    Coffee/pistachio
    Tyler J.

I got the coffee pistachio flavor today and was surprised by the color. Looks more vanilla white than the usual green pistachio. But once you taste it, the flavor comes through. The coffee color isn't too dark either, but I think we're all programmed to expect super artificial vibrant fake colors in our food. Great creamy light texture that's satisfying.

Upside down Ah-Boong with Nutella cookies and cream, Oreo crumbs, and a strawberry

For those out there with a sweet tooth that get cravings after you eat, this is the perfect spot for you! It's hard to find a better dessert than this. The soft serve ice cream that they use is very light and creamy, while not being overly sweet. I always get the upside down Ah-Boong in a cup to avoid inevitably making a mess. I love the Nutella filling as it gets all warm and gooey inside the Ah-Boong. Sprinkle some Oreo crumbs on top, add a strawberry or macaron, and your tastebuds are taking a one way ticket straight to FlavorTown. The prices are reasonable and the service is always great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is almost always busy and it's easy to see why!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Can't go wrong with desert here. Service is usually fast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's place to hang with family and friends outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My favorite filling is custard.

I've been here a few times over the years. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's always packed to the brim with a line out the door and there's no inside seating except a counter you can stand at while people crowd around you waiting for their order.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Last week I drove past and saw zero customers so I pulled into the parking lot with glee.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love taiyaki and this place makes them fresh to order. These are soft yet chewy fish shaped waffles. You can get them open mouthed with soft serve ice cream or sealed up with filling. They constantly rotate flavors so there's usually something new. My latest visit I had a matcha custard filled and a hottoek (nuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon) filled. Hottoek is their current specialty flavor and I highly recommend you rush to get one before they go. I probably could have eaten a dozen of these. The matcha custard was delicious too. In the past I have tried the regular custard, nutella, and red bean. You really can't go wrong with any. The soft serve is really good too. I'm not into eating ice cream via licking so they'll put the ice cream in a cup and place the taiyaki on top if you like eating with a spoon like me. I have tried the black sesame and oreo. Both really good. You can also add filling to the taiyaki besides the ice cream!

Ube and matcha swirl upside-down ahboong

I love somisomi! Their flavors are always rich and creamy. This time around, we opted for the upside-down ahboong with matcha custard and a ube matcha swirl. The hot ahboong paired well with the cold and sweet soft serve, making this a perfect sweet treat after a night out!

This somi somi is located in a corner plaza right off of Garden Grove blvd. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of parking and lots of customers inside and outside on a Sunday afternoon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered the upside down ahboong which is the soff serve on a cup then the taiyaki on top. The regular ahboong is the soft serve on top and inside the taiyaki which gets pretty messy as the ice cream melts. They have rotating swirl flavors so for that visit, I got milk and ube. They also have regular daily flavors such as cookies and cream and ube by itself. They also have taiyaki's, which are served warm and are the fish-looking pastries filled with your choice of custard, nutella and even red bean.

Reliable spot if you're looking for a sweet treat. My only issue is I sometimes don't like the swirl flavors but that just depends on the week. I do like the taiyaki a lot though and normally just get those. If I want soft serve though, I usually share the upside down ahboong with one or two other people since they're pretty decent sized Milk + banana pudding: 3/5 the milk flavor was ok, but I didn't like the banana since it tasted pretty artificial and reminded me of banana laffy taffy

Cookies and cream and matcha swirl

Somisomi always has delicious soft serve! I got the oreo and matcha swirl from their daily swirls with oreo and macaron toppings. The soft serve is super creamy and not icey at all. The oreo flavor was spot on and the matcha flavor was there and not overly milky. Highly recommend!

    Jamie M.

Service is very fast. We love how creamy the soft serve is. Getting it upside down is the way to go! We tried the matcha custard recently and it's pretty good. I prefer the regular custard filling, but it's fun to mix it up sometimes. They offer unlimited toppings. So much to choose from.. I really like fruity pebbles and matcha powder. Taiyaki is so hot and warm. Soooo fresh. There is always parking on the side where the lot is. The line and crowd seems long inside and outside, but don't be worried! The line goes fast and people usually just stand around eating inside and outside of the shop. We are always in and out of here very quickly. We have been getting Somisomi a lot in the winter since November haha. I feel like I don't get ice cream as much during the summer. Such a nice winter treat. We love this place!

I was really craving a certain mix of flavor, so I'm glad Somisomi posts their menu of the week ahead of time on instagram! I got the Matcha & Cookies and Cream Upside Down Ahboong with Custard and sprinkled Oreos. The best thing about this ice cream is how creamy and not crazy sweet it is! The balance of the Custard Taiyaki on top of it really seals the deal for me. I could eat either and both without getting sick of it. You can taste each flavor distinctively!

    Brigitte S.

