This is a staple we visit every time we're in the area! This is one of the few local bakery's that are a gem. There so many items to try. I love that the menu is displayed on all the TVs with pictures. For someone who knows the desserts but doesn't know the names, it's a godsend. All pastries are freshly made to order/prepared to be heated up fresh for you. We love the dessert drinks and have been making it through the menu to try each one. I've order party trays of their jello. I called the day of to pickup. Super simple and quick. Workers are always so friendly and welcoming. They've never made a mistake on my order until recently. I gave them a call, told me to come back whenever for the missing pate chaud. The entrance where you order is tight. When the line gets long, the shop can be crowded to stand in and there is a longer wait for your order. Everything is worth a try! Reasonable prices. I discovered this place a while back. I have returned here and there for their rau cau (gelatin made w/agar agar). Recently, I have visited a lot more because my mom been wanting it. People do change lol The customer service here used to be great. Owner was patient and nice. Things have changed over years. Recent visit including today, the owner eyes weren't as kind as before. He was rushing my mom and felt irritated that she was asking questions. There were rau cau that came in singles and rau cau that came in 6. I never knew that the ones that came in six were just display and not for sale. My mom wanted to save the dude from grabbing single ones, so she asked for the tray of 6 Pandan coconut. He gave my mom attitude saying that he only sell the single ones. If she insisted in buying the tray of 6 then it will be extra cost. Lol in that case we rather get in singles..duh! More convenient to eat...crazy! Afterwards, when he noticed that my mom was buying more stuff, he kinda stopped with his attitude. Like yo...chill. One or two items, you're still making money. That how you became you today!!! I gonna give this place another chance. In the future, if he still act such ways..it's goodbye for good. For sure, I will lower the ratings as well. Pulled over to use my phone and saw a constant stream of people heading here and got curious. There's honestly not a lot of English spoken here but wow the baked goods were delicious. Try the banh bo in different flavors, small baked rice cakes which kinda reminded me of baked mochi. Delicious Vietnamese desserts! I came here because I was craving pandan steamed honeycomb cake (banh bo nuong). They sell it heated or room temperate in little pie tins, and I thought the flavor and texture was so good! They also sell an assortment of other jelly or baked cakes. 4 pieces for $6! And they sell different flavors of flan in small cups for $2.50. My favorites were the coffee and pandan flan, jackfruit jelly, baked taro cake, and baked pandan layer. But I bought all four types of steamed desserts (taro, pandan, baked flan, cassava) and they were honestly all good! For 8 pcs of the small cakes/jellos + 2 flans + 1 honeycomb cake, the total came out to $20. The girl working the cash register was so patient with me when I was picking all my treats too! The shop was small, clean, and organized, there's a couple chairs just for waiting. I'm so glad I found this gem on Yelp! I went to a new chè place last night and was disappointed. New doesn't always mean better. So this morning we had to go check out the bakery and chè place that my aunt keeps talking about. Boy oh boy, their avocado drink is literally the best in town. You get the rich and creamy fresh avocado not the powder mix. Had so many avocado chunks and jelly. They made it fresh. Not too sweet. We also got a few of the cupcake size desserts like the steamed layer cake, baked taro cake, salted egg sponge cake, and pate chaud. It's so convenient in cupcake size when you just want to snack. $1.50 each or 4 for $6 which isn't a deal when it comes out the same. You can increase the size on most of these items. You can order party trays of up to 80 pieces or more. Even the pate chaud is tiny but delicious. It was evenly proportional in meat and pastry. Everytime I go here, it's like a kid being in a candy store. So many items to look, want to try and buy. The prices are pretty decent when it comes to Vietnamese desserts. The female that assisted with my inquiries and purchase was super nice and didn't mind that I was taking my time and had questions. It helped that I was the only customer at the time. The local place to go for that VNese traditional baked goods desserts. It's tucked away in a corner (for reasons of course) and they only sells nothing but baked desserts good. It's finger foods size for sure, small but not too small and