We stopped by Filo Dessert after eating nearby, mainly because I found out they make ashta booza. I have not had booza in America before, and I had basically accepted that it was something I would only get whenever I'm in the Middle East. The moment I heard they served it here, I knew we had to go. Even though we sampled a few flavors, we had to go with ashta. We also ordered the knafeh, which is one of my favorite desserts of all time. Even with the large Middle Eastern food scene in Los Angeles, it can be surprisingly difficult to find knafeh made the way I personally enjoy it. A lot of places serve versions that are extremely cheesy or oily, when knafeh should really be an entire experience. You want the crunch of the pastry, the softness and saltiness of the cheese, and enough syrup to bring everything together without overpowering it. The knafeh here was simple but very well balanced. We covered it in syrup, but it was not overwhelmingly sweet or heavy enough to leave you crashing afterward. It also tasted evenly heated throughout, rather than scorching hot in one section and cool in another, which sometimes happens when knafeh has simply been reheated. We added pistachio booza on top, and it elevated the entire dessert. The cold, creamy pistachio flavor paired beautifully with the warm knafeh, while still tasting familiar and traditional. This is not necessarily the place to visit for flashy, TikTok-style dessert creations or highly modernized flavors. It is more like a small, family-run shop focused on traditional and comforting flavors, and I think that is exactly what makes it such a great addition to Anaheim. I would definitely come back to try more of their desserts and booza flavors. My only disappointment was that we wanted to take home a pint of the ashta booza, but they had already sold out.
Really cute shop especially loving the vibrant colors!! This was my first time having Arabic rice pudding and I was recommended to pair it with the biscoff ice cream and it honestly hit the spot. The rice pudding wasn't overly sweet and the ice cream flavor balanced each bite. Arasha was amazing for recommending this combo and the added biscoff cookie toppings which took this over the edge.

I will definitely be back to try it with a different ice cream but the knafeh it self was fresh so good. I really appreciate how they make it fresh to order so it comes out warm. This place is bit overhyped on social media. I thought the dessert here was just okay. My friend and I shared the Knafooza with Baklava Ice Cream and it was tasty, but too sweet and not what we expected. I liked the creamy Baklava Ice Cream and the crispiness of the Knafeh. However, I was disappointed that the cheese wasn't stretchy and was like a block in the center of the dessert and the Knafeh was doused in syrup, way too much and too sugary in my opinion. The server even said it was unhealthy and required 2 hours at the gym lol. I also wasn't the hugest fan of the service. The server was a bit passive aggressive to me and my friend especially when we were trying to communicate my walnut allergy. Overall, not the best experience here. The ice cream was good, but I would skip on the Knafeh.

My friends and I were looking for a sweet treat after dinner and saw that there was this! I've always wanted to try Filo Dessert and didn't know there was one in Anaheim, which was such a pleasant surprise. Right as we walked in, the worker greeted us and was constantly checking up on us to see if we were ready to order. We were all super indecisive but she was so patient and offered us samples of the ice creams. There were so many unique flavors to pick from and all the samples were delicious, but I ended up going with the lotus biscoff. It was soo creamy with a perfect cookie flavor that wasn't overly sweet! I only got "one scoop" but it actually ended up being two really large scoops and is definitely enough for 1-2 people. The inside was really home-y with pictures and other decorations on the walls. There were a few tables so we were able to eat and yap! They also had an extensive menu with other desserts, drinks, and more, but we were just looking for something simple since it was late at night. I definitely would come back here or to another location because that ice cream lives rent free in my mind!
5 stars! One of my factor rice puddings ever! The rice pudding is creamy, topped with Biscoff cream and crumbles. This shop makes all the desserts for both Filo Dessert locations (Anaheim & Orange). I'd been to their other location with my cousin-Sistra n my sister in law, so I figured, why not stop in? Mom took one bite and lit up! "This is the BEST KINAFAH EVER!" Mom's whole face lit up, totally made her day (and mine!) We had the pleasure of meeting the lovely dynamic duo husband-and-wife team behind Filo. Wifey is the bakery boss, Hubby is the ice cream king! They even brought over a complimentary new dessert they're testing and asked for feedback, love customer facing businesses that are personable like that, totally transforms the experience! Pssstt... Finally got to try out this middle eastern dessert place at the Orange Circle! We got the nutella ice cream, affogato with pistachio ice cream, and the dubai chocolate. The nutella ice cream was awesome, not too sweet and super creamy. The affogato was also nice with the pistachio ice cream. The workers said that their pistachio was one of their most popular flavors and I could definitely see why. We also got the dubai chocolate because it's super trendy right now. I liked the texture of it but I wasn't able to taste the pistachio and it was a bit too sweet for me. The inside was also a really cute place to hang out. Kinda small, but they have an upstairs area as well.

