Not busy, easy parking, variety of uncommon flavors, and beautiful set up and furniture selection. I came with my friend as she said this was one of her favorite dessert spots and it was an interesting experience. Interior has enough seating and service was nice. It was relatively clean, the tables were kinda sticky which was meh to me. We got their Blooming Tea (hot), Strawberry Slush, Passion Cherry Pineapple, and Lychee Mousse. The Blooming tea tasted surprisingly subtle and calming, it paired well with the Lychee Mousse as it tasted subtly light with lychee jellies inside. The Passion Cherry Pineapple tasted strong as you can taste more of the cherry's tart. I wasn't really into it as much as the Lychee. The Spoon offers some of the most beautifully crafted desserts I've ever seen. Everything looks like a piece of art, and their to-go orders are packaged carefully, which I really appreciate. The inside is elegantly decorated as well, and there's indoor seating available if you prefer to enjoy your treats in the store. My only complaint is the service. When I arrived, no one was at the counter so I casually browsed through the desserts while I waited. When the cashier came out from the back, she seemed annoyed which made the interaction a bit uncomfortable. I came in at about 4pm on a Tuesday. The cafe was completely empty. I asked for recommendations on a dessert and was told the mango cheesecake was very popular. I ordered a Vietnamese coffee and a mango cheesecake. The cheesecake was tart and sweet and creamy. Very tasty but quite pricey at $8. The Vietnamese coffee was also quite good but they only filled the cup 75% and use was too much ice. I think I got about 5 or 6 drinks out of it. It was $5. This is a cute cafe with an assortment of cakes and drinks down the street from Knottsberry Farm. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was quiet with plenty of comfortable seating. The selection was a bit limited when I got there so I didn't get to try everything I wanted, but they did refill the kiosk as the afternoon went on. Overall, the desserts here are really aesthetic and there's more cakes I would like to try if I'm in the area next time. As for each: The earl grey bear I came for was decent; it kinds of tastes like ice cream, was super cute, but is lacking a bit of something extra. The lychee pig was so-so. I liked the matcha tiramisu the best! The smoking jasmine was a miss for me; the lychee inside the mousse was pretty sludgy and tart, which I thought did not match well with the jasmine. It's probably judgmental of me, but I have this idea that anything that looks good will not taste good, but I was proven wrong. These desserts are aesthetic and so good that it's hard to stop eating them. I love Asian dessert flavors, and they nailed every single one: matcha, pandan, Thai tea, ube, and more. The pastry chefs are so talented at capturing the flavors and textures of a delicate, stunning dessert that I almost didn't want to eat it... Almost. Let me preface by saying everything we tried was genuinely good. However, I did have favorites. My favorite was the flower pot which had a warm, pumpkin-spice sponge cake base and cream. A close second was the Thai tea panna cotta which really encapsulated the flavors of the drink into a small little dessert. My family liked the matcha tiramisu and pandan coconut ube bear more than the above but it's all personal preference. I was also surprised by how much I liked the drinks. I got the creme brulee coffee because I was craving something sweet, but I was surprised that it reminded me more of egg coffee and that the coffee itself wasn't that sweet. On the contrary, my mom's ube latte was sweet and had a good balance of the ube and coffee flavors. The pandan latte is misleading because it doesn't look like it has any coffee at all but it is a prominent flavor when you drink it. read more

If you like yummy fancy desserts, this is the place to visit. I'm always looking for unique fun spots to take my kids spending quality time with them. It was a slow mid afternoon, upon arrival we were greeted warmly. Kids were excited to see all kind of interesting desserts like they were in a candy store. Mousse Cake ASMR dream come true! Flew into the OC with both my kids to spend time with my family for my birthday this year. And I told my toddler that for sure we're going to finally try those fancy mousse cakes we keep seeing on YouTube. This place is a super convenient location for people who live near Little Saigon or Disneyland. We stopped in on a weekday right when they opened and immediately my toddler saw the pig mousse cake and said he wanted that one right away. It was a Lychee mousse cake, and I highly recommend it. The cream on the outside of that one tasted like ice cream. We chose 4 other flavors and the guy behind the counter even threw in a complimentary one since it was my birthday. So sweet!!! Unlike the cakes we got, they were just the right amount of sweet. And if you know anything about Asian folks, is we like our desserts not too sweet! It's located on the exterior of