm tossing out these 3 sandwiches-cannot take a chance of ingesting more chemicals. Wish I had not seen this. Hope the Owner becomes health conscious and realizes that micro-waving thin plastic bags (not microwavable) causes cancer. No wonder cancer is on the rise. :-( read more

Service here is old-school, with old Vietnamese ladies. It serves a lot of banh mi, on-par with Lee's Sandwiches, and has been around here since the 90s. Yes, the customer service here can be harsh, and its a take-it or leave it attitude. That's not really off-putting to me having grown up around here, the food is typically good and low-priced. I can forgive them, because its not like immigrants had training in customer service, and at least this place tries to give you a receipt. One thing they are terrible at, other than the harsh customer service, is not labeling all the foods, especially with allergen information. I sometimes forget what goes into a food item or what it looks like, but usually, I am happy with my purchase because I love to eat Viet food. Unfortunately, I have to be conscious about my food purchases, and kind of annoyed that there isn't anyone that is making modern changes to their process. Last week, though, bought a Banh It, ingredients listed said it contained: "Bean, sweet rice, coconut". Did not have any beans. It had peanuts and jicama, with coconut inside and loads of sugar. I definitely regret this purchase, but there's so many triangular shaped steamed dumplings wrapped in bamboo, hard to tell them apart. I thought I was getting a steamed glutinous rice cake with red or mung beans. Sometimes, the products don't have any labeling on them at all, so its extra confusing. And why is it a big deal? I am food intolerant to WHEAT, CORN, SOYBEANS, and PEANUTS. So I really need to know what's in the ingredients. Also, I hope they do away with using so much plastic wrap, especially with cooked products! Scientists are now doing extensive testing and find that plastic leeches, and leeches so much more when heated, it becomes a part of the food. And plastic is now been shown to be very unhealthy to consume. I am happy the store is still around, but they could really use an update in safe food practices, and stop steaming food inside of plastic, and only wrap until it finishes cooking not cooking with it inside the bamboo wraps. Plus the bamboo wraps are naturally waxy, so I don't understand why doubling down on plastic is a necessity. I might shop here much less frequently and only when needed, because some of the things they make, can be made at home safely without the plastic. Banh Cuon Tay Ho has modernized, I don't know why this place is still raggedy. Did they just decided to buy BMW's when they were booming in the 2000s? Should of have updated the store. If you're not going to update the interior, at least, keep up with the times, and keep it clean and organized. read more

Very tasty and affordable! Both the che and banh mi's are buy 2 get one free, which is a steal. I wanted to try so many things in here, but literally had no idea how to get in line to order them. Be prepared to descend into chaos if you are here during peak hours. Couldn't figure out whether there was one line or three separate lines to order. I went ahead and stood in the main looking line (in the middle) and ordered 4 banh mi's, 3 che's, and a pandan pancake, which came out to $26.00. A steal! Then had to walk over to the lady manning the che station to point out which desserts I wanted, and had another lady jump in front of me straight from the door to order and pay for hers first. Very confusing, as noted above. Lots of yelling from staff and patrons alike for reasons that are unclear to me (as I do not speak a word of Vietnamese), but can be stressful if you are waiting on your order and not sure if they are yelling your number.