The taiyaki is soo delicious, we got the custard and the Nutella - both of which, I would get again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The line was very long (we came on a Friday night) and there is very little seating so you'll probably have to eat in your car.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

First time trying out this location. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was reasonably busy when we arrived on a late Sunday evening but no long lines pouring out onto the street or anything like the DTLA location[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. When we stepped inside there was a girl operating the cashier station taking orders and a guy behind filling orders. There was maybe a handful of people waiting for their orders. When it came to my turn most of the crowd had cleared. I ordered the ube swirl with a taiyaki pastry. Simple as that. I waited on the side for my order. Waited and waited and noticed people that came after me were leaving with their orders so I got frustrated when I was practically the last one left waiting and the place was emptying out now. I walked up to the girl that took my order and she proceeded to look for my order as if someone else took the order. She said she couldn't find it. It was really weird cuz I was standing right next to her station the entire time. You'd think that maybe she would think "hey why is that guy still waiting or something" I thought ok it's been a long day I'll give her a break. She asked what I ordered and I told her. She gave me the order said sorry in a "just get out of here kinda vibe" so I left. I doubt I'll be coming back to this location anytime soon, but it was very conveniently located near a friend's house that I visited so it's unfortunate. I might consider giving them another try someday but you'd better bet I'm gonna be on top of that order this time and not just sit back and wait forever. This was supposed to be a five star review, but considering my experience... 4 stars overall cuz I really love their desserts. Happy Eats!

    Jenny P.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Easy parking + efficient service + small interior.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The have different mixed soft serves weekly, but I usually order the ube soft serve ($5). Taiyaki and ice cream are good.

He got a pig with piglet in butter pecan and milk & oreo flavors, and I got the rose shaped one in black sesame, Pandan mung bean coconut, taro coconut, and durian. Gelato itself is delicious (texture, flavor, sweetness level, everything hits the spot!), I love the selection and variety of all the flavors and all the flavors were delicious too! Prices were fair too, not insanely jacked up and overpriced - especially since I love the unique characters too, which are absolutely adorable! Their attention to detail is amazing! Service is not great though. Only reason I docked a star. They feed into the stereotype of the Vietnamese being cheapskates. They're very stingy with samples - and I'm a paying customer, my friend and I were each getting one. I had tried Pandan mung bean coconut, black sesame, and when I asked for Durian was when the guy started making comments so I had to go ahead and order (didn't like that though). I wanted the rose (since it allowed 4 flavors), and the guy there warned me how the rose won't look that pretty with 4 colors - I said that's fine, I want a lot of flavor options. Also note that the staff speaks fluent Viet - I spoke to them in Viet (southern region accent). Overall my friend and I had a good experience here. We'd still recommend them and will likely come back!

The night market is only during summer time so i was so excited when i heard that they were actually opening their own location! My mom and I been hooked since then on their lychee, Jackfruit, and durian ice cream. The reason why we liked it is because the flavors are rare and hard to find anywhere else. Also, I believe their ice cream is made with really fresh ingredients. You can really taste the freshness and flavor. My mom is extremely annoyingly picky but she actually likes the ice cream from Ant's a lot. I also tried the original flavors and I would highly recommend the strawberry but mostly the pistachio. It was so delicious.! I came for ice cream but the smell of the fresh brewing tea smelled too good to pass up. I tried the original milk tea and all I have to say is wow. You can really taste the strong tea flavor in the drink (which I really like and is usually really picky about). I will definitely be back to try other flavors! I love the inside as there's actually seating and tables inside and outside to mingle with friends. Really rare to see that these days. Customer service was friendly and great. The mint and chip is basic. Nothing too much about it. My kids like it, so I got it. Average 3/5. The rose ice cream tasted like a rose, it was pretty good and very floral. The disappointing part is I was hoping the ice cream would be shaped like a rose as depicted on the picture. Nope, just a scoop and left it as is. 5/5 for taste and 0/5 for presentation. The milk and cereal one was actually pretty good. Especially with Frosted Flakes in it. It literally taste like cereal. 5/5. We walked into a space that stands out immediately with its themed decor, character designs, and little details that make it feel different from a typical ice cream spot. The shop has a strong personality without relying only on the theme, making it a place that works for both anime fans and anyone looking for unique desserts. The interior is compact but thoughtfully designed, with colorful artwork and small touches that reward a closer look. The biggest highlight is the rotating ice cream selection. The flavors go beyond the usual options, with combinations like ube, sea salt, yuzu orange, and other seasonal creations that give the menu a more adventurous feel. We appreciated that they offer samples before choosing, since the variety makes it hard to decide. The flavors are creative but still approachable, and the dairy-free options are a nice addition for people looking for alternatives. The ube had a rich, earthy sweetness, and the yuzu orange offered a bright, citrusy contrast that kept the tasting experience interesting. The texture of the ice cream was smooth and creamy, and the flavors were well balanced without relying on excessive sweetness. The presentation is also part of the experience. The anime-inspired names, cute designs, and collectible stickers that come with the scoops add a fun element that makes the visit feel more memorable. We noticed a mix of fans and families enjoying the space, and the overall energy of the shop is welcoming and playful. The small details, from the branding to the way the staff interacted with customers, made the visit feel more personal and engaging. Service was friendly and welcoming, and the staff were helpful when explaining the different flavors or letting us try options before committing. They were patient with questions and offered thoughtful recommendations based on what we were in the mood for. The space itself is on the smaller side, so seating can be limited and it may be better suited for grabbing a scoop and enjoying it nearby rather than spending a long time inside. The turnover moves quickly, and the staff manage the flow efficiently. Tsun Scoops is a great dessert stop if you are looking for something more unique than a standard ice cream shop. The combination of creative flavors, anime-inspired atmosphere, and small personal touches makes it feel like a place built around the experience as much as the ice cream itself, offering a visit that is both playful and satisfying.
