A thick coconut base with a variety of toppings. Sweet, but not too sweet with an abundance of sago, potatoes, and bananas. Delicious! - Flan: 9.0/10. Better than most flans that I have tried. Very rich and creamy, almost like creme brulee. I love the smooth texture of this compared to the more gelatinous texture of most flans. Hmm I thought I had reviews for this dessert place but somehow I don't see them? Very strange. Very good dessert. If you have a big sweet tooth, you'll be in heaven landing here. :) I always make a stop here and pick up some dessert and sticky rice (sweet or savory) every time I'm in the area. The line is always always long and moves very slowly so be patient. Got 5 different types of sticky rice, rice balls filled with smashed mung beans, and 2 dessert today. They are all so good, I had to have a few bites of everything as soon as I get in my car. :) Small, single serving and they run about $3-$4 each. Be careful though. Don't get them mixed up with the other location on Westminster Blvd. This location, on Bolsa, their dessert are so much fresher and better quality. I noticed some photos posted here are actually photos of the other location on Westminster Blvd. The only thing is the very long wait and depending on who serves you, you'd get more or less in each serving. I got a new lady serving me yesterday (yes, I recognize them all, been going here for over 10 years). All five boxes I ordered, she only filled them half-way full. Most servers would fill up those little size containers. She also added the sesame seeds seasoning to some of the sticky rice that don't require it. I have been coming here coz it's closer than to Huntington beach than The one I like from GG. But that was the last time I would come here. Here's why, I told them not to put bird seeds (sesame seeds etc.. peanuts) I came home and had to spend 15 minutes removing them. The charged $1 for coconut instead of giving me a small cup. The worst offender was they made the dessert w CANNED THICK GOOEY COCONUT THICK SYRUP, IT tasted so gross, like I was eating a bar of SOAP! LOL!!! needless to say I trashed it. The other 2 Hien Khanh was better no soapy taste but their THAI DESSERT now no longer has coconut, they used CONDENSED MILK! It is a riff-off place with terrible service. I ordered a cup of 3 dessert flavors; the lady charged me $7. I politely asked her why the location on Westminster Blvd only charged $3.50 and why they charged double. She was very rude and said she could charge whatever she wanted. As you can see they make tons of che (desserts) and xoi (sweet sticky rice). We found this location first and my mom did her thing lol. Get in line then when a lady is free to help you she will raise her hand. The lady was super sweet that helped me. I got the che baba which has sweet potatoes and coconut milk. It was only ok. I wish I had gotten the che ba mau or the mochi che. The flan-awesome, creamy and light. Banana fried-was good. The green and yellow striped jelly-good. The star though?-the banh cam-the fried sesame balls with mung bean filling. The lightest and crispiest I've ever had. The xoi with sausage was super good too. It's a CASH ONLY business!!! Located in a plaza on Bolsa and Brookhurst. Plenty of parking on either side or the plaza. It's a very small establishment with no seating inside or out. Everything is laid out behind a glass and you just tell them or point at what you want. Everything is made fresh and reasonably priced. Although, I did noticed how humid it was in the store and how badly it smelled. Hopefully they get it fixed soon as the heat wave is coming. The smell seems to be coming above from the broke AC unit that's just pushing out warm air. Smells like how a very damp room would smell. Previously when I went months back, they sold expired food that was sitting out for goodness knows how many hours. When I opened the cup it smelled sour - it definitely had been sitting out for more than 5 hours, at room temperature. They don't care and are so greedy. This is my go-to place when I'm craving all things Vietnamese desserts. I almost always leave with more items than intended because the aroma and sights of all the delicious goodies. I almost always get their chè ba màu (3 colored dessert) and cớm dẹp. My only issue is I wish they would have a menu with pricing. Visiting from Hawaii. We don't have any decent Vietnamese food so we hsd to check this out. I didn't know there were two locations on the same street so we went to this location unknowingly. We came pretty late in the day, around 7pm. So we assumed they had sold out of a lot of stuff, lady who helped us was really nice and patient. My mom kept asking questions and the aunty working kindly answered them all. She advised us come in the morning, there's more items which made sense. Next day, we returned in the morning and they did have more items so we picked up a bunch of random ones. The two guys who helped us were fast and efficient. I liked everything they had. I've always gone to their other location for desserts and never had a problem. This location was close to where I was having dinner so decided to go here. It's a lot smaller than the other location. It also seemed like their selection is limited. I got one of the che and the pandan and mung bean cake. The che was fine but when I took a bite of the pandan cake it had a super slimy texture that was so off-putting. I didn't eat anymore and left it for later. The taste was muted too. Small shop and lots of ready-made desserts in cups stacked everywhere. It's a bit confusing ordering from here if you've never had che or any form of che. Also confusing if you don't speak the language since signage is, for the most part, in Vietnamese. To be fair, I don't think they would even be able to offer an adequate translation. Everything is pretty unique. I know Vietnamese desserts are sweet and even though I had no idea what I was ordering I knew I liked sticky rice and pudding. Apparently, I had ordered che dau, but it was nice, milky, smooth, and delightful with the peas/ beans. Some things take a little time to get used to, namely the penny wort drink which was rather strange; I would describe it as very grassy and herbal? I guess I still haven't had enough che to understand it, but again I know it's usually on the sweeter side. A similar dessert in the Filipino culture is halo halo and even I am not so big on it! read more

I've been a loyal customer of this dessert place since they first opened many years ago. During all those years, they never once gave me any extra coconut sauce for the chè. Then, one day, I received nearly twice the usual amount. I thought, "Wow, after all these years, they're finally giving me something extra." However, when I got home and ate the chè, I discovered the real reason behind their generosity. It turned out that the coconut juice had spoiled and ruined my dessert. I lived in Mission Viejo and had already spent $25 on desserts, so it wasn't worth driving all the way back to Bolsa to complain. I believe they had an excess from the previous day, knew it was going bad, and tried to give it all away. I didn't want to support a business that lacked principles and consideration for its customers' health and time, so I stopped eating chè altogether. LOVE this new location, they've been hear for about a year and a half? I've always gone to the original location near 7 leaves, but when I discovered this new one opened I had to try it. The workers are younger and know english so no more having to just point and be a noob if you don't know vietnamese! The che here also tastes a lot fresher. I love the khoai mi (cassava) dessert and the che khoai mon (taro w/ pandan sticky rice & coconut milk). The khoai mi is soooo good they sprinkle these sweet sesame seeds on top w/ coconut flakes. They pack it warm and fresh so that it's smooth and soft when you scoop it w/ your spoon to eat. A lot better than their other locations! The che khoai mon had a little less taro than other places, but it could be because I came a little late so I had to settle for the prepackaged cup. I'm sure if you come early in the mornings they scoop it fresh for you like the other locations. Cheap, clean, and satisfies my che cravings! Yesterday I bought one cup of banana tapioca pudding and 1 box of Vietnamese steam cake( banh da lợn) before noon. I know the weather was hot so I carefully put it in cooler but when I got home the banana tapioca pudding was rotten and I realized that the banana pudding was pre-scooped and there were 2 cups left with no customers except for me. Now I know those cups were not fresh since it probably was from yesterday, if it was cooked that day it would have not rotten in 30 mins.
