While exploring the downtown Disney, we saw this Salt and Straw store. The store had a wonderful wooden art interior. There were not many spots to sit. One of the shelves had some merchandise products. The menu had about 18 flavors and 6 different size options were available. The barista we had was so friendly and patient. She assisted us with trying 5-6 different flavors. Eventually we orders the chocolate gooey brownie and sea salt caramel ribbons, my favorite flavor at S&S, in kids cup, which were $7.50 each. Loved both flavors so much. Both scoops were dense and full of taste. We were glad to have found this place and end our Disneyland day on a sweet sugar rush note. read more

We entered in at about 5:45 pm. Usually the line at this establishment is lengthy, but we fortunately only had to wait a few minutes before being helped. Jacob (the name of the gentleman who helped my fiancé and I select our ice cream flavors) was incredibly patient as we tried about 8 different flavors and went above in beyond in providing us with additional flavors to sample and providing us with his ice cream flavor pairing recommendations. Normally we stick to the more traditional ice cream flavors, but wanted to try something new this visit. We were blown away by the many odd but curiously delicious flavors that were being offered. After tasting the wildly unique flavors (including Gruyere Cheese and Tomato, Arbequine Olive Oil, Rhubarb Crumble with Toasted Anise, and Wildflower Honey and Lemon Chess Pie), Jacob suggested that we pair the Rhubarb Crumble with Toasted Anise and Wildflower Honey and Lemon Chess Pie together. We loved this suggestion, and gladly obliged. Jacob even went out of his way to explain what a Chess Pie was (I had no idea what it was, but now I'm going to scope out a place to try it!), and even asked if we had a preference of which ice cream flavor scoop was stacked on top of the other scoop. The flavors are definitely unique--this summer month was focus on "farmers market" so sounds a little bizarre at first--but they're surprisingly complex and really well done like the dill + cucumber flavor, you could ask for samples. I tried several on the "limited edition" menu board. Even the ones I wasn't sure about ended up tasting good and intentional. The ice cream ingredients are certainly above average and creamy. The ambience is very family friendly and there are no sitting areas inside. This is a very unique ice cream shop with a wide variety of flavours that are very uncommon. They have their classic flavours that they don't change and then they have their seasonal flavours that are changed every month. If you are unsure of what flavour you want to get, you can ask for samples and they have a spot to dispose spoons afterwards. I love their waffle cones which are always fresh. After a long day at Disney, I tend to crave one of these ice creams. They are on the more expensive side but are worth it. It really helped bring the two things together in a different way. I was surprised how well they tasted together. The hazelnut also added a nice crunch that just gave it a bite that I liked.