While eating lunch a few blocks away I was craving ice cream and used Yelp to find something nearby. I arrived only a few minutes after they opened and was greeted by a friendly owner. This shop serves all sorts of amazing looking desserts and unique creations. It took a lot of willpower to stick with a scoop of ice cream but I need to return to try more stuff! I got a scoop of the "baklava crunch" ice cream. I expected just some baklava sprinkled over ice cream so I was pleasantly surprised to see it was fully blended into it. Truly delicious and captured all the flavors of baklava. There was no "crunch" though so maybe they should sprinkle a bit on top. I also tried their "Filo Tea" which is hot organic black tea with a choice of fresh mint or sage. I went with sage which the employee let me know is from Jordan. This was a spa in a cup. I went here today and I wanted to get the Booza Arabia. I saw it on their Instagram account and I wanted to try that. I didn't know the name at the time so I showed the owner the actual image and he got me what I wanted. The Booza Arabia is even named and pictured on the napkin dispensers. This is a new location which opened up aside from the one in Old Towne Orange. Located in a tiny strip plaza with minimal parking in Little Arabia area of Anaheim, the cafe itself is a bit packed with limited seating so please beware of that! I wanted to originally order the Karak Chai, a favorite of mine but it seemed they were out and the barista told me they were unable to make a batch for an unknown reason possibly due to them running out/timing. It seemed they were still learning the ropes as they had just opened up. Regardless, I decided to order a classic Turkish Coffee. Additionally, I wish there was less miscommunication between the barista and myself as I had told her I wanted to dilute the coffee down with milk and cream if possible as Turkish Coffee can be quite concentrated and strong but she just seemed to charge me for two of them which wasn't what I wanted at all. The Turkish Coffee itself was good with flavor but super concentrated and strong. Definitely not my favorite and needed to be more diluted. It's hard to imagine people drink that as is. That said, the cafe is pretty inside with the aesthetics and their desserts looked delicious. Give this new spot a try but definitely do your research in advanced on what to order because everyone's preferences will certainly vary. read more

We had dessert rose strawberry, mint lemon ice cream and creamy sahlab in orange store last week. It were not very sweet and we loved it. I have a new favorite ice cream shop and that says a LOT because I've been loyal to Salt and Straw for so long. Truly the friendliest service I've ever had. Walked in with my cousins and we're not very familiar with Arabic desserts so we were shy. The employee explained everything so nicely and we felt super comfortable. She gave her suggestions and favorites, explaining how everything is made and where the ingredients were sourced. Filo has Arabic ice cream (booza) and sweets. Their fusion combo includes a sweet and ice cream so it's great you get to try both. Try as many samples as you'd like. Rice pudding (5/5): sweet, creamy, pairs perfectly with ice cream. We did rice pudding and Turkish coffee ice cream. Ice cream flavors we got: Turkish coffee, honey lavender, pistachio, and biscoff. All the ice cream is insanely creamy - not a single ice shard. It's also slightly stretchy - the texture is insane. Employee recommends trying the biscoff last because once people try that one, nothing can compare. I really really liked the slight bitter aftertaste of the coffee ice cream and LOVED the pistachio ice cream. Literally nothing ever compares. I believe they have their own pistachio farm! The ice cream is jam packed with pistachios and they even top with more crushed pistachios on the side. I'm dreaming about the time I get to have this again. On the pricier side but well worth it. The scoops are huge! Roughly 8 seats inside. Tables of two so not great for big groups. Parking is also really limited in the plaza. read more

