I came to buy "chả chiên", but got confused between chả chiên and chả quế because they looked almost identical. Instead of helping me politely, the lady just pointed at the sign and said, "đọc cái bảng này đi, coi trên đó ghi chữ gì." Wtf? That's your way of providing service? I don't know if she's the owner or just a worker, but either way, that kind of rude attitude is unacceptable. If she's the owner, this kind of customer service is a fast track to losing business. They only sell a few specialty items which also include the fried versions of cha lua/bo and nem (raw version of sweet, marinated pork). My parents approved their banh chung, which is made the traditional way with fatty pieces of pork belly to keep the inside moist. Duc Huong, famous among the Vietnamese community in Little Saigon for their gio cha. It is like a vietnamese sausage that Vietnamese eat. The prices are pretty high, but you the quality and taste of it is one of the best you can have. It is definitely my favorite gio place to go to! I almost don't want to review this place because I wanna keep it to myself. They sell ready made Vietnamese food. Most people go for their sausages, but this is where I go to pick up ca lau and banh gio. The ca lau is always consistently good and I find it to last longer than other places that make it. As for their banh gio, they don't stuff the meat inside. Instead it just sits on top in the leaf. But I love the texture of it here. It isn't too soft or too hard. It's perfect. There are various types of sausage here. I like the taste of the Cha lua the best. I came here because my friend said that's where he usually gets Cha lua at too. New Duc Huong (NDH) is located at the 1st floor of a small business center. From the outside, it looks like a typical vietnamese bakery in the middle of little saigon. I know this place for years and I will go there only for one thing; the sugarcane drink. Their sugarcane drinks are mixed with fresh squeeze orange juice which refresh the palates. I have been to many cafe and tried different kind of sugarcane juice. But none can compare to this place. We didn't have any expectations but to our surprise their pork sausages were to our standards. The only thing I'm not used to is the quantity of each sausage roll...but definitely worth the price. I really love their chi lu but I didn't appreciate thm switching out what I pick for a shittier one. I selected 3 items today and didn't have enough cash on me to pay for it, I let the guy know that I would return from my car to pay for it. I went back to pay for it as he already had it in the bag and handed me the food. When I got homeboy to my surprise I found that it wasn't the ones I selected. This place may be small and hard to find so look for the GBC international bank on bolsa (cross street is Magnolia). It's located next to the Boiling Noodles and I have never had trouble finding parking. They specialize in cha lua and nem nuong (pork patties?) I don't know anyone who doesn't like em especially kids and this place does a pretty good job at it. That is not the only reason to pay this place a visit. I'm a huge fan of drinks so enormous they barely fit in your cup holders (trust me I have the green tea, milk tea and fruit juice stains in my car to prove it). They also specialize in natural sugar cane drink that comes in regular ($2.50) and large ($5). Sure there are lots of places that sells sugar cane drink but it IS freshly made here and what makes it so special are the kumquats added! I always request for extra kumquats (tac in vietnamese). Sugar cane is naturally VERY sweet so the kumquats help balance that out a little. If your'e in the area on a sunny day make sure to stop by! CASH ONLY! Great spot for some sesame balls on the go. A lot of south east Asian treats. Try the sugar cane juice on a hot day or just when you need refreshment. the lady that works there is so sweet and nice, she always greets you with a smile. I gave two stars here for Sugarcane drink only; however, cha lua I put I star. Like Duc Huong next to Boiling Crab, Duc Huong has very awful smell like chemical. Did some one asks them what they put in the Cha Lua? I know their answer is nothing except PORK but I gruarantee they put chemical in the pork roll.
