For an ice cream shop the menu is pretty vast! There is not just ice cream but also cakes, sundaes, floats, milkshakes, and freshly fried mini donuts. They have your typical scooped cones/cups but what makes rainbow cone special is the sliced layers! I opted for the small sliced creation where you can choose up to 5 flavors/layers. You can do all different flavors or repeat some. The ice cream isn't icy at all and is more on the light/airy side rather than rich and dense (similar to the texture to Breyer's ice cream). I flavors I got were palmer house, pistachio almond, vanilla, huckleberry and chocolate chip cookie dough which turned out soooo pretty. The flavors are quite light and not super strong which I liked. I also tried the mini donuts which you can watch them be fried fresh to order. I tried the cider donuts (which are covered in cider sugar) and they were delicious; soft with tender crumb and a slight sweet and tang from the cider sugar. With our insane October heat, I needed ice cream and wanted to try something new. We decided on The Original Rainbow Cone. I got a hot fudge sundae and my husband got a scoop of chocolate peanut butter ice cream. The sundae is enormous and so delicious. The hot fudge is perfectly melty and warm with the ice cream. Both the vanilla and chocolate peanut butters ice creams we had were great as well. The inside is clean with a few tables to enjoy your dessert. The employees were helpful and kind. This is now our second day in a row at this place.. (don't judge). My 5yo is in love with their "Superman" flavor. As an adult, that flavor is revolting... but both my boys agree it's the best. As for me, I am in love with the "Palmer House" flavor- old school vanilla paired with cherries and walnuts... just enough sweet to please the senses. Finally made it in here to try their unique rainbow cone with yummy layers of ice cream. To my surprise and delight they have happy hr prices on the rainbow cone and other choices Mon-Fri until 3pm. I made it right on time! My kid got a mint chocolate chip scoop with m&ms on top he was so satisfied with 1 scoop couldn't finish it. Luckily they have to go cups ready for ya. I love how they have slices of ice cream cake to go too ( mint choco chip flavor is on my next visit list). It's also fun watching them make the donuts and smelling how good they are. I love ice cream and my boyfriend suggested we try The Original Rainbow Cone. Baskin Robbins and Dairy Queen are my favorites so I was little iffy on trying a new spot. I didn't see flavors I usually order so I decided to play it safe and ordered a vanilla sundae. However, my boyfriend went all in and ordered their sliced creation with five different flavors. I ended up trying a few of his flavors, and to my surprise, it was really good. Still craving ice cream a week later, we returned. However this time, I ordered the sliced creation too. I have been addicted ever since. Long story short, we have returned several times, and my favorite flavor by far is the pistachio almond. I even went to diary queen and ordered their pistachio and it didn't even compare to The Original Rainbow Cone. The other flavors I have tried are Superman, butter pecan, mint chocolate chip, and huckleberry, and they are all good. I definitely recommend The Original Rainbow Cone and will continue coming back. Absolutely worth the hype, I am so obsessed with the banana cream pie ice cream, and the apple pie ice cream, it's been so hot out the last few weeks I've made so many visits. It is always such a treat stopping by rainbow cone we are so lucky to live so close to one! I ordered the chocolate obsession in a cup and it had great flavors combined to satisfy the chocolate cravings, however the texture was not as creamy as other ice creams. It almost had an icy texture, as if the milk content was a little less than say the traditional Baskin Robbins scoop of ice cream (one star off). There were 4 or 5 tables to sit outside and 1 peculiar table inside which seemed to be more in the way of people as they entered the line to order. The gimmick of the ice cream flavors being stacked versus scooped was a great way to enjoy all the flavors at once and was very Instagram worthy of a photo. I would come back to try another flavor profile or maybe even have it on a cone versus the cup to see how it literally stacks up to the other ice cream flavors. Original Rainbow - 5 flavors stacked to create a precarious mountain of ice cream. From the bottom to the top, it was chocolate, strawberry, "palmer house" (which is like cherry + walnuts set in a vanilla-y base), pistachio, and orange sherbet on top. All the flavors play an important role in the composition of this stack, and kinda all balance each other out. It was kinda like spumoni but like if Scooby Doo was raiding the freezer trying to make it. Cosmic Birthday - Layers of their "superman" ice cream in-between birthday cake ice cream. I never got hit with such a rush of nostalgia as this place has given me. The interior design really makes me feel like I'm in a good ole ice cream parlor with the friendliest staff you can ask for. But the main star is truly the Rainbow cone. If you are allergic to ice cream or dairy this isn't for you. I went to a food fest and saw their booth. They were giving out donuts and ice cream. My girlfriend tried the mini donuts and I had the ice cream. I've been HOOKED ever since They handed me a little menu giving their whole backstory and the list of things they offer. It's in a private parking lot but they share it with a couple other places. The shop is cute. It has their story everywhere and old photos, Barbie pink stools to sit on (also have I think one or two tables. The tables were limited vs the stools lined up against the wall with a counter) they also have a big ice cream statue Caroline was absolutely so sweet. She did a great job at asking every customer that came in if it was their first time, if they had any questions, if they want a sample. I told her it was my first time here and she asked how I found out about the place. So Caroline was on point! 10/10 They don't just have scoops of ice cream, no no no, they offer slices of ice cream cake, floats, decked out sundaes and more (again, the mini donuts, too! Which, you can add to your ice cream) they even have custom ice cream cookie sandwiches. You could even get them in a pack to take home I ended up ordering my ice cream and then getting a slice of their orange vanilla cake. It was delicious I love the combo of orange and vanilla. Sometimes you just want or even NEED ice cream and that is just what happened while we were traveling from San Diego to Los Angeles. We had driven a bit of the coastal highway and my older daughter said "there's this place that looks really interesting and I've been wanting to try it". That is how we ended up at the Original Rainbow Cone. Now, I am not one for gimmicky ice creams. In fact, the more basic and old school the joint is when it comes to ice cream, the happier I am. Full cream, slow churned, made with love and real fresh ingredients. This is definitely something Rainbow cone does properly, and they do have well made ice cream. However, I opted for a chocolate milkshake, as I knew the legit ice cream would make a great treat, especially after my earlier burger from Jack in the Box. One thing I could agree on with my wife was that the actual original rainbow cone itself was delicious. The layering of different colorful flavors actually work together perfectly. The other layered choices didn't really seem all that enticing and are obviously geared at the theme they have going of the stacked slabs of different flavors of ice cream. This feeds into the gimmick, which really isn't for me, but again, the quality is there so it was still a tasty experience in my book. The welcoming staff was also a highlight as none of us had any experience in what the cones were or what we wanted to order or even where to start. They were helpful, fun, and even played along with my patented ridiculousness and even led us to the recommendation to try the original rainbow that I ended up enjoying thoroughly.