Came upon Filo as we were looking for knafeh after dinner. The owner was really personable and claimed they had the best in town...and he was so right. We love Middle Eastern dessert and this knafeh was perfectly sweet, light and crispy outside, with gooey great texture cheese inside. We got the regular knafeh, a scoop of the mastic booza ice cream, and cup of karak. All delicious. We even sampled a saffron flavor the owner was working on and it was amazing and balanced - hope he sells it in pints because our favorite saffron ice cream is far away and this was on par. They have simple syrup on the table if you like things on the sweeter side. Inside decor was nice and with plenty of seating. Will be back! read more

We absolutely loved this place. The desserts are delicious without being too sweet or heavy. Parking is a little difficult and the location isn't the best area, but once inside, there's a decent amount of seating. The owner and other staff were very kind and helpful and gave good recommendations. There is a public restroom available. I definitely recommend this spot. read more

What I got: Knafooza (knafeh with ice cream on top) with Baklava Crunch and Date Nite ice cream * Taste: 10/10!! The knafeh was freshly baked, warm, and crispy and the ice cream on top is such a perfect idea. Both of the ice cream flavors I picked married beautifully with the flavor of the knafeh and its syrup (which you can add more of since they have bottles at each table!) You can tell that love goes into their food :) * Service: 10/10!!! Samantha helped us today, and she was so sweet and welcoming. She kindly asked if it was our first time there and proceeded to explain to us how the menu worked, which was so helpful! Everything we had was all so very good! I loved the mint lemon ice cream, along with the peach flavor. The lemon one was bright and not overly sweet, while the peach one felt so fresh the texture definitely gave it away. The woman helping us was very kind and worked as fast as she could to get us our order. The store is quiet and very nice inside, there's a few tables to sit at and some counters too. I definitely recommend eating it there instead of taking it to-go just to take a moment and enjoy it fresh. The one thing I'll say is be patient please! Came to try the ice cream will come back for the Knafeh. We tried the "mastika mastic" ice cream it has a slightly elastic texture and tastes like a pine tree. It was perfect for my husband who doesn't love super sweet things and it went with my Karak tea perfectly! The Carmel Karak was very tasty similar to a masala chai. I might try the saffron next time. The pistachio baklava was great but nothing you couldn't get at another Mediterranean or Persian restaurant so I would save room to try other unique things here. What absolutely stole the show and might be one of my new favorite desserts is the Knafeh. We got it with pistachio ice cream which was good but it didn't need it. The Knafeh can be ordered "crunchy or soft". They recommended the soft with the ice cream and it was amazing and still had a little crunch. It was sweet, crunchy, the cheese was DELICIOUS. Will definitely be coming back again for more. The staff were super friendly and talked us through the options (we tried a little bit of everything). Words can't describe how tasty and warm welcoming Filo is . My Girlfriend and I are huge fans of desserts especially pistachio, We got the KNAFOOZA w/ Pastachio ice cream . When i tell you the creaminess of ice cream and the crunchiness of the kanfeh is absolutely insane. Highly recommend trying this spot out either you're a local or a tourist it's amazing. Im Iranian, and my Arab best friend brought me here yesterday & i cant say enough how amazing everything tasted!! First of all, the customer service was great, the lady was super sweet to us and let us taste ice creams & the man working there was very kind also. I have tried knafa before at different places, and since its not traditionally eaten in Iranian culture, im not too fond of the taste because its usually either too sweet or too cheesy. Can't stress enough how much I love this place! I've never been a huge fan of desserts in general but the fact that I've come back here for the 3rd time within the last 2 months speaks volume! Everyone there is so friendly and helpful. They give you suggestions on what you should try and it feels so warm and welcoming. PLUS everything we've tried so far hits. The ice cream, sorbet, coffee, Kunafeh Butter, Roz Bi Haleeb (rice pudding), Sahlabb (warm milk drink). Literally nothing has failed me here. I'm excited to come back and try out more :) read more