an apartment complex and parking is somewhat limited; however, on my visit I was able to snag one quickly. The cafe is warm and welcoming. There are a couple of normal chair/table seats but a couple of couches and for a more casual gathering. When you enter there's a big display case of small and large dessert plates. Everything was quite beautiful but we decided to get one large desert (wild mushroom $16), a passion cherry pineapple ($8), and a pot of the Blooming Tea ($7). They might rotate the type of desserts, but from what I tried I enjoyed and I feel like the price point is fair. "The Spoon" also had little spoons all with different designs to enjoy your treats. The Spoon is this fun bakery that offers a really unique selection of pastry items. Located right on Beach Boulevard, this café is easy to get to. There's plenty of parking in their parking lot so they should never be a problem. They have both indoor seating and a very nice outdoor patio. Your choice. Once inside, you can look over their unique and well presented bakery items. They're all really pretty, well prepared, and tasty. They also have your expected drinks, like lattes, various coffee, drinks, and other such items. What this café offers to eat and drink is very good. There's a couple of things to keep in mind, however. They generally have a very small staff. So, it may take a while for you to get your order if there's a lot of customers. The other thing is that they have a self-serve place to grab water, if you want it. I would suggest that they put some ice cubes in their water, or something like that, because the water is generally a little bit above room temperature and, thus, very warm to drink. Stumbled into this place completely by accident but I'm glad I found it! Nice little place with nice decor and even nicer desserts. All the desserts have top tier presentation you almost don't want to eat them haha. The smoothy was so refreshing literally like I was drinking a frozen puree mango. IG led me here. Look, I've gotta be honest. IG vids make this place seem like a cool popular spot to be for cakes and bougie cake shiz. Reality is.... not quite the same. I'll start with the good. Service - amazing. A young girl who is the niece of the pastry chef (the auntie who runs the place) was manning the register. She was so sweet, nice, and genuine. Part timing while she goes to ucsd, she said. She has the best service even though you could tell she was also learning some stuff still. The key is she was genuine and nice. Drinks were delicious too! Cons: this place was dead. There was one or two other customers while we were there (and we were there for a while) on a Saturday afternoon. I guess i expected more ppl to be chilling on a weekend here like IG shows. Place is cute enough to chill in (and they let our doggie in too!) Also a con - I could tell the cakes weren't truly fresh. Some of them had cream that was cracking, or a little dried out- meaning the cakes had been in refrigeration for some time. So, not exactly a place churning out cakes fresh daily with enough business to support it. But it's fine. All in all I understand it's tough being a small biz owner. And food wastage sucks. And the cakes still tasted great despite not being the freshest! Hence 4 stars because taste wise they hold up overall. (And u can take em home and freeze em and have cakes to eat for a while if you're into that lol). Some of the standout cakes were (we got a lot): the passion cherry pineapple (amazing), the pandan, the thai tea. The pandan latte drink is also DELICIOUS. The plated desserts are maybe the biggest letdown - looked cool in videos, like michelin style desserts. Then you look at it in person and you can tell it's really just more mousse cakes on a giant plate with some crumbling and drops and meh. Not exactly worth the price imo. The little $7 cakes are where it's at. Would I drive out for this again? Not sure. It's good but not so amazing that I will miss it, and there's a million other cute cake stores like this throughout LA (and fresher tbh). They don't exactly have peak standoutability. When I heard about this place (super cute desserts and nice ambiance) I just had to come check it out! I have to admit I was a little underwhelmed. Windows on the cake displays weren't too clear. And the table was very sticky (yikes), and the cups that came with the pot of tea had a little chip. However, the desserts were very good. They'll bring the items over, but she didn't offer to explain the desserts, so we had to ask. However, once we asked, she was great about telling us every dessert. When she brought over the hot of tea, she also let us know that we could get refills on hot water if we brought it over to the front. I reached out to the owner to order a whole cake for a special event for the second time, and he again took the time to help me choose their chocolate mousse cake. It honestly may have been the most delicious cake I've ever had in my life. It had a caramel filling and was so incredibly fresh and perfectly sweet -- I truly have never tasted anything like it before.