not too big. One or one 1/2 bits will leave you wanting for more. The favor is there, the smell, the sweetness (but not too sweet, the perfect sweet) just feels like a blanket wrapped around you . There are ALOT of choices and I would say if you can that is, try them all, why not, they're bite size and not bad in prices. The store is small and packed with other snacks so I would say 5-6 people in and there is small spaces to move around...it's clean and well lite. We were passing through on our way to Oceanside and were craving some Vietnamese dessert drinks. Searched Yelp and discovered this little gem. Almost missed it since it's hidden in a corner of a teeny tiny plaza. The place itself is also tiny. There were maybe 6 customers inside and the place looked packed from the outside looking in. We walked in and immediately ordered. Everyone in there was just waiting for their order. We ordered my favorite Suong Sao Hat Luu. If you've never tried this traditional dessert, and you like the sweetness of coconut milk and tropical island fruit flavors, you should try this! Everyone makes a different variation, and this one was made with grass jelly, and other traditional ingredients and was delicious! We also ordered the Che Thai (Thai dessert), Che Bo (Avocado drink), Cafe Muoi (Salted iced coffee) and Honeycomb cake pieces. The coffee was super strong and not as sweet as I had hoped. The Suong Sao Hat Luu was the best! The honeycomb cake was really warm and delicious too! The Thai dessert and the Avocado were just okay. read more

Thanh Thi is one of my favorite bakeries in Garden Grove. The bánh & jelly are always good. I like that you can save their jelly for days in the fridge and they are not sticky (go bad). The staff are very nice and the store is always clean. However, I'm not happy with my $5+tax cafe sua da. Look at how much ice it had and how big it was compared to the bánh container. There was also a lot of coffee grounds in the cup which was not very smooth to drink and to swallow. It will be best to stick to their original bánh & jelly :) read more

The menu and displays cases inside are very bold and colorful and ordering the banh (cakes) and thach (jellies) is easy. Each item is the same size and you choose how many pieces you want. The girl who welcome me, her name is Tham and she is such a joy, what a great sales person... I did not come in for dessert, but I did end up buying several things just because she is the sweetest. Things to avoid: there crispy sticky rice with chicken pork floss (greasy, oily, and bitter), sesame durian sticky rice (there is no durian!), pa te chaud (because it is dry and with little meat filling) Parking is small and difficult, small shop with standing room only. They never hassle customers on minimal amount of purchase to use credit card or which method of payment like most places in the area. I was craving sweet so I bought a lot of dessert items here. It was good to try out different things. I would recommend not to buy too many che and consume them the day of or the day after. 2 of my che went bad after 3 days and started to taste sour, probably due to the coconut milk. Here are the items I tried: * Mochi Dessert (Chè Trôi Nước) 4/5 - The big mochi balls were good and had mung beans inside. The little balls were just mochi. Reminded me of my childhood. This dessert is meant to be eaten warm with some of the ginger sugar sauce mixed with the coconut milk. * Honeycomb (Bánh Bò Nướng) 4/5 - Nice, sweet little treat. The honeycomb texture inside made it spongey and soft. * Steamed Rice Cake (Bánh Bò Hấp) 3/5 - A bit dry, the texture was not chewy. The taste was not very sweet either, maybe even a bit off. Tasted better with the coconut sauce. * Baked Banana (Chuối Nướng) 4/5 - Sweet, tasty banana treat, a little starchy. * Baked Cassava (Khoai Mì Nướng) 4/5 - Tasty treat with a light sweetness and a dense texture that make each bite satisfying. * Coconut Jelly (Thạch Dừa) 4/5 - This was a light, sweet coconut jelly. The coconut shavings within made it fun to eat. * Coffee Jelly (Thạch Cà Phê) 5/5 - The coffee flavor really came through in this refreshing, sweet treat. This was probably my favorite. * Flan 5/5 - The flan was creamy and delicious. The coffee sauce at the bottom made it taste even better. * Avocado Drink (Chè Bơ) 3/5 - The drink contained avocado pieces and other che toppings in a coconut milk sauce. The avocado pieces tasted okay. They didn't really fit in the che in terms of taste. I guess I was hoping this would be more of a smoothie. * Taro Pudding (Chè Khoai Môn) - This one went bad after 3 days and tasted sour. No rating since I threw it away. * Banana Pudding (Chè Chuối) - Was excited for this but it tasted acidic after 3 days. read more
